    Fish and chips.

Cold rainy night and I chose to sit in the bar area, by the door. I was freezing. Nice little place. Great friendly staff. Went in specifically for the fish and chips. They delivered! Cod surrounded by Crispy flavorful batter, fries and slaw. Not sure if the slaw had any type of dressing on it. I tasted it but usually don't eat the slaw. Fries were fresh and crispy. The tartar sauce was amazing. Not your regular sauce. I cannot remember what else was in it but it was so good. I used it for my fries. Was staying just across the way and hotel guests receive a discount when they show their room key. I would definitely stop in again to try other things on the menu.

My wife and I are celebrating our 19th anniversary. We are here in Bremerton for a work conference. I looked up reviews for a place to have our special dinner and the Axe & Arrow had some great reviews. Unbeknownst to me, it is literally across the street from our hotel! Absolutely delicious food! The owner was our server and she made us feel like we were guests in her home. We live in Bonney Lake but we will be back. 5 stars 100%

Looking forward to a date night, my husband and I ventured into Axe & Arrow for a burger and a beer. It's a huge building inside, with what seems like two separate areas. We were seated at the "upper section" away from the bar. It's not the restaurants fault, but it started off frustrating because we were seated by a large family with several loud children running around the tables and banging their feet on the booth. Loud enough to the point where a couple who sat next to us actually left before ordering. We wanted to really eat here, so we stayed. The next thing that sucked was they were out of lumpia, so we opted for the coconut shrimp appetizer instead. We both ordered the wagyu burger with fries, it was delicious and well cooked. I saw different beer and cider menu items online, and I got excited to try some, but maybe it was the menu we were handed or because we weren't close to the bar that we didn't get the full list of beers and ciders. It seemed limited for what I saw online, and considering it says they're a Gastropub. All in all the food and drinks were good, but nothing above and beyond.

Very clean. Great service. Friendly staff.

Ace & Arrow Review The food came out fast and tasted solid nothing fussy, just good and satisfying. The staff was warm and welcoming, and service moved along at a smooth clip. Plenty of drink options too, which kept things fun. A straightforward, easy stop with zero hassle and all the right basics.

Wandered into this place to "just try the food and drinks"--cut to us sharing a Wagyu burger like we were on a bougie episode of Top Chef: Bar Edition. The place gives off that old-school bar vibe but with a modern flair, like your cool uncle who just discovered designer sneakers. The bar itself? Pretty slick. Felt classy enough to sip an old fashioned but chill enough that I didn't have to Google which fork to use. We ordered the Wagyu burger and split it--shoutout to the kitchen crew for slicing it for us like burger-surgeons. That thing was juicy, flavorful, and honestly might've ruined regular burgers for me. You could taste the quality, like each bite whispered, "This is not your average beef, peasant." 10/10 would return to try more of the menu, especially if the rest of it is as seasoned (and well-behaved) as that burger.

Stopped by during my business trip on Yelp's recommendation--perfect spot for mixed cravings! My my wife loved his Elk Burger with bacon-pecan jam, while my Soy Chicken Plate hit the spot. Highlights: Unique burger options Delicious Asian fusion Dog-friendly patio Friendly, accommodating staff Prices were fair, portions satisfying. Exactly what we needed after a long day--will return!

Amazing food. Wait staff friendly and efficient. Salad was crisp and well flavoured. Now the prime rib was excellent. I'm a critic when it comes to to prime rib. I specifically ask for rare and was informed only med rare. It was definitely more on the rare side. The seasoning was perfect balanced. Truffles can be earthy and this was again a perfect balance. When visiting Bremerton I'll be back!

Recently stopped in here for a date night with the wife…read more We've been looking for a decent replacement ever since Tacoma lost the Rhein Haus. Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. But this place is by far the perfect replacement for our missing sausage haus. We are so glad we stopped in.

