We have 4 kids and they seem to be slowly outgrowing the experience as well. Our kids are 11,10,7, and 4. The food portions for kids are small, thus my 10/11 year old order from the adult menu which those items are pricey for the quality of food you get. Service: The waitstaff did their best to serve us and accommodate for the slow food delivery and mishaps of our order. Out of my 4 kids two received their meal on time and the other two they forgot to make. My order I was told there was Feta cheese- but they no longer carried it. Sure, kids love this place. You can dine in with gorillas, parrots, alligators, tigers and a beautiful water fountain and even ride a family ride for 5$ afterwards. For adults? Not so much. The whole place feels grungy, like it needs a really good cleaning. The food is way too expensive for the quality and quantity. The service is usually really great unless you come in at a really busy time (Friday and Saturday nights). If you're a Landry's card member, you'll get a discount and a personal visit from the manager. You'll also get to skip ahead in line. Last time we visited, the bathrooms were disgusting! We opted out of using them and went to a local grocery store. We waited in line to be seated while wait staff stared at us. Totally unprofessional and rude. After being seated, our waiter was prompt and friendly! He was great and I had no complaints. He got us our alcoholic drinks and icees quickly and our chips and queso without hesitation. The problems began when we got our food. I ordered the "Ribs, Steak and Shrimp combo" which came with a sirloin, coconut shrimp and ribs. I asked for my steak to be medium rare. It was well done. I could hardly chew it because it was as hard as a rock and flavorless. The coconut shrimp was good although I've had the same quality from the microwaveable kind. The ribs were pretty good but the sauce was generic and straight from a bottle. My mashed potatoes were cold as ice and had no salt, butter, or pepper. Bland, bland, bland. The chips from our appetizer were straight from a bag and our queso was straight from a jar. Not worth the 10$ price tag when we could have the same thing at home. The kiddos liked their pepperoni pizza and icees. They had no complaints but honestly, they think McDonalds is gourmet. The ride is actually kinda cool. The whole family can ride! Don't worry about weighing too much. I was 120 pounds larger than I am now and rode with no complaints. Ok so this place really surprised me. Like I was expecting this place to be a one star type of restaurant, but it was pretty average so I gave it 3. Obviously, people usually come here strictly for the atmosphere. People like the cool rainforest vibe and the thunderstorm. They don't come here for the food. And the atmosphere was cool. I think out of all the rainforests I've been to this one had the best atmosphere. Anyways onto the food, it wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. First - prepare for a wait! We got there at 4:30 & went in to eat at 6:15pm! If you can get on the waitlist early then DO IT! The wait wasn't so bad tho bc we made Build-A-Bears in the gift shop, went out to the Entertainment area to see the animatronic crocodile, competed in a Hula Hoop contest, watched the magician & jugglers...it goes on lol!! There is also an in-house ride, but with a 40 minute wait plus a 10 minute ride, we didn't have time. Once we were in, my kids absolutely loved it! There were rainstorms, animatronic animals, the Rainforest frog came around taking pics with the kiddos, there was a balloon artist that made us some balloon animals. Top notch mood created!! We all enjoyed our meals! I had the Bombay chicken & shrimp, the curry sauce was too spicy for me, so our amazing waiter Luis brought me out some plum sauce that was delicious! My son had the Rainforest burger cooked medium well, loved it! My daughter had the pizza & Mac-n-chz. She said the pizza was "meh" but the Mac was the best she's ever had! We ended with the Volcano dessert that we all three split & still had some left over!! I'm giving 4* bc of the wait & the crowded areas, but wasn't too terribly bad. First of all let me say how amazing this place was! Everything was so immersive, interactive and life like. It was so colorful and the food was good. The kids had a great time and loved it. It felt like what an actual rainforest would have been and we were eating in the middle of it. There was a pretend thunderstorm every 30 minutes where the lights went down and the fake animals moved around. We went for my daughters birthday and they came out and sang to her. We did the river raft ride before we left. It was awesome too. The animals moved as we floated through the ride and the kids loved that part too right until the very last few seconds where there was a scary stone temple part. Overall this was a great end to our trip to Galveston. read more

Went out to eat ate the rainforest café for the first time and was not disappointed. The service was excellent and fast paced. Gift shop with a large variety of souvenirs. I was taken here with my friend Alexa on one of our Galveston weekend exploring trips. I have to say I had always wanted to go here as it looked like an interesting place to eat. Interesting it was, it was like being in the jungle and having a really loud expedition. I will say the food was mediocre. This may have been due to the fact that there was an animatronic monkey howling in my ear the whole time. I wound up getting a headache and didn't really enjoy the experience. Maybe it was just bad seating. At first I was very entertained, but was quickly annoyed by the experience, causing a downhill effect for the whole experience. What a great lunch, very courteous staff and informative. The food was a little pricy but it was great. The kids loved the experience of the storm and the animatronics. The waitress offered suggestions that helped us get some really great food. We also did the adventure ride, it's $5.99 a person and it's about 5 mins but it was really cool. If I could give this restaurant a zero, I would. We had family visiting from overseas, and were excited to share the Rainforest Cafe experience with them and our children to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Though the wait was an hour+, we understood that it comes with the territory. However, once we sat down-- everything continued to go downhill. Our waitress was kind and very apologetic about the entire experience, and because of the lengthy wait, we ordered immediately. The food not