With the COVID 19 situation and needing some diversity in my meals, ordering from China Wok in Gateway Commons seemed like a good choice and it did not disappoint. Supporting a local business was a plus. Ordering is done at the counter, some of the items available are posted with photos but the rest of the available menu are on the paper takeout menu as well as on the website. We ordered the four seasons which had chicken, pork, beef and shrimp. It came with plenty of veggies too and white rice. The portion was huge. We also went with the lunch sized portion of beef and broccoli. This came with either white or fried rice and an eggroll. Again, the portion was good sized which meant leftovers!!! Besides the portion size, the quality of the food was great and it tasted great. The prices are reasonable and the service friendly. The food is cooked after you order and was prepared fairly fast. This is somewhere we'd return and try other menu items next time. read more

6 tables and all but one was dirty. I requested that the table where I sat be wipe. The cashier ran towel under the faucet and wiped my table, not the others. Restaurant needs to become familiar and use SERVSAFE standards for food service. read more

Had a great dinner at China Wok! We tried the PuPu Platter to get a sampling of appetizers. Everything was fresh and crispy! We also tried the Kung Pao Chicken, which was hot, fresh, and spicy! The sweet and sour chicken and chicken Lo mein were also fantastic! We'll definitely be back! read more

Been to location a few times, after the first time I repeatedly requested my shrimp be cooked longer, crispy because EVERY time you bite into it you get gooey dough, not cooked long enough, I give them one more chance today, even giving a 33% tip. This place is about as good as it gets to Chinese food here in the wake forest area. We lived in Maryland and my husbands Filipino so were a bit particular about our Chinese. We typically order Lo mein, egg rolls and general tsos. Last time we got the crispy beef because of some recommendations on here and it was REALLY good. The beef was crispy but flavored in a sauce very similar to general tsos. I had never had it before but will definitely order it again. I love the veggie lo mein because its packed with lots of veggies. They do NOT skimp outon them! Service is about average of what you can expect for a take out place. But your food is always cooked promptly. I've never waited for any really amount of time. It's always pretty clean inside when I pick up my food! I just wish they would deliver!! read more

Disappointing first take out experience. We got a couple of large fried rice with shrimp. The only thing 8n it was rice, something that'd made it yellow, and some small shrimp. There was no flavor at all and it was extremely oil laden. No other veggies in there like most places, and pretty disappointing. Both servings were like this. Ordered carryout from China Wok again tonight! We always get the crispy beef (so good!), sesame chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, beef with broccoli and General Tso chicken. Consistently good and reasonably priced. They are very generous with the portions and not skimpy on the protein part of the meals. We will continue to be regulars! read more

I have ordered take out from this place several times over the last year and absolutely love it. The have the best Crab Rangoons around. I would highly recommend that if you give it a try and plan on eating there dress on the cool side as it is always got but other than that the place is always clean and the staff is always friendly and they have never messed up an order. read more

I've ordered take out a few times now. The chicken is consistently soft and tender. This time I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combo. Tender white meat inside a crispy breading. The sauce is thick enough to coat the chicken, but not too thick or concentrated like some places I've tried. I ordered it without the vegetables. The rice is always cooked perfectly with a nice flavor. You can request pork or chicken in the fried rice. The pieces of meat are a tad larger than what I've had at past Chinese restaurants. It's a welcomed change too, because normally the meat is so small and chewy that I end up picking around the meat before I finish the rice. The egg roll is good. Nice crispy outside. I've had better, but not in NC. They stay pretty busy but it's never a long wait. Maybe 10-15 minutes tops pending what you order. read more

We came in and ordered two of the same orders. When we got home only half of the order was filled. When I drove back I had to pay for the second order and I asked if they could redo the wing order as one would be cooled down by the time I get home. She said they were still hot. Oh Well! Does not enforce masks during COVID. People kept coming in without masks and would sit at tables in large groups while they waited for their food. This is my favorite take out Chinese restaurant in Wake Forest. It's a little, family owned place located in Wake Forest's Gateway Commons, off of 98. It's not fancy but their prices are excellent and their food tasty. My favorite thing to get here is the Happy Family and House Special Lo Mein. My husband enjoys their Mongolian beef and he says that it has just the right amount of heat without it taking away from the flavor. They have a good selection of lunch specials and the prices are perfect for a quick and affordable lunch. What really stands out for me when I come here though is that the people at the counter are very friendly, even when they are busy. Yuckfoo. Tso's chicken must have got caught at the border in trade war tariff; the chicken was apparently removed. The thick batter was tender, but absent of chicken. Lomein tasted of 1970's chowmein, and eggrolls tasted bland and had wet mushy cabbage inside like those frozen eggroll hors d'ouvres we'd make back in college. My boyfriend and I wanted to eat something nice and treat ourselves. When we arrived they were nice. We ordered fried dumplings and chicken lo mein. We went and ate it later and felt weird considering we ate it but we just thought it was nerves. Later that night I threw up a couple times and my boyfriend said it might have been the excessive butter they put on it. But when I arrived at my place I didn't feel good again and got sick over and over again until nothing was left. My boyfriend let me know he didn't feel good as well. I went to China Wok after going to another nearby Chinese restaurant where I made a simple special request: vegetable fried rice with curry sauce and tofu that I've done before there. I told the other place that I ordered it there before. They asked me when. I answered 'the last time I was in.' They said how long ago? I answered a couple of months. They asked more questions. Terrible. I cancelled my order there. Okay, that's the setup for my coming to China Wok. I made the same order and didn't explain the background. They just took the order without a single question. I then told them what happened at the other place. The fellow taking my order told me that if they have the ingredients, they are happy to make whatever I want. THAT is what customer service is all about. As it turns out, their food was just as good as their service. We will drive just a little further to get our Chinese food here from now! read more

I had a chance to walk into this restaurant because I wanted to order some honey chicken and me being the observer that I am I was appalled by what I saw. I should have read the inspection report on here before I even stepped foot into this restaurant. I saw food on the floor in a bucket and the way that they handle their food is less than desirable. I walked out and never ordered. Please look at the inspection report before stepping foot into this restaurant. They have so many violations it's terrible. The General Tso Chicken was tender and tasty. Chicken Broccoli was a winner and I would recommend the Crispy Beef special. While iffy sounding, it was a good take on General Tso's Beef. I saw the recommendation from a transplanted New Yorker and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the sesame chicken. it wasn't a rock hard like in some other restaurants I've been to in the area. the chicken was soft and tender and the sauce had a good flavor. For a hole-in-the-wall Chinese takeout I absolutely give it 5 stars! The service was super friendly and the food delicious. I especially loved the vegetables that accompanied the dishes - not the usual few spears of soggy broccoli and carrots but big, still crispy chunks of bok choy, fresh mushrooms, and other goodies. The dipping sauce for the fried dumplings was thickened just enough that it coated them and very flavorful.
