As for product, of course it's fine. It's normal products all stores sell. But customer service. BOO. Horrible. They have these signs everywhere that say "Service with a smile. Nice!" It is very big and confusing. I guess if you constantly shop here, you get used to it. A little convoluted. Great selection in each department. Comparable prices, and one stop shopping. Now for the cons. It's next to a ginormous high school. DO NOT even attempt before or after school. I drive a few miles extra to go here instead of Vons. As long as you go later in the evening, there's not many people and they do an excellent job at keeping the lines short. The employees are pretty friendly. They have a great selection. Prices are usually pretty good with the rewards card although sometimes the produce is cheaper at Sprouts across the street. read more

this is my go to grocery store in the valley. im a ralphs fan and prefer this location to the one on devonshire and reseda. its clean, newer, fully stocked, brightly lit... the only downside to all of this is that its pretty busy all the time so lines can get long. but they have the self check out kiosks so you can check out pretty quickly if you only have a handful of items. the parking lot can get pretty crowded too.. especially during lunch hour or when school lets out on the weekdays (GHHS is right next door). read more

This is one of the best grocery stores I've ever been to. It's clean and well staffed and seems to be run smoothly. There is a sushi bar where everything is made fresh(and it's tasty). There is an olive bar, a soup bar, a salad bar(lots of bars as it turns out). The floral area is amazing. The flowers are fresh and the service is great. Lot's of variety and the people are polite and willing to help you. There are self check out lines if you want to can get in and out of there quickly. Everyone I've spoken to has been knowledgeable and helpful. The store itself seems to have most everything you can think of. The produce is always fresh and well maintained! The only really negative thing I have to say is that parking often is a problem. Unless you get there before 10 a.m., expect to have to park towards the back of the lot. It's worth it to me to ignore this because this store is so awesome. I can't even dock this store a star for it. It's that awesome. read more

The store itself is gross and always smells. The parking lot is not fun, people driving like they own the road. So ridiculous. I found live bugs in the $.99 Organic Kale at the produce section at the Ralphs up the street from my house at Chatsworth and Zelzah in usually 2 of the 4 bunches I buy. Since its only a buck each, I end up throwing out the 2 batches with bugs when I get home instead of returning to store. When I brought this up to manager a month ago, he stated it's unacceptable and will address with upper management. After continuing to find more bugs a month later I approached the manager again who changed his position and stated that bugs happen once in a while - and in the case of my Kale, it about half the time. He also said that I'm not the first one to complain which means he knew about this longer than a month ago. This manager and his staff are really nice and friendly, except that he doesnt seem to view this as a priority, and instead, treats it more like a suggestion box issue. So, if you don't mind eating live bugs with your Kale, then its actually a good deal at $.99 per bushel. I've been coming to this store for the past three years and my experience has been fine each time. Except when I visit the deli or the sandwich area, my experience has been terrible every time. It seems like the workers in that department flat out ignore me. Not only do I wait around 15 minutes for service (when I am the only person in the area), but I am greeted with a horrible attitude every time. Safe to say, I will never come back again unless they get new workers in that department. read more

I've been coming to this market for years and have to say they have the nicest staff I've ever encountered. I and a group of women come here every Saturday morning for our coffee meeting. They have always accommodated us with tables and chairs by the coffee kiosk, and now that they have installed the new Starbucks we have a lovely farm table big enough for the entire group. This aside they have a wonderful selection of products and I always find just what I need every time I shop. read more

When you shop in this store you get to listen to announcements that advertise that "Ralphs now delivers". My wife is in a wheelchair with a foot injury and I am working 7 days a week right now. So I go to the Ralphs website, sign up and fill up my cart. It lets you get all the way to the end of the process and gives you a "Pickup" window. No delivery option. Calling the store that advertises the delivery option they tell me they do not deliver and the ad is a "Message from Corporate" and they have to play, true or not. Valerie Jabbar, who runs Ralphs, needs to get her act together and stop the false advertising she is shoving on her customers. No one cared at the store. Ralphs lies. read more

Saturday Jan 13th at midnight I bought a bottle of BAYER aspirin 500 in Ralphs Supermarket in Granada Hills because I've hurt my back a week before and now I got a cold. Usually I take the 325 mg but there were none of those in the store, so I got the 500 mg. Home, I took 2 pills and went to bed. Suddenly I start having chest pain, I was hoping it will stop so I don't have to call 911. I passed out, next thing I open my eyes and noticed no chest pain anymore, and realized what just happen, I could have died! That day Sunday evening I went to Ralph's to return the aspirin bottle. I talked to the manager Chaney and told her what happened to me and she didn't show any compassion, first thing she said: is the manufacturer responsibility to reimburse you, but I will do it this time (as I was returning stuff every day). So, I could have been dead and she talks about $10 without showing any sympathy or concern. Is this the type of manager we should have to deal with in our markets? The cashier took the bottle, (a Spanish guy) shook it, opens the cap, looks inside, then went to the manager and again did the same thing. I got very upset, I said: what is the problem, I took 2 pills and the rest is there. I almost died last night and you think I made this up? The manager Chaney said: "I don't know, I wasn't there". What a heartless thing to say to a female senior citizen. I dumped the pills on her desk and said: count them, you are insulting me! Agreed with the other reviews...Ralph's and Von's rival each other for great deals (it's like Russian Roulette...keep checking in at both to find out what products are the better buy at any given point in time)...but Ralph's has definitely improved its cheese selection to compete with Von's. Tons of variety when it comes to baked goods (way more than Von's)...their deli also has wider variety than the one at the local Von's does, plus Ralph's has a diverse salad bar. My only complaint is that the fruits and vegetables in the produce section are often expired/outdated. read more

