Luzianne Cafe, which is based on the nostalgic tea brand of all our southern kiddos childhood, sits about two blocks off of Poydras at the corner of Constance and Girod, and is a bright, open, well maintained cafe serving up breakfast and lunch classics in addition to a full bar that includes frozen boozy drinks...because New Orleans! We checked into our nearby hotel a bit early in the day and was looking to hit the streets for a spot to get a chill/light breakfast, a coffee and maybe a cocktail. We found all the things at Luzianne Cafe. Whether you belly up to the bar or grab a table, both of which are first come first serve, you start at the counter where you order, pay and grab your table number. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices! Service was friendly and helpful at the counter/bar. The food runner was nice and then another member, assuming the Manager, that stopped by to check on us mid meal. She was super friendly and nice. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and drinks at Luzianne. Minor things noted, mainly on the cook of the eggs, but nothing awful. It his the spot and checked the boxes! read more

Came here for an early breakfast with my toddler and service was super friendly. Food was delicious, place had a lot of seating. I went by their recommendations and got the boudin Benedict, since that's not something I would find outside of NOLA. Got a huge sausage egg and cheese sandwich with the fluffiest eggs that was also super yummy. My 18 month old ate half of it. Would definitely return. read more

This was my first time in New Orleans and goodness I love it here! This particular place was a corner store and not sure how to pronounce the name, but they had a really good deal chicken and waffles for $15 a plate! Maybe it's just California where everything is $25 a plate! I really like their coffee options also And all self-serve. I really wanted to try there coffee but it had milk/cream in it so I was worried about my lactose intolerant self with the cream. Lol. Everything was very clean and I loved the old-fashioned coffee cans that were decorated around the area! I will go back to this coffee shop again!! And everything tasted delicious! Walked over from the Hilton. Egg -scrambled well done - tasty Bacon crispy - very flavorful Grits - the top part was very light but the base was solid and very gritty. A bit different but still tasty. Biscuit- tasted good. A little denser that I am use to but they use this for their sandwich so it needs the structure. I visited here based on Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. It was a 16 minute walk from my hotel but it was a beautiful day so I didn't mind. It's in a very quaint area. The restaurant was spacious and inviting. You can order at the counter or the table using a QR code. I ordered at the counter with a pleasant young lady and proceeded to sit near the window to get some sun. I ordered orange juice, a cafe au lait, fried chicken and waffles. I was handed my orange juice at the counter. My cafe au lait was delivered soon after I sat down and my chicken and waffles arrived about 15 mins later. The chicken was crispy and the waffle fluffy. The sauce used for the chicken was delicious. I probably should have asked what it was so I could bring some home. I would absolutely recommend. This place is big and clean with just the right amount of tables so you don't feel on top of the people next to you. Must be a NOLA thing but you place your order upon entering and they bring it to your table. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was the best chicken and waffles I've ever had!!!! They debone a thigh, which is not seasoned but cooked to perfection. The waffle is topped with pecan butter. Add syrup and you have the perfect brunch. I highly recommend this place. It was about a 14-minute walk from my hotel but was in the top 10 near me to try out for breakfast. I do believe I started my first meal in New Orleans just right! Very classic diner aesthetic and friendly staff. I'm sure I looked a little lost while looking around but bo worries the staff will be more than happy to assist with taking your order at the bar or you may put in a digital order by scanning the QR code at your table. I found the easiest version was to speak in person if you're anything like me. I tend to ask questions when it comes to a substitution or inquire about an unknown item. Although it has a southern home cooking style, there was clear balance to keep a lighter option available! I went for a late lunch and there were only a few other people in the restaurant. I wanted a shrimp Po' Boy and this was close to the hotel. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. The service was friendly and efficient. I was hungry as I hadn't eaten yet and the friend shrimp in the baguette looked sooo good. I put a bit of hot sauce on the shrimp and dove in. It was good though the bread was a bit dry on the ends. I ended up using a knife and fork to eat this sandwich because it was so big. In the end I couldn't even finish all the shrimp but I left with a happy tummy and ready to spend the day walking around this great city! During our stay in NOLA, we stopped by luzianne during lunch, and we were not disappointed! We wanted to try a po boy and so glad we got it here! The fried shrimp po boy had perfectly fried shrimps with light lettuce and tomato mix with some fresh pickled cucumbers and mayo! The buns were toasted and the combo was so good and fresh! We also ordered the fried chicken sandwich! The chicken was delicious and fried perfectly. The flavors were more acidic forward with some tart notes to it, more than I expected, but it all worked and was really good! The seating is free for all and the food was served really fast! This place is often overlooked and its a great little tourist stop. The prices are very good for the central business district; and in a city where it can be hard to get into places for breakfast, this place is more fast and efficient. Think of it more as a food hall, with counter service and the food is brought to your table. This is a great spot for someone who is heading to a convention and can't spend all morning at breakfast. The food is pretty solid and will give you just enough southern touch while still being a fully familiar menu. The coffee is excellent but mostly basic offerings. I'm an iced tea addict and enjoy that I can get my own refill and choose between sweet, unsweet, and mango tea. The best part is almost too understated - the cafe features the historic brands of French Market Coffee, Luzianne Tea, and Blue Plate Mayo. I would say that from a tourist perspective a lot of folks aren't that familiar with the brand heritage, and I would like to see more of the brand story within the building. But there is a retail area and old ads around the room if you are inclined to get better acquainted. read more

