Today, my wife and I booked a couples massage. The building was easy to find, with ample parking space. The decor was wonderful, and the ambiance was amazing. We enjoyed the atmosphere as we had a brief wait until our appointment. The massage itself was superb. The therapists were very in tune with our needs and comfort. However, when the massage was over, there was a woman behind the counter who was noticeably unfriendly and unwelcoming. Can't speak to their services (for which they have great reviews), but reception and customer service leave something to be desired. I called on Friday evening (3/27 at 5:40pm) hoping to make an appointment for the following Monday. I was immediately put on hold as soon as they picked up. They left me on hold for 15 min and then hung up. When I called back around 5:55pm, it went straight to voicemail. I understand they close at 6pm, but I called 20 min prior to that to make sure I could reach someone. I left a voicemail but by 9:30am the following day I hadn't heard back so I called again to book. The woman who answered was pleasant, but said she didn't think a massage therapist would be available on the Monday. She'd check with them and call me back right away. I never received any call back. In the end, I found a competitor one town over with even better reviews to book my massage and facial. Sad day that I didn't get to try this place given we've driven by it a number of times and was curious to go, but I wasn't about to call a third time to book $300 worth of services. read more

The private waiting room is so relaxing! After consultation with my specialist, I decided to try an oxygenation facial. ALL the creams and scrubs smelled delicious being massaged into my face. I would have loved to give this place a five! This was my second visit. The first time I went the front desk staff were not very nice but the service was amazing so I said let me come back a second time. I arrived and provided my name, the reception desk began to laugh, they claimed that they weren't laughing at me. They checked me in and then I stood around awkwardly, being this was my second time I knew they had a relaxation area where I could wait, but didn't know if I can go ahead. So I asked, they said sure why not. I then sat there for a long time. My esthetician was prepping the room. When I entered the robe was damp, the sheets were damp, they just washed everything and she apologized I just removed the robe and then asked for the warmer to be on in which it felt like a sauna it was too hot. I asked her to turn it off. I went to check out the esthetician seemed rushed, the front desk staff just asked for my card and then continue to talk amongst themselves they checked me out, gave me my card and then they were complaining about a customer who called over the phone attempting to make an appointment. They were very rude. Quite sad to have to write this because the facial felt okay if it wasn't for the sheets, robe and sauna bed . On to find another place for my facials. read more

I have been to Rain for the Salt Cave, which I absolutely love! You will be relaxed and breathing easy.

I've been here before, I've had Liz in the past who apparently is no longer there which was a big disappointment b/c the quality of the massage is why I went back. Although my massage therapist was very nice, I felt like she was just rubbing me, no real technique. Things seemed very different since my last visit.. I'll try to explain. In terms of ambiance. Decent. Nothing special. Noticeable issues... there is one very small bathroom to change in. The lockers are falling apart and very small. When I tried to fit my clothes, coat, sneakers and purse in the locker- it pushed the back wall out. I also had trouble locking and unlocking the lockers. Onto the "relaxation room"... there was water for tea that I had to heat myself, no sugar or cream available. Lights were out here and there... then some employees came in to try to fix a light bulb while I was trying to relax. Really? You couldn't have done that before opening? There were plenty of clients (I'm assuming) in street clothes.. walking in and out of the door located right next to the "relaxation room"- it was pretty noisy, there were even kids in the waiting room. So on the plus side. Everyone who worked there was incredibly friendly but this just isn't the spa for me. If anyone knows where Liz went- please message me. read more