Last night was another bad experience with lousy service at Ralph's in Granada Hills, 2 regular check out stations were open as were the 3 self service with a line of 10 to 12 customers. The night manager was closing one of the express lanes and the other had already been closed. When I asked the mgr why the express lanes were closed she advised me that they close at 8 pm, no signs indicating this no apology no nothing. It appears Ralph's has succeeded in having it's customers wait in line for self service check out and bagging. Next time I'll try Von's... Bill G. read more

The store itself is alright, but it's the employees that make the visit not the best it could be. I go into this location at least once a week and I have yet to see a cashier smiling, I have yet to feel a warm welcome when I'm ready to check out and I have yet to have a cashier as much as greet me when I check out. For these reasons, I have decided to start going to a different location that I really enjoy and no longer return to this one. I thrive off of positivity and I don't enjoy the way the shopping experience at this location makes me feel. read more

I was a customer but not any more, because of the un educational assistent manager who works in the morning usually the manger will fix their workers mistake to make the customer leave happy but this time the low class assistant manger had no experience in customer service. I was at Ralphs portel ranch and they didn't have what i want i ask the guy to check this Ralph and i wish i didn't, because they did said yes that they can give it to me (they have order and they have extra's) so in 5 min i was their i ask the worker where can i find my order he said go to the manger and here the story begin. the assistant manger said their is a limit and they can't give it to me i said i just called the manger said no you didn't, at that time I didn't say an thing but i told him to call the guy and he did and after he start talking and talking with out ending the time was 7:45 in 15 min i have work so I told him sorry I have 15 min are you going to give it or not he said if you can't lesson to what i want to say I don't want your business. What just happened here!!? The Raplhs guy (50's, bald...imagine that ) at the checkstand just got into an argument with me about how many lines I've been in when I said "My fourth line...) 1. the self checkout that wouldn't recognize my phone number I haven't changed in 14 years, 2. I was in a line with a light on, but apparently it was closed, 3. I was in an open line, but Ralphs guy (50's, bald) said "I'm open" NUMBER FOUR!!!!!!!! God, why do I have to even get in an argument with a Ralphs checkout guy in the first place when I'm just trying to get a quick dinner, next time I'll just drive to Target if this is how they treat local Granada Hills customers. Then he asks me for my Raphs card (which I told him is the reason I didn't just use the self check out!!!) And he gives me guff about THEIR machine not recognizing my number, funny Rite Aid and CVS have no problems.... THEN HE TRIES TO INSULT ME BY LOOKING AT THE CUSTOMERS BEHIND ME, over dramatically, and says, "Well, I guess I can scan mine to get you your little discount. My little discount!? I wouldn't even buy stuff unless its on sale. LONG STORY SHORT...OR LONG, Minimum wage workers are spiteful, undeserving and pretty much worthless.. Should I really expect good service from a 50 year old man working a teenage kids job??? I would much rather go to Ralphs then go to the Vons on Balboa, better prices and shorter lines/self check out. I HATE the baggers they always mess it up put my nice soft bead in with meat( ew gross, meat should be put with other meat not my bread) putting my nice yellow easily bruised bananas in with cans. then they proceed to throw my bags into my cart! I have tried several times to bag my own items when some pushy bagger comes over and basically shoves me out of the way, ive said no its ok. ive said no thank you ill do it, the cashiers always seem to understand but the baggers just ignore me. when im not buying 300 dollars in groceries i use the self check out so that no one tries to help me. other then the baggers and one red headed grumpy cashier i love this store good selection and decent pricing, parking is normally easy unless your going around 4 when Granada gets out. They always send me coupons for all the things i normally buy and sometimes even 5 or 10 dollars off my purchase. they are normally well stocked and have what im looking for. read more

overall the store provides great service and i love shopping there. The starbucks inside the store is what i'm very disappointed in. The workers are slow, I haven't been there once without them messing up my drink. They only have up to 2 workers max. at a time even when the line reaches the sushi bar. starbucks in ralphs definitely needs improvement. read more

I come here almost everyday. I work a lot and the staff always always always been very pilot, helpful and respectful. I can't say that I have ever been to such a consistently well-ran establishment, especially a grocery store. I am always greeted with smiles and hellos from passing employees and/or management as I enter and receive the same treatment as I leave from the cashiers, baggers, and the security guard that is there at night. It is for that reason that I'll always choose Granada Hills' Ralphs. I live in Northridge but work brings me to the city often and I will pass the other Ralphs on my way home because this one is awesome. The staff and management should be proud as they are a light in peoples' daily lives. The food and produce has always been great, and prices are unbeatable. The store is always clean and always provides great hospitality. Super shocked that they don't have 4/5 stars. read more
