The parking is difficult. There can be long waits for pay for groceries. They aren't very good at opening more registers to help customers. The worst thing is the customer service. I think that this may start with the management. For example, I asked "David", the on duty manager for assistance on a simple matter. He was standing there and did not appear to be too busy to help me. He told me that he and the store were too busy to assist me. He told me that I could wait for him to be less busy later that evening, or return the next day. I was stunned. He obviously wanted to discourage me asking for assistance. Never thought in a million years I'd be doing a review of a "grocery store" especially a corporate owned "KROGER" grocery story. Came in here today at 7:30 AM and you can't walk around to do any shopping because they're simultaneously waxing the floor, and restocking the whole entire store? He literally pushed through me. Long lines, rude and pushy customers and funky parking add up to the worst market in town. Only when it's extremely convenient (when driving directly by) will I shop here. Parking is limited at street level with overflow underground. It's a little creepy and cramped with two lifts to take you up. A little dodgy in the dark with no cameras for your protection. I'm not saying anything has happened in the elevators but it could. Hand baskets stack up at the cash wrap an not by the doors. I am usually popping in for a few items on the way home and don't need a cart. More often than not, I'm having to excuse myself through long check out lines to grab a basket. Please move the to the doors. The market itself is fine but not great. There's a very large prepared food area along with a salad bar. The fresh fish is not stocked to the brim but there's better places in this town for fish. Veggie isle is smaller than normal with limited selection. I'm not impressed with the options, the tight isles and the poor service. I'd rather shop Albertsons on the Mesa and I really don't like that location. Wow. Had a restroom emergency- no sympathy. There was a guy leaving the restroom so I went in to go pee and the security guard felt the need to assert his authority. As another Yelper calls this Fancy Ralph's I've adopted this name for this location. The overflow parking is decent, reminds me of the Paseo Nuevo lot under Macy's without the 75 minute kiosk. Busy and understaffed as usual, our checker Abraham was his friendly self in a sea of unhappy employees. It's always a jolt to walk past a security guard. The last grocery store I remember seeing this was Winn Dixie in Saint Pete, FL 30 years ago. After being thrown past this anti Santa Barbara relic the store feels as if it goes on for miles. The produce selection is large and fresh. They have a decent selection of alcohol although you need to use the regular checkout if it is in your cart. If a sign states this neither my boyfriend nor I noticed it. If the employee hadn't seen the beer among all our food items it would have been a mess. read more

Nobody knew where to find anything and the worst thing was they didn't make it obvious at all that they didn't take mobile pay (In my case Apple Pay). At first I thought it was just the self checkout but after going from there to the register and then finding out that they couldn't take mobile pay as well. My favorite part about this Ralph's is that you can stumble in here on rough mornings and pour your own coffee and prepare it the way you like it. It will only cost you less than 2 dollars! The prices are fair overall and there is always parking downstairs unlike trader joes on Milpas. The only thing I wish was better was the salad bar. I like that they typically have many products on sale or for a reduced price. They do need to get on their shopping carts! They're typically scattered amongst the parking lot. As for parking spaces they do have a top level enterance from Chapala then another entrance from De La Vina which leads to more parking underground. You then take an elevator to get to the main floor. I love the self check out. I'm able to get in and get out at my own pace. They also have a Redbox if you're ever in the mood for a movie night. Good selection of organic produce and organic options throughout the store as which is always a plus. read more

