I ordered some flowers online from Costco for my friends birthday, they arrived with a third of the roses with the appearance of being wilted and dry. Costco immediately refunded the money. I went into Costco and the clerk helped me hand pick the best she had. The downside is that I had to then go into target to purchase a vase. While thinking about balloons, I noticed Ralph's and and stopped there, the flower arrangements and service were awesome. The clerk was busy grooming the flowers and answered all my questions. This review is long over due. Right before Christmas, I came in to buy some steak and Gary in the meat department helped me out tremendously. Gary helped me with my selection of steak and also in the process help me save money. He literally saved Christmas dinner with his pointers and tips on how to prepare the steak, which came out delicious. My shopping experience was awesome thanks to Gary! Watched Debbie run around as usual working her butt off as always while Valerie stood on the side bagging chickens with 4 people in line, one of who finally left. It is always like this Debbie is working hard and the rest of the employees hide behind the chicken counter. I waited 10 for 2 chicken breast and this is not the first time. The produce section is great and it looks like that's where all their time is spent, if I were reviewing that alone it would be five stars. But I found many items expired on the shelf and it looked like their entire meat section was being gone through for that exact reason too many expired products mixed throughout, so their first in first out methods need to be addressed. I wandered through the isles looking for mustard I asked to separate sales associates where I could find it, one gestured in a direction saying he thought it might be over there, the other said I think it's on one of the end isles but offered no more help. I inquired with a young pregnant sales associate named Claudia on how to get a Ralph's club card and she replied it's only online, I had already been online and it asked me to input the club number card you received from the store, I let her know that and she offered me no solution she just stopped talking to me and continue talking to the security guard about her pregnancy and her life issues, she watched me struggle with the kiosk offering no help but she did say have a nice day when I was leaving. Overall the lack of customer care and assistance would make me not want to go back as I don't frequent the store I'm not sure where everything is at and if I cannot get assistance from someone working there, of which there seem to be lots of workers around some talking in their own conversations and some appear to be intensely working so hard that they can't help me find more items to put in my cart and ultimately that should be the stores main goal to help me spend as much money as possible, however this store definitely needs more employee training on how to help customers do that. Be careful in the meat department. The big guy Mike who works back there is very rude. Me and my wife have been harassed by him on multiple occasions in and out of the store. I really hate giving one star just because of this one person. The rest of the employees here have always been extremely kind, helpful, and a joy to see every time I come into buy groceries. I like this location because it has self-checkout so I do not have to wait in line when purchasing a couple of things. I like their deli section too, before Fresh & Easy, I used stop by often and grab some chicken dinners on my way home. Debbie in the deli department acted in racist behavior and refused to serve me. Instead she skipped me to help her own race and ran to hide in the back once she was done serving him. I have everything on video. A manager Elizabeth was called but it seemed she was afraid of her because when I asked for the name of the employee that refused to serve me (which she didn't know her own employees name) she asked the bakery employee for her it. This review is for the pharmacy in this Ralphs store. The staff here are very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure the medicines you need are available for you. I pick up prescriptions there for two people, and they will check to see if any of their medicines need to be renewed by their doctors. They will call the doctor to get these drugs approved for dispensing. They also remember you, even though they have many people who fill their prescriptions there. I highly recommend this pharmacy if you're looking for a place to get your prescriptions filled. read more