I love this spa! Best one in Branford. I've gotten facials, massages and pedicures here and I'm never disappointed! I gave 4 starts for two reasons, one of the reasons being the massage and facial room off of the nail room isn't a good idea. You can hear all outside noise from guests talking to people walking by.. it takes away from the whole relaxing in peace and quiet aspect. My second reason being last time during my pedicure appt one of the workers came from outside the waxing room and waved two dollars at the girl doing my pedicure and goes "two dollars! That's all she gave me!! I have to have your damn cooch smell in my face and all you give me is $2!" I'm almost positive her guest heard her.. because the guest walked back into the room and told the worker "I had to go get change I'd never give you a $2 tip" Although the comment wasnt directed at me, I found it extremely unprofessional and kind of uncomfortable as a guest to sit there and hear this comment. I work in the same field so I understand why she was upset with the tip amount, but it still wasn't ok. I love rain wellness spa, and I highly recommend to everyone. read more

I booked a body scrub for myself as part of my birthday week celebration With Heidi, who I was told is the owner. When I arrived at rain, it wasn't clear where the entrance was and I ended up on the second floor instead of the first. Upon entering there were three young women sitting behind the glass in a very small crowded entry way, who barely acknowledged me, and I had to engage them. I was ushered to a waiting area and then to the room for my service which had a heater running, and was boiling hot. Heidi entered the room and I asked her to turn the heater off since it was a warm day and a small room. She briefly explained the procedure and left the room. There was no robe or slippers for me to put on, so I got onto the table which had no face cradle. she said I could just lie on the table but that was uncomfortable for my neck so she got a face cradle, and then could not figure out how to attach it to the table and folded a towel for my head. She proceeded with a scrub, which was OK, but she seemed not really interested in what she was doing. After the scrub, I went in for the shower and there was a small towel in the shower, but no robe or slippers for me to get from the table to the shower. When I returned from the shower, it was chilly in the room so I turned the heater back on. I felt that she should've anticipated that I might be cold and do it for me, but she didn't. The rest of the procedure was just OK but nothing exceptional ..upon leaving and paying the three young women were sitting behind the glass eating potato chips and more interested in talking to each other than customers. I wanted to use the ladies room, but there was a sign on the door saying out of service. I paid and left very dissatisfied with the whole experience. This business should not be called a Day Spa because it wasn't anything like any spa I've been to, and I've been to several.. there was no feeling of care or interest in serving customers. I would never go back to this place again or recommend it and felt that the whole experience was a waste of time and money. read more

I had a massage with Kim for the first time and I think I've found the person I want to continue getting massages with. I did a 90 minute Montowese Rain massage and it was the right decision. The oils smelled wonderful and the sage smudging was super nice. I never felt rushed and in fact even fell asleep for a few minutes which I can say has not happened to me before in a massage. I want to start off by saying Alla is the absolute best! She is a Licensed Massage and Neuromuscular Massage Therapist. Alla is very very sweet and knows what she is doing! My boyfriend and I visited Rain for the first time today for his birthday. We had a 60 Minute Couples Swedish Massage, followed by 45 minutes in the Salt Cave. I really can't say enough about Alla. Her pressure is perfect and what she did on my neck and head was amazing! My boyfriend suffers from constant neck and back pain and was very happy with his masseuse Theresa as well! The reason I gave four stars and not five is because there is always room for improvement! There is carpet everywhere which made the small rooms feel even smaller and the hallways and relaxation room feel a bit dingy. At least put hardwood through the heavy traffic areas. The relaxation room offered tea and water but the water was warm and almost out. There is a fridge in the relaxation room that should have been stocked with bottled water but has two cans of whipped cream in it instead. Just some food for thought! She always does a great job and I can see and feel the difference in my skin. The healing waters is a little more expensive than others but includes so much in the price. Did a great spa day with my niece here. Theresa gave me one of the best deep tissue massages I've had in a long time. Heidi did my Fire and Ice facial, my skin has been glowing for days. My niece really liked her services too. Her "teenage skin" looked great after a couple days of healing from extractions, a good cleansing of her pores was needed and set her up for clearer skin days. Probably the worst facial I have ever had (and I've had a few). Esthetician didn't introduce herself, was 25mins late, and didn't perform aspects of the facial that was advertised on the site. I usually get a partial massage with a mask on but instead spent a good 20 mins waiting for nothing to happen. This spa is really nice. I love the location and the people are really nice that work here. Downside is I had a facial in the room near the nail area and all I could hear was the women getting pedicures laughing and chatting. I was annoyed. I had come here to relax and I just couldn't. The esthetician was clearing out blackheads and went on the upper nose near my eye area and apparently didn't clear it enough or should have left it alone. I had 4-5 days of a huge mass of little whiteheads that were stuck under my skin and a swollen eye for just as long. I looked like I got a lip injection under my eye! It was ridiculous and painful as heck! The day after my facial my face felt bruised everywhere she was squeezing to clear my skin. I've never had my skin feel bruised like that after a facial. I'm sure everyone else has had great experiences here, but I had to be honest. read more

