Jon saved my thanksgiving! Couldn't find our baster so I went looking for it at the Albertsons by my house but it was closed. So made the trek to Ralph's on Bolsa Chica. Jon, a Ralph's employee, helped me look but the kitchen section for roasting had nothing left. I was on my way out when Jon came looking for me with one (flavor injector) baster in his hand. My fiancé and I love this grocery store and come here on a frequent basis. This five star review is for the courtesy clerk named Ryan. Ryan is always very friendly as well as hard working. He always makes an effort to say hi to us and greet us while we're there shopping. He always has a smile on his face and has a good attitude. This is the local supermarket nearest to my Dad's house. I visit Huntington Beach regularly and go there to do shopping. I've been going there for years. If I was just rating the store, I'd give it 4 stars. It is really nice! Unfortunately there is a huge negative. This week was the first time I've gone to this store since Covid-19. I was pleased to see a sign upon entering the store requiring masks. The bad news is that that requirement was not enforced at all. I felt completely unsafe. One of the delivery folks stocking beer had a mask - around his neck - even though I was busy shopping in the aisle. Several patrons had their masks off or masks down on their faces. One guy was clearly trying to make a point with a smirk on his face in the checkout line with no mask at all. No employee confronted him or asked him to wear a mask. Let me be clear, this is unacceptable. Unacceptable. I'll add that socially distancing at the check out lines was not easy either. The safety of supermarket shopping in this era requires that we all take this seriously and adhere to the rules. If a patron is unwilling to wear a mask per the rules, then they should be asked to leave. I will not be back to this store in the Covid era, but I may not go back at all given how bad it is. It's disrespectful to customers who are simply trying to be safe and are adhering to the rules. I went to Vons today down on Edinger at Springdale. Fantastic. Everyone in masks. Very orderly. One large central line to keep people from bunching up at the check out lines with clear signage on social distancing. I'm a fan, and I think I'll be going there going forward. read more

Been coming here for years and will have an occasional bad experience. But recently I was in self checkout and one of the veteran cashiers who was working self checkout was so rude when I noticed something was open and spilling in my basket. I nicely let him know and handed it to him as I'm standing there with hands covered in sauce, he rudely demands I go grab another. I asked him for a paper towel since he clearly rather treat me like a kid than be helpful...He again demanded I go get another sauce. I had to leave all my stuff and run back to the aisle to grab another. I was so irritated and upset that he was a common face I've seen and so unfriendly and unwilling to help. I notice most of the people who work here have no problem expressing how much they hate their job in front of us customers. It's shocking and so sad. I hate coming here now and will try to avoid it. It's not my character to review grocery stores, BUT after my visit here, the yelp monkey (as opposed to the email monkey) was sitting on my shoulder nagging me to write a review, so here we go! :) I was informed last min about a coworker's bday lunch, and had to scramble quickly to get some red velvet cupcake from this place. 12 cupcakes cost me $7.99, a bit pricey by my standards but beggars can't be choosers. My guidance angels must be looking out for me b/c I happen to pass by the "clearance table" which was tucked away in the back corner of the store. On the table there was a ton of super discounted BOOZE! I felt like I hit the Jackpot! Got a bottle of $50 Promogranate Tequila for $12, a bottle of Kalua liquor for $9, and a bottle of $30 red wine for $6. SCORE!!! read more

This store used to be open 24 hours. They just got a face lift and it looks great. Its no longer open 24 hours. The butchers are amazing here. You can get custom cuts of prime rib here where they cut the bone and tie it for easy roasting. The store is well lit and well laid out. Everything you could want in a grocery store. Plenty of parking and friendly employees. Parking is safe and plentiful. It reaches all my expectations for a grocery store, good job! read more

Great deals are available if you have a club card. Ralphs also has their own store brand of most items that are available at reasonable prices. I ran in for some quick items to cook dinner for the family. The store is nicely organized. There are all the expected items in a grocery store and much more. I was really impressed with the produce section, which also had wide aisles so people were not bumping into each other while shopping. They had a wonderful selection of flowers and garden item, which really impressed me. Self check out helped me get out of the store quickly without the hassle of standing in line. This Ralphs has been my weekly stop for groceries since I moved to the area 15 years ago. The employees are friendly and helpful, and I could get most of what I need each week here. But not anymore. In 3 of my 4 visits last month I was ready to check out only to find no cashiers at all. Not one. All customers were forced to use the self-checkout stations, which don't work well for a cart full of groceries. Sadly this appears to be a policy change, not an accident. Somebody decided that cashiers aren't always needed during store hours. Now I do my shopping at other stores. Vons and Stater Brothers are close, and they have cashiers! Do not use this Ralph's for a pick up order! We needed to pick up our groceries and we're told 40 minutes before pick up that it would be delayed. How long? They wouldn't say. Then 30 minutes after the pick up time the girl said we're backed up and have no idea when you'll get your groceries. I asked how about a guesstimate and she said I can't give you one. So much for the one hour window to pick up our groceries. We were sitting in the parking lot frustrated. She and the manager said just cancel your order with no solutions or apologies for their delay. We only shop at Ralph's and will never return to this store. read more

