Rain has been a sushi go-to for years, though it seems to be not as great as it once was. Don't get me wrong; the food is still good, just not AS good. But with happy hour specials it makes up for it I guess. The service is decent, but be prepared to wait a bit. I ordered my food and then had to wait for a server to come by my table to get some silverware. No lie, I waiting for silverware for 5 minutes. And I just needed chopsticks and a napkin. The stuffed wings are good, and I got the Cajun roll this time. If you're looking for a decent lunch go-to under $20, come here. Just plan accordingly with your time.

12 piece sashimi dinner

The food was surprisingly good given being in a landlocked desert city. I had a sashimi dinner of 12 pieces, with spicy edamame. The staff was very casual but friendly. Nothing made it stand out as exceptional, except for the fact that it was, in fact, located in Amarillo. It could use a little personality.

First off, YUM! I am not a huge fan of sushi, but this place changed my mind! I have been CRAVING sushi since my visit. I had the steamed gyoza for an appetizer, the sauce they came in was delicious. I had the Tide Roll for an entree and the Pineapple Upside-down Martini. The water also had cucumbers garnished, Yum!! The service was off I felt, or the server was running behind, although, we did eventually get everything our group had requested! The ambiance of the place was very laid back and fun! Loved the different lighting in the place! Definitely worth visiting!

Bottom left: salmon skin roll with overcooked rice. Top left: mystery roll and Korean short rib. Center: Loch Ness maki. Right: ikura.

We got takeout from here on our last night in Amarillo. We got the Korean short rib to share, which was the best thing we tried, by far. The meat was tender and the flavor was great. Unfortunately, the sushi was not on par with the cooked food. We got the loch ness maki, ikura, and a salmon skin roll. The lock ness roll was decent, but the ikura was not super fresh, having that kind of sticky texture instead of a snappy, burst in your mouth effect. The rice in the salmon skin roll was wayyy overcooked and gummy. It was a gross texture to chew and I'd say borderline inedible. We also ordered a spider roll, which they left out entirely, and we got what looked like a spicy tuna roll with cucumber instead. Maybe just stick with the cooked food here as the one non-sushi item we got was actually good. It's also worth noting a few things about the staff. When I placed the order on the phone, I asked if it's possible for the salmon skin roll to be a hand roll. The woman didn't know what I was talking about and told me all of their sushi is hand-rolled. I told her a hand roll is cone-shaped and one large roll, and her response was, "So, you don't want it cut...?" Never mind. Then, when we were waiting for our food outside, there was a large group of staff hanging out and chatting on the patio and some of them were smoking on the job while adjusting tables and chairs. It was kind of gross to see.

Came here on my work visit to Amarillo. The happy hour all day on Wednesday reeled me in and out was also recommended by a local. The sushi I had were excellent and the lychee martini was spectacular. Happy hour prices are a steal! Highly recommend!

I always get the Rock & Roll roll and it's seriously my favorite. It's so fresh and flavorful every single time--I literally crave it. You can tell they're consistent with their quality, which I love. Service is always quick, and everything just runs smoothly every time I go. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Amarillo. If you haven't tried the Rock & Roll roll yet, you're missing out!!

Came here in April of 2026 to give this place a swirl ... I would give this place a 3.5 stars…read more The vibe: A casual spot that can't quite decide if it's in Bangkok or Tokyo... and honestly leans more Thailand than Japan. Decor is more Thai than Japan, nothing memorable. Service? Also fine & courteous - you'll get what you need, just not much extra. The menu moment: Lots of varieties of Thai dishes and Japanese rolls. What I tried: Pad Kee Mao (#58) -- Stir-fried udon with a full house of meats, shrimp, and veggies. Spicy, saucy, and hits the spot if you're craving pan-fried noodles. Solid portion for $14.95 -- and the one thing I'd come back for. Crispy Tofu (#5) -- Tried it for the first time... and probably the last. Didn't quite land for me. $8.95. The takeaway: Nothing really stands out here, but it gets the job done if you're in the mood for Thai-style noodles. The know before you go: No dessert. Translation: no mango sticky rice. Tragic. Next on deck: Ceviche Salad (#89) -- because curiosity wins. The bottom line: Worth it if you're nearby and want a quick noodle fix. Just keep expectations in check (and maybe skip the tofu).

**Terrible Experience -- Avoid This Place**…read more If I could give this place negative stars, I would. We went to this sad excuse for a restaurant last night, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Our party of five adults (plus a young child) waited nearly two hours and never even received food for most of our group. Two of the adults were served, but the rest of us were completely forgotten. After more than an hour of waiting, we finally asked what was going on--only to find out they had*never entered the rest of our order at all. At first, they told us our food was "just a little behind" and on its way, but that turned out not to be true. Then they even tried to serve us another table's order--who had just arrived--so that's when we realized our order had never been placed, or had been given to another party. After we complained several times and had to flag down multiple people for help because our server had disappeared, we finally got them to put in our order. When they did finally start bringing food, they brought the dishes out one at a time, with more than 30 minutes between each. By that point, four of the six people in our group (including the child) had already left. I asked for my food to be packed to go because everyone else had already left, but they put the meat, vegetables, rice, and noodles all together in one box, turning it into a watery, soupy mess that was completely inedible. Both entrees we were served had to be thrown away. Even after explaining everything that had happened, our waitress disappeared for another 20 minutes. We had to flag down three different servers just to get our bill--for a meal we never got to enjoy. In the end, we were **extorted for over $70** for an experience that was beyond unacceptable. Whatever you do, **DO NOT VIST TOKYO STEAKHOUSE in AMARILLO TX.** You'll wait for hours, get little to no service, and walk away frustrated, hungry, completely ripped off, without an explanation or apology. This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've ever had. We waited hours only to have our pockets picked by these people. In the end, we went home, and still had to make our dinner. Don't waste your time on these clowns.
