My family (me, my wife and my son) are so saddened to find out that Rakki Sushi ended up closing when we wanted to go a few months ago. Rakki Sushi had the best ratio of fish to rice. We stumbled upon Rakki when we first moved to Chino Hills in 2023, and took a break from coming when our son was in the oven. It was definitely our go to Sushi spot when we had the energy to make it out there. We loved the various choices of nigiri, sushi rolls and even the appetizers. Shortly before they closed, the owner even gave us a complimentary yellowtail collar which was absolutely delicious, amazingly flavorful and super juicy (we never ordered this previously, since we always went with the AYCE option). The AYCE was very reasonably priced for what you got, and could be considered on the very cheap end, for quality of the food you got and options available. Rakki Sushi got high praises from our foodie friends who would visit us as well. The chef and staff were always super nice, they always came to check on how we were doing when they weren't too overwhelmed with the busyness, and we loved how super friendly they were. Our son loved the staff as well, and he always gave them smiles back in response to theirs. The ambience was more of a local/casual sushi spot, rather than somewhere fancy, which my wife and I greatly enjoyed since we like dressing comfortably in just t-shirts and joggers. The tables, seats, and utensils were always clean when we went there. The men's restroom wasn't the cleanest looking, but given the location it was understandable. I read some of the reviews that this is one of the best AYCE sushi places and I've been wanting to try it. The place didn't look like much from the outside -- a little run down in an older strip mall. But you can't judge a restaurant from the facade. I wouldn't say it's the best sushi I've ever had -- it's not. But for an AYCE place -- wow, it's pretty good. My previous favorite place was tomikawa in Irvine, but this place might be better. All the sushi we had was pretty fresh. And the other stuff we had such as jalapeno poppers and gyoza were very flavorful and tasty. The baked scallop could have been a little less runny, but the flavor was very good. The pieces of sushi are all very small -- I provide a picture with my index finger for perspective. Since the place is AYCE, this isn't a diss... Just something you should know. So if you think you want 4 large pieces of sushi, you might order 6 or even 8 here. In a way, I actually liked the smaller pieces, as they're easier to pop in your mouth and chew, and you can easily order a lot of different kinds to try without worrying that you can't finish all of them. The only thing missing is udon or ramen. I like to finish off a meal with a little warm noodles, and that's a notable miss. I'm not sure it's totally worth a deliberate trip from Irvine ... Needed a fast charger for my eq and found one in coroner. As I drove in saw Arby's and was a bit sad knowing it was that or nothing while charging. As I walked to Arby's I saw this sushi place....it look a little older But why not. I am sure glad I didn't judge a book by its cover. Fresh and great. The beer was also good on this hot summer day. Was craving for sushi and came across this place while in the area for work. Parking was easy. It was Thursday 5pm and I got seated right away. Restaurant is pretty decent size, very open where you could see everyone in the dining room. Not sure how busy they get, but seems like a good place for groups. There was only one server and she managed the whole dining room herself. Well done! Food came out really quick. I had the AYCE menu. After two rounds, I was full and done. Overall, not too bad. We came to Rakki because our go to "All you can eat sushi" was closed. So we just looked up the next closest place and Rakki popped up with great reviews. Walking in they had a very spacious area, music was great and they have half off beer after 5pm which was also a hit for the hubby! Rakki did not disappoint! Rakki is very underrated. The sushi tastes fresh and many of the baked & fried items were made fresh to order. We went for all you can eat and we were impressed. The service was spectacular and the food came out in a timely fashion. Made to-go-orders are very reasonably priced. This is definitely my new sushi go-to. I particularly liked their habit of giving us half rolls so we had room to try more sushi. The restaurant itself is in a less the ideal location, but once you get inside it's a good atmosphere. Red leather booths are available & k-pop jams serenade you through your the restaurant. It was a bit warm, so I will stay cranked up the AC, but overall a pleasant experience. My favorite appetizers are the shrimp boat & the baked mussels. I really enjoyed The tuna nigiri, the tuna was so bright red& appetizing. This place had been in my bookmarks for ages. When one of my foodie coworkers recommended it for lunch, I was excited to try. It was a nice big space and not busy at all for lunch. Still, we did have to go out of our way to flag the server down for extra menus and to get the check. My water was never refilled either. She was nice, but just not very attentive. Since it was my first time here, I deferred to my colleague's better judgment and split a bunch of rolls with her. I am so glad that I did! The blue moon sushi was so tasty. I am so sensitive to spice and I was happy I could handle it. The Rakki roll and baked scallop roll were also amazing. I hadn't had edamame in a long time and I enjoyed theirs, but it was very buttery and almost sweet, so beware. My teammates didn't care much for it. Was so excited to finally try out this place because we saw it on TikTok. I should have known the second I walked in the place and it was so hot. To me excessive heat & raw fish are not a good combo. We actually asked if we could sit closer to the portable fan. It didn't