PLEASE read my entire experience at Rainbow GMC before deciding to visit. I purchased a 2021 GMC Yukon from them. First time I looked at the vehicle was night time, drove it, didn't get a large amount of time to throughly check it out, but my wife and I really liked it. I went back a few days later to sign paperwork and finalize the deal. I told myself to do one more walk around the truck before signing papers. I walked around the truck with it running and heard a tick from the engine. As an owner of an automotive repair facility, I knew exactly what the noise was. The camshaft & lifters needed to be replaced. I called the salesman, who then called the sales manager and had them listen to the noise and they second guessed me but finally said they would bring it to service. Service department called me the next day saying I was correct the camshaft & lifters needed to be replaced. A week later the truck is ready, I go Halloween night to take possession of the vehicle, I get about 20 miles from the dealership on the interstate and the truck kills on me, I call the dealership and they send a tow truck and put me back in our trade in. I get a phone call 2 days later stating the battery was bad. Suspicious, I loaded my family up and left. We didn't make it a mile before the vehicle did the SAME EXACT THING. Again put us back in our trade in. I told them I need to be put in something comparable to what we bought. They didn't want to hear it and brushed me off. I told them about the recall on the engines and they said they will try. Few days later I get a call stating it's needs an engine but the engine is 3 months out! I told them I don't want the vehicle, they stated the deal had been funded and there was nothing they could do. So now my family and I are stuck in our trade In (a smaller vehicle), waiting for our vehicle to be fixed. A month goes by and I get a call the engine came in and truck is ready to go. I go pick it up and everything seems fine. My wife drives it for 2 days and air conditioning quits working. I called and told them I would be bringing it to my shop to look at it have my techs diagnose it, I was told "great because I'm sure the technicians here don't want to see that truck again" I was thinking "wow how unprofessional of a comment" even though I will NEVER bring my vehicle back to rainbow gmc after what my technicians found. The mount that holds the compressor was completely loose, the bolts were missing!!! This caused the plug that goes into the ac compressor to rip and shred the wires. This is extremely dangerous and could have caused additional issues if I didn't catch it soon enough. My skid plate bolts underneath the truck were missing, there is six total and I only had two holding it on. I have pictures and video of all of this. I sent it to my salesman and never heard back. He said someone from management would reach out and I haven't heard a thing from anyone. This dealership has been an absolute nightmare from day one. The customer service, financing to service department, all horrible, communication between each department is lacking. Lack of communication with me as a customer. Please Please! do yourself a favor and do NOT WASTE your valuable time at Rainbow GMC. There are plenty of other dealerships that will sincerely appreciate your business and provide you with the customer service experience you deserve! read more

I bought a Used certified GMC Sierra and last Friday, the 27th of June I called the service dept to ask a question about just diagnosing the issue. The girl who answered the phone said the service dept is busy and we will give the message and they will call back. No one called. I called on Sat, the 28th twice and the girl who answered the phone said she gave both my messages to the service dept. no call back. She turned me over to a manager Darren. He said just bring it in Monday. Can't wait. read more

Rainbow Northshore GMC - Car Dealers Near Me - Covington, Louisiana

Bought a 2018 GMC Youkon Denali from here and while the overall sales experience was ok, despite the fact they really didn't want to work with you on price or make any real concessions to get the business, the bigger issue I have is not being told about how ridiculous the depreciation on the vehicle would be. I understand their purpose is to sell vehicles but I can assure you I will never buy another GMC and certainly never buy anything from this dealership. I expect a responsible sales person to at least be up front and lay all of the cards on the table, which they certainly did not do. Well I did do some homework about the vehicle prior to purchasing it I didn't realize that barely a year and a half later it would be worth 30% less than what was paid (I've tried to trade it in and the offers are literally $25,000 less than I paid!!!). Everyone knows cars depreciate but this is highway robbery and I certainly would never have bought it had I known GMCs don't hold their value. Don't make the same mistake I did, look at the TRUE cost (including depreciation) before you get hooked into something like a crappy GMC. read more

I would highly recommend buying your GMC vehicle literally anywhere else. The lifters on my 2021 Yukon Denali failed after less than 11,000 miles. The dealership told us that they would only replace the bad lifters in one half of the engine and told us their hands were tied and we'd have to go through GMC's corporate office to open a case. Well we did that, and then corporate approved the full replacement but Rainbow refused to do it. So pretty much their hands weren't tied, they just wanted to do the wrong thing and blame it on the company. Probably because they told us they had 6 other vehicles in the shop with the same issue and didn't want to hold those up. We spent an entire week doing exactly what they said we need to do to get the problem resolved correctly, got recommendation we were told we needed from corporate, only for them to tell us that the $80k vehicle we bought from them will still be at risk of leaving my family stranded when the other set fails because they weren't going to take steps to prevent it. Moral of the story, I highly recommend Crown and Legacy GMC if you're in the market for a brand new GMC with know engine problems. read more