I have been going to Rain Spa for facials the last two years. I HIGHLY recommend the Esthetician, who's name is Xiomara. She totally is gifted and loves what she does for a living. The Spa itself has a lovely waiting room, serving tea with soft music and the sound of water that allows one to totally let go of any stress. Along with the facial she gives a foot rub. In all honesty, when I leave I feel more confident. I get the Organic Rain facial . I lived in Los Angeles and Ojai California and have tried many Spa's and I would put Xiomara as the best. I would give 5 stars for Susan my massage therapist and 5 stars for Whitney my Esthetician but I'm giving 1 star for the experience. I was given a gift certificate for a full day of the Indulgence Package which include a full body massage for 60 minutes, a deep pore cleansing European style facial, a manicure, and spa pedicure. All these services were impeccable and relaxing . But I felt very stressed in the "Relaxation" room waiting in between services . I only wore a robe for my full day experience and after changing from street clothes to my spa robe which was very thin and slippers I waited alone in the relaxation room at the beginning of the day for my massage . Afterward I was to wait again and relax in between services and there were 3 people in street clothes waiting for other services and I felt very uncomfortable being in a thin robe and I had to listen to 2 woman arguing about if the should go to Lenny's for lunch and the male I sat across while I'm trying to make sure my robe does not open up. They were all in their cell phones and talking and one woman had her sneakers on the chase lounge I was just laying on with my bare legs. All the glasses were dirty and piling up . The cucumber water tasted terrible and the refrigerator did not have bottled water but 2 gross cans of old whipped cream. The hot tea water was Luke warm. After my facial it only got worse in this so called relaxation room, again it was full of people in street clothes waiting for services and this time a young girl comes in with my lunch that was included and it's on a tray and I'm to eat it off my lap , no table and I did not order it. Chicken over salad and the chicken was hard and the salad tasted very old. If it was a very good lunch it was very awkward eating it in this tiny "relaxation " room off my lap with people staring at me. Apparently people in street clothes were waiting for waxing, the salt cave and nail services. Every day spa I have ever been to had a separate, clean, quiet, and relaxing room. This is the only reason why I would not come back or recommend this place for a full day experience. I would recommend for individual services . My gift certificate was for $360 and I was not very relaxing at all . Also the view from the "relaxation " room was a parked SUV and right behind it is the woods and lake ; I could not see this beautiful view but I did see a white Jeep . read more

I love Rain Spa. Everyone is very friendly and good at what they do. The facility is also very clean. I've had waxing, facials, and a pedicure, and they've all been relaxing. One of my favorite things about going is the products they use - everything is natural and smells incredible. They carry the ilike and FarmHouse Fresh brands, and I've bought some to take home with me. No one has tried pushing products on me, and the relax room is lovely. I come here for the best massages from Kelly. I've had 90 minute deep tissues and most recently an hour pre-natal. Both were so perfect and offered the optimal amount of pressure and intensity. The pre-natal had these wonderful pillows on the bed with cutouts for the breasts and belly. They were extremely comfortable! Oh so satisfying. I say the extra half hour is worth the money. read more
