From the very beginning to the very last day of my son I am very thankful to Mrs. Toke and to all of the teachers in this preschool. They really take their time to teach children at their young age. We love Rainbow!! My daughter attended when she was 1 1/2 and the care and attention from all teachers in the 4 yrs she's been there have been wonderful! I still remember the first week when she started and I would call everyday to see how she was doing. Not once did Ms Toke or her room teachers get annoyed or even sound annoyed with my excessive calls (I was a 1st time parent then). We got a daily report the first few weeks on whether she ate, played, napped and her general mood until we felt comfortable. I also appreciated the open door policy which allowed us to drop in at anytime throughout the day without advance notice. My daughter started Kindergarten this past year and we see 1st hand how well Rainbow had prepared her academically. She wasn't much of a talker but she felt loved and supported. She always asks to go visit her teachers and gets to see them once in awhile when we pick up my son. We'll be sad to say goodbye to everyone when he moves on to Kinder in a few years. read more

My son went to Rainbow from the time he was 4 months until 5 1/2. The owner is great! The staff is friendly and caring. My son learned everything he needed to know and still had the experience of being a child. The rooms are at appropriate temperatures, always clean, and the best play area! Plus, it's a safe place you can't just park and view kids, you have to go through with a gate code. My two sons went through Rainbow since the infant room. I have spent my 7 years at this wonderful school. I just had to say good-bye in June because my youngest will be starting TK at a new school in August. It was very emotional for me. All the teachers are very friendly and loved both my boys. They became my family and always will be. Mrs. Toke runs a strict place. She stays on top of the policies and guidelines to run the school. My Child attended this school in Spring 2016. I enrolled my child at this school because it was super close to my job and convenient for me. The building looks like a castle so I fell in love with it! Lovely school buildings! The staff was nice but the owner or supervisor was horrible. I can't remember her name. I've heard how she talks to her employees. If she talks to her employees like that, I wonder how she speaks to the students. Horrible environment and business. I hope they made changes! read more

After 4 years attending Rainbow Learning Center my grandson just started tk. While we are delighted about this we are sad to have to say goodbye to Rainbow Learning Center and its staff. I cannot say enough good things about this preschool. It is efficiently run with warmth and care by Toke Smith, who is completely hands on. The teachers are excellent, kind and nurturing. The facility is clean and welcoming; the rooms are large, clean, and always decorated appropriately. Everything is clearly communicated, which is so nice. My son loves it here and has learned so much in a few short months. Beyond the letters, writing, art, and all the usual material you find in the preschool curriculum, Toke provides other activities for students. They can take karate once a week or gymnastics/dance, both through outside sources who come to the school. It's great to be able to expose your kid to something without having to drive him/her someplace else to do it. She had a fall festival one night, she's had jumpers/bouncers there a couple of times, she had a pony company come and do pony rides/pictures one day, there was a Halloween parade, and there will be a Christmas show. Summer is a special schedule with a different activity for each day of the week: water play, easel painting, movie day, etc. Cost is very reasonable, especially since breakfast and lunch are included. However, you can bring your own food and snacks too. This is a wonderful place to take your kids and feel secure in the fact that they are well cared for and are learning, both socially and mentally. We loved it here! My son started after having a bad experience elsewhere and he immediately felt at home as did we. Our daughter started at 4 months and she loved every minute of her 16 months there. We are only leaving because we moved and I left my job but we highly highly recommend them to anyone looking for a curriculum based school with loving teachers. read more

I took my son here for a month and he loved it. The staff is great and ms.toke is amazing I truly have never felt so safe leaving my child anywhere. Although I can't take my son back there due to issues with the type of work and this location is way off from where I'm going to be working at I recommend this place for mothers. I hope I can find another daycare center as amazing as this. Thank you miss Christiana and all the wonderful staff and patience you all had with my son. Literally had tears his last day. Absolutely love the daycare/preschool and the staff. Ms. Toke was so welcoming when we first visited the school to check it out for my 4-year old son. Needless to say, he was attending the following week! All the teachers there are so great and patient with all the kids, and I loved all the activities they had for them each day, my son always woke up super excited to go to school and came home super happy telling me about his day. Their facilities are clean, neat, and well kept which is a huge plus for me. I love that they taught different subjects - my son came home telling me about how caterpillars turn into butterflies, and how volcanoes spew hot lava..so it was really great to see that they weren't just playing all day. Was definitely sad to go, but I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for care for their children. read more

