I was pleasantly surprised by this cool old pub with great food out in the middle of nowhere/farmland WA. Admittedly, I am a Northern Cali "foodie"...so the expectations were not high. HOWEVER....everything about this little "hole-in-the-wall" was stellar from the great local beers on tap (love that Mac & Jac's African Amber) to the friendly/prompt service by our waitress, to the prices/portions/food! Awesome! Granted, this place seems to be known for its RED MEAT dishes (and yes, they use KOBE beef!) and I did see plenty of those pass by our table, but since we had sat in our car most of the day AND had a big lunch at Full Sail Brewery (that is another review) in Hood River, we opted for a couple of pints and 2 salads with grilled fish atop. HUGE SALADS and we could not finish them, but fresh fish, cooked properly and NO ICEBERG LETTUCE! Yeah! If I am ever back this way again, I would definitely return! Great food. This is my favorite place to eat in Enumclaw. Their ribs are to die for, but only served Thursdays (I think Mondays now too). I like them so much I had a friend pick some up right after my son was born so I wouldn't miss out on the Thursday night special. My wife loves the wraps. Our favorite desert is the bread pudding. Joey the chef knows what he is doing back there. I wish they had a few more beers on tap but they always have at least one of my favs. Oh and the diversity of what they are playing is always nice. Looks like the last time I'll eat here. I've brought my family many times. Today I ordered a large steak salad for $15. They delivered a small salad with four bite size portions of steak. I asked the waitress if it was a small because there was hardly any meat. She went and asked the cook and came back and said it was in fact a large. She also said she just received the same complaint earlier that day and that they should tell the owner. I told her I really felt like I was being ripped off paying that much for so little. I told her twice how displeased I was and I also told another waitress that checked in. Not once did anyone ask if they could do anything. I even said I had to go stop somewhere else now so I could get more food. Anyway, they brought the check and I paid it reluctantly, but will never return. It used to be a great placed in the past, but I wouldn't chance it again if they are not worried about satisfying their clients. read more

Normally really good food. My daughter ordered a burger and clam chowder. The burger was good but the clam chowder was watery. I tried it and would have to agree. We told our server and we're told she would taste it but never got an answer. My son ordered a burger with no tomatoes, but of course it came with them. His burger was good otherwise. The lettuce in my blackened salmon Caesar salad was a little wilted lettuce as if it sat at the counter for too long. read more

Not too bad. Read all the reviews before coming in, came in here one night but they were closing so we opted to come another night. Came at the tail end of a rush so our appetizers took a little while. Got the oysters pan fried instead of deep fried and they were mushy probly cuz they were frozen cuz I've had amazing pan fried oysters at other restaurants and made them fresh on a campfire before and they had better texture. Our dinners came right after our appetizer and second round of beers. I had the roasted romaine with salmon and Caesar dressing with roasted capers it was good, a huge salad for $15 the center of my salmon wasn't cooked but I couldn't finish the very last of my food anyways I was so full. My boyfriend ordered the tequila lime grilled chicken sandwich instead of the Cajun burger to be healthier and afterwards I wished we would have gotten him the burger instead. The chicken looked so thin on his sandwich and when he showed me and told me it tasted dry and flavorless it was apparent that they way overcooked the piece of chicken, he didn't even finish, instead he filled up on fries. The cooks looked relieved once the rush was done. We came in at 7 maybe next time we won't hit a rush and things will be a little better for the price. Wonderful lunch at the Rainer today. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive, although the poor thing was rushed off her feet. The food was wonderful. BBQ chicken wings to start. A bacon and blue cheese burger with sweet potato fries for me and the other half had a southwestern fish wrap and onion rings (fantastic recommendations from our waitress!) Everything was delicious. My fiance and I stopped here on our way back from skiing so we were just passing through. It had a great "bar" feel to it and from the black and white photos on the wall, it looked like a great history as well. We really liked the feel of the place. The menu had a huge selection and we had a hard time choosing. Great variety of burgers, sandwiches and classic bar entrees. We went with a couple of the 1/2 lbs burgers. They were huge but they were really overcooked. We weren't asked how we wanted them cooked but they were about an inch think and cooked well all the way through. This left them dry and tasteless. There were enough other toppings to make the burgers enjoyable but overall they were a big disappointment. The service wasn't great, but wasn't particularly bad either. The Seahawks game was starting so the place was full so I give them the benefit of the doubt. Excellent selection of beer on tap (about 10-15 taps). We really wanted to like this place but our entrees were disappointing. We would go back again to give it another try as there were lots of things other than burgers that sounded really good. read more

