I was able to purchase the one thing my neighborhood Ralphs stopped carrying, but there was a trade-off - this Ralphs deli/cheese section didn't carry the variety of specific crackers I typically buy in my neighborhood. Interesting approach to business hours at Ralphs. Apparently, closing time means "whenever we feel like it." I arrived an entire HOUR before the posted closing time and the store was already closed. Not 5 minutes early. Not 10 minutes early. A FULL HOUR. I realize expecting a grocery store to remain open during the hours it advertises may be an unreasonable standard these days, so perhaps Ralphs could simplify things and change the sign to: "Open until whenever." This Ralphs has the worst produce in any Market of any kind I have ever seen. If they have a sale on a certain produce item, if you come back three or four days later it's the same batch because it's old produce. Today I went to buy it avocados and I felt one of my fingers squished all the way through to it it was completely rotten. Another time I went there and I went to go for the sale item and I was told by the produce employee that he did not have time to bring it out to the floor. That I would have to come back later. I think of the closest store it would benefit the community. Also when you go to the self-checkout line there used to be this really annoying employee that used to think she was funny and she harass you every time. I think she finally transferred or they fired her not sure. read more

Arrived at 11:47pm May 24, 2026. Locked doors, and I attempted to enter but an older lady refused to let me shop for a small batch of groceries. I was furious and told her you have posted hours "Everyday 5am-1am." She said on Sunday's they have to close early. And if I was allowed inside I would take a long time to shop. It made me so upset. Terrible service. Prices on the shelf are not what they charge your. In person, the lines are long and the Deli service is bad it's offensive. They will literally watch you stand there forever and off no service. Ordering through the App is even worse. Much of what they list is not available and they substitute items without approval and charge you for items that are delivered. Just got stopped in parking lot accused of shop lifting because the girl didn't see me. Total BS. Not only did pay once but I forgot one item so I stayed twice as long at the ss checkout. If they're that concerned about shoplifting they should dedicate someone competent to monitor the self service checkout. They're overpriced and have no better product than anyone else. I don't remember anyone from Kroger rushing out to me to refund after their self admitted overcharge after the pandemic. They know everything we buy. Terrible customer service. They had been out of an item on the shelf for at least a week. Everyone I talked to was unhelpful and except for Tony, the manager who assured me two days in a row that the product would be in the next day. Tony was off the next day and nobody wanted to help. Staff were great. Another Ralphs sold me chicken that was one month past its use by date. Tony took great care of me. Professional, caring, hospitable. My sister buys crab for her daughters birthday twice a year. Today we went and Jason helped us, she got 14 pounds of crab legs. Jason remembered her because thankfully he usually helps her for the past few years and he noticed she got extra this year. Jason is the absolute best butcher I have ever been helped by. I walked in at 12:45 AM on July 14th and over the intercom by the manager on duty (female) "whoever just entered please leave the store we are closed." While others are in the store shopping/checking out. She spends 5 minutes arguing with me and making a scene in front of other shoppers, when I just needed to grab some cough medicine and kept saying my manager said I can close early. when I asked for her managers name she refused to give it to me. She then calls security who is just a worker calling me drunk, when I'm 100 percent sober threatening me and saying I'm banned from The store for what? Coming in during advertised hours and trying to Make a purchase before the store is actually closed. i completely understand that any private business has the right to close or ask for someone to leave their store location, but the way this was handled was completely unprofessional and caused way more of a stir then it Needed to all because a manager wouldn't let a customer come in to grab one item. Instead she made a fool of herself and her employees in front multiple shoppers just to lose money for the business. and here is the kicker. I drove less than half a mile away to another ralphs walked in at 12:55 AM and was able to receive the cough medicine I desperately needed. But the store is terrible to navigate way too much crap in the aisles anyone could trip easily! Especially seniors. I have been shopping at Ralph's for a solid 3 years now with this specific store being one of them. I walked into this location tonight to purchase one of their items that they keep locked up in their cabinets in the front. I've purchased items from this cabinet many times before at the Huntington Beach location in Goldenwest, where it was just as simple as getting a team member to unlock the cabinet and bring me to either the register at the very front or whichever one is open to check out. At this location on 17th street in Costa Mesa, however, I patiently waited for 5 minutes or so at the cabinet with numerous employees walking past me, which is no problem! I completely understand I'm not the only person in the store, however, I eventually needed to ask one of the register workers to please help me, instead of doing that, he told me that I need to walk around and wait in one of the register lines, even though two of them were completely empty! So okay, I went to stand in the line and was the first one up and the register worker just looks at me and walks away, just leaving me there without saying anything? So okay, now I'm just standing in the line waiting some more, until I see another customer, some younger girl, do the same exact thing I originally did (stand by the cabinet and ask an employee to help) and the employee immediately opened up the cabinet for her. Just like me, this customer had no shopping cart or any kind of other product in her hand waiting for purchase. So I go straight up to this worker at the cabinet and very nicely ask her to open the adjacent cabinet door for me so I can purchase this item and she gives me the most ridiculous attitude, asking me "Well who is helping you? I'm assisting someone else right now." I explained to her very calmly what just occurred with the other employees and how I have been here waiting and I am just met with more attitude and questioning, leading to me just being done with the encounter and telling her never mind and walking out the door. Please keep in mind that this same worker, I'm assuming is a manager (because she had cabinet keys) literally checked me out 2 days prior after I spend $200 in groceries at the very same store. It is actually comical how complicated these employees made this be, and while it was only a small purchase this time they have lost me as a customer today and for every day in the future. This manager, a middle-aged lady with blonde/silver hair is definitely a huge reason why, as well as the cashier (middle aged man with white/tan skin and short hair). Thank you to this Ralph's location for making me feel like a jerk for wanting to buy something from a location I have spend thousands of dollars at. I have bought groceries here two decades and never had a need for customer assistance but I bought some salsa with a good to date two weeks out and a week later the container bloated up. I asked for the manager Adolfo Vegera who ran through a list of objections, asking what I did to it and saying several times they don't always accept returns. I finally told him accept it or not but not to ask like he was doing me a favor and he refunded the money and stormed off. This store used to be Ok but the female manager that closes at night has now started having her employees close and lock the doors at 12:30 AM when their sign says they close at 1:00 AM. I was rudely turned away at 12:30 AM by Nick who told me to go to a different store. If the store hours say open until 1:00 AM I could understand them locking the doors at 12:50, but not 12:30. Came here about 830/9 am on a Thursday morning looking for fruit platters. They had one watermelon platter & the sell by date was the following day. My one year old saw a tiny bubble machine he wanted. We have everything bubbles already so I thought, " For one dollar, why not?!" We get in line with our bubbles. Linda looks at them, I smile, she scans them and asks for our Ralph's card, my mom brain can't remember the family number we have it under so I say, we don't have one. I mention the bubbles are ringing up a different price, she says you need the Ralph's card and scans one. Still not $1.00. I tell her they're on sale for $1.00, there's multiple signs. She interrupts me to say the price they're ringing up as 4.39 so I saw, "Okay, but if you look right there you'll see you have a ton of them on a shelf over there with multiple price tags saying $1.00" she walks over, I hear hear telling somebody about the bubbles, presumably that they're incorrectly marked. She comes back and says that the signs says bubbles. So I say these are bubbles. You're not going to honor the sign that's in front of all of them? Nope, she says the signs is for tall bubbles. Honestly, five dollars is nothing. It was her reaction and the poor customer service. So I left. Went to target put my son lots of bubbles for more money.
