Used the range while attending a firearms training and qualification class. Located right off the 15 freeway in Fallbrook, at the Rainbow exit just south of Temecula. Dirt road entrance to different outdoor ranges within the property. Ranges are unsupervised so it is imperative to bring a first aid/medical kit in case of emergency and bring a friend or family member with you and have an emergency plan every time you visit. Parking is limited, arriving early is best. A few porta potties are available by the office. Ear and eye protection are required on the property starting at 0900 in and around the ranges at all times. Plastic barrels are available for use, Wooden stationary bases to hang target sheets and markers, broom and buckets are available for cleanup. Bring your staple gun and target sheets!! read more

Rainbow Shooting Range is my favorite outdoor range. Several pistol and rifle ranges are available. The shotgun range has a cool thrower. My wife and I love to go plinking on steel targets with our 10/22's or .22 pistols. The upper pistol range utilizes paper targets. Targets, staplers, ear and eye protection are available at the range masters office along with snacks and beverages. Brass is your responsibility to pick up and all ranges are cleaned by the staff throughout the day. A lot of CCW training happens on weekends by your choice of instructors. This is a membership range where they are putting their trust in you to care for the range and be responsible so its obvious they are going to seem more strict then your typical indoor gun range, As a matter fact i feel safer here than in any other range ive been in or even out in BLM because everyone who is a member knows how to behave like responsible adults. I'm a young hispanic male, i feel like i have to say this because i saw a review saying they profiled him and insinuated they were racist so i feel the need to counter that statement with my personal 5 star experience. read more

Fudd Central. Too many rules that rob a good, fun and positive experience too. Their RSOs need to chill too. There was a short Asian dude that was just way too invasive on our small group. He wouldn't leave us alone long enough for us to shoot. Then, when we were finally able to put some rounds downrange, he comes screaming at us about drawing from our holsters. Pulled a whole agro/hall-monitor on us. Sorry man, maybe watch less Road House or something. We're just dudes that want to exercise some freedom. We're all duly qualified firearms instructors, and we know safe handling. This dude was purely on Tyranno-mode, and drooled over what little authority carried there. It felt more like a bully, than a guy actually concerned with firearm safety. Who knows, maybe he was profiling us, and determined we were "problem-children" before we even pulled out any gear. We had no issues shooting (from the holster, or the bench). I don't know what happened to California ranges lately, but this ain't it. This was a first-time experience at this range, and as an avid Firearms enthusiast, these dudes need to figure it out. They're scaring all the Veterans and youth away lol. Oh yeah, Memberships cost $280 a year too, but you still have to pay $30 per guests. What a jip Ultimately, this place screams "boomer fuds" No thanks. I'll save my money. Just did the steel match at the range for the first time. Great group of people, very safe, very clear instructions, the RSO's ran a tight event without being overbearing. Will definitely be adding this event to my monthly calendar. Challenging course of fire, but they were very accommodating to the new shooters. read more

++ Range. This is a nice place where you can shoot nearly all your weapons. NRA Membership required, which is also a ++. With approx. 8-9 ranges available, you can shoot nearly all weapons you poses. If it weren't for The NRA, and all the other clubs that Support and Defend our 2nd Amendment, you would not be worrying about where to shoot, because the 2A would already be gone. Maturity is a must on this range, as members are expected to police up after themselves. The range staff are excellent, and very knowledgeable. This is a private range, where experienced and safe shooters pay dues. This is not an open range where novices can come out. The staff must make sure all participants are experienced and safe. The firing lines are unsupervised and self regulated. This is not the place for a novice to walk in off the streets to learn how to shoot, unless you are the guest of a member. The facilities are minimalistic, but perfectly sufficient for the needs of season shooters. Staff and members alike are friendly, knowledgeable, and enforce the safety rules. The outdoor and rural location adds to the experience. The staff were helpful and friendly before we became members both on the phone and in person. Before we became members we were invited to walk around and talk to members. After we became members we found all staff and members to be friendly and knowledgeable. We have not seen any evidence of unsafe, politically aggressive, or dangerous people. This is a serious range of serious gun owners. read more

The staff are super friendly, as a matter of fact... don't expect the hubby home anytime soon because they chat it up for hours. My wife and I are fairly new members at Rainbow. We very much prefer an outdoor range over indoor. The facilities are little dated, but so what, that's not what we come here for. The range is divided for different firearms. We recently had the pleasure of meeting a new Rangemaster, Tony. He's great. When he's not having to be in the office, he makes the rounds and visits shooters. We both enjoyed talking with him and learning from him. Let's hope he is able to stay for a long time. read more