I live downtown so sometimes I run into Ralph's because it's convenient but the store is DISGUSTING! The walkway, parking lot, front of the store, inside the store, is so trashed! Litter everywhere. I go to this store out of convenience & they have a large selection of items. I like their seasonal section. But even the parking lot is discussing! This ralphs is the shit fo real. Parking is pretty easy and there's an epic fountain/ hang out area in the front. It's open super late so you can run in and buy your drunk-ass friends frozen pizzas and candy and mixer and whatnot whenever your heart desires. Their bacon selection is also pretty sizable. If you're fortunate to receive help from cashier/bagger Brett W, you are a lucky son of a bitch. Never have I encountered such a dashing gentleman working at a grocery establishment. His charming demeanor and infectious lopsided smile always make my cheap-whiskey-and-hot-cheeto late night grocery runs enjoyable. They should really promote that guy. Holy moley was this place horrible!!!! I just wanted a freaking salad from their salad bar and it was the worse experience ever. It was 6 FREAKING PM and the salad bar looked as empty as I would have expected it to be if they told me they had given away the salad for free that day. I asked Tim (overweight, young college student, disgruntled about having to work to pay his rent) behind deli if he might be able to restock the lettuce in the salad bar as I there were only wilted scraps left and he said to scrape together what was left of the romaine, spinach and garden variety to try to make a salad...honestly, if I took all that was left of the three trays, it was still not enough to make a salad. I asked if he might just go in the back and get more of ANY of the lettuces and he refused saying he was going to have to clean up the deli soon anyway and he didn't want to make it harder by bringing more food out there. It was going to slow him down and he wanted to leave on time. It was Thursday which I hear is College Night in Santa Barbara. Fine, "Do you have any soup in the back as there are no pots in the warmers at the salad bar," I asked. Tim responded that when that ran out, he didn't want to refill it either for the same reason noted above. He suggested I get a canned soup from aisle 3. I asked if he could heat it up if I did and he said no, it's against store policy.....so I'd have to take it to my hotel room and eat it cold I guess. He offered for me to order some fried chicken from their deli instead, probably only b/c he didn't have to put that away - someone else did, which I figured b/c he said I'd have to ask someone else "over there" to get it for me b/c he was only doing cold foods. So while in Santa Barbara, a place that just has that small town feel to it, it's nice to go to a grocery store that isn't something quaint and that you have a club card to (have you've gone to the meetings?) This Ralph's though has one of the strangest lay outs even before you get into the market. You have fairly limited parking on the store level, but when you drive around and under you find a massive amount of parking under it. This means you need to go up a floor to get to the ground floor. So that's a bit of a bothersome but you just have to ignore it. You sort of have to since this seems to be the only store that has normal hours. And by normal hours I mean something that is opened past 9pm in Santa Barbara. These folks sure like to take it easy. Friendly service all around while picking up supplies for the weekend. Things to eat and snack on. Stuff to drink. Yes, you can find a fairly good alcohol section in here. Over all, the one stop shop for stuff you need when you're in SB can be found here and at most hours of the day. Late night is probably the most comical to see the types of people who come through those doors and wander about the store. Though you shouldn't be quick to judge.. you're in there at some odd hour as well. read more

I'm used to shopping at Von's or Lazy Acres, but due to Covid, I've had to figure out a new way of grocery shopping. Throughout this entire quarantine, I've been cooking simple meals at home, using ingredients that would allow me to rush in and rush out of grocery stores within a 10 minute limit. Needless to say, dinners have been bland, boring and repetitive. Ralph's to the rescue! When I found out about their incredible app, a new culinary world opened up. You are able to shop right on the app, and if you purchase over $40 worth of groceries, they will shop for you and deliver to your car for FREE. You will pick a time slot on the app, drive to a designated parking space, notify them you've arrived, and magically, your groceries will be placed in your vehicle by friendly staff. In case they don't have product in stock, they will notify you and ask to approve of any substitutions on the website. Shopping this way eliminated so much of my anxiety and dinners have become fun, with variety again. They offer almost anything you need to make your favorite dish. They also have delivery! I've not had a problem getting high quality, fresh food. In fact, they may know how to pick out produce better than I do! I love their service so much that I may continue to shop this way after the world reopens. Ralph's has saved me time and money (use their digital coupons!) They have kept my family safe and nourished from investing in their technology, which has paid off during the pandemic, and for that, I will continue to support them. read more

Want a good laugh? Come to this Ralphs at night, preferably after 10 PM, and watch the security guy. Homeboy is rollin' THICK, and I'm not talking about a posse. I'm talking about a huge gut. Anyway, he's one of those security guys who acts like they have the same authority as a cop. Every once in awhile he'll stop someone coming in, looking them up and down as, I'm guessing, a warning not to steal anything once they get in. I've also heard him talking to himself, usually deriding a customer who was trying to get into one of the locked entrances. But you know what a security guard at a grocery store in SB means? Yes! It's open 24 hours, and you have to make sure the college kids don't steal beer after midnight! It's the only 24-hour grocery store in SB as far as I can tell, so that gets 4 stars right there. It also has a nice selection of every product I've ever wanted. My only two complaints are that it can be a bit expensive - a notch below Lazy Acres and Gelsons but definitely higher than Vons, Albertsons and Trader Joes. Also, the deli's chicken strips aren't very good. Vons in Goleta has great strips, so Ralphs needs to step their game up. read more
