Great food at moody gardens! Prices aren't bad considering you're in a hotel. Food was good and the servers were very nice.

This is a solid food choice if you're visiting or staying at Moody Gardens. I enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this restaurant. For breakfast, they offer a nice buffet, but I chose to have the omelette. You can select up to 3 items to add to it. I had cheese, spinach and mushrooms. It was fluffy and good. For lunch, I had the club sandwich. It was very good and the fries were large. I also had a brisket quesadilla for dinner. I liked that the tortilla was nice and crispy, and it wasn't too greasy. I had the lobster bisque on the side. The broth was thin and light and had chunks of lobster. The service was friendly and fast. If you dine inside the restaurant, it's spacious and has a tropical vibe. read more

We had a nice time at the cafe. Despite the low ratings, we gave it a shot, and were quite surprised. It's bright and airy, and service was great. Strawberry salad: 10/10; deelish! The strawberries were sweet and fresh. The candied pecans added texture and were tasty. The bibb lettuce was bibbing, and it all paired well with the vinaigrette dressing. Potato chips: 9/10; fresh, crispy, seasoned, delightful Lobster bisque: 10/10; spicy, rich, lump lobster pieces, flavorful Short rib sandwich: 8/10; it needed some mayo because it was on the dry side; otherwise, it was a good bite. This is one of a small handful of places to dine at within the Moody Gardens hotel. This restaurant does most of its business during breakfast and lunch. If you're coming here for lunch or dinner like we did, they do have a decent selection of cocktails, wine, even a couple of craft beers. There's lots of inside seating or you can choose an outdoor table and take your chances with the flies. After we started off with a couple of drinks, we got the tuna poke bowl and fish and chips. The poke bowl was extremely fresh with a garnish of salmon rowe to complete it. The fish and chips was good, however, the batter was not at all crunchy and the dry seasoning that was sprinkled on the dish was unnecessary. The fish coating was like a rubbery film clinging to the fish and in hindinsight, I wished I'd ordered the burger instead. With that said, the drinks and service were on par which takes it up to four stars instead of three. I'll check this place out for breakfast next time. Photos included. read more

It wasn't the best breakfast I've had, but it was pretty good. I had pancakes which were nothing special, but my wife had their "Sticky Bun French Toast", which she said was really good. Not cheap, but good service and nice atmosphere. read more

We came to the car show in September and the food was excellent. Before we left on Sunday, we took a to go of the stuffed red fish with potatoes and mixed veggies. We enjoyed it so much we are back to celebrate my birthday!! Had the stuffed red fish and the avocado crab stack with lump crab meat! Exceptional!! The service and the food were excellent. Had strawberry shortcake for desert and it was delicious. Also tried the cheesecake. The atmosphere is so pleasant and inviting with all the vibrant colors and decor! Service is a joke, no existent really! Servers don't really seem to care about the customers. Restaurant is dead and service is still horrible, one server consistently apologizes when he finally does come to help. Restaurant is clean for the most part, food is ok, bland but convenient. We stayed at the Hotel for 5 days and we made sure to come eat at this restaurant at least once. We will definitely be back, if I would have known food was this good I would have come sooner. We will be back for breakfast. Food was great and very fresh lots of flavor. We had a table visit from the penguin, he walked around and interacted with guest. My son is 12 and enjoyed the playful interaction, we heard he is here from 4-6pm. The ambiance was great. read more

Nice ambience. The buffet has a lot of options for breakfast even chicken sausage and smoothie, vegetables, oatmeal, grits, and a lot of fruit. The smashed avocado toast was ok....multigrain bread tasted a bit stale. The smashed avocado was not anything special. Over easy egg was a bit overcooked. I give Cafe in the Park 5 stars for the buffet that they have on the weekends. I wish they run it on the weekdays as well because I find it to be an excellent choice for my almost 2-year-old. He loved the food here so much and had a great time eating here every single time. The buffet selection is not huge by any means, but we loved every single dish that they served. The presentation, freshness, and quality of the food are excellent! They even have omelette and pancake stations for breakfast. Not to mention, the restaurant itself reminds me of eating at a fancy restaurant in Vegas. There are beautiful butterflies, I think made out of glass, hung on the back of the wall. There are plenty of seatings by the bay windows if you want some light and view, or if you are like us and want some privacy, then you can sit closer to the buffet area. We can't wait to come back to Moody Gardens and eat here! read more

My wife and I arrived Moody Gardens late last night. We came here to eat dinner thirty minutes before closing. The staff was very cool because I know everyone is ready to clean and go home. However, they seated us and we had a fantastic waiter name Jerome who recommended us dishes to get. We ordered a strawberry chicken salad and pasta primavera which was a great choice. We were there for a conference and this restaurant with its location near the lobby was conveniently located. We both ordered Red Fish, as we were told a day before it was the local fish in this area. My blackened red fish came with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. Cold soup, cold food and the sloppiest guacamole I have ever had. The star can be for the fresh grouper. I wish I could say the ambiance was great but I was super cold by the end. It's like none of the staff bothered, they were happing chit chatting among themselves. As this is the main restaurant in Moodys, we tend to eat here due to convenience. The food is not the best but it's also not the worst. But it is fairly overpriced. The service is fine. I think the buffet is a good option also for kids who like variety. Otherwise the kids menu is decent. read more

Kids eat free so that is probably the best thing about this place. The service is spotty, we ate here twice. They are working hard but seem too busy or have too many tables. The wait for food did take awhile and they gave us a heads up. The lobster bisque soup was the best thing I ate. I didn't care for the chicken quesadillas. I have to say go for the buffet not the menu. Hubby had chicken fried steak and the meat was rubbery the dredge didn't stick to the meat it was actually a little off putting. I did the buffet and was able to do my bagel and salmon with extras for free that would have been a upcharge if I ordered from the menu. It's a sad hotel restaurant. The Furniture and staff uniforms never left 1992. New dishwasher is needed, utensils and glasses are not fully clean. Service is alright nothing stellar. The food fairly good. They don't try to be anything ambitious with the menu. read more