My son has been attending Rainbow Early Learning Center since he was 3 months old. He is now 5 years old and moving on to Kindergarten. Throughout our entire time at RELC, my son has grown academically, socially and emotionally under the care of Toke and her staff of teachers. Best daycare/preschool my kids went too. Words can't express how my I love this center and there staff. I felt like they were family to me and my kids. Ms Toky is so amazing. I will never forget how she would deal with my son because he had breathing spells. It's sad we had to leave this place because my kids loved being there. I took my daughter there when she was 17 months but for unrelated reasons we had to say goodbye just before she turned 2. I however always felt the love and affection from all the teachers and although my daughter had a hard time saying good bye to me in the beginning she later adjusted and overtime would ask to go there. Every time I picked her up she was always happy she also learned how to count to 10 and her abc's at 21 months Mrs. Toke was always nice and helpful would call to check if my daughter was ok when ever she would miss school I really miss the learning center and actually thinking of taking my baby back before my fall semester in college begins. read more

My son started this school a few months ago and I have nothing but good things to say about it. My search for a school started when my son was 3 1/2 years old and I felt that it was better to get him into a preschool, rather than have my mother in law continue to watch him. She had been watching him full time since he was 2 1/2 months old and I had to go back to work. I was basically driving myself crazy looking for a preschool that I would feel safe leaving him at. I looked at reviews, asked friends and family if they had any recommendations, but every time I went to see a facility I immediately didn't like it for some reason or another. That's until I saw Rainbow Early Learning Center. The rooms are big and clean, nicely air conditioned, and the play area outside is clean and in covered. Mrs. Toke suggested I bring my son to see the preschool so that he could get used to it before he started. It was a big adjustment for him at first, since he's shy and it takes a while for him to warm up to strangers. After the first week he no longer cried and he absolutely loves it! His teacher Mrs. Misty is great and always let's you know what's going on. I've never met his morning aide, but the afternoon aide, Ms. Julie, is great also. Mrs. Toke knows every child by name and is very involved. They have so many activities and my son has been so much better socializing with other kids and has learned a lot also. It's a good balance between kids having fun and learning. He has homework every week that we do with him, as well as work that he does in class. They've had pajama day, banana split day, bouncer days, etc. I'm so happy I found this school. BTW...this is the first review I've ever written, but did so because I rely on other people and really felt strongly about this school. I've even recommended it to a coworker and when she looked it up and told me there was a bad review, I couldn't believe it. I know everyone has their own personal experience and opinion, but I felt I should share mine. I have no complaints and my son loves this school. read more

I will write another review here on YELP for Rainbow Early Learning Center as my first review written earlier last year (along with other favorable reviews by other parents) have been "filtered" by YELP. Funny how the negative ones don't get "filtered"... Anyways -- my daughter was at RELC from Aug 2009 through July 2012. In those 3 years, never once did I every feel hesitant about leaving my daughter in their care. All the teachers and assistants were caring, attentive, open to special requests, and kind. The facility itself is very clean with lots of space for all the children - both indoors and outdoors. There are 6 different rooms depending on the children's ages: infant, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year old rooms. Each room is equipped with age appropriate toys, books, etc. What I liked very much was that the children's playground was far away from the street so people walking by could not see the children playing. The only way to enter the "campus" was through a key-pad locked gate. When the children are on the playground, there are several gates to go through -- gates with latches that are not accessible by the children for safey purposes. I packed my daughter small snacks in a lunch box but what is included in the tuition is breakfast, snacks and hot lunch. Hot lunch might be buttered noodles, chicken nuggets, vegetables, milk, etc. It was here where my picky eater started venturing out and eating a more variety of foods because the other children were doing so. For the reviewer who said her 2 year old wasn't "being educated", I'm not quite sure what her expectations were. When my daughter was two, she was learning songs, colors, numbers, how to share with others -- very age appropriate "education". When my daughter started Kindergarten, she was already counting up to almost 100 and writing her name. In the 4 y.o. class and 5 y.o. class, there was very age appropriate "homework". And crafts....always doing crafts! We still have some outstanding masterpieces from RELC. During the school year, my daughter participated once weekly in the onsite dance/gymnastics class and the onsite Karate class. There was an additional cost for this but she enjoyed it and we have great memories of the recitals. It was so convenient to have RELC available year round --- during Sept-June, they followed an educational curriculum and during the summer, they had water days and other activities (just no homework during the summer!). What I also appreciate from Mrs. Toke and the staff is their "open door policy". We could drop our daughter off at any time from 7am on and pick her up anytime before 6pm. Sometimes on my days off, I would drop our daughter off at 10am and stay for an hour watching them paint eggs, etc. I was never asked to leave and felt welcome watching or helping out with all the kids. I was there for some precious moments that other places would not be open to sharing. Is anyplace perfect? Absolutely not...there were times my daughter was scratched or bit by another child -- but it was handled, and we were informed by "boo-boo" reports. Things happen in any place. We brought our daughter home from Russia when she was two years old and when I had to go back to work, RELC was the first place we had to leave her outside the care of family. It felt traumatic at the time leaving our one and only child but at the end of the day, she learned so much, so fast and was happy and safe. There wasn't much more I could have asked for. Overall, I have to give two thumbs up to Rainbow Early Learning Center and have felt confident enough to recommend other friends to RELC. read more

