Rainpia is my new favourite Korean restaurant. After hunting everywhere for the elusive Andong Jjimdak , I finally found Rainpia thanks to google. We called in to make sure that they had it and the guy who picked up the phone told us that it takes them 30m to make it so we should call before we drive over. So we did and the Andong Jjimdak did not disappoint! We also ordered the KFC which was also delicious. When we first arrived at the restaurant they already had our table set up for us which was such a happy surprise , to be expected like this really made us feel like we were special. There's privacy in the little booth they gave us and the seats were comfortable. Food arrived really quick -- we were there for less than an hour. So awesome! I've been waiting to review this place for awhile because I wanted to try the different levels of spicy on the fried chicken. My review is purely about fried chicken delivery. I can't speak to the nightlife or the atmosphere, but the fried chicken is 5 star worthy. Dare I say--it may be leagues ahead of BonChon. I prefer the most mild of the fried chicken sauces. The spice levels ramp up quickly, so don't be too aggressive if you have a sensitive palette. It's even worse on the way out, so be kind to yourself. A perfect place to chill and catch up with friends after a long week of work! I would recommend calling ahead of time to make a reservation if you come on weekend nights because they do get pretty busy. My favorites to order are the strawberry soju, bossam, and labokki! They also have a new fried platter which includes dumplings, katsu, fries, and tator tots if you're into snacking on something while you're having a drink. If I had to describe this place in two words it's chicken experts. The chicken in both the stew and fried chicken are extra juicy and tender. I think they had to have brined the chicken for it to be this amazing. One bite into the fried chicken and the juices were dripping everywhere. I think the highlight of our meal was the fried chicken in their sauce (). It's a less sweet general Tso flavor if I had to describe. This is my first time trying it and I loved it. It appears to be a casual hangout spot, making the atmosphere quite cozy and local. We came here on a double date with some friends who highly recommended this place. The korean fried chicken was good but I don't remember being impressed by the breading. I also liked the hearty stew that we had all shared, but next time I would do away with the slices of hotdogs. Overall, it's a restaurant that's between 3 to 4 stars on Yelp. It's nice to have a restaurant that serves other than the typical korean bbq fare, so I'd love to come again and try other dishes. read more

Rainpia is GREAT. Especially to get Korean food and drinks with friends. Every time I come here it's popping and everyone always has a great time. I feel it's a little on the pricier side but it's worth it. The dishes come out perfect each time and they always have the newest flavors of Soju. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Not to mention there's plenty of parking out front which is always a plus. My friends and I usually get the seafood pancake, padak (chicken), fish tofu soup (PAIRS AMAZING with Soju!!! Must try), corn cheese, and the tuna rice balls. They're all great in their own way. I think the soup or tuna rice balls are my favorite though because it's filling and the tuna always tastes fresh & yummy. The soup always neutralizes the soju taste very well. It's a little on the spicy side though so you may want to avoid if you're very sensitive to spicy foods. This is always the go to place for us to drink, eat, and catch up. WOW at the service here, our server was so knowledgeable about every single Korean liquor and wine, even with ones not sold in house. He even made us a special Korean drink when we asked, rolling out a table and definitely bringing out some entertainment for a fun night. I'm so impressed with just the cultural things they provide, like being able to drink out of a bowl and to experience the culture through authentic food. Trip 1 Minimum curb appeal hides the charm of this place. It's nice inside including soft music and it's quiet. The servers are quite helpful even providing a tea I'd requested. The menu lists a good number and variety of dishes, with a few pages covering spirits. The side dishes are different to what I'm used to at other Korean restaurants and they are clearly fresh. The spiced pickle is very good. The beef bulgogi soup with noodles is a bit small for the price but good. I plan to return. Trip 2 The service is great. We had a seafood pancake which is the best I've had in recent memory. The half and half chicken is good and non-spicy. If you want spicy chicken they have it too. read more

Best Korean fried chicken I've had in the US! Came here with a large group of 10 people and we ordered several dishes off the menu, including multiple orders of the fried chicken. One order of the fried chicken contains a whole chicken (or close to it?). The chopped pieces will look a little unfamiliar to people used to the standard white meat/dark meat options at places like KFC and Popeyes, but this is just as good a method if not better. The chicken is flavorful, juicy and cooked to perfection! They also carry other standard Korean fare like the spicy squid with rice dish I tried. The portions are good for the price. This is my FIRST time at a Korean Gastropub and the experience was really fun! They have a large selection of drinks and especially large selection of soju flavors that are often hard to find. The restaurant is a small and intimate place that was really accommodating of our large group (20+). The lighting is really fitting place for a nightly outing or post-festivity meal since they're open late at night (2am). Food: Seafood pancakes were my favorite! Visually, it is very appealing because you can actually see the seafood as a topping instead of being mixed in. The seafood was very generous and the pancakes had a perfect consistency of crunchy and chewy. Service: Service was amazing! The food came out super quickly and the staff made sure to check up on us frequently My only gripe is the tax on to the gratuity which I heard was actually common in most establishments so make sure when you request money back from friends to tax their meal after adding gratuity! read more