As we arrived, we weren't sure if needed to seat ourselves but by the time we were about to look at a sign, a kind waitress let us know that we can seat ourselves anywhere and brought us menus. I saw that they had tables with fires which was really cool but unfortunately there were a lot of people sitting there so we just sat at the longer tables. The interior of this place is huge and bright! They have plenty of seating inside and it looks like they do outdoor seating which is dog friendly. We were told that they will have days where they have musicians playing German music and that it attracts quite a large crowd. Our waitress Sara was hilarious, personable and did a great job of taking care of us. She really made the visit all the more memorable and fun! We did order a lot: Berliner Platter with chips and spatzle, Berliner Sliders with fries and a bratzel. We did not realize just how huge the portions were for everything, like the platter was going to be big but we weren't expecting the amount of food for other order. Everything tasted absolutely amazing though! We really enjoyed everything and they do not mess around with flavors cause you taste exactly what they advertised. The house made chips were also fantastic and probably some of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend and I are excited to return and definitely will be sharing this spot to others as we thought we had to drive to Leavenworth for good German food but it is closer to home than we thought!

By some small miracle, we secured an outside table. The hostess put up an umbrella to spare us from sunburn while we ate. The sandwich was a good size and tasty. The meat was cut thicker than I like, though. Also, I paid a $6 upcharge for a side salad that was served in something not much larger than a ramekin. The salad was very fresh and enjoyable, but there wasn't enough of it. My wife went with a smash burger and was thoroughly disappointed with it. Her burger was served cold and just seemed like patties from a grocer's freezer. There were high points. My daughter's Westsider (BLT) sandwich was enjoyable. And we all mooched off her yummy side of fries. Also, her husband's albacore tatami looked and tasted fantastic. Service was fantastic. Our meals were hit or miss, and for the steep prices on the menu, disappointing overall.

Pros: Chill lounge/sitting area at the front corner with sofas, a low bar (accessibility friendly) and board games. Big tables to accommodate groups and various bar seating. Cons: FOH staff interaction. Why we love pubs/breweries is because of the chill, friendly, conversational flow of FOH; their knowledge of the beers and/or cocktails, their passion for sharing it with new customers so they come back again and again ... this vibe fell short at Wildman. TL;DR Good for a basic group of people looking for a brewery experience in town with room for large groups. Me and a group of friends (8 total) were visiting the Olympic peninsula for a camping/backpacking weekend and stopped by Midtown on a busy Friday night and were quickly seated. The food tasted good and we had great service during our visit. Since we were a large group, and already had shared expenses for the weekend, when asked about the check we offered to put everything on one tab to save time. Later on that night however, after we had set up our tents at our campground, my partner began to experience intense stomach pains which turned into full blown food poisoning. I spent the next several hours helping them, before I also got sick. It was at this point we realized that it was from the chicken sandwich my partner had ordered at Midtown, since I had eaten her last remaining bites of the sandwich and this was the only food we shared that other members of our group had not also eaten (we all shared food at lunch earlier in the day). My partner and I essentially spent the night in the campground bathroom (we are extremely lucky they had one). The next morning we were feeling depleted, dehydrated, and decided to head home to recover while the rest of the group continued on the trip. We spent the rest of the weekend trying to get food down. I called Midtown the next business day and let them know what happened for their awareness mostly. They thanked me and told me their policy is a full refund if something like this happens and that the group should expect it soon. We didn't hear from them or get notification of a refund so we reached out a week later and they said they forgot and now the owner would only provide a refund for me and my partner's meals and that they never offered a full refund. They said since we had "12 people" on the ticket they wouldn't do it (our tab for 8 people was $186 before tax and tip) but if we had a doctor's note that could change things. I promised them we weren't making it all up and that I've never gotten food poisoning from a restaurant or even left a bad review before! Tired of the gas lighting I decided it wasn't worth arguing and let them know this will have to be my first. It's a shame their management is unprofessional because our experience in the restaurant with the food and staff was nice.

Dirty Oscar's Annex - Disappointing Experience on 6th Ave…read more We came in as a group of seven, and unfortunately the experience went downhill quickly. First, the service was poor and disorganized. One of my friends arrived early and ordered her drink, but it didn't arrive until after I had already received mine -- even after she asked twice. We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.