I'm a Mother of 3 handsome boys, my first did not attend Rainbow Learning Center-unfortunately, however my soon to be graduate has attended this amazing school since he was 3 years old. i cant say enough about this school and its fabulous tip top teachers. Mrs. Misty is so nice and patient and so dedicated with all her students. she always reassured me my son was safe and he loved her class, anytime she needed to let me know about something she always communicated with me-professionally, which I admired about her so much. Ms. Maureen and Ms. Reena also made such a positive influence in my sons education.They have worked so close and committed in building such a strong learning foundation for my son, that i know he is kindergarten ready. He has grown and learned so much. They are always doing activities, which we enjoy being part of. like their annual carnival - bouncy houses, Holiday Parties, Planting, Karate, Dance, fun dress up days, pony pictures, vintage pictures,vision checks, Child ID cards, baking day, mothers/fathers day gifts, pajama party theme day . They provide a nutritious breakfast,lunch and Snack. All the students are cared for on such a loving level. all the teachers and staff are welcoming and so supportive towards their students and the families. My youngest has been attending since he was 4 months old. All the ladies in the nursery care room are so amazing they work so hard to make sure that each little one is well taken care of.. communication is a plus... they are always on top of everything- making sure that each baby is safe, This room is so clean and spotless talk about organized... WOW!! each baby is happy. My son is well taken care of because no matter what time i pick him up .. he is one happy little man, sometimes i feel like he is sad to leave... he loves it there. I feel at peace knowing that all the ladies will care for my little man - as if he were their baby. I have not had any complaint whatsoever. My husband and i are 100 % satisfied with the care and education that our children are and have received here with Mrs. Toke. Mrs. Toke is very professional, and so understanding. very dedicated in her career. she is always doing new and fun things. She is always available if you have a question- and she knows ALL her students!! and parents THAT'S AMAZING !! :) bottom line: this is the perfect place for children. THE BEST!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILD. YOU WILL NOT REGRET. I loved having our little one here age 3-5. She learned so much is Ms. Misty's class and made several best friends who she still keeps in touch with after going off to kindergarten. Here, she perfected writing her name, learning her colors and shapes, as well as her ABCs. She can identify and write all of her letters, she learned about our solar system and the importance of holidays like Memorial Day and the 4th of July. The care she received was amazing. Her teachers were always approachable, kind, and let us know any time there was an issue. If our not always angelic little one was having off days, we were informed about it to help the teachers work with her in correcting this behavior. I never witnessed any mistreatment and appreciated that the teachers were stern but not mean or hateful when the children got out of line. There was rarely an incident that went without notice and I've come early and peeked in on classes too and never saw any misconduct by the teachers. Sometimes the children do run a little wild, but they are children. They are always safe and Ms. Toke makes it a top priority to speak with you if anything does happen. I will agree that some of the other teachers are less "affectionate" than others, but barely. That means that while one child may fall and bump their knee (and it's the end of the world to them, but they're fine) one teacher may console them for 5 minutes and give them a hug while the other may check for any damage, see that they are fine, and encourage them to get back to it. That's about it. Our child's complaints were never about her teachers and only about other kids that may have caused disruptions or were mean to them, which I have seen firsthand happen and also be quickly dealt with by the teachers. They have a strict no bullying policy and the children are taught manners and respect. read more