For now I am giving them three stars. I walked in on a busy Saturday night not really knowing what I want as I am not that familiar with Korean cuisine. The guy behind the counter was busy he could not answer my questions and did not seek to get advice from somebody who could answer them. So I will chalk that up to them being busy and not really needing my little one to go order but Korean food is extremely expensive and I don't want to waste money until I fully understand what the dishes. I've found my new favorite chicken restaurant. My friends and I came here because of a suggestion from a coworker and we all absolutely love this place. We all ordered the half and half chicken and I'm glad we split one order between two people or else it would've been too much (actually, we still had leftovers). The chicken was delicious; the plain fried one had a crunchy crust and soft meat and the seasoned one had a great taste (not too spicy or sweet). If you want something other than chicken, you have plenty of options here, the menu is huge. I plan on trying new items every time I come here. The service was very good. There's a button on each table that you have to press to get your server to come to your table (which is a great concept) but we had no idea about it, so we waited a little bit before one of my friends saw the button. I have only one complaint, it's that they don't take more than four credit cards per table. There were six of us and most of us don't carry cash usually but thankfully we did that day. This place is good! It seems to be tailored towards people who wants to drink, but I just go for the food as it's pretty good. The rice balls are super simple yet delicious, the chicken is an easy go-to for most people, and the soups and stews are really good as well. The last time I went I got the tuna rice balls and the medium boodae jjigae and it was the perfect portion for two people. I will be back to try more things on their menu! read more

This places seems authentic Korean. Love the rice balls! It seems like Korean "bar food," so not the BBQ stuff. This place is known for their chicken. If you like Bon Chon, this is even better. The authentic stuff! We got the spicy boneless chicken with scallion, corn cheese (sounds weird but so good) and kimchi rice balls. Also really good. Definitely a place to try if you haven't before. What's also great is that it is open super late, around 2 or 3 am, I think. Does not seem to be open for lunch, though. Prices may be a bit more than other Korean place but well worth it. My new fav place. Also service is great! They have a button on the table that you press to get service. Otherwise they don't bother you. Good drinks, good food, good company! Rainpia is the go-to place, especially for some late-night drinks and munchies with your friends. It's a very fun and relaxed environment with up-to-date music (both korean and non-korean) bumping in the background. They offer a variety of korean drinks (soju, makgeoli, beer, etc) as well as some non-korean beers and liquors! If it's your first time there or you are unfamiliar with the drinks, the staff are usually kind enough to suggest some and even mix drinks for you! You typically have to order food if you want to drink there and keep your table, which honestly is not a problem because everything they offer there is delicious! The most popular are the chicken dishes, specifically the pa-dak (fried boneless chicken with shredded green onion on top and a sweet sauce on the side) and the ban-ban chicken (half and half chicken of regular fried chicken and sweet-seasoned fried chicken), and the tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes--get it with cheese and ramen!) They have an assortment of other dishes for meals or dishes to share as a group. You can't really go wrong with anything! Be careful though. Once you start drinking, sometimes you continue to order more bottles and eventually it adds up to a hefty price. The staff here are incredibly kind and fun. They become comfortable with customers and often remember a returning face. Service is great--the only wait you really do is waiting for the food. They are speedy with drink orders and come to you with just a quick push of a button on your table! Drink responsibly and always drive safe! They do NOT want you to drive under the influence/while intoxicated. Be prepared to wait on the weekends later at night. This place is extremely popular and they typically have regulars who go often, so waits are usually expected once it hits 8pm. On a side note- this place is kid friendly during the earlier hours! I remember coming here for an early dinner with my family when I was younger and honestly never really knew how much of a drinking environment this place was until i got older haha read more

