You Had Me At Chicken Fingers---Raising Cane's is FFC that specializes in chicken fingers. Their newest location just spawned in the Millilani Town Center on June 14, 2020 and is just adjacent to the likes of that "Jack" place and Taco Bell. This was the previous location of Burger King and Mililani High School and the Library are also situated in its grasp. I was blessed to be in this area just the 2nd day of their grand opening, as I had passed by several times before wondering when they'd open up. I had worked up an appetite from a day of errands and Ive never had RC ever before so this was a nice treat to discover!
My experience began afternoon as I noticed a line of cars waiting in the drive thru. The area was controlled and organized by RC workers guiding people in cars as to not congest the area. It was about 20 deep so I chose to walk in as I saw parked cars entering and leaving fairly quickly. Upon entering this brand new establishment, another worker at the door help guide me where to go and where to stand as I was pleased to see the customers and workers cheerful, very motivated, and Covid 19 compliant. Place was very clean and love the decor!
I ordered the whats dubbed the Caniac Combo which comes with 6 Chicken Fingers, 2 Cane Secret Sauce, Texas Toast, Crinkle Fries, Cole Slaw, and a Drink (I got lemonade!) The chicken was hot, moist, thicc, and plump, sauce was creamy and spicy and went well with the fingers, Texas Toast was soft and buttery (im not sure why its called Texas tho lol), not a fan of crinkle fries but I ate em all! (So much for my Keto), Cole slaw tasted crunchy and fresh unlike that other place that has chicken and fries (heh), and I enjoyed every sip of my revitalizing lemonade (wasnt too sweet and had the right amount of tang). I polished my "corrected food" (see below) fairly quickly, I only wish there was some Corn!
For opening on its second day, I was impressed with their organization, speed, and friendly staff. Everyone from my order taker (lady was awesome in explaining the combos and food questions I had) to the workers regulating the traffic outside, to the drive thru workers thanking everyone that came, to my smiling order giver, to the cooks and cleaners bustling in the kitchen, and especially the young lady that made my lemonade and walked it to me while I was waiting for my order (I really needed a quench!), all showed a level of Aloha thats rarely seen and especially in these times. Thats the good...now about what happened after I ordered...
After 10 minutes I got my order (amazingly fast for a new and busy food joint, cant say the same for the cars in the drive thru though), I walked to my car highly anticipating sinking my teeth into some crunchy plump chicken fingers, I opened the box ready to dig in, I immediately noticed there was only 4 chicken fingers in there and I know I ordered the one with 6...I thought about just leaving but paying 5 more bucks for 2 missing chicken fingers swayed me to go back. I was a lil sad, but I thought okay no problem, I have my reciept and I had already forgiven them since this was just their 2nd day and its fairly busy. I had a fair case at getting my order corrected and maybe or maybe not I'll get an apology too I figured.
I return to the counter where the young spirited lady who gave me my order was there to assist me. I explain that I ordered 6 chicken fingers and I got a plate with only 4 Chicken Fingers. She ask for the receipt and quickly goes to give me the correct order. Then some random dude worker that I didn't see in the process of my intial order looks at me and says "You Took The Wrong Order." Okay 1st off:
1) Hi, Who Are You?
2) Thank You Captain Obvious, yes I "received" the wrong order, thats why I am here waiting and exchanging this...
3) You guys "Gave" me the wrong order, "I" Did Not "Take" The wrong order
4) Please do not blame your customers for your mistakes!
From this point it was like my wonderful experience was tainted with a bad chicken egg. The young lady assisting me apologized and says it was her fault, though it should have been this random person who delivered an off putting and seemingly blaming remark should have been the the one to apologize after his comment. I had already moved passed and forgiven the ordering mistake so there was no need for this blaming interaction directed at me as I say this with much serious thoughts and especially in these times, someone else in this situation could have reciprocated far worse. The young lady gave me a calming and professional response while this other dude added a poorly communicated remark. Despite the stellar service from all the other workers and the delsih food, this one "bad chicken egg" encounter was still capable of rottening one star off my already generous review as it did affect my chicken bliss, while "trying" to enjoy my meal.
Nevertheless, thank you for the delish food and fast service Raising Cane's! read more
