This is one of the worst experiences we've had. We ordered the special for $23 which included coconut shrimp on a stick that was so overcooked we couldn't get it off the stick,, scallops in some kind of sauce-scallops were tiny and sauce was soupy and bland, tilapia that was greasy and one other item that was not even memorable. We sent it back and asked for chicken quesadillas. They came out with chicken that was completely tasteless and bland. The rest of the family ordered a burger that was tasteless, a chicken wrap that was tasteless, chicken strips that were overcooked and tasteless and a kids meal with a hot dog bun that was hard. Will absolutely never go back to this restaurant. Not worth 1 star, but have to rate to be able to review. I wonder if the owners ever read all of these horrible reviews and tally up their losses? read more

I think this is an awesome place for a drink. My strawberry mojito was amazing, albeit very weak. That's where it ended. Some kids were given frog eyes to wear atop their heads, I had to flag out mostly absent server to get one because he was starting to cry. The food itself...overpriced and barely edible. Their "hanger" steak was nothing but a glorified sirloin, it tasted gritty and boiled and only had grill marks on one side. The ribs were the furthest thing from fall off the bone, as they held on for dear life and were dry and chewy. The shrimp weren't bad, but there were only 3 small ones and they definitely lacked seasoning. At $32 for that and one side (the other being coleslaw that they wouldn't substitute), it was hardly worth the cost. My son's pasta was nearly sauceless, but he was pretty okay with it. The thunderstorms on the half hour scared him, I definitely don't recommend for kids with sensory issues. It's right next to Sea Life which is genius for them. While waiting for 45 minutes on that line we put our names in for Rainforest cafe. Get your tourist fix at Sea Life, skip Rainforest. read more

The atmosphere is really nice but the food is too expensive for me lol. Everyone else I went with said their food was good. Mine wasn't. I got the Mediterranean chicken Panini that cost about $14. A Panini is supposed to be a sandwich from what I understand. This wasn't a sandwich. It was a piece of dry kind of burnt chicken on top of some bitter greens covered in some kind of nuts, tomato and onions with a little sauce only on top. That was inside of what looked like a pita bread or something. Looked good but it was dry and burnt tasting and the greens were too bitter for me. I ended up taking them off and just eating the chicken with lots of ketchup. The bottle at our table was actually almost empty and since everyone got fries we ended up having to get another bottle from a different table so I could eat my chicken. Also we weren't given any napkins or silverware when our appetizers came and didn't get them until our main food was brought out and I asked for them. If you know what to expect, it meets expectations. After passing by probably a half dozen of these restaurants, we actually stopped into this location one afternoon. Right off the bat I will say I knew what to expect regarding the ridiculous decor, noise, and rampant children, and I doubt anyone else is unaware! So, the ambiance is a cross between Chuck e Cheese and a casino cafe. We were seated near some animatronic gorillas which apparently become noisily agitated every ten minutes from an imaginary thunderstorm. The food was not terrible, although it was a little overpriced. There were a few healthy options, which I appreciated. Servers were a bit pushy with desserts and cocktails, which annoyed. When we first arrived, I considered this might be a fun place to take the kids. Problem is, this is a chain, with the sort of food quality one expects from a chain, only rather exorbitant prices. Meal for two without alcohol (that may have helped, if we had!) or dessert came to over sixty bucks with tip. read more

Dining here was the ABSOLUTE WORST experience of all my restaurant experience! I actually shouldn't say dining because we didn't even eat. We attempted to eat here for my three year old son's birthday, and after waiting an hour and a half for our food we left to find dinner elsewhere. The server kept reassuring us that our food was coming (the kitchen was backed up she said) however we watched all of the tables around us get their food when they had been seated a generous amount of time after us. When I spoke with the manager all she could mutter was "I'm sorry"! This was after attempting to walk away from me when she knew I wanted to talk to her. SHE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED!!! I will never ever go back here which is sad because the experience was fun but not worth the horrible service we received. If you can't handle the overstuffed dining room that you have then don't put so many tables in one teeny tiny space. This restaurant is run by an incompetent person and we will never return! The food is not all that good but the atmosphere is great for kids. My 2 1/2 year-old son had a blast and was totally entertained throughout the meal. My husband and I and my son were not that hungry, we just wanted to share a small bite. So we got that adventurous appetizer plate and shared it between the three of us and it was very filling. It had spinach artichoke dip, chicken fingers, chips, mozzarella sticks, and guacamole, along with their famous chimi churros or whatever. For $15 it was filling for us 3!! The service was a bit slow, but the people were pretty friendly. Our waitress seemed a little upset that we were only ordering the appetizer and kept trying to push us to buy more food, once you realize we were ordering more it was hard to get her to come back to the table. Yes, the wait time was long (1 hour plus on a Friday night). Yes, the food was pricier than other sit-down casual restaurants, but we had a blast. While we waited, we did some more shopping, so that was no big deal. Once we got the notification that our table was ready, we were seated in about 5 minutes. The waitstaff was wonderful to our two boys, and food came out in a respectable amount of time. Kids were happy with their meals, my pasta was fabulous, and my partner's salad was exactly what she was looking for. We ended with the volcano dessert - easily enough to share for the whole table. This place is the perfect place for a headache. It's located inside Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall, which is chaos enough. Upon walking in, there's a storefront to buy stuffed animals, toys, clothing, kitchenware for kids, among many other things, with Rain Forest Cafe logos on it. There is a beautiful fish tank with all sorts of colorful fish to admire while waiting to be seated. They have automated animals, insects, and other creatures throughout that move, smoke machines that blow every 15-20 minutes, and sound effects to make you feel like you're sitting in a rain forest. This place is usually packed and very busy. I'd recommend calling ahead to reserve a table before stopping in to ensure you get seated at the time you're expecting. When we walked up to the hostess, she didn't smile or looked like she enjoyed her job much. I don't blame her, however, I'm not being paid to stand there and greet guests. Once we got seated, we were greeted by our server, who was very friendly. He was becoming increasingly harder to find after we ordered our drinks. It took about 15 minutes to get our water on the table. We made sure to order quickly as it seemed this was going to be a long lunch. We were 2 adults and 3 kids. We ordered the Awesome Appetizer Adventure to start. It came out cold; the mozzarella sticks were hard as rocks, the chicken fingers were cold, and everything tasted terrible. The kids ordered the mac and cheese, chicken nugget, and the grilled cheese kids meals. Their food tasted better than ours, and it wasn't great or hot when it came out. I ordered the Rainforest Burger, which came out cold and didn't taste like anything. My friend ordered the Caesar Salad, which came out as leaves and croutons with dressing on the side. It took 45 minutes to finally get our food and feed three very hungry kids. For a restaurant serving children, I'd assume they know they get anxious and are very impatient. There is only so much interest they'll have in a fish tank after a while. The animals moving and lights flashing every 20 minutes was cool, but you can expect a lot of kids to start crying at that time because they're scared. With the food coming out late and cold after waiting so long, we were really disappointed. After all was said and done, I spent $80 on a lunch worth $20. The food was terrible and expensive for nothing. It was very bland and not worth the money. The service was slow and the food was cold. Not to mention, the leaves are very dusty in this place. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a while. There is an alligator at the front entrance that really attracted people in; it's been broken for a while and I'm not sure they're going to fix it anytime soon. We we're very excited to visit this place. My husband and I had been her when we were kids and wanted to take our kids here. We made a reservation for 6pm. We stood in line to let them know we were there. We got to the hostess and told her we wanted to check in. She said we were too early. It was 5:58. So we got in line again to let them know we were still there and got to the front where they said they were clearing off tables. Another 20 minutes passed before we were seated. None of the hostesses knew what was going on, even with head pieces, or had customer service in mind. Obviously locals don't go here because this restaurant doesn't care about return customer and it's more of a one time, that was nice, never again restaurants. The food was good. If you tried to leave your seat, you would be ran over by someone carrying food. The whole experience was mehhh. Would not go again. read more