I've never had a great experience here but lately, it's been terrible. Had my Terrain in recently for almost 3 weeks, for two separate issues. First took it in and explained everything and they totally missed one issue so I had to leave it for a second time. Finally get to pick it up and I drive 3.3 miles away and the check engine light is back on. I leave a message with the receptionist because they've left for the day and get no call back. It's a weekend, now I have no car once again, and no communication to try to get this fixed. read more

I was looking in their lot and wanted to know the prices on a few vehicles. I went to the office and was greeted promptly. I told the guy that I just wanted prices and don't need to or want to look in any vehicle or test drive one. I gave him the makes of the vehicles of which I was interested. He said he'll be right back with the prices. I wait many minutes. I say out loud that it shouldn't take so long to get the prices. A new guy walks up and tries to help. Another guy tries to tell me that there aren't any lists with the car prices! What??? There was a computer sitting on the desk at which I was sitting. No list of prices? Original guy comes back. Starts asking salesman-type questions. This goes on for about two minutes when it was obvious that he was the spider and I was the fly in his web. He never did give the prices. Very disappointed with the value of this business. My elderly father-in-law took a vehicle in for a service check. They would not accept a $10.00 coupon and charged him $312.00 for an oil change, wipers, and two air filers. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

DO NOT BUY YOUR GMC HERE! I am very disappointed with how scummy this dealership is. I was trying to purchase a vehicle so I decided to call before going. I got the prices fully fleshed out through a phone call and was interested. Kerry, the person I was talking to understood that I lived 5 hours away and was interested in this vehicle for this exact price, we set a date and time to arrive at the dealership. Kerry magically disappeared when I arrived and I was assisted by a new person. This new salesmen claims that Kerry said none of those things on the phone and tried to get an extra 3k out of me. Understanding that this is a bait and switch tactic, I decided to leave knowing that they will try to get as much money out of me as they can. The fact that they gave us a hostile farewell shows me that they have no respect for the customer's time or money. Please do not support this dealership. read more

I called this dealership first thing in the morning telling them I am very interested in a truck they have for sale and asked how to start the process of buying it. The person I spoke to wasn't overly helpful and didnt seem to take me serious. After getting my finances in order I called back letting them know I was going to come the next day and drive the 4.5 hours to pick the truck up. I asked how I could secure the truck so that it was not sold. I was told they would send me a link to put a deposit down. After about 20 min of not getting an email I wrote them to ensure they had my email correct, they responded that they would not sell me the truck unless I financed through them. WHAT? I called and spoke with them, and I let them know I am a veteran and I use only my military bank for all my finances and loans. I was told the manager would call me in 30 min. After an hour passed and no one called me I called them back, only to have them tell me they will not sell it to me because I live out of state and because I will not finance with them. They also informed me that someone had shown up and they planned to sell the truck to them. This place is unprofessional and does not support veterans. read more

If it were possible to give Rainbow GMC LESS than one star I would! Over the course of the last TWO MONTHS Rainbow GMC has had my vehicle more than I have and the ONE problem it was brought in for still is not fixed. Every time I call in I get the exact same story, "it is one of a cluster of 5 sensors and the code is very difficult to track down". TWO MONTHS, ONE CODE, ONE SENSOR AND OVER $800.00 LATER THE ONE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED AND I'M STILL GETTING THE SAME EXCUSE!!! During this ridiculously long period of time I have had the opportunity to run this by not one but TWO ASE certified mechanics both with the same response "that's a ridiculous amount of time not to be able to find one code" and one even added "it sounds like BS to me" I'm to the point now where I just want my car and my $800.00 back so I can take the car somewhere that CAN fix it because obviously Rainbow GMC CAN NOT!!! read more

Brought my enclave in because my engine light came on. They informed me that evening I would need a new transmission. Thankfully I had a warranty. They immediately contacted the warranty company and processed the claim the same day had an inspector out the next. The second day they were able to order the transmission, received it the next day and started working on my car. They worked a day and a half on my car and got it back to me that evening. I had dropped my car off on a Monday and picked it up that Thursday! Amazing how quickly they were able to get this taken care of! Ozzy my service agent was great! He was honest, polite, and kept in contact with me. The mechanic even worked late to get my car to me as soon as possible! Thank you to the mechanic/mechanics that worked on my vehicle and stayed late! I appreciate you! And to the salesman who was outside when I picked my car up who brought me a washcloth to clean my seat off- thank you for great customer service! You don't see this type of customer service much anymore. All the way around I was provided customer service that exceeded my expectations! My car was serviced today for a defective condenser. I was 5,000 miles over the special extended warranty for this part. I asked to speak with the tech to get a better understanding of the repair. I could not speak directly to him but through the front desk clerk. Bad customer service. Do not buy a GMC. They do not stand behind their vehicles. The best thing about the service department is the shuttle driver, Herman. He is proof that there is still good people in this world. read more