Had I not written a review here? Anyway what's not to like here? Responsible shooters, great range staff (especially Steve) never overly busy and easy to go "cold" to set and place targets. If I could make one improvement it would be to move the plate rack out to 15-20 yards and allow jacketed bullets. The monthly "combat" match is a hoot to shoot. I've always been an avid shooter of pistols. When I moved to Temecula I began the search for a range. Found them scattered far away and seemed expensive. A little more research and I found Rainbow in my backyard no more than 10 minutes away. It's a annual membership type club and you must be a NRA member to join. No standard range marshals here you follow the rules. If you just arrived and want to hang your target just ask to go cold. Everybody I've met here has been very friendly and super safe! Shooting is serious and serious shooters are safe! I encourage anyone that has a gun to go to the range regularly and practice, it's fun. Good people working here and very helpful. Great hidden spot shooting range. It's members only which is the best part. It's not a big range, but I have never seen it crowded. They have everything you need, even trap shooting. A bit of a drive from my house, but my friend lives in Temecula and after a few visits, I became a member myself. I was extremely excited to learn about Rainbow Range. I live in North County and the only other outdoor shooting range in the area is Pala, and they have very odd hours and don't have facilities for any shotgun sports. I am leaving 1 star because of the NRA membership requirement for membership. I would gladly pay the annual fee to shoot at Rainbow, in fact I would gladly give the Rainbow Range an extra $45/year to waive the NRA membership requirement. It looks like I will have to drive all the way to Dulzura (South Bay Rod and Gun Club) to shoot outdoors since I refuse to join and support the NRA, whose values no longer agree with my own. read more

I have been searching for a good place to shoot that's local for quite awhile. It was $180 for the year plus a valid NRA membership which should be required everywhere. The staff is amazing and the members have been very welcoming and helpful. Safety is their number one priority, plus an emphasis on cleaning up after yourself which is great compared to BLM land which shooters treat like trash. I highly recommend becoming a member, just take note the entrance is on a blind corner so be careful existing. read more

Safety is driven by both the rangemasters and fellow shooters; everyone is here to have a good time and the rural appeal of the range is half of its beauty. Hey, Kevin R., don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out. This has been my home range for three years and there has never been a range accident here in that time. The range, which is all NRA members (LE, military, retired from either/or) is well run, well policed and a great place to shoot. The only thing that keeps it from five stars is that the max range is 100 yards, which is a bit short for my 30.06. That, and the fact that it can get crowded on weekends. By the way, this range is completely legal, so I have no idea what the 'and do it legally' comment is supposed to mean. read more

With a shortage of shooting ranges in So Cal, its nice to find one close to home, that puts safety first. It is a outdoor Gun Club that promotes firearm safety with NRA membership and Instructors who operate independent classes in pistol, rifle, shotgun safety, training for everyone. It is rated 4 stars because it is dated, but if your comfortable with that and are there to keep your skills up, it works just fine. Based on some of the negative reviews, it's obvious those who may be a safety risk to others are not happy with being denied membership, or they are anti NRA and chose to make negative comments about a institution that has put firearm safety first and foremost in its mission to preserve the 2nd Amendment for all Americans, which the rage and members supports. read more

Well I love this place. Practically live here! The range is kept up very nicely. Here you will meet some very nice guys happy to show you new guns, and some interesting things about guns. For the most part this is a great group of guys. This is a shooting range so shooting range safety is a must to keep everyone SAFE: 1. Cold range means STAY BEHIND THE WHITE LINE. Holster weapon or unload weapon and face it down range with the slide open. If you bring a new shooter take a minute to explain this to them. 2. Don't walk on berms (this wears them down). 3. Know the Five gun safety rules: (some version of this) 1. Treat ALL firearms as if they were loaded. 2. Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction. Don't break 180 3. Keep your trigger finger outside the trigger guard and off of the trigger until you are ready to fire. 4. Be certain of your target, your line of fire, and what lies beyond your target. 5. Always wear appropriate eye and ear protection when shooting and maintaining your firearm. Follow these rules and you will have a great time. Break these rules, and some old fart will yell at you and get all rude and nasty.... (Sorry some guys are just jerks). This could create a dangerous situation that make you want to (well you know). Beautiful scenery at this range. It's tucked away from the freeway so it is a strikingly peaceful area to go. I spent a few hours at the pistol range. Several things I like: ability to fire fmj ammo, steel plate out at 50 yards to challenge yourself, and that eveyone shooting was their own range master. If you wanted a cold range, just ask hose around you. No need for timed or hyper vigilant old timer range masters. Seems to treat eveyone as adults with fire arms as opposed to campers with their first BB gun. It was also a bonus that every range was covered. An additional thing I like was how close all the ranges were to each other. You can park your car once and shoot pistols, clay pigeons with shot guns, rifles, and 22 lr at the different ranges. We came as guests of members, and were found the customer service too notch. Have heard great things about shooting here. read more

Before I start writing anything about this range I want to tell you something about myself I'm a 55-year-old man and I have been shooting since I was seven years old !! my daughter just turned 18 years old and we wanted to go try out the shooting range in Fallbrook , on arrival we were greeted by a young man however we were interrupted by an older Female I would call her a female because I don't think she's a lady !!! The young man offered to show us around the property but he was rudely interrupted by that female saying we can't do that so basically I have to be a member or I can't even get a tour of the place I don't think that's a Way to build a customer base or to keep people coming back to your place and get them out of there happy every time ,, I firmly believe that female will cause that place to fail and they could seriously go out of business ,, I will never go back to that place I don't care what they will offer me !!!the way we were treated was really rude she showed absolutely no friendliness no interest in making customers , I read a number of reviews by different people talking about the rudeness of the staff ,, but reading is one thing and being there and experiencing it as a whole different story !!! it felt like an insult and that is no way to treat a customer ,, my advice to anyone reading this take your business anywhere else believe me there is no place worst then this !!!