My son (almost 2 yrs old) loves it here! Great staff! We're SO happy because he's learning and developing good social skills. We had him at another preschool and it was awful. Fortunately, Ms Toke helped us understand there was nothing wrong with our son. The staff at Rainbow Learning Center understood our son's needs. They were patient with him as he adjusted to preschool. Ms. Toke and the teachers gave us confidence in knowing that our son was in good hands. They're extremely nice and we feel happy knowing that he's at a good school/daycare. He's very happy and I would highly recommend this place. He's making great strides in learning. All the teachers are wonderful! He is especially fond of Ms.Sally. My husband is a doctor and I teach at a local university. My two daughters have been attending Rainbow, and all I can say is that I am very satisfied with the preschool (service, facility and staff). #1. Staff is very responsible and caring. #2. Facility is great. They have nice and clean rooms, and very nice playgrounds for young and older children. I have to say that this is the best facility in the area in terms of size, cleanness, and equipment. and #3. Preschool learning activities are very good. My older daughter graduated from Rainbow and she was very well prepared for Kinder. Overall, this is a great place for kids, and I highly recommend it. My daughter had been going to Rainbow since she was 3 months old and loved every minute. She is now 2 and to see how much she has learned and grown from this school is amazing. My daughter can be a handful but her teachers always showed her so much love and care. When my daughter was in the baby room she had a hard time napping without my wife and I but Ms. Teresa really went above and beyond to put her to sleep and make her feel at home. All the baby room teachers are so sweet and kind. My wife was worried when our daughter moved to the toddler room but the teachers have taught her so much and reply kept us in the loop and cared for our daughters needs. We recently moved to Santa Monica due to my work but if I could send her to Rainbow again I would. When we left my daughter was in the 2 year old room with ms. Cristina, Ms. Nadia and ms. Norma. Without them I don't think daughter would be potty trained by now. They are all so loving and they care for the children as if they were their own. Ms. Cristina is such a sweet lady our daughter was very attached to her and will miss her. As a father of a little girl, my daughter means the world to me and I'm so thankful rainbow took such good care of her. Her next school has big shoes to fill. I think this place is fabulous! Ms. Toke and the staff are very great with my child, I couldn't ask for more. Our child (whom is now graduating into Kindergarten) has been at this school since 18 months of age and they feed nutritious meals and teach well, I am amazed how much my child learns while at this school. I have never had any issues and while my child is here all day they have told me great things my child has done and the not so great things which we can try to correct at home. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who needs a great Preschool with nurturing staff! read more

My daughter Kennedy started going to Rainbow in June of 2012 when she was 2 years old. We enrolled her for social skills and to interact with other kids as she was the only child at the time. i can not say enough about the teachers in the 2 year old class. Kennedy got so attached to Ms. Cristina. Ms. Cristina nurtured her as if it were her own kid. Kennedy was scared and would cry in the beginning when we would drop her off, but as soon as she saw Ms. Cristina walk in the classroom, she would stop crying. Later on Ms. Shiva came on and she too treated Kennedy very good, nurturing with her, and most importantly, very patient with her as she was a scared deer. As time went on, we saw Kennedy improve on her social skills, colored so perfectly with detail, knew her numbers, her alphabet, colors, shapes, animals, i mean, you name it in such short amount of time. The time they spent on each kid was incredible. There was a time when Kennedy and another kid got into a kid fight, i think with pushing, and Kennedy got scratched, but kids are kids. it's gonna happen. But i did receive a note of the incident and i really appreciated the honesty. No big deal, kids fight at schools, at home, anywhere, i mean, they're only 2 years old! Kennedy has also learned going to potty time, and i appreciate Rainbow helping me with starting to train her because she spends most of her time at school and i just take over the training at home, but i'm so glad they got her started first. She has never come home with a rash, due to having dirty diapers, every time i pick her up, she is changed. she is always clean, if she's dirty, we always have a set of back up clothes at school, or they will provide something for her if we don't have one. one thing i love about the school, aside from the teachers, which they do teach the kids, otherwise, how else would my 2 year old come home knowing a color or # i didn't go over with at home, is the amount of activities they have every week and month. Kennedy enjoys pajama days, take your favorite book day, her favorite was pony picture day! just recently they has school pictures and loved it as well. for the holidays they arranged a halloween bash, christmas show, they have pot lucks, they decorate the school according to each holiday. i would highly recommend Rainbow to any of my friends. Ms. Toke always has time to speak to us about any concerns we have with Kennedy. She always has suggestions, for example, she just got moved to the 3 year old class. they were so patient with her to make it a smooth transition. they moved her in there slowly, especially because of how close she was with Ms. Cristina. her new teacher Ms. Stephanie is great with her as well. we are in the process of taking our 1 year old son in the infant room and look forward to him going there. read more

I have two daughters that attend Rainbow. One has just recently moved on to Kindergarten and was bittersweet because she misses her old friends and teachers. My three year old is still attending and up to this point there has been no complaints. From the toddler room to preschool, it has been nothing but a joy. Right away you start to see the things they are learning and the artwork they enjoy doing everyday. Within days they were already coming home counting and being more interactive. The teachers are just wonderful and are always available to speak with regarding my daughters' progress. Rainbow offers so many activities like dance class and karate. Every month you get a new letter so you always up to date. The place is very clean and organized. read more