I visited Rainbow GMC in Covington, LA to purchase a new Acadia for my family hoping to take advantage of specials they had expiring at the end of the year; I was able to accomplish that however the experience of dealing with their staff was so awful that I am willing to drive to Slidell to have the vehicle serviced from here on out. I had setup an appointment with the Internet Sales manager; a gentleman by the name of Jeff Vinson and agreed to a price on a specific model with some options added. Jeff was busy at the time of our appointment and passed us off to a Mr. Kerry Stevens. Kerry, though nice proceeded to take four and a half hours to sell us a car; knowing the whole time that we had somewhere to be by 3:30 PM (we arrived at the dealership at 1:00 PM that day) I know that I should have walked out after two hours but it just seemed like we were so close....... Kerry would say "I need to go get something / paper off the printer or your trade in quote" or something and disappear for upwards of 30 minutes at a time. Meanwhile my wife and I were left in a hot, uncomfortable room with a quickly tiring two year old and an 8 year old who, despite his best efforts could not keep himself occupied for 4+ hours without supervision in a car showroom. At 5:30 we drove off the lot with our new vehicle. Late to my sons event; we apologized and moved on. Part of the package was the installation of a trailer hitch and a thorough detailing of the vehicle, I confirmed a date with Kerry and arrange to drop the vehicle off two Mondays after the purchase (Monday before New Years Eve). I dropped off my brand new Acadia with him at about 8:45 on Monday and Kerry promised to call me with an update as to when it would be ready. I didn't hear from him that day so at 4:00 PM I called in and asked what time I could pickup my vehicle - his response was that it was on its way back from the install however wouldn't be done that day; a day I had sat at home waiting for him to call because I didn't want anything to happen to the loaner they had given me. So he tells me that the car will be ready at 11:00 AM Tuesday - fine I said I'll see you then. Meanwhile I gave the dealership a call back and spoke with the New Car Sales Manager Rue Bourgeois (SP) and explained to him my displeasure - I have not at this time heard back from him although he did promise to "follow up and get back to me" 11:00 AM came the next day...no car. My wife went to pick it up and when pressed Kerry produced our vehicle - hitch installed but left where they had finished it, he hadn't bothered to move it into line to be washed. So we got our car back without the detail job. At this point I owe Kerry and apology; I called him up and referenced his performance in this debacle as useless along with a few colorful expletives added to relieve my own anger. YMMV but our experience with these people is that they were slow; unresponsive and failed to meet customer expectations and their own promised deadlines on several occasions - I will do everything I can to make sure not another penny of my money goes to these people and I urge you to do the same. However we've been very happy with our Acadia thus far. read more

Worst experience ever with their service department. I spent $4k to replace the clutch in my sports car and my mother was kind enough to chip in $2k of it out the kindness of her heart. Well they wanted to hang on to the car until the "out of state" check cleared. Perfectly reasonable. Well the check cleared at least a week ago and they want me to somehow prove it on my end, wow! WTF, pretty sure that this 2020 but they are going to hold my car hostage now for God only knows how long because their accounting department is too incompetent to figure out that they got paid smh. I was planning on purchasing 4 new tires from them and a synthetic oil change for my p/up truck. I had already spent close to $300 on the sports car on a previous occasion and was going to use them on a permanent basis for service of both vehicles. Never ever again will I ever spend another dime at this place and I certainly wouldn't recommend them and will let anyone and everyone that will listen know how "jerked" around I got at this place. read more

Gross misrepresentation of vehicle in a attempt to sucker and rob the customer. At issue is a used listing of a very low mileage white exterior black interior convertible 1996 ZR1 corvette, listed on line in inventory for $19,000. GM never made such a car. No ZR1 was manufactured after 1995. Two special cars that year were the Grand Sport, Blue with a white center stripe and a Collector edition Silver convertible. This car is neither, but if it was it would still retail for only slightly more that book value. It is however a very clean, stock 1996 that is listed at Edmunds, Kelly and NADA for a dealer price of $8900 or less than half the asking. Do they think the public is totally stupid. As a past customer of this dealership of multiple vehicle purchases it makes me wonder what else the blatently lie about. Tell your friends. I have. read more