This place was so good after eating cruise food for 5 days. The inside is homey and spacious and we got our food pretty fast but it was a Thursday morning. I got the morning joy breakfast sandwich. I don't eat meat so I subbed for extra egg and it was so filling. The biscuit was fresh and buttery. I could barely finish my meal, I almost regret ordering hash browns in case I wasn't full. LOL. It has a very casual ambiance and a large seating area. The food was good, typical breakfast fare (they were out of some things) and the coffee was even better. I wanted to pickup some breakfast that was quick and easy, so I stopped by Luzianne Cafe for a bite. I arrived at Luzianne's around 7:30pm on a Saturday morning. The cafe was a cute and spacious spot with ample seating. Overall service was excellent. Staff members were so kind and friendly. My food and drinks order came out incredibly fast as well. By the time I placed my number on my table, I was already getting called for my drinks. Then when I turned around to head back to my table, my food was sitting there waiting for me! I ordered a 3 egg omelette with bell peppers, onions, and gouda cheese. It was exactly what I wanted. No frills, just a solid omelette. The eggs were thick and fluffy, the gouda cheese gave it a great saltiness and creaminess, and I got a nice crunch from the diced veggies. I loved that there were several options of iced tea!! The chicken salad salad was a light midday meal. Enough to get you through. The fried chicken sandwich was absolutely decadent. When it arrived I was disappointed by the size of it. It was small. The fried chicken was wet due to the sweet tiger sauce, so it wasn't crispy. The flavor of the sandwich was good though. The sweet tiger sauce reminded me of the Thai sweet sauce. The side buttermilk dressing was good tasting, though I didn't use it with my sandwich. I enjoyed my lunch here. read more

The chicken was small with more breading than chicken, the biscuit breakfast sandwich was on the dry side with American cheese that tasted manufactured, and the beignets were dry and somewhat stale. After seeing all the rave reviews, we were sorely disappointed. There was plenty of seating when we arrived. You order at counter or with QR. The mimosas were ready by the time we checked out at the counter, but are in plastic cups. You can get your own water and coffee. We had biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles. The biscuit and gravy were good, but had a skim on gravy and was just warm, not hot. That was the better of the two meals. The waffles were dry and not hot. The pecan butter did not melt on them, even under the scoop of butter that was on top of the waffle. The chicken was hot enough, but unremarkable and a small serving. Big seating area with tables seating up to 8, a little loud, but not as much as you would think from the look of the place. Overall, unless you don't want to walk farther, there are better places to eat in the area. I'd recommend Flamingo a GoGo as an alternative. They have bottomless mimosas and the chicken and waffles are much better and a bigger serving for just a few dollars more. However, it is noisy, but they make reservations and you get table service. read more

I should have gotten the Creole Calas (sweet rice fritters), but I was good and got an egg white omelette. High marks for good flavor (or was that just my artful picking as I "built my own"). The coffee was grand and worth coming even if you aren't hungry. Lots of helpful tips on other places to try while I was there as well, and the staff was friendly and prompt.
