Food safety is very important to me, especially since I have been ill for 3+ months with a bacterial infection that will require medication for the next 4 months to end the infection in my hand and blood. About 12 days ago I spoke with Monica the front end supervisor about the fact that California Food Safety law requires people that handle food that is not pre-packaged such as Service Deli and meat cutting to cover all exposed hair on their bodies. I spoke with Monica about men in the meat department and men at the service deli wearing beards that are uncovered. She stated she would take care of the problem. Four days later nothing had changed soI spoke with an assistant manager Eric (not sure) and expressed my concern about the ongoing problem of violating California Food Safety Law. We spoke frankly that if the County of Orange Environmental Health made a surprise inspection they would likely require all meat cut and all service deli products that might have become contaminated to be discarded because of the violation of health and safety laws. Little concern was shown by Eric. Today I went back to Ralphs at 4033 Ball Rd, Cypress, CA to purchase lunch and both the meat department and the service had men with uncovered beards. I went to the front end and requested the manager and then the assistant manager and was told they were not present in the store. Then Monica entered the conversation and things became heated. She said she passed on to higher up positions my concerns about the health code violations. I told her since she was the senior manager at the store she has the responsibility to require all employees under management to abide by the law. I was met with the same mantra that she passed the information on to higher ups. I again repeated my statement of her requirements as a manager to ensure food safety. We argued and she told me to leave as "we do not want your business", I again stated she has requirements under state law to enforce food safety, she gave me a phone number that leads to "Customer support" with no ability to discuss the issue with the Kroger, just to speak with an "off shore" attendant in a different country. I again reminded her of her responsibilities and she threatened to have me removed by the police and she told me over and over "we do not want your business". I left. This was my market for 20 years which I loved until about 2021 . It has continuously gone down hill in service . There is never more than 1 checker and almost every time I go in there is 10 people in line for the 1 checker and 15 people in line for self check out. I've mentioned it nicely a few times to staff but they always have an excuse and says it's a weird rush. Well guess what it's been a "weird rush" the last 15 times I've gone in and this last time I said no more . My recommendation is to save yourself frustration and not go. read more

Worst customer service ever. Literally a courtesy clerk girl walked by me 6 times not once did she acknowledge me ( young Asian female all in black) . 2 checkers 2 courtesy clerks. None acknowledgement no hi, we will be right with you. Gio was bagging groceries from a distance sees me standing and asks if I needed help. He was the ONLY one who acknowledge me, or attempted to help me. He did go above and beyond to help me and was very apologetic. Store wasn't busy. Never had a problem with beer from anywhere but bought a 6 pack of Kona Light bottles yesterday and the beer was absolutely bad... disgusting... shop here all the time, employees know me, etc... tried to exchange the bad beer because you know, beer isn't cheap... was told go pound sand... not their problem and they can't exchange it or refund it...complete BS... will just drive further to Stater Bros from now on...this location is terrible. Only 2 cashiers open and when you ask why they don't open more lanes you get the same excuse they always give "Corporate won't let us hire more cashiers". Well, that isn't the only problem. Why not get some baggers who can hustle? By the time you pay for your groceries they should be bagged. This is one of the worst grocery stores around. 1. They do not disinfect the carts for the customer. I asked one of the employees if the carts have been disinfected. She told me that it was a customer's responsibility! I explained to her, that walmart, target, trader joe's, stater brothers all clean the carts for the customers. 2. Their prices are higher than any other store. I've lived near the store since 1991. It has never improved. I blame the management of the store. Their total neglect for public safety is absurd. I needed help to scan my groceries and asked a employee (women) who was standing there who was suppose to help customers. She made a face, acted like I was bothering her, but she explain to me what to do. I scan one item and had trouble scanning another item. Her tone of voice was rude as she pointed to the sign on how to scan telling me it was self-explanatory. She doesn't know my background or if it's hard for me to follow directions or even read, regardless she was very rude. I felt insulted in her demeanor towards me. I just left the items and walked out the store. Then, I remember why I stop buying my groceries at Ralphs. I stopped by this Cypress location Ralphs market for the first time to see if their Deli carried the $5 Meals, as I discovered not all Ralphs market do. I was glad to see they do. Their selection looked freshly prepared! I went with the chicken wings, mac and cheese, corn and Hawaiian roll. Izzy was very courteous and friendly in preparing my $5 "To Go" Meal Deal! He put alot of care into it and was very courteous. I really appreciated it. I got quite the opposite service at another location and it's things like that that determine where I Shop. Don't go here if the pre-packaged meat on the selves isn't what you want. wanted to get some pre-formed hamburger patties. Before we moved awhile back, we shopped at Stater Bros. and all I had to do was walk up to the counter and tell the guy I wanted total of 4 (or 6 or whatever) patties, 85%/15%, 1/3 lb. each. within a couple of minutes, he'd hand me aa package that was just exactly what I wanted. Since we moved, I've beam going to the local Ralph's and they just don't seem to get it. Today I looked to see what pre-packaged patties they had. The main option was a package with 4 patties approx.. 1/4 lb. each, which is smaller than I'd like. So I went to the counter and they had more choices, but mainly pre-seasoned, or with cheese and bacon bits mixed in. So I told the guy I wanted a total of six 1/3lb. patties, plain ground beef. It took awhile and 2 more people to communicate this, but eventually they told me they could make up what I was asking but that it would take about 10 minutes. So told the guy I was gonna grab other items and would be right back. When I came back, the guy came out of the back and handed me 4 packages. Each one had had 2 patties that were way too small to be 1/3 lb., and when I looked at the sticker on top, it said the overall package was a bit under 1/2 lb. Meaning, the patties were less than 1/4 lb. each. Plus, it showed the price as $7.99/lb. because they'd used the most expensive variety of ground beef instead of the $4.99/lb. I'd asked for. I pointed these things out to him, and he muttered "sorry we couldn't help you" and walked away. I don't understand why this was such a problem, but next time I'm going to find somewhere else to shop. read more