My wife and I wanted to go here because we thought the kids would like it. Big mistake!!! The food tasted like regular bowling alley food . Something told me to not order from here what it was across from sea life so I was like the food can't be that expansive. But my pasta w/chicken was like 20 bucks , fish and chips was 18 and my kids cheese burger was 8 dollars from the kids meal. I recently decided to eat at rainforest cafe. NOT for the food, but because every 15 minutes there's a really cool thunderstorm effect where they flash the lights and all the animals make funny noises. The fish are also huge which is cool because it adds character. While I was there my party had the nacho plate, Cobb salad, and portabella mushroom wrap. We assumed the service was good and gave a 30% tip, biggest mistake ever. I then went to Pacsun, not far from the Rainforest Cafe. As I was perusing the trendy options, my partners stomach started to feel a lil tumbly bumbly. She was drenched in sweat. I wasn't feeling too hot either. She then looked at me and said "I think I'm gonna throw up for real this time!" She gave me her clothes and ran to the nearest bathroom in the mall (which was very confusing btw). It wasn't long after that I realized I needed to throw up too! I hid our clothes so no posers could steal the last extra small white turtleneck among various other articles of trendy and up and coming, as well as expensive clothes. I ran to the nearest bathroom, and THREW UP, it caught me by surprise so it was on the floor. My friend told me that she was also "highkey throwing up". I also had loose defecation. While I do enjoy the animatronic animals, along with the epic fish tanks, I do not recommend eating food there. Especially the nachos. The atmosphere tries to distract you from the troubling food. Had dinner for the first time at Rainforest Cafe today. Our group consisted of 3 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 young children. The atmosphere is topnotch, kids loved the animals and the "starlit" sky. So to see their reactions to their surroundings was nice, even the adults gave the decor a thumbs up. Our waitress was pleasant, prompt and attentive, so that too was refreshing. Unfortunately, that is the best that I can say for the Rainforest Cafe. Our meals were downright disgusting. Two ppl had chix parm, the chicken was dry and the pasta sauce was unpalatable. One had the mixed fajitas, and again the chix was dry and the steak has no flavor whatsoever. Two ppl had the steak and shrimp combo. Steak, again, the steak had no flavor and I guess the shrimp were okay. The little kids had chix tenders with fries, they aren't old enough to complain so we'll say that their meal was average. Those items plus two appetizers, 2 adult drinks 4 pops and 2 milks brought the total bill to $188 plus tip. Now mind you, I wouldn't mind spending that kinda scratch on dinner for 7 ppl if after I left, I enjoyed the meal, but as awful as it was, I will never be back. read more

I think the poor reviews are caused by a lack of training or poor hiring skills because the hostess nearly made us want to leave but our server saved the day! We took our 4yr old boys' for a birthday meal before going to Sea Life. They wanted to sit at one of the 4-5 open tables against the fish tanks but the server said she would have to ask a server if they would be willing to allow that (). She didn't want to have to do that so she sat us at a dark table for six by the elephants. When we asked our server if she would mind serving us at the table we wanted, she was all for it! She provided amazing service, made sure the boys got their souvenir cups (all in stock), and when she found out where we were heading next; she brought us coupons that saved us from paying for the boys. Talk about going above and beyond and for the life of me, I can't remember her name ‍ (Sam, maybe). As far as the food, I have no complaints and neither did my family.
