    Akki Roti with Veg Kurma
    Vivek S.

Good food and great ambience. Owner was very friendly and we offered our honest feedback about the homely food that we enjoyed . Felt like we were in Bangalore. Had the Akki roti and veg kurma as well as Set dosa with Chicken kurma. Food came out quick , Had masala chai afterwards . No complaints.

Great spot for Indian baked goods and snacks. Everything tasted fresh, and there's a really nice variety -- from savory items to sweets -- so it's easy to find something you'll enjoy. I personally love the puffs and the chocolate cake. The staff was friendly and helpful.

***USP: South Indian style bakery also serving several popular Indian dishes like chaat, indo Chinese and biryanis. ***AMBIANCE: this is bakery cum restaurant. The few tables are placed along side the display counters and can get crowded during rush hour. The display counters are stocked up with several varieties of Indian style cakes like black forest, pineapple etc. They also have several Indian style snacks on the shelves lining the walls. ***FOOD: the menu is very expansive and hence it's obvious that some items might be outstanding while others not so much. We got a lot of dishes to share like Vijaywada chicken biryani, egg fried rice, Hakka noodles, chilli chicken, bhel puri and masala puri. Apparently the masala puri is one of their most popular items and it didn't disappoint. The bhel puri on the other hand was lackluster. The vijaywada chicken biryani was the best dish we had. Looks like they use ample food coloring across their dishes though. The fried rice and noodles were reminiscent of the street vendor style from India. The saltiness can be dialed down a notch.

I came here once to try their pastries, and they were good. I got the black forest and mango-flavored cakes along with a coconut bun. Each of the items tasted good. Intrigued by the vast range of items on their restaurant menu, I decided to stop by again. This time I ordered appam with fish curry and an egg puff. The items were a miss this time. The appam was folded in half and packed, and the two sides ended up sticking to each other. It tasted more like an undercooked dosa than an appam. The fish curry was ok. The egg puff tasted stale. Needless to say, I'll stick to just the bakery items if I ever return here.

We came here specifically to try the Bangalore masala puri since very few places offer it. Overall experience was decent, it feels like very typical bakery in India with lots of snacks everywhere. The food was decent, nothing memorable but not bad. The masala puri was a good taste, but not the most authentic. The avocado bhel was good. We wanted to get a Bombay sandwich and ordered the masala aloo sandwich and it was too much potato, we should've asked which sandwich is the typical Bombay sandwich so that's on us. They also have a lot of cakes and pastries. Tasted the triple chocolate cake and it was good. Will be back just for the masala puri when we crave it.

Loved the masala puri and chicken donne biryani at Raja Rani Bakery. Tastes really close to the Bangalore versions. Service is quick too. Such a satisfying spot.

*Vegetarian Foodie Review* As soon as we walked in, this place totally felt like your typical Indian bakery (ambiance) - the kind of spot where you just pop in to grab some standard bakery goodies. We were hungry so decided to dine in and try few things below. - Veg Puff - 3/5: Curry filling inside tasted average. Puff itself was baked well. - Egg Puff - 4/5: My husband said it was the best he ever had! - Chocolate Truffle Pastry - 3/5: I tried this bakery's chocolate cake because I loved it at a friend's baby shower. But when I had it at the bakery, it was rock-hard. The owner said people usually microwave it, so he brought out a microwaved slice, but it was even worse - the filling was burnt. Doesn't seem like they're freezing or storing it right, and the texture is way off. However, the taste itself was amazing. - Veg Fried rice - 4/5: It was not the typical fried rice, tasted unique and the fried cauliflower added a cool twist. They have savory snacks and sweets for purchase. We purchased Puffs. Will definitely be back to grab some cake slices and try them a little later at room temperature. Hoping it will make a difference and we get to experience the real flavor!

Egg-free bakery heaven! Tons of options, all super delicious . Prices are on higher side . Casual cafe like tight seating. Pastries were good . Tikki was also great. Paneer bhurji sandwich was ok. Still, worth a visit if you're craving something sweet egg-free. Try their Rose tres leches cake. Mm Update : I ordered the rose tres leches cake over the phone. It was one of the best eggfree cakes in the bay area. It was highlight of the party. Very delicious, soft and spongy we can taste the flavour through out the cake . Thanks to Raja Rani Bakery. Worth the money.

As you enter this place, you are greeted with the display counters which are lined with colorful pastries, savoury puffs & regional snacks, creating a warm, homely vibe. Highlights are : 1. Basket Chaat 2. Rasmalai Tresleches 3. Sandwiches which come with amazing potato fries 4. Different types of Puffs - Veg / Non Veg 5. Eggless Cake & Pastries Their packaging is top tier for take out orders and their menu has a wide range of chaats, Indo-Chinese dishes, Mumbai sandwiches, bakery classics and even mini thalis offering a versatile culinary experience

I had been craving for a nice egg puff with taste similar to what we find in Indian bakeries in the Bay Area. Oh boy, I feel so glad to have found this bakery! This place has the best egg puffs that I've had so far. It is very flaky and has good amount of curry in the puff along with an egg. The service was good and the staff are very friendly too. Also tried the egg fried rice which was nice. I'd definitely come back for the egg puff and maybe try their chicken puff too the next time!