This Ralph's is getting better and better. Love the new scan and go app. Download the app, hook up your Ralph's card + credit card and you never need to go through a cashier or even self-check out again. Super cool. Store is big, clean and the staff are friendly. The sushi and deli counters are super handy to grab fresh ready to eat meals. Produce is fresh and perfect looking (of course) with a good selection of organic. I take one star off because because their selection is Asian/Mexican/international food is non-existent. Also the butcher doesn't carry creative or less popular cuts of meat. Not surprising given the white bread neighborhood. You'll have to travel a little farther afield if you're looking for a variety of noodles, more interesting spices or more pork and lamb cuts. This floored me when I was shopping there once...I was buying a big hunk of fresh ginger and a woman in her mid-60s asked me what I cook with it. She'd never bought it before. I told her I make stir fries, Indian curry dishes, meat marinades with it. She was very sweet but had no idea what any of those were. Lol. read more

This is the closest store near me so I pop in quite often. The employees are generally very friendly and helpful. I've never had any complaints in the last ~4 years I've been coming here. Recently, during these dark, covid-infested days: I've been taking advantage of their grocery pick up. Out of a dozen or so pickups, they've only messed up once. No big deal, just a few forgotten items from my order -- all similar (dry, non-perishables) so I can see how it would be easily missed in my large order if it was in a box off to the side. They are also never not busy. I gave the store a call and the employees I spoke with were incredibly apologetic (appreciated, but not totally necessary) and asked me to come back at my earliest convenience to get the missing items. I've also seen a few incidents of good judgment on the part of their employees -- they've turned away those refusing to wear a mask or asked them to wear it correctly, and once, a guy being verbally abusive to another customer while waiting in line was asked to leave (TBH, I was planning to run that asshole's ankles over with my cart if I passed him in the store, anyway). I think this location deserves a good review to offset some of the negative Nancies (and Karens!) read more

It has been my homework it's for over 20 years. The decline in service and often selection makes me sad. Just left and was one of several people wandering around with no one to ask for help. Stood for over eight minutes at a deli and no one acknowledged me or said they would be right with me. Young man was busy slicing meat clearly saw me and did not greet me. With inventory down at many stores the only perk is having pleasant staff. One other observation is that the kids who bag at groceries are messier looking than ever and often sullen. Purchased a non food item back in March. Went back to return it within the week but they turned me down due to covid. At that time they were not sure how long. Finally, 6 months later I decided to go to Ralphs and to see if u can return the item. They said Its been more than 2 wks. I'm very upset. We got to the back of the line and some of the folks said - since you husband is walking with a cane, go to the front of the line and they should let you in first. I always buy birthday cakes and cupcakes from Ralph's. This time I needed a wedding cake. I loved my minimalist grey ombre cake the bakery made for me. I ordered it last minute it was awesome. I do wish the grey was more ombre but for $23 for a 3 layer wedding cake? It was perfect. Other smaller bakeries wanted around $50 and I couldn't justify that at all. I am very disappointed in Ralph's. I have been going to Ralph @ this location for about 9 yrs. I went to the store and ask them to take a tri-tip and grind it for me. I lived in San Clemente before that. They have always ground it up for me. I went in during the pandemic and they said they couldn't. I just thought it was because of covid. I went in 2 wks ago and they said they r not able to grind the tri tip up. They said it because of health purposes. I don't understand but I left. I will not be returning. U grind up hamburger meat and sell it all day long. I have made hamburgers from tri tip for about 25 yrs now and never had a problem. I started out trying top sirloin and London broil and tri tip does dry out or rubbery. I can't believe that u have changed ur policy. I am very disappointed and will not be returning. If you can't grind up meat that I want, cuz of salmonella than I shouldn't buy any meat from you. read more