The service department at Rainbow was quick to my needs, and attentive in listening to my concerns. It was in the height of the Christmas season and they knew I needed it, and made it a priority. The car was in about 8 am and out about 11 am...You can't beat that. I was very pleased, and would recommend. read more

LAZY LAZY LAZY. It took forever for them to fix something minor on my vehicle. On top of that the service/parts department failed to contact me when it was actually finished, sent in a claim stating it was finished... I was then charged a late fee by Hertz because of this claim... when I wasn't even aware it was completed because nobody answers or calls anybody back on time there. THEN rats ate the interior of my car due to the car garage being disgusting and obviously filled with creatures. I would never go here. read more

I have had a very bad experience with Saturn Customer REPS. My 2006 Saturn Vue had been sluttering in low rpms (around 1500). I called Saturn customer service and found out a recall to reprogram the transmission module and replace the torque converter. I took it to the Rainbow GMC Delearship in Covington (985-892-2000) who worked on my car to fix the problem. The problem was fixed for a week and half. And then, BAM!, I have the exact same problem.This time it was worse, so I called the rep. JOEL (he worked on the car) who wanted me to pay a fee to look at the car and to fix it. So I tried calling the Customer Care (1800-972-8876) to see if tehy would save me from the ripoff. I talked to ASHLEY on 12/2/13 who insisted that I have to pay and there was no way around it. I asked her very polietly to put her in my shoes and fix the job that they did not do right. She just wanted me to pay more money. I am not a rich guy and I was not trying to get something out from them just like that. I just asked her to make sure the guys did what they were supposed to do. She was being very depanding and so I asked her if I could record the conversation, she became really defensive and and blamed me that it's been over a month and I'm complaining. But I talked to the other agent on Nov. 1 and got my car back around the 6th of 7th. I tried to call them last weekend but the lines were crazy because of thanksgiving. It's been less than a month and General Motors will not look over their mistake and fix it ? This is just sad. This is my 3rd car from GM and I'm done. I've never been dealt so bad before. Bad job, and a horrible customer service. I would have been satisfied if they just looked at what they did and made sure the quality of work they did was good. I was going to upload the audio, if Ashley(1800-972-8876 Ext: 40684) let me record it, but she went totally defensive and on a NO spree. She did not even tell me her ID# and was hesitant to give her extension out. Stay out of GMC. Seems like they've lost their sense of quality work, responsibility and honesty. We recently purchased a Sierra Denali from Rainbow GMC in Covington, a $60,000 investment for us. Two months AFTER taking possession of the vehicle, we find out just how the finance manager conducted himself with our transaction. The gross misrepresentation and misappropriation of our personal funds was very shady. In now their attempt to crawfish on where a cash payment they demanded ONE MONTH AFTER we took possession of the truck was to be applied, not only have they insulted our intelligence but also our lender calls letting us know the first payment is late. We DO NOT recommend this dealership and are also reporting our concern to the Better Business Bureau. We have given our salesperson, the GM of sales and the finance manager ample opportunity to correct their lie. However, they have chosen not to return our call with a resolution as promised. It is unfortunate we have had to resort to social media reviews to bring light to our experience with Rainbow GMC in Covington, LA. They certainly made a sale, but not a customer. read more

I called Rainbow Northshore GMC to schedule a maintenance appointment for my new 2014 GMC Acadia (less than a year old). It was time for an oil change but I have also been experiencing a brake problem. (not brake pads...an actual problem with my brake pedal.) I spoke with a receptionist in the service department who repeatedly told me I did not need an appointment for an oil change as they do it on a first come first serve basis. I proceeded to tell her that I travel daily with my 3 year old and I really needed my brakes checked. She assured me they would check them when I changed my oil because they would never send me on the road without knowing that my brakes were safe. I pulled up to the service department but was told they could not take me that day because they already had too many cars to service. So, I left, thinking I would just go another day. I went back 4 more times (even going first thing in the morning) and was told the same thing every time. On my 5th time there, I asked to speak with a manager. The receptionist called for him and described me as a "disgruntled customer" which surely I was aggravated but in no way rude or disrespectful. I waited 10 full minutes and no one ever came. I saw no manager that day. I left and immediately called Brian Harris GMC in Slidell. Being that my car is brand new and under warranty, I wanted service from a dealer. So, I drove to Slidell as they said they could see me right away.My family also owns a local business in which we purchase GMC trucks and vans and none of our vehicles will be purchased or serviced from Rainbow GMC of Covington. This is the first review we are writing as "disgruntled customers"; however, we have experienced other negative aspects of this dealership in past services and purchases. They do not support the needs of their customers. I will never go back to Rainbow GMC. read more