We have been going to this place since the week they opened, years ago. Recently my husband and I went there and sat at the bar as we had no kids with us. We had the best service by Colleen. I tried something I have never had there before and it was to die for. It was a grilled Salmon Salad and I swear it was like a party in my mouth!!! It was delicous! A couple of nights ago my Daughter and I went to the Rainier and had a new server named Melissa.....She is the bomb! What great service! She brought my Daughter's beverage and my wine and then went over the specials and gave us plenty of time before returning. My daughter thought is was so neat the way she asked what we would like. She said "what captured your attention this evening?" My daughter is 16 so I thought it was interesting she picked up on such a nice detail. I once again, had the Salmon Salad and my daughter had the chicken ceasar wrap which never dissapoints. Everything was great as usual. I don't know how they do it but they have great servers that work there. I have only had one server there that wasn't top notch and to me, that speaks volumes. One of my fiancée and I's favorite places to have our date night each week. They make a fabulous Caramel-Apple Martini (very strong, or maybe I'm just a light-weight) that I like to start out with. I've tried both their regular cheeseburger and Wagyu beef cheeseburger, and both are very good, so if you want to save a few dollars your good just getting the regular cheeseburger. Both are served with their tasty fries, which the fiancée and I both enjoyed. He has also ordered their onion rings, garlic bread and chicken strip appetizers...the garlic bread was enjoyed, the onion rings and chicken strips not so much. And for dessert, the dish that keeps me coming back, their chocolate brownie! A huge hunk of moist cakey goodness surrounded by sizzling caramel covered with vanilla ice cream...if you don't go for anything else, go to try this brownie! Nice little bar and grill in downtown Enumclaw. We love going here with our friends. They usually have good beer on tap and many time that we have gone, we have seen the bagpipers come in and play! That is always a good time and not something you see at most bar and grills. Another thing that makes Enumclaw great! It doesn't seem to matter what day of week you go, there will be a five to twenty minute wait for a table - a testament to their food and service I'm thinking. The food is great, though we mostly stick with the Kobe Burgers (why mess with a good thing). They have a good beer selection, the atmosphere is great, and the kids enjoy it. Husband & I were in Enumclaw to pick up an order. Asked where we should eat and he said Rainier B&G was his favorite. He was RIGHT! Granted we were there mid afternoon, service was awesome-Jillian very attentive to her customers and recommendations to us. I had the Hot Pot (a Tues special) and it was excellent! So much seafood in the light tasteful broth. Hubby had the Western Burger which did not disappoint either. The Chefs did an excellent job. The garlic wings were smothered in garlic, perhaps a bit much, but there were delicious. We will be back! read more

Wow, I have been here before and thought it was OK, but, went recently and was not very impressed. The wrap I had (tuna) was not very good, and I am not a picky eater. I ate half and brought the other half home. The 2 large deep fried onion rings tasted like what you'd get anywhere else, but, you should get something more appetizing with a wrap. Anyway, when I got home I thought I'd dissect the wrap and what I found was alot of lettuce and RAW tuna, oh my and I had already eaten half of the wrap at the restaurant. I am sure I am OK since many eat raw tuna but it's normally at a sushi place. My husband had the special which was a blacken Mahi Mahi and he found many bones in it, for $18.95 and a very small piece of fish he was very disappointed. Again, we are people that are NOT very picky and have Never written a review about a place, but thought this should be noted. The waitress was fine, the drinks were fine, but really, even though not many places to eat in Enumclaw you "The Rainier" should really pay more attention to your food. With my family not being the picky kind and finding your place on the D+ list I hope your owner takes a look at our review. We go here 2 or 3 times a month. Wednesday night we went and the first thing we noticed as we walked in the door, was the smell of cooking oil. Next we were disappointed in the poor selection of IPAs. Then the men's room smelled like a sour dishrag. Fortunately our bacon blue burger and fries was good as usual and the service was good. We will give it another try, but unless the above negative conditions improve, we will probably find an alternative to visit. read more

We ate here for the first time last night. We live in Maple Valley and were looking for something new so after reading some reviews here we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere here is great. Why don't we have something like this in Maple Valley. All dark wood, lots of people, a true family pub feel. Lots of choices on the menu, friendly staff. The place was packed on this friday night and we waited about 25 minutes. Not much of a wait area so with two small kids that was a bummer. The food was good. I wouldn't say great, but a solid good. Typical kids menu which is always a dissapointment. Kids will eat something other than chicken nuggets and grilled cheese so my kids split something off the main menu. There were a couple problems with our order. They forgot our appetizer and they left the onions on the kids sandwhich. After the mess up the waitress offered us a free dessert for her mistake which I really appreciated. We ordered the bread pudding which was absolutley amazing!!!!! Who knew Enumclaw could have such a cool place. We will be back. read more

If this review was just about the service it would be 5 star. I don't know what happened to what was once a great restaurant. Did they change Chefs? My wife and I would spend an average of $30 a piece for the best Kobe steak ever, $50 for a bottle of nice Red wine and another $10 for the worlds greatest Bread pudding and another $30 for the tip. And then spend the next week telling everyone we knew how great it was. The last couple times were not the same. On our last visit our server was wonderful but obviously embarrassed by the meal that came out of the kitchen for my wife. She requested her Kobe steak be cooked Med Rare but recieved it cooked Blue Rare. A minor inconvienance but not a big deal to have it sent back and cooked a bit more. Thinking it would only take a few minutes for her meal to return I decided to wait so we could enjoy our dinner together. Almost 30 minutes and several apologies later the server returned with my wifes plate. The Kobe steak was so well done it was not edible. Pretty obvious the Chef has no regard for the quality of food, the customer or the success of the business. Very sad. read more
