Delicious food! Served incredibly hot and so quick! I love the simplicity of the menu too. You are coming here for chicken and that's what you get in varying quantities of your choosing. Will be back!

We were so glad to find a Portillo's on our vacation. We had visited them in Florida a few years…read moreback and really liked the food. This one in Champaign was just as good. I got the Italian beef with sweet & hot peppers with the gravy on the side (I don't like my sandwich falling apart on me) and french fries. My husband got the hot dogs, which came dressed with a dill pickle, tomatoes, and hot peppers, and a side of onion rings. We also splurged with the yummy-looking desserts (strawberry shortcake and lemon cake) in the cooler near the register. Everything was so good. The beef (which there was plenty of!) had so much flavor even without the gravy. The bun it was on was hearty enough to hold it. The hot dogs tasted good quality. The fries were good (not at all greasy), and the onion rings had such a good flavor, not overly breaded. The desserts were a perfect ending. The restaurant was very clean (including the bathrooms). There was someone cleaning something (including the walls) the entire time we were there. I wish we had one closer to where we live here in Ohio!

I ordered a big beef. And it had close to the same amount of beef a regular had on it. When I ordered the kid that was at the register seemed lost. How do you want your beef. To me there's three options. Dry, wet, or dipped. I said wet he said so dipped. No just a little extra wetness. So you want it on the side no. Just wet. So on the side. So I had to add my own gravy. Why do I have to make my sandwich. Cause if I did I would've put a lot more beef on it. Then they completely had the bathrooms closed for cleaning how's one supposed to wash their hands after eating.

The service was quick and organized. When we walked into the restaurant, it felt welcoming and the smell coming from the grill filled the air with their famous seasoning. We didnt want to go too far off the interstate and found Freddys was a pretty close stop. I did the number 1 which was a double burger with everything plus a side and drink. I ended up taking the onions off as they were pretty big. Went for onion rings instead of fries. The fact they have a ketchup pump and fountain soda where you can refill as you want are big plusses to me. Ive noticed some places will leave ketchup in bottles on the table in the sun which can make it taste weird. Not here. Everything was clean. There were also some special dipping sauces. They got the orders for all six of us out in 5 minutes or so, dont think anyone had anything mixed up on their order. The burger was a smash type burger which I dont remember ever having. They tased great, fresh bun, and good cheese and everything else. Onion rings good and crispy and tasted great with the ketchup. Fresh pop and fresh ice. Bathrooms were clean. Nothing to complain about here, I would definitely go again. If i could compare this to another chain it would be steak and shake.

More than five years have passed since I even had a Five Guys burger, which would have been from their Medford, MA location next to Wellington Station. Finally, after 3 years of living in Urbana, IL and splurging on fast-food burgers everywhere, the time had come to give their Champaign joint a try. Given how scary past Yelp reviews describe them, do they fulfill our Five Guys' experiences of old and carry on their reputation? The answer: A big, fat, dripping with cheese and fresh toppings, YES! Spacious, clean, free peanuts for the taking, freshly made in front of you, and served piping hot, we were reminded last night why we adore Five Guys. That burger, a cross between Culver's and Wendy's (by my quick estimation), was divine. Those cajun fries were as tasty and addicting as I remembered. The service, while not above and beyond cheery, was communicative and all that was necessary. Yes, they are pricey, but you do get a very filling burger with as many free toppings as you want. We also were given a bag full of those cajun fries, although we were spared extra regular fries we had ordered, oddly enough. All that considered, we are very happy to have Five Guys back in our lives once again.
