My husband took me here for birthday happy hour appetizers and drinks. The food was delicious! We had the edamame, California roll, shrimp tempura roll, miso soup, a fried crab appetizer I don't recall the name of and don't see it on their online menu but it was like shredded crab deep fried (great) and a sliced fried chicken appetizer. All very good choices and no leftovers :-). And the hot saki was a nice plus! We'll be back, there are many more dishes to try for dinner (and lunch). Came here on a Sunday afternoon and we got seated right away. There is ample parking although we did park in the back since it was busy in the plaza. Their menu is very unique and extensive which is my favorite part of this restaurant! I ordered the yuzu salmon roll and beef roll which I've never seen or had before at a different restaurant. The beef roll was absolutely delicious, very warm and cream cheesy, perfect for people that dont like cold raw sushi. The yuzu salmon roll had really fresh high quality salmon but the lemon taste was a bit too much for me. The tuna fries was the best part!!! The fries were crispy and it overall tasted very sweet. Good mixture of fries and tuna. Literally my favorite appetizer I've ever gotten in a sushi restaurant. A perfect western meets sushi dish as well! Nice addition to Dos Lagos, Dada has an extensive menu of both food and beverages. The bento boxes are a good deal, but in a recent visit, we ordered sushi and while not the most traditional or best, the fish was fresh and the portions were very generous. The main pet peeve might be a more personal one, but I prefer rolls/nigiri with less rice and the ones here were quite filling. The spicy tuna roll and the yellowtail onion rolls were enormous! But each piece of nigiri was also large. Also, the sushi rice was a bit dry during the lunch service. I order salmon sashimi for lunch. I sat at the bar area. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay with lunch which in my previous visit they did not have. The ambiance is beautiful and classy. Service was very good. It was pricier than other sushi places I've been to, but that may be because of their location in the heart of the Dos Lagos shopping center. Walked in and it is a very big restaurant and pretty chill vibes we were greeted and seated immediately and our server which was a guy with glasses was extremely friendly and let us pick our seating. I ordered a bento box off the lunch menu because it was still before 3pm. Roughly about like 10 minutes passed, the manager came to me and said that is was the dinner bento box pricing as that only applies to the weekdays. I was unaware of this and it wasnt stated on the menu but she said it was okay for this time but maybe next time reiterate that on your website or when I ordered it not 10 minutes after. We got the spicy korean fried chicken, salmon bento box, and a baked salmon roll. Presentation was nice and everything looked well! However tastewise it just didn't meet my expectation and I thought the salmon was going to be a part of the roll but it is a filet over the rolls instead. My family ate at Dada sushi tonight after going to the movie theater at around 9:15pm. The host whom is older Korean ladyI believe greeted us with a clear attitude of why are you coming so late and going to make me stay later kind of attitude. Food was decent, but just before 9:50pm or so she walks over and hands me the bill and asks if I could pay so she could start closing up. My family and I had lunch here on a Sunday, and overall our bellies were satisfied and had a pleasant time. I personally liked the decor. It was also nice that the owner greeted us when we walked in. Service was great and prompt. We got bentos and various sushi rolls. The bentos were pretty good deals for what they give. My parents appreciated that their chicken was not salty (they are super picky when it comes to sodium content). I wished I took more pics of everyone's sushi rolls, but they were gone pretty quickly. The fish in the rolls was good but not as fresh as what we've had at other places. Maybe it was just that day, since others who reviewed said they had fresh fish when they went. A hidden gem! We stopped in and were so glad we did! I got the lunch special bento box with salmon and a California roll. My fiancé had a Spicy Salmon Roll. Both dishes were great! When it came to the day of the actual cutting tuna show they called me TWICE to confirm if I was going to show, which was no problem. Hubby and I did not have any dinner plan, we just happened to see this place while walking around Dos Lagos and decided to try them out and we are soooooooooo glad that we did. My husband, who is a whiskey drinker, had a bottle of Bizen Maboroshi sake and he absolutely loved it. He said it reminds him of my fav gin!! And I had their Yuzu Orion - Orion on tap with a splash of yuzu liquor, and that was seriously so refreshing and delicious, pair so well with our dinner. As for food, We got the omakase dinner special that the owner suggested to us and omg, what an experience!! Fresh Hokkaido scallop nigiri is something I will never forget. The staff was nice but it was a little hard to grab their attention from time to time. I will admit we had the tendency to be a little indecisive or caught up in our conversations, so it's possible we could've confused them? Beyond that, it's a lovely restaurant and the atmosphere is inviting. We typically order almost all the bellies for yellow tail, salmon, albacore, and then we would get the giant scallops, eel, etc. then we just share with each other from there. They ended up being soooooo good!! They were a notch higher than our favorite spot - we often compare any new places we try to our fav. The flavors, the taste, texture - everything just came together so well!! We also ordered octopus and one of the rolls (can't remember which one...it's been a few weeks) and those were really good as well. At first glance, the food looked incredible and I was very excited to try it out, however, my husband and I were not impressed by the taste, especially for the price . My husband decided to get a chicken katsu bento box, and his chicken was very dry and some of the pieces were burnt. He unfortunately, did not eat most of it . My Alaskan roll had no flavor nor spice even though it said on the description it was spicy salmon. The amount of food was fair but honestly the taste was subpar. We ended up getting the sushi taco as well and we were not expecting it to be on a cold tortilla. We've had something similar at other places and it's always been a crispy shell. We got to try: Yellowtail sashimi - so fresh and tasty Tuna sashimi - fresh and the cuts were thick Vegas roll & Oishi roll - both rolls were good in size and because we're Philadelphia roll fans, the spin on these didn't disappoint. The restaurant is clean and spacious. There's ample amount of table and bar seating. We came right at opening on a Sunday so it wasn't crowded but we did notice the lunch crowd starting to roll in. We will never be dining here again due to the horrible experience. We had called the day prior to the live tuna cutting and had made reservations for the event per the instructions of the hostess. It began at 6pm, however, we arrived at 5:30pm, again per the instructions of the hostess. The restaurant was completely empty of guests with the exception of one group sitting at a booth. We were told we would have to wait until they left in order to be seated because that's the booth we were "assigned". We thought "no problem!" We'll just sit at the bar and wait. In the meantime two different employees checked on us and confirmed we were there for the tuna cutting, asked for our names and wrote down on a list that we would be ordering the tuna bento box because it was first come first serve. 6:00pm the tuna cutting had started, the restaurant is now completely packed and we are still waiting at the bar. We checked in with the hostess only to be told she forgot about us. The group at our "assigned" booth is still sitting there and had been there for 2.5 hours according to the hostess. They're no longer eating or drinking, just sitting there. 6:30pm the hostess asks them to move to the bar as the booth had been reserved. We are finally seated, yet have to wait another 15 mins for anyone to take our drink order. We see other guests around us begin to receive the tuna bento box. 6:50pm we ask when we will be receiving ours and are told it was never ordered. Once again, we put in the order. Finally receive our food by 7:30pm. This horrible experience is why we will never dine here again. The lack of organization was baffling. Why have us make reservations, arrive 30 mins early and take down our order, if it meant nothing at all. I will say, the staff was all very nice and apologetic and tried their best to make up for the disaster and offered us a free appetizer without us asking for any sort of discount or free items. So thank you to them for that, but it did not make up for everything else. read more