(Almost a decade) and there is always outstanding and sucky service. But today I was humiliated by a store manager in Downey, CA. Her name is Leticia. I was exchanging milk that i bought yesterday because I did not notice that expiration date was in two days. When I walked in I told a lady and she said it was fine. I went to grab some bacon and the other milk. The gentlemen at the cashier was just ringing it out and the security guard approached him and said it was ok that he saw me come in with the other milk. Everything was fine until Leticia approaches me. She starts attacking me and saying people on WIC are not allowed to return items. I then asked her how did she know if I was or was not on WIC. Did i have it written on my forehead? Did i have a shirt on? No I did not. And the funny thing is I'm not even on WIC. For her just to assume that was ridiculous and judgmental! She then started saying I don't care if you complain on me I hope you never come back! Just how you complained on my friend on yelp! I told her I was going to complain on her just like her friend. I give negative and positive reviews on yelp depending the customer service. I asked to remove herself from my presence and she walked away and called me a "PUTA" which means a whore. In front of my 5 year old. I then was asked by 5 year old as we where walking out the store what a Puta is and why that lady was so mean. Yesterday was the second time the BOGO deal was for chicken breasts, legs, and thighs. I pulled 2 packs of breasts (located right underneath the BOGO sign) and when they rang me up at the register, the cashier told me it was regular price. I told her that the signs clearly state BOGO on the chicken items. She asked me if I wanted to grab a different ones, but at this point, i was upset, so I just did not buy chicken at all. I think I will just start going to the other Ralph's on Lakewood again. I never had any bait-and-switch issues over there. Ralph's is INFAMOUS for being pricey. AND they wonder why so many of their competitors have shut down. There are just cheaper alternatives out there - but, eh, they don't seem to care. Anyway, I rarely come to this Ralph's. I like it though. It seems cleaner and more organized than the Ralph's on Lakewood Blvd. by the 5 freeway here in lovely Downey. I can get my favorite Ritter Dark hazelnut chocolate bars here. Much, much, much more expensive than at Target though. Muuuuuuuuuuch more expensive:( I like the fact Ralph's sells cheap roses. I've been coming to this Ralph's since I've been 7 years old and in that time I've never had a bad experience at this Ralph's. The staff here is always very friendly. It's my favorite Ralph's to go to because it's convenient and close to my house. This Ralph's is also by the 5 freeway so if you ever need to grab last minute items or something quick and head on out than this is the spot to go to. If you're ever on the freeway and in traffic than this Ralph's is also very convenient. It is located in a shopping center. They always keep their store clean and stocked. I've never seen this location dirty. It does get busy as well so if you don't like standing in line then don't come on the weekends or after 6pm weekdays. This location also gets packed during the holidays and the lines get long as well. read more

The store in general is a great store. Very clean and the staff is mostly very helpful and friendly BUT there is one cashier that is always grouchy and not pleasant no matter what day you go there. The store should really put these folks through some customer service training. She makes my experience at this store a bad experience every single time. I've gone to this Ralph's forever and never had problem like I do now. Melanie who works in the floral department scolded me for carrying my little dog in my arms while I was just looking for flowers to bring to my mother on her birthday. I informed her that I was not grocery shopping but just picking out flowers, yet she didn't care and continued to give me attitude and said "I need to listen because I'm not in high school anymore". And when I went to purchase the flowers she snatched them from my hand! This lady doesn't even know me... I didn't want to leave my little dog locked up in the car when I could carry her. It's a standard Ralphs. It has a pharmacy, and it has a bunch of sections of convenience items that a grocery store would have. A diverse selection of things to pick up. Overall, it's not too far from Downey High School. For parking, there's no shade to park your car in. Open wide space for parking overall. Sauntering inside, you see a lot of the different categories within the grocery. The customer service is okay. The location is convenient for a lot of people given their circumstances. Decent prices given overall if you have the Rewards card. read more

I don't normally come to this Ralph's because the prices are higher than Stater Bros. but...I do love that they have deals on their 6 packs of beers. If you buy 4 you get an extra 30% off. So when there is a specific beer I am looking for and it is only available in 6 packs I usually come here. The store is always clean. They have a nice produce area as well. They have a Starbucks inside which is a double plus for me. They also have some harder to find items like certain chips, drinks and hot sauces that we like. The cashiers are always very friendly as well. I love that they have self check out for those days you are running in just for a few items. Oh and their fried chicken is amazing!! read more

Another update regarding this location. The only reason I still shop here is in general, they do carry all the necessities I need for my weekly visit. Since I´m one of those ¨early birds¨ who like to get things done early and stay clear of the crowds (especially lately in covid times), it would be nice if the aisles didn´t have every supplier in Downey stocking shelves at 8 a.m. My main concern however lately is the lack of cashier windows open. Last visit it was literally 1 cashier with no baggers apart from the self serve area. Give me a break! 20 minutes to check out isn´t ok especially when they say we should be in and out of stores with this disease rampant! One more issue, there is an employee at this location who literally acts as if he is on crack every time I go there. He talks to himself and is basically very loud. I see him stocking shelves and during my last visit he started coughing when I walked by. It sure seemed intentional, but maybe I´m being paranoid. Be careful out there people! read more
