I have always been a Ralphs girl, with Vons as the red headed step child. I was out of ralphs territory for about a year due to where we lived and it was tragic. I've just recently bought a house in Oceanside and my new Ralphs is Old Grove. Holy smokes is this store big. They carry a lot of products of every variety. I would be shocked if you can't find what you are looking for here. The store is well laid out, well stocked and nice, wide isles. As a bonus, the staff is friendly and plenty of parking. Disappointed with my neighborhood Ralph's. I needed an item removed from the self checkout, so I pressed the help button, (by the way the store wasn't busy) after waiting for three minutes nobody came. So I pressed the button again and waited. No help. Then I press it again and no help. I did one more time and no help. Finally one of the employees came to me and ask me if I needed help and I told her my request and she told me she was going to get the manager. She went to the help desk and starting having a conversation with the other employees and then she just walked passed the manager and into the aisles. So I just got my stuff and checked out at another register. As I walked out, I talked to the manager and ask her if anybody told her I needed help. She said no. She had a horrible attitude about it too. Thank goodness the new Target is now open and will be taking my business there. read more

I have shopped at this store for many years and know everyone on staff by name. They are wonderful. However over the past 6 mos I have seen prices going way up! Even manager specials on day or more old bread! I mean, when I can buy a loaf of fresh bread at the same price, that makes no sense. This store used to be a good deal, that is no longer true. While I do still shop there, I do most of my shopping now at Food4less or WinCo, where prices are MUCH more reasonable. It's not even a contest. Managers need to realize this is not LA, and your store is not a Gelsons. Lots of military live here as well as people on the lower end of income. Get more realistic with markdowns, check expiration dates. When you do I will be back. But now that I've discovered WinCo, I doubt it-they are open 24 hours a day and they are now in Oceanside! read more

Is it a decent little grocery store, good produce but not tons of variety. It is a very typical California Supermarket, has Sushi, Fried Chicken, Deli, Redbox, toiletries and house Goods. The prices are also pretty cheap and it is a good neighborhood grocery store to hit when you need to do errands. Just had the Chicken Noodle Soup in the Deli. You must have changed vendors because it SUCKS!. No flavor except tastes like garlic. Not the rich chicken noodle flavor that I have enjoyed for years. Please go back to the previous vendor or whomever makes it. read more

I have been coming here for 4 years. Even though I occasionally go to other Markets for certain specialty items, this is my favorite. Store is immaculate and well run. Produce and Meat departments are very consistent. They have Kroger brand products and clearance items if your on a tighter budget. Overall, a solid everyday grocery store. read more

We live this Ralph's, the employees are super nice and very helpful. They have almost everything I like and it's all always on sale.

We love this store, its clean, stocked and the people are friendly. However, the carts are terrible, rusty, old and falling apart.

My Old Ralphs on College closed and I am now going to Ralph's on Old Grove. They were further for me to drive and I hesitated, shopped around even, however it is worth the drive. I save a lot more by driving a little further and the staff there is very helpful and friendly. Glad I made the move. read more

The go to grocery store for my single item late night needs. Love the fact that they're open until midnight (2300 on Sundays), as I usually have the closing shift where I work and most grocery stores are closed by then. I try to avoid Walmart for groceries, but as that's the only 24 hour choice in my area, the fact that Ralph's is open til 2400 is a huge plus. The Ralph's card is also great, a free way to not only get better deals on products inside but also build up points for discounts at Shell gas stations. Especially helpful for Oceanside, where the shell stations seem to be a bit pricier. With the Ralph's card, I frequently get 20 cents off per gallon. The selection of food itself is great, on par with Safeway and Vons. Their generic brand is also leaps and bounds beyond some of their competitors, and very competitively priced. All of the staff are amazingly nice, even those that have to wait for me at my 2355 pita chip munchie-run. Definitely the go-to grocery spot for this part of the O. read more

Still 1 star. Came in today and was in the meats department and saw a pack of little franks sausages that were BLUE from how expired they were. So gross. Also I purchased some of their new Mexico Tres Leches.... it was disgustingly spoiled. Such a bad bitter taste to it. The idiot at the cashier was scrambling at her stupid booklet and then told me I can't use my VALID CANADIAN DRIVER'S LICENSE to get a bottle of champagne. I have been using the same photo ID since I've come here with no problem at all anywhere I went. I've even purchased alcohol at the SAME LOCATION with the SAME PHOTO ID without a problem. Usually love this grocery, cause they have nice stuff, but we bought this wagon sale baby formula, maybe we shouldn't have, I gave to my son, he puked a lot :-( and got spicy wings, taste awful ...my husband said taste like frog. This review is specifically of the Deli area. I am sort of a deli meat snob and prefer the Boar's Head brand along with Vermont Cheddar cheese. As a result, I come to Ralph's specifically as Von's and Albertsons do not carry it. I'm partial to the Old Grove location as Elvira and Tonya are very helpful and friendly. I love coming here for their sushi. It's always fresh and made on the spot in many occasions. I recommend you get their Crunchy Shrimp Roll and their Dragon Roll which is called Rainbow Roll for some reason. Okay, everything having to do with food is subjective. That being said, I did a stupid thing today and shopped the Deli while hungry. Here's what I found that was so bad (as far as I'm concerned) I needed to tell someone. 1) I don't know what recipe they are using for meatloaf but pls asked for a sample bite before you buy. Just awful. 2). Dumplings (from the sushi dept) and this is my fault because they were fish and I was expecting pork. (I Should be more aware.)Too "fishy" to eat. I felt some other things were marginal but not worth mentioning. I really liked the chicken salad! So there u have it. Besides this - employees are very friendly and it is a beautiful store. I have three staff member that I appreciate the most here at this Ralph's. My favorite cashier is Annalisa, the florist manger Stephanie & Jonah is my absolute favorite Courtesy clerk! Amazing sushi. I get the eel roll frequently. The seaweed salad is also fantastic. The sushi chef is very friendly.

Let me start by saying I really like this Ralph's, good produce and selection of what I'm looking for, prices are high but the convenience trumps that for me. However, the people at the deli counter need charm school. Every single time I shop (mostly on the weekends as I work) they are knee deep with patrons and invariably there is only one lone person cutting the meats. Usually, though there's one of the deli workers a few feet away placing stickers on the cooked chicken or seasoning some chickens to be cooked. Someone needs to tell them that customers are their top priority. Today I approached one of the employees that was seasoning some chickens and inquired if she worked at the deli counter too and she snapped back at me rudely that she was busy......when the nice other employee who was working alone called her over she yelled at her too. Not too professional. I may have to find another deli counter that values their customers. Life is stressful enough....don't need to get stressed out over lunch meat. read more

I had to arrange food for a large number of people for my father's memorial service in September 2009. Since I live out of the area I called Ralph's, which was nearby to the service, and spoke with a wonderful woman who patiently went through suggestions from their menu. I called a day later to order and had complete faith that they would give me just what I ordered and it would be perfect that I didn't even check out my purchase, but took it straight to the church. BTW, they had a wonderful young man assist my husband and me with all the boxes. When we put the food out IT WAS AMAZING and BETTER than expected. The presentation was beautiful and abundant. They went the extra mile to make it great. It was gourmet all the way! I want to thank them for their helpfulness and great customer service and ALL the food was delicious...sandwich trays, fruit and cheese trays, and the cheese trays. Julia read more