Overall, I'd say I like this ralphs. It's clean, most of the workers are nice, and I can usually find what I need. The reason I don't give it five stars is because of the cart situation. I swear, there's never enough carts to fill the corrals, and I always have to walk a good distance inside the corral just to grab a cart. Please, ralphs, just order more carts. Also random rant incoming, but I'd like to point out some of the other reviews I've seen about this ralphs. A lot of them are one star, and most of them are people complaining about the staff. I know there's a few staff that are kinda mean, but what do you expect?? They're working retail and have to deal with stupid people. I'd be like that too if I had to deal with privileged, mean customers every day. Cut them some slack. It also makes me appreciate the workers who are always nice, making sure to create a positive environment even through their darkest days. Worst grocery store ever. Severely under stocked on stuff like pasta, cereal, meat in the middle of the day. Seemingly untrained employees in two different aisles blocked a bunch of shoppers because they were going back and forth grabbing stuff from shelves like they didn't know what they were doing. And when I went to the deli counter the employee was EATING SLICES OF MEAT FROM THE SLICER and told me one of the products wasn't available when I saw as I was leaving that it was. As most of you know I am a first responder, I have been working directly with Covid from day 1. We healthcare workers are exhausted and find that most of the public just doesn't give a rats ass if people die or loose they're loved ones or Businesses. It's continuing to spread, masks are just a small portion of this on going pandemic! I am disgusted with Ralphs and this store . I am going to report them to the CDC, Orange County health dept and even go higher up to the president of Kroger. First of all : 1.Nobody cleaning carts 2. They announced over the PA multiple times masks were required, really....your store is filthy! 3. The self check out line had nobody cleaning after use each use. 4. No hand sanitizer or wipes for me to do myself I asked the young lady who was standing there to help with the cash registers where and why they aren't cleaning. She stated, "we don't have anyone, they got rid of them". I said well someone needs to clean or you should shut this area off and have us use regular check out....as she rolled her eyes I said get the manager, who was clearly not interested in my complaint. He may need to be re-educated in the current standards for Covid 19 regulations for the public safety. This is a industry who want hazard pay! Really, when your not even doing your part to sanitize! He stated...."ma'me , would you like me to clean your area, I said No! I want you to clean this whole area after every use or shut it down un til you have help. Your employee said you were short staffed. Why isn't she wiping down this area while she stands here. He was rude and irritated with my concerns. That is why I am venting about this. It's the irresponsibility of these businesses that have kept this Covid pandemic. So No we are Not are all in this all together. Clearly the public needs to take matters in their own hands. Why am I reviewing a Ralphs? Let it be known this location has short lines (yay!), most items in stock (yay!), a Starbucks that I never go to. I really do love this Ralphs because unlike the other locations, they actually greet you and help you. I thought I would at least write this so other people in the area could choose this location as an alternative. Yes there's the other Ball location in Buena Park and the one on South Street. Those two stores have really long aisles which I do not like. It takes fining an item really difficult. Like all locations, it also has a coinstar, carpet cleaning rental, Redbox This location also has day old/2 day old bread by the yogurt/bathroom area. Of course, it has this crazy smell that's a cross between something like an old lady's perfume and a homeless stench. If you don't already have the Ralphs' app, get it for the Freebie Friday and online coupon. I love using it, it's easy and I noticed regular Ralphs' customer like me gets additional FREE items. (yay!) Of course parking is plenty here and that helps too! read more