We attempted to eat here today but after having to wait to be seated and having the server and the boss arguing with each other over who is going to take care of our table we realize that it was going to be us and took the brunt of the employee not wanting to do her job that day so we decided to get up and leave. The prices are also quite high and like others have mentioned the decor is severely lacking. 1992 called and they want their stuff back. I would eat here only if you're desperate and can't get anywhere else but other than that it's not really worth your time for the terrible service in the bad attitudes of the people working here. read more

Super thankful for this restaurant + they were so awesome to be open on Thanksgiving Day. I always dread eating at theme parks, so I was thrilled that this restaurant was available to those who were not guests at the hotel. The food was delicious here, especially the gulf fish/fresh catch. I love fresh fish, so when I can get it, I'm a happy camper. For lunch, the fams and I headed to the Moody Garden Hotel and the dining area at Cafe In The Park was wide open and we were seated immediately. The waiter had a bit of an accident with our waters because of a faulty tray, so they were so kind as to give my daughter a complimentary meal. All of the food arrived in a timely manner, so we were able to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving lunch thanks to this restaurant. Traveling during the holidays could be rough, but places like this just make things so much nicer. Later that evening, we ordered dinner to go and were thoroughly impressed as well. This was a great dining option alternative to the Thanksgiving buffet they had set up inside Moody Gardens. We are not big on buffets, so we were glad that we had this option. read more

Breakfast was extremely underwhelming. Both of our pancakes were undercooked. My husband pointed out his but I didn't point out mine as I didn't want to make a fuss. They were nice to take off his set from the bill. For the price point, I expected much more. The coffee was off as well. When we left, I had to grab a coffee from the Starbucks a few feet away. If you absolutely don't want to leave the hotel for food, I guess this is an option but I wouldn't return. read more

My tips...order the Fish Tacos and/or Reuben. Huge portions which could easily be shared. The fries are crispy, lightly salted, and served in a trendy hammered tin cup. The pina colada was refreshing with just the right balance of lusciousness and liquor. The Cafe has a refreshingly airy, bright interior which looks upon a lovely courtyard. Post lunch stroll the area. There are comfy patio couches, shaded areas, gigantic chess/checker games and enviable, color-ridden gardens. Each inside table has a fresh Gerber Daisy. I was able to control my urge to use it for..."He loves me/he loves me not." The server was attentive but not intrusive. She was a sweetheart bringing ice cold water in to-go cups. Very much enjoyed my early dinner here (it's more than brunch as indicated by the Yelp category). I stayed at the Moody Gardens Hotel for a conference, and decided to give the restaurant a try on the last night. Note that the menu is also available via room service - chips and queso and shrimp po'boy were delicious. It was almost empty at 6 pm on a Wednesday. Service was very friendly, particularly the manager Jennifer who stopped by to chat and check in on me as my server was new. The Sand Dollar cocktail was refreshing and not overly boozy. Went surprisingly well with the baby back ribs, which weren't completely fall off the bone, but required a little bit of chewing. Generous portion for $24, complete with crispy fries and a garden salad. Salad had several types of greens, radish, carrots, and a single slice each of mushroom and cucumber. read more

We ate here only because we were staying at the hotel for a dance competition. Got seated immediately, but then waited well over 5 min for someone to even acknowledge our existence. Please note, the restaurant was not that busy. Literally, every table around us was being tended to. And somehow, none of them were assigned our table?? Only after I had to walk back to the front desk, to speak with the manager on where the server was, did they manage to get someone to wait on us. Once that was done, the waiter gave off an heir like they were being completely inconvenienced by us. I can count on one hand how many times we saw them after that. None of her tables were close by, so I'm sure she was not happy to service us. Let me tell you...it showed. Such a strange experience!! Ate here on our evening of check in. My family all had the seafood buffet, $29 a person and there was a delicious selection and something for everyone. Delicious and fresh veggies and salads and homemade dressings and lots of meats and seafood as well as chicken tenders and pizza for the youngsters and beautiful desserts to finish off our yummy dinner. We've tried their breakfast buffet and lunch menu while we were staying at the hotel. Both were very good and had lots of variety. Breakfast buffet is standard hotel/resort style, nicely organized, no long lines, and plenty of food. Plus an omelette & waffle stations. Kids under 7 are free. Lunch was as good, but not a buffet. The service at Cafe in the Park was so friendly and accommodating. We are there A LOT over the course of our four night stay. The problem is that the kitchen is slow--like two hours for lunch and then cold food slow. My first thought is that the management knows the service is unacceptably slow and tries to make up for it with friendly service. Which is fine. My favorite dish was the arugula flat-bread. The kids ate hamburgers almost everyday and all in all, it was fine. No big deal and didn't break the bank too bad. We kept our orders simple and that's my advice for future travelers. :) read more

We ate here for dinner and breakfast here during an overnight stay recently. This is a bit nicer than many hotel restaurants. The service was very good and we wanted for nothing. Our waiter was right on top of everything. We had the buffet both times. We are not big on buffets but when we came in that night we just wanted a quick bit and were not in the mood for a big and fancy dinner. There were plenty of choices from a shrimp dish, chicken, pasta salad, soup and desert. The food was more than decent. There was also $5 Bloddy Mary's. I was complete. For breakfast we had the buffet again and it was actually really good with ample selections and an omlet bar with fresh eggs cooked to order. A great fill up for the journey that would need to keep us full until dinner. Both meals were just $17 per person. Well worth it for what you got and the quality was good. read more