help. The thermometer on the portable A/C fan read 87°. I wish I would've taken a picture because I know people aren't gonna believe me. I wanted to give them a chance because I love supporting businesses in my city. We purchased the AYCE sushi but the heat was so overwhelming that after a few pieces I couldn't eat. My sister couldn't eat anymore either, but the waitress informed us that every piece we failed to eat would cost us a dollar. This is our second visit and it wasn't any better. The fish wasn't as fresh or high quality as other places. Everyone saying this is as good or better than SGC needs to get out more, even on a bad night they were better. Most of the tables were taken or needed to be cleared, clearly they are getting more business. But there was only one server/busses and one sushi chef. They were both backed up, after a while a second person came out of the back. It took almost an hour to get edamame and goyza. Refills on water were difficult to get and we never got refills on tea. The center of the floor is empty with extra chairs stacked on the side and you can't sit at the bar, almost like during Covid. Has an empty cold feeling. Rakki Sushi is probably the best sushi spot in the area. We have not tried the AYCE yet but have dined in a couple times for individual rolls. Both times that we've gone were great experiences and I'll happily order from the AYCE menu in the near future! Parking is usually very easy as the restaurant is located in a strip mall near the freeway. It doesn't get super busy (at least the two times we've gone) which I hope will change as the owners are very kind and service is extremely fast. Something to note is that their weekday lunch specials are for both takeout and dine in. Definitely take advantage of this deal -- the normal prices here are pretty standard and fair for sushi but you will get your money's worth for lunch. Sushi quality is, again, probably the best in the area and portion sizes for three rolls are definitely enough to feed us despite not doing the AYCE option. The chef gave us a couple pieces of free sushi to try which is a great perk! If you're in the area and have a craving for sushi, definitely check out and support this local restaurant! read more

You can expect friendly service and attentive employees when you come to Rakki! Our server was super kind and nice. They weren't hesitant to ask us if we needed anything else several times throughout our dining experience, and when we did, they did it with a smile. We also received complimentary foods from the chef-- two pieces of sushi and green ice cream at the end -- both very delicious and were lovely surprises! The food was also very good. At a price point of about $14 per roll, which is actually considered cheap nowadays for most sushi restaurants, I would say Rakki provides great value for your buck. Both times I've been here now, it's been pretty empty (usually one other diner), but we've also only come near closing time. I was super excited to try Rakki Sushi AYCE for the very first time, but I was not impressed and somewhat disappointed. As I walked in, the smell was unpleasant, and I knew it wasn't me because I took a nice shower before I got here. (LMAO) The good 4/5 The female server was super attentive and nice from start to finish, refilling my green ice tea. Cute decor with 2 TVs good mix of music playing The bad 3/5 If the rice was a bit firmer, the sushi would taste a lot better. I think they use cheaper ingredients, which is why the quality wasn't on par with others. AYCE sushi places -some rolls were MEH. Their teriyaki beef was so sweet, like pure sugar water. I don't know why $30.00 for AYCE doesn't include any Kama or deserts, making Golden Corral a 4 star ratings Even their basic CA rolls were awful. I had better luck at a Chinese buffet. Rakki Sushi has a lot of potential if they use better ingredients and firmer sushi rice. To be honest, I like eating sushi at the Lux buffet, but I haven't been there for awhile, so I don't know what's changed. I miss eating at Sakana and All That Sushi in LV, NV. Maybe Rakki management needs to stop by and get some pointers from Sakana and All That Sushi to bring in more innovations and patrons. This is our go-to spot for sushi in Corona. Pricing for AYCE is reasonable though the quality of fish rivals some of the more expensive sushi spots I've been to. Our favorite things to get are nigiri and hand rolls, but we've gotten some of their special rolls, which are also tasty. Service is really good here, too. They have some of the best no rice sushi's (not that I'm on a diet- they're just really good)! They're closed at 3-5pm for a 2hr break. The staff is friendly/sweet. Everything was pretty good except one roll that was absolutely disgusting. None of us liked it at all. They wouldn't take it back, and said we had to eat it or else it would be charged as a "leftover." How much was the "leftover" fee? Two thirds of the price of an entire all-you-can-eat dinner. I would never come back here after being treated like that. You are not going to make me eat something nasty. If I order more than I can eat and leave it, fine. This unassuming place rocks. First time here, it was busy and almost full. They were under staffed but they kept up with the service. My wife and I ordered bento boxes. In the bento, we had salmon teriyaki, mixed tempura, sushi, roll, salad, gyoza with miso soup. It was all delicious. My favorite was the salmon. Grilled perfectly to the point you can eat the skin. They have an extensive menu. We started with the edamame then 2 of us had the dinner bento box. I had sushi, gyoza, and spicy tuna roll. The gyoza was fried, hence the 4 stars. I like steamed gyoza. My husband had 8 piece sashimi and I also ordered salmon skin roll. They were good. Our daughter had albacore, yellowtail, and roe. She liked the roe but not really the other sushi that much.