We tried only their pastries and baked stuff and it was superb! Reminded me of my local bakery back in India and how I grew up eating these very same items as an after school snack :) Dilkush was my fav followed by honey cake. The puff and maska bun were also delicious. They have a wide variety of Indian pastries to try, I'll be sure to come back for Black Forest and Coconut Bun.

I went here on a Saturday around 7pm and there was only about 5 other people at the restaurant at that time. There was no wait when we arrived and they allowed everyone to choose their own table since it wasn't busy at that time. Anyways, I was so excited to try this bakery place when I found out they have EGGLESS cakes! I've never tried an eggless cake before, so I was surprised by how moist and flavorful their cakes are. They also have a lot of different cakes to choose from here too and I actually ended up hearing people around me celebrate their birthday that day. Out of the cakes I tried that day, my favorite was the Butterscotch cake. I also tried the Rasmalai cake, but I wasn't a huge fan of that one since I'm not used to that type of flavor. I'd recommend this place! This bakery restaurant has a good variety of desserts that are not too sweet. Their food items sounded good too, but I didn't try any on the day I went since I already ate before coming here.

Left to right, top to bottom: Butterscotch, pineapple, rasmalai, lychee, mango. Also apple cake in right box

It's not listed on the website but cake slices are available for anywhere between $2.49-$3.99 each! I ordered an assortment (pictured) and we all thought they were delicious with the soft whipped cream (no cloying buttercream here!). The fruit flavors are subtle in the white cake but there are also pieces embedded in the cream layers. I also bought an "apple cake," which was a doughy ball spiced with chai flavors and filled with apple chunks. It looks like recipes add cocoa powder but I didn't really taste chocolate in this one, probably since it was covered by the strong spices. There were some Indian sweets in the case closest to the door but when I asked about them, the man helping me said they were 3-4 days old and seemed reluctant to sell them to me for that reason. I forgot to ask when a fresh batch would be made but I appreciate the honesty!

But we were undeterred and ordered anyway. I'd gotten the palak paneer, my favorite Indian dish and my usual basis for comparison, with kulcha naan and it was okay, but nothing to really write home about. The palak paneer was a bit sweeter than I had expected, but other than that, just fine. My coworker and I also split vegetable pakora that came with a somewhat spicy sauce (I am a spice wimp, but he is very much not), and those were pretty good. I don't quite remember what my coworker got as his main, maybe one of the dal dishes, but he also thought it was fine. The location itself is pretty small, and seems to be more for takeout than sit down diners, although that is what we did. Parking was pretty easy in the plaza, but that might be because the pizza place next door appeared to be closed? Things felt slightly dingy, but I think maybe in truth things were just a bit worn, right down to the Corelle plates which seemed like they had been in service for a long time. Decor is pretty sparse, but the lady behind the counter was nice enough when we were ordering. Overall, not a bad experience, but also not much of a draw for me. But if you like your Indian food a little on the sweeter side, maybe this is the place for you.

Tonight I was craving a home style chicken and rice dish similar to what my mom makes . Now I know it's not possible to get that from a restaurant, but the closest to that is the Donne biryani preparation that a few places offer in the Bay Area. So I looked up Yelp and found this spot. The fact that it already had 4.9 stars was reassuring but I didn't put too many expectations on it. But what I did was call the place and make sure they'd be open by the time I made that 28 mile drive. I spoke to a person named Sagar who took my order and told me to take my time getting there and drive carefully! Husband and I got there around 9:30pm and it's a cloud kitchen setup with kitchens in the back and a point of sale kiosk and counter at the front. As instructed I called Sagar and he came up to the counter with my food, and also let me know he had added a free dessert since I drove all the way from Hayward . Husband and I got home and immediately dug in and what can I say, the flavors totally took me back to my mom's kitchen. The Donne biryani was bursting with taste, and what made it superb was that the flavors were in balance, with neither the spices nor the aromatics being overpowering in any way. The other dish, the pepper chicken was epic by itself, and should have been enjoyed with a bread of some sort, because the biryani didn't need any accompaniment. As if this meal wasn't divine enough the cherry on top was the pineapple kesari dessert that Sagar kindly added to our takeout bag. Thanks Nalapaka, for a taste of home, away from home !

It has officially become our family's go-to dinner spot, and for good reason--they truly never miss a beat. The Standout Dishes The menu is a celebration of authentic flavors.
