My experience has never been with them. Unfortunately, the owner is the exception, and this experience completely changed my opinion of the salon. I called at 10:00 a.m. to schedule a simple manicure and pedicure for myself and my 6-year-old daughter for 1:00 p.m. When we arrived, the owner immediately insisted that I had never called. I calmly showed him my call log proving that I had called that morning. Instead of admitting the mistake or apologizing, he became visibly angry. Rather than simply fixing the situation, he had customers getting pedicures moved around while they were waiting for their nails to dry, creating unnecessary chaos throughout the salon. What made the experience even worse was that he repeatedly spoke to the staff in another language while everyone kept looking at me. I don't know exactly what was being said, but it was obvious I was the topic of conversation. I told him that it was making me feel uncomfortable, yet the staff simply smiled and continued. I felt embarrassed, singled out, and completely disrespected in front of a room full of people. The issue was never that a mistake happened. Mistakes happen. The problem was the complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic customer service. A simple apology would have gone a long way. Instead, I was made to feel like I had done something wrong when I had proof that I hadn't. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially in front of their child. After years of being a loyal customer, I will not be returning because of the owner's behavior. It's unfortunate, because the rest of the staff have always been wonderful. I hope the owner takes this seriously because no one deserves to be humiliated for a mistake the salon made.

Note they have different prices for cash versus credit. The fees and %-cut to credit make this a no-brainer. Plenty of banks nearby to have cash on hand and save yourself a little money. The facility is gorgeous. Very well decorated and airy, with a relaxing feel, almost like you are outside in a garden. The room is spacious compared to some other local spas; I didn't have to play Tetris to figure out where to put my shoes and bag. Nirvana Day Spa is definitely worth checking out.

Unfortunately, my experience at the Santa Monica location also left me with concerns about whether the people performing hair services were properly licensed. The name of who worked on my daughter's hair was Ariel. Overall, the lack of cleanliness and hygiene, along with my concerns about proper licensing, made me extremely uncomfortable. When you're paying a business for personal care and beauty services, you should be able to trust that the environment is clean, the tools being used on you are sanitary, and the people providing the services are properly qualified and licensed. Based on my personal experience, I would not feel comfortable returning to either location.
