I noticed that my car was louder than before so I assumed that it was time to get a transmission fluid change since it's been long overdue. I called rainbow auto and Mario told me that he could take care of me the same day. After a quick test drive he diagnosed the issue right away and notified me that it wasn't my transmission, instead it was a broken ball bearing that was making that sound that had been haunting me for weeks. He broke down the pricing in a clear and concise manner, ordered the part, and was very transparent about the issue. Location: located on Meekland nestled among tons of other auto shops, but relatively easy to find off 880's A street exit. It's also rly close to a school & park. Service: Philip and his team are so amazing! My car was basically totalled when I brought it here because someone had rear ended me on the freeway. Philip was able to explain everything that needed to be done & all the costs in layman's terms so I would understand. I'm no car expert but I really appreciated that he was able to explain in a way I could understand. My car was finished in just a few days & looked completely brand new. He also dealt with all the insurance issues, car rental etc which made things a lot easier for me. He's super experienced, friendly & accommodating. It's been almost 2 years since i got my car fixed from here, and nearly every issue I have had with my car since has had some kind of issue, replacing, or fixing. Im not sure why they are so highly recommended. After having my car towed there, they did not notify me of its arrival and had no clue it had even arrived. I had even gone as far as going there personally, then seeing my car being the 2nd furthest from the entrance, then going in and having to point out my car had already arrived because they didnt even know it was there. I could see it from their own front office. They never notified me of any changes or updates during the fix and would give me vague or inaccurate estimates on when things would be done. Every time, i would have to call or go in for answers. No matter how many times they tried to reassure me, they would definitely get back to me. After they "fixed" the car, the splash guard on the wheel well fell off on day one. After a few months, my personal mechanic told me the thermostat was faulty and needed fixing, which this place said they replaced, fixed, and was 100% even after I expressed concern for it after day 2 of driving it. Some of the smaller details have begun peeling or cracking a year in. And today, the front bumper fell off partially from I'm not even sure what, perhaps heat? I do not recommend this place. read more

I love this place. I've had so many bad experiences at Car shops! The people at Rainbow auto are legit! They are super laid back but get the job done at a great price! They explain everything thoroughly which is amazing because some places are just like "yea, yea ok. I'll get it done" then come out of left field with something crazy. Something did come up when they were doing my service but they called right away and didn't try to make us feel like we had to do it or our car was going to explode or something. We went ahead and told them to do whatever you have to do. That's how much we trust them. Plus, I just called them to have them send me some records from half a year ago and after verifying my identity they sent it over right away. The other shop I used to go to made me go in person to pick them up! I suggest you don't look any further and give these guys a call. read more

Car was there for almost 3 months. Every time I called, mechanic and receptionist (Frances?) said they'd call me back but never did. I thought this shop being in-network with my insurance will expedite the process. However, I had to coordinate between insurance (supplements) on their behalf too due to lack of priority on my car. After getting a false date from them on when I could get back my car, I was done and just went there the following Tuesday to see if they're at least working on it. Surprise surprise- my car was finally fixed and still no one was calling me. This is the worst body shop experience that I've had/heard from family and friends. If I could give 0/5, I would. I have to give these guys 5 stars. They matched the paint on my Porsche perfectly and it still looks perfect a year later. I was very picky about the work and the staff was cool about it and did everything just right. Hard to believe some guy gets on here and gives them 1 star for not getting a free estimate. So many cheap people out in the world, they outnumber generous folks 10-1. Anyways, Rainbow doesn't do cheap work...or give free estimates as I have learned here on Yelp. The insurance company identified this as an approved shop so I took the vehical in for them to take a look and give me an estimate - which was done while I waited by Philip the owner. He identified several things that the Insurance company estimate did not, promised and delivered on handling all the paperwork and dealing with the insurance company. Me/insurance paid for a full repaint of a rear bumper, instead this shop decided to do a patch job on the damage and spray clear over instead of repainting the entire thing, and they still charged for the full job. Extremely shady and poorly run shop. I'd never go here again. They also did a poor job color matching the metallic flake, which is what made it so obvious to see which part was painted by them and which was the original OEM paint. read more

Another overdue review, but Jose and his crew deserve it. Let me just say that Peter, runs the most honest and thorough repair shop that I have encountered. Although it took a while to determine the cause of the problem, he insisted on working on this until he did find it. I suspect that this is unlike many shops where they will only patch up the problem without getting to the real cause. He was also very fair with his pricing and proided me with options so that I knew what the repair costs would be. He even re-attached the fuel cap without my asking him (I had totally forgotten that the cap became detached!) What makes him the best is this...soon after I got my car back, the "check engine" light came on again, and I contacted him, He asked me to bring it back so that he could check it. Somehow the issue resolved itself (after he ran the diagnostics)...maybe my car is just weird. But when I asked him what the fee was for returning my car for further work, he said he wouldn't charge me. While many other shops will charge simply for the labor, Peter is willing to stand behind his work and fix the problem until it is fixed, period. I wholeheartedly support this business and will return for any other car issues I encounter. read more

I took my truck to this shop for a second estimate because I had already taken it somewhere else and the estimate was too low, Rainbow Auto Center told me to leave my name, number, and to sign a paper to leave my truck for the estimate. While I was making calls to my insurance to see what they would cover following the accident, after 2 days the shop was working on my truck and had stripped the hood without calling me and receiving authorization so I asked to have the put back together, but they "lost" multiple parts that were originally on my truck... now im forced to deal with this issue by asking the owner to buy the parts that were lost from my truck. I do not recommend this shop to anybody unless you have a signed paper telling the shop to not work on your vehicle without permission. read more