1.20.2017 This review miiiight be a bit biased because I've grown up with this Ralphs location being a 2-minute drive from my home. In fact, I was here even before this place was a Ralphs! Anyways... This location has undergone a lot of changes over the years--both cosmetic and internal--and they have all been for the better for the most part. As a result, it's easier to navigate and find things, and you can even pick up Starbucks if you so desire. The store is always clean, service is friendly and prompt, the selection for your grocery needs is varied and supple, and the lines (both checkout and self-checkout) go fast. To my health-conscious family's satisfaction, there are a lot of organic options to choose from with coffee, produce, dairy, breads, etc. It's pretty great. My ONLY gripe is the storefront design with those thick, vision-obscuring pillars. From a driver's standpoint, you have to drive at like 1 MPH so you don't accidentally hit someone as they come out. From the standpoint of someone coming out of the store, you have to make sure other drivers are watching for you! Pro Tip: If you shop here often enough and aren't a member, sign up! It's free and you get discounts and coupons! Pro Tip #2: Due to Prop. 67, bring your own reusable bags! Save yourself the $0.10. read more

Ok it's Ralphs what actually needs to be said about a grocery store well let me tell you. This particular location is great. The produce section is always full of really fresh items. And that's where you will find there take on stuffed mushrooms you can buy them in a five or six pack or a pack of two large ones try them seriously. I also love the size of the meat selection. The actual service deli is a little on the small side but what they do have is always fresh and top quality. And the spot where they sell the pre cooked food is always stoked with lots of yummy choices. I would recommend the mashed potatoes and the corn. Heck why not just grab one of there roasted chickens or a rack of ribs while your at it and call dinner done. So in short for me Ralphs is the way to go and in particular this location. read more

This is the WORST Ralph's within a 500 mile radius. Their card machines do not EVER work. Every single time I go here, it takes me 5 minutes just to swipe my card. My experience just now was the worse one yet. Associate told me I was hitting cancel after I entered my pin, did it again so she could see, she clearly saw I was hitting the green circle, and she STILL said I was hitting cancel LOL. I said "does the red X mean accept here now?" Not to mention every single time I have gone the last 10 trips, they are out of items that I didn't even think a grocery store could run out of, and I have multiple transactions on my card when I leave, until the failed attempts finally fall off. Love this Ralph's it is one of the better kept up stores. I love how clean qnd well lite it is, the selection of food items are great. I have shopped here for years and unfortunately it completely falling apart. They have taken out many of the checkout lines and placed self checkout lines. I think if I wanted to bag my own groceries and self checkout I would got to its sister company food for less. Recently I was in line and as the lady was checking me out I saw that my milk was not in the cart and there were some tortillas. Someone has swapped carts with me. I informed the lady and the bagger I needed to grab my milk, which was on the same isle. She said oh you need to pay or I'll suspend it and you can grab it and stand in line again. I said it will only take a second and she said no. So I paid so I didn't have to start that over and it literally took me 5 seconds to grab the milk jug. I had to stand in line again and start a new transaction. I asked who the manager was and it was the lady who originally checked me out. I believe her name was Monica. I had never seen her there before. I told her that it was really not ok that I had to stand in line again for my milk and it would've been nice just to allow me to go or the bagger to grab it and she said "yeah well sorry" . Pretty sad and unbelievable. They use to ask if you found everything ok and helped but now they don't even want to deal with you or be there themselves. Not even worth it anymore to go and pay the higher prices. Go to Costco or somewhere else where they are nice and helpful still. read more

I usually don't write reviews for supermarkets, but I was impressed by one of the manager's small actions. I believe his name was Daniel. I was waiting in on of the express lanes and he opened up the cash register next to mine. He asked if I was ready and waited for me to move my items before letting others know he was open. Usually the cashiers just open the register without asking other previously waiting guests if they would like to move over. I know that this is a small gesture, but it made me see that he cared about customer service. This Ralphs also has a decent amount of vegan food options. I wish that they came in bigger bulk like the other products do. I am sure that the vegan sections will expand soon as demand is growing higher for them. This Ralphs is more expensive than other supermarkets, but if you need something quick, this is a decent one to go to. read more

No christmas spirit here. I was in line and the cashier says after 3 minutes of me waiting. "We are closed". I said "really you tell me thus when I got in line and your light was on." So she turned it off and stared at me. The people in front of me looked weird but I was wearing a mask. I guess because covid is bad there are no one can use the old "closed " signs like the old days for the coarser belts. This is my home grocery store since its closer to my house. I normally do a lot of grocery shopping here and almost always find what I need. However, This place needs to change their hours listed on there website...said 5:00am...double checked before I went and then it said 6:00am. Then when you shop early in the morning they are always making a mess of the store restocking their shelves and vacuuming..cant even hear myself think...But thats just the morning hours... In the evening it gets pretty paced, and the wait is long. But the cashiers are always nice and they stike up conversations too... read more
