I wanted to like Super A Foods in Bell Gardens more, but not if the meat is going to spoil like it did... The last items I always put in my cart are cold items. I shop frequently, so I never have too much to grab. Thus, the boneless pork chops ($3.20... sell by 1/5/16) & London broil steaks ($6.62... sell by 1/4/16) that I bought on 12/31/15 shortly after the noon hour should not have spoiled in the time that I grabbed them from the meat section to the short drive home. My plans were to have the steaks that following Sunday (1/3/16), but the meat had already darkened by Saturday. I cut into it & it was discolored all the way through and smelled sour. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Just a fluke. I wasn't upset at that point. So I got the pork chops ready. Same thing happened. Discoloration is one thing. When meat smells sour like both of them did, they are not suitable for consumption. When I bought the two packages, I felt as though I understood what the "sell by" date particularly because several foods I buy elsewhere use "sell by" dates too. Everything got ruined, but a whole freezer of my dad's deer meat was a heartbreaker. Even though it was long ago, I am pretty sure I know what spoiled meat smells like. BUT I DIGRESS... Bottom line is there was no reason for the meat to spoil in the short amount of time that it was in the meat section at the store to the roughly 15 minutes overall that it took for me to check out and get the items in my fridge at home. Super A Foods Inc prices weren't quite what I expected overall. As Brenda C. alluded, most items are reasonable, but others are eyebrow-raising. They had some nice looking tortilla chips on sale, but it'll be a long while before I try buy any meat here. I was not crazy about their produce section. The mini "flea market" made me chuckle, but was kind of cool at the same time. The panadería looked swell. The high note was the cashier service. All of the ladies we encountered checking out and on our way out were extremely friendly. Mostly clean store. Not very large parking lot. Smallish shopping carts. I had to update my review and I kind of feel bad for the previous one but it's OK this one is going to make it up I Chi to get the essential stuff my wife wasn't feeling well I came to get some cranberry juice some XL3 I also needed some vitamin C I couldn't find the vitamin C and I got assistance from one of the bag boys he was very kind even though he could not help me find it the lady at the register gave it another shot. I needed some eggs and OJ for a quick breakfast. I ran in there and was able to locate my items real quick. They are a little too far from my home. Their prices are very reasonable. As I ran towards the eggs section I did notice a display table for queso fresco. I wanted to stop and sample it so bad. I just ran out of time. Hmmm.. It's a grocery store, so they have some reasonably priced items and other prices are a bit over the top. It's the only store I frequent when I'm in Bell Gardens. At night, there aren't very many lines and you can get in and out pretty quickly, same thing with coming in mornings. Cashiers are pretty friendly. read more

I have to say the items here are cheap. And they usually have pretty good deals. One star (I'd give it less) But the place Is a dump!!! It's a mess, open packages here and there. Waiting to pay (one cashier open only) The MANAGER noticed a package of cookies laying over the magazine stand and when he pulled it towards him (looking the other way talking to a person) The package was open and the cookies fell almost on me. Did not apologize and just saw them fall and left them there. And went on to do other business. Also, in the line a man asked for a pack of cigarettes and there was only one kind that he did not wish to buy. The cashier asked the manager if there were any others to which he responded "No that's all we have. This isn't a liquor store.Go to the liquor store you'll find that kinda stuff there" in a very rude manner. Almost in a way to embarrass the poor guy in front of the whole SLOW line waiting to pay. I had to smile a bit when I walked out the super market and saw a big lighted sign outside the market reading " BAKERY ,DELI , LIQUOR " What a jerk. I grew up on Springfield & Gingham Products from this Mom & Pop Grocery Store Super A Foods in Bell Gardens,California...This is one of Los Angeles favorite Food Stores...I used to enjoy going with my Dad/Frank Ybarra to Super A and pick out my favorite Rock Stars Poster Books at the Magazine Section of Super A Foods once a month and other weeks picking out my favorite cereal and getting the new version of 2 Liter Soda Pop,it was in a bottle and had a bowl at the bottom of it made of plastic,and it was on isle 2" it was on the second and third shelf and the next weeks after it was on the 1st bottom shelf cause when the bottles fell from the top and second shelf they sounded like Grenades, lol....Well we'd get the Banquet Fried chicken Pre-Cooked and Frozen and it was good with Red Rooster from Church's Fried Chicken Hot Sauce...we'd purchase the Vegetables and Shasta Soda when it was good to drink...Ice Cream and they had a really good mix of Chow Mein ,we'd make fun of my Big Sister Starr cause she looked Chinese sometimes Lol...Super A Foods i highly Recommend for every American and Californian Family...Hallelujah...Amen read more

I've gone here a few times and bought pan Dulce (Mexican sweet bread) it was lovely and stayed fresh way long then the store bought stuff we would normally buy, I have become a regular here now and the quality of the pan is always consistent. Which is great. They also make a range of breads which are gorgeous too the name of the bread is bolillo and it too has a wonderful taste and stays fresh for much longer then the store bought. It's slightly more expensive but it's worth it! read more

really reasonable prices just like all the other markets some cheap some expensive.. have been coming here for years now.. it jas been my first time that i came late in the night right before thanksgiving 2016 OMG this cashier with long hair idk her name but omg she was really rude yelling at the customers like crazy with the total and there was a customer who i guess didnt hear her tell him that if he wanted to buy a bag but when the total came so he said what happen to the bags and she said so rude thats why i asked you if u wanted to buy one and he said im sorry i didnt hear you.. so he just left.. the when the customer walked out she was still talking about him with another employee saying that he was acting stupid that he didnt hear her.. she was saying so many rude things about him.. like i kno you may not like your job but you dont have the right to be rude to every customer that is in fromt of you.. because of people like her make customers not want to come at all.. hope they bring it to attention about hiring people read more