Honestly love this store. Always well stocked and good prices but today they went the extra mile. I ordered a cake for my sons birthday and forgot the bakery closed early. In a panic I told them my mistake and they went out of their way to help me get the cake from the back of the bakery even though it was closed. They also helped me find a perfect cooler with wheels, and helped me try to figure out creative options for rope for the piñata since they don't sell rope. 5 star service is hard to find this day but this store has got it. As I was checking out 2 associates approach me and tell me someone said my dog peed in the store..... that's complete Bull! I made sure my dog used the bathroom before I went in. Filthy, smelly bathrooms! (Men's for sure) Large area surrounding toilet often puddled from urine or a leaky toilet. This is a long term, on going observation. Guess urine from the smell. Always give warning to next person waiting to enter, so as not to get disgusting looks from them should we further encounter while in the market. Ralph's personnel themselves always very friendly and accommodating. Ralph's has long been my favorite market. However, the bathroom filth condition leaves a continuing, disgusting stigma towards the market in general. read more

When using self check out, you'd feel neglected by the one clerk that's supposed to keep an eye out for for who needs assistance. Amazon delivery does a better job. Gone are the days that courtesy exists. This is why people opt out buying their groceries online. This review is for the deli-chicken area. It's almost 4:30p and I have been standing by the rotisserie for about 10 minutes. No one has acknowledged my presence, not even to say that they'll be with me in a few minutes. The people are very helpful normally but Ive been here since 1:30pm and its now 2:00pm. All I need is a money order and the one lady I guess that does it (Wendy) is out to lunch. So basically you should call Ralphs before you want to use Western Union to make sure someone isnt eating. What kind of company doesnt have a back up person to assist when one is out to lunch. Or post a sign that says closed from 1:30pm-2:00pm. After hearing wendy talk a bit more she mentioned that the chain of command is a problem and theres nothing she can do about it, it goes all the way to the higher ups, not even just a local issue. But waiting 30 minutes for a money order that takes 2 minutes to do is absolutely ridiculous. So my advice is to shop there for groceries yes, but if you have Western Union concerns then dont go there, especially not if its mid -afternoon rush time. read more

We literally go to this store every day, sometimes even twice a day. Today I went in at 11 o clock, to ask for change for a $100 bill, and I was told no, because "It was too early in the morning." Why the heck am I reviewing a grocery store? Well, it's the best. Service is top-notch. They saved me two years in a row on last minute orders for themed birthday cupcake cakes. I have shamefully went in at 9pm the day before and asked for a 6am cake. Go to this bakery...it's a life-saver for busy traveling unplannful parents! Also, I have been in this store at odd hours (6am, 7pm on a Sunday, etc) and the good service is consistent. Do you need to put together a charcuterie platter and pick up wine for an impromptu get together? This place delivers. Do you need a last minute gift? Pick up a mid-range wine, a wine bag, and this place will fit the bill. They recently remodeled and I love this place even more. read more

Then I went into this Ralph's to cash the voucher (about $10.00). I happened to remember I needed some potatoes (Singular no "e" at the end, plural "es", so says my spell checker, but I think potatos is perfectly fine spelling ... poor Mr. Qayle). So I grabbed a small sack of potatos and some sweet potatos also. At the check out I felt it was a bit expensive for couple of small bags of potatos but willing to to pay anyway. The voucher ($10.00 )plus additional few bucks???? I wasn't paying much attention any way. The cashier lady asked for Ralphs reward card and I happened to have a key chain fob and she scanned it. Then she gave me change of more than $6.00 instead of me paying additional money. I was a bit confused and wondered out loud, "Do I get so much change back?" When I got in the car, I looked at the receipt, and the bottom of the receipt said: *************VERIFIED TOTAL SAVINGS $10.31*************** i looked at the receipt carefully again then I noticed Yams RC $2.56 F Ralphs saved you $7.61. Potatos RC $0.99 F Ralphs save you $2.70. Suddenly i remembered posting a complaint for a similar reward card con game at Von's long time ago. AND remembered why I have been shopping at Stater Bro's, Jon's, Ranchito, or Vietnamese marketS nearby instead of these GREAT SAVINGS WITH REWARD CARDS places. read more

Alright... I know this place is over priced, blaa blaa blaa, but I still shop there. I like the produce section all the way to the meat department. You will find me mostly down the baking isle or their deli section... Oh! or getting eggs and pounds of butter :) The staff there are sweet and will go grab one more tub of white frosting at the last minute if I want 6 instead of 5. And from the looks of it, the locals know most of the staff too... this one customer there like knew every employee!... must have worked there before is my guess. I like going to a smaller market like Fresh and Easy or Trader Joe's, but sometimes you need to go to a bigger chain market to get the necessities.... in my world it's for baking.