only took another hour (appetizers, mind you), but they were almost inedible. The starter trio felt like it had been sitting out for a while before arrival. Artichoke dip was cold and not melted, the mozzarella sticks were soggy and not melted, etc. Our chicken and shrimp entree ($23) was inedible because the chicken was seized-- and the shrimp was rubbery. The rice was over cooked to the point of mashed potato consistency. Our guests' tilapia entree was mushy and felt raw or like it had been defrosted incorrectly. The fish and chips was soggy inside-- halfway cooked and improperly defrosted. It took over two hours to be given food that was completely inedible. I could go on. Needless to say, we were disappointed and embarrassed for our guests and left hungry and paying (though slightly discounted... but still over $100) for a meal we couldn't eat. We were so excited to go here while on vacation it was a huge let down. The food was bland, service was awful. It took over 45 minutes to get our food, and it wasn't busy, there was maybe 4 tables in whole restaurant. If you come here to be Impressed by the food, you'll be disappointed. Everytime I come to Galveston, we have to make a stop here. It's not really because of the food, but because of the decor. It's really neat sitting in a jungle with thunderstorms and animal sounds. The food is good, but too overpriced. It also does get old after awhile listening to the waiters yell volcano everytime someone orders one for dessert. All together though, it's a good experience. No stars if possible, this place has been a favorite of my sons for 7 years his obsession with elephants led to many dinners at rainforest cafe and we never had a problem until todayyyyy waited to sit for a hour which is fine, that's not the problem. They proceed to sit us next to the fountain/ waterfall which is 1 super noisy . 2 we were getting WET. At first it was a few splashed we thought we could deal with it but by the time our drinks came we were getting too wet. My husband asked to be moved alto which the manager came back to tell us " no because they had too many reservations " that they could move the table all little bit but our party of 3 and a baby was too much to move to another table. You can see in the picture how wet the rocks were that are right by us. I had to cover up my baby who fell asleep to keep her from getting wet. Air condition and being wet does not make for a pleasant eating environment. We canceled our order paid for our drinks and left asking to speak to the manger to get her name before we left to which we were cut off and told she wasn't going to continue "this" . If I could give NEGATIVE stars for this restaurant, I would. This is the WORST food we have had in a long time. We look forward to coming here annually before we board our cruise. Tonight's fish and chips was so chewy it felt like it had been at the bottom of the freezer since our last visit here a year ago. The Iggy Piggy sandwich had a weird wang to it. Our server was MIA for long periods, so I approached the hostess to complain about the food before it was removed, and she politely apologized and offered to send over a manager. While I was away from the table, our plates were cleared. The manager, Luisa, did come to our table and was completely insulting. I led with the fact that I am not asking for anything financial but that our food was awful and that she clearly had issues that needed looking operationally in her kitchen. She got indignant and said "Well, you should have said something about it before your plates were cleared." I told her I tried but they cleared the plates while I was away from the table looking for someone to tell. She said she couldn't do anything now and she would go the kitchen to see if she could fine our food to inspect. That was insulting! I just wanted an apology and someone to care enough to correct the problem. We will NEVER be back. Go anywhere but here!!! I paid $100 for our meal and left HUNGRY. read more

Went to Rain Forest Cafe in Galveston 7/22/2023 on a Saturday so you know it was busy, but I had to come and write a review to let everyone know I had a great experience. I felt like the staff is what made it a great experience. Even with the restaurant and retail being so busy everyone I came across greeted me with a smile. I went to celebrate my birthday with my 2 kids. We had to wait an hour to be seated but with so much to do my kids were entertained the entire time. We rode he ride and they had an entertainer outside. Even my son got involved in the show. When they txt me my table was ready my kids were not ready since they were having a fun time. When we walk in the restaurant it was amazing and my kids loved it. Our waitress (Daneca I believe that was her name) was really nice and attentive. Even the restaurant manager (Carmen) was walking around and asked us and tables around us was everything ok. I had to get their names to let them know we do see and appreciate people like that when we go out to eat. They made sure we had a great experience and they definitely exceeded. Cool place to take your little kids while your in town. They have "storms" every little bit which was loud but neat. This place is over priced and I would not go back. I ordered a gluten free pasta and I realize gluten free pasta is hard to cook but I'd rather figure something else out then pay $30 for a plate of gross hard flavorless pasta. After an almost 2 hour wait we got sat, I ordered a plain frozen margarita nothing special I didn't even want a salted rim. My brother ordered fish and chips and it came with coleslaw, how you make dry coleslaw I don't know but the fish was very greasy and not too appetizing. So you're about to spend Landry price on blended food you can make at home. my burger from regular fast food chain restaurants a little bit more flavorful then this place. My daughter had to ask for seasoning for her pasta. I might be sounding too harsh .. but when I spend $18 on a burger and fries that are cold and soggy burnt... That's kind of annoying. The only other annoying thing was that we were seated by the waterfall. Sat down and was told the beer tap was "still broken". We used to enjoy the Cobb salad and was informed that it had been taken off the menu. So we ordered the standard fried fare of Junk that all Tastes the same. When the food was brought out, they served the adults and one child. These are children six and under and one had to wait ten minutes for her Dinosaur nuggets to join the rest of our table. Service was slow at best.