Update: Obviously you can tell this restaurant doesn't care about their customers. If they are telling you not to come back and calling you names. Maybe instead of calling your customers names, you should fix your restaurant. Also, I know the shaved ice is usually around that price but it is seriously way too over priced for 7 pieces of half cut fruits. If I could give this place zero stars I would. For a restaurant that has 4.5 reviews I expected a lot more. The place is small and crowed. The only item I found appealing on the menu was the shaved ice. And good thing I did not expect a lot from it since the fruit shaved ice only came with 7 pieces of fruit in a small bowl and brown shaved ice?? for $6.95 it was waay over priced. The service here sucked, there was one person waiting on 7 tables but the food did come out at a pretty fast rate. And what I don't get is why they used one of those meat tenderizers (yes, a meat tenderizer!!!) to fix the center table (where my party was sitting at) 11 at night when there's a full crowd, it was a loud banging sound for a good three minutes and caused the table to shake. Such a cute dinner spot! The vibe is very trendy and cozy. I ordered the bulgogi rice balls and the kimchi rice balls. Both were very flavorful especially the bulgogi one. I also ordered the half & half friend chicken dish where you get half plain fried chicken and half of the portion tossed in a sauce. Really good Korean food. Ended up here on a late Saturday night after trying 2 Korean bbq places nearby. Glad we ate here because everything we ordered was soooo good. We ordered the Bulgogi rice balls, corn cheese, kimchi pancake, and seafood pancake for appetizers (we were a group of 6 hungry people). I'd say all the appetizers were really good and tasty except for the kimchi pancake, which had an interesting aftertaste. We ordered so many entrees I don't even remember all of them. But worth special mentioning is the boneless chicken with spring onions and sweet sauce and jjampong. Boneless chicken was nice and juicy and the sweet sauce really went well with it. Rainpia is a really cool place to kick back after a long week - we dropped in on a Saturday night around 8pm and it was poppin'! The ambiance is really great and I love that Elicott city has a korean bar-like setting with pretty good food. The flavors in the rabokki were on point - it wasn't too spicy (I normally find myself chugging water at other establishments that sell this dish) but the spice level was perfect and there was just enough food to share for two people. PS also made for a fantastic dipping sauce for the fried chicken! We also ordered the half half chicken - the chicken without sauce was good (crispy, juicy, albeit a little dry but nothing that a little sauce from the rabokki couldn't fix). The other half of the chicken though was a little too soggy for my taste (but i guess it's all about preference) and I'll definitely be ordering sauce on the side next time for that added crispy effect. But all in all, I still prefer the texture and crispness of Bonchon chicken (the chicken here had a different kind of crunchiness to it - didn't have a major CRUNCH factor to it and was a little bit more mild in the fried-texture but still...not bad!) Service was the only thing that was severely lacking - we stood around in the front door for a good 15/20 minutes before someone came to give us a wait time for our seats. There was also only two people working that night which is absolutely ridiculous because looking at the previous reviews, it looks like it's pretty packed every weekend - would highly suggest hiring another person on these busy weekends to make it a better experience for not only the customers but for employees too. Also I really want to mention (at no fault to our waiters) that it really felt Dapdaphae (which means anxious/uneasy feeling in korean) when we had to ask for something because he was one of the two employees running around refilling waters, taking orders, cleaning tables, AND seating people/giving wait times etc in a packed room. I could practically hear the suppressed sigh coming out from his mouth - which as a customer makes you feel really bad (and SUPER hesitant to push that button on the table because you don't want to burden someone - not really a good feeling to have when dining out). Overall, the ambiance is LIT and has a laid back but hip kind of vibe to it. The food is pretty good for bar food and love the extensive menu (and pairs nicely with any of the beer or soju on the menu). Their food was really good. My friends and I tried the corn cheese, cheese fries, fried chicken and budae jjigae. The fried chicken would come in a relatively big serving, so if you're really hungry I would recommend that! But other than fried chicken, they have a large variety of foods (noodles, rice, soup/stew etc..) on the menu you can try out. All their food comes out piping hot so be careful not to get burned though Regarding service, they have a small button you can press if you need service which I really liked. The servers were also really nice and patient when we were taking a while to decide what to order. Went here for a birthday celebration. Made a reservation 5 days in advance but there was no record of it when we arrived. It was okay because there was an open table! It's a very lively korean pub and I enjoy the atmosphere and the food. The chicken is very delicious and well seasoned. The bossam was exceptionally good comparing it to the time I had it in Korea it was delicious. The atmosphere is super cozy and intimate, and it's almost like everyone who goes there knows each other which is nice. Service is A1, Jun always takes great care of me and my party -- he is especially great at accommodating large groups (15+ even!); just make sure to call in advance as Rainpia is always busy, even on Tuesdays. My favorite dishes are the padak, seafood pancake, budae jjigae, fried chicken, and bossam, but everything is great. Try all of the soju flavors!! They have the less commonly found ones too like Strawberry and Plum which are my favorites. Love this place, this place has really tasty food and the grape soju is everything! Came here with my sister and her fiancé for her birthday and the cubbies are super cute. I prefer the one with the outdoor chairs. I really wish they would add more greenery in their booths and make all the chairs the patio furniture. Because it's so comfy and cozy and intimate. It's really nice for small groups of friends or family, i went on a Sunday evening and even after they closed they weren't so bothersome to kick us out. Super friendly staff, and great food. Was nice that it came with radish, kimchi radish, and jalapeño and onion. However, we only noticed the rice was missing when we got home. Bulgogi dish was tasty - even without rice - but the chicken was not as crispy (due to sauce on the chicken). Pick up was quick and easy.
