This store has become a "food 4 less." It used to be nice, even when there was a huge homeless problem. That has decreased. This has to do with management. It is unpleasant to walk through. It looks run down, there's displays throughout which makes it hard to navigate. The carts are limited and stuck together. The giant liquor cabinet right when you walk says "we are no longer a community store." This is a college & working & working class area. This ralphs used to be more appealing, more friendly. Now it feels restricted and dank. You attract the clientele you cater to. Frozen shrimp left to defrost in the Monster cooler? Bet you put that back to refreeze & sale. This guy that looked like barney cuz of his purple hair had terrible customer service. I had my little 3 year old next to me and he wouldn't stop using profanity. Later that day my son started saying the same bad words he was using. Shame on him. I spent $15+ on a top sirloin steak that was just over 1#. I seared the steak 3 min on one side and 4 min on the other (almost an inch thick). It was a beautiful med rare. 06/16/2025 11:30pm I was having "One of those days" where everything that could go wrong went wrong. Panicked and overwhelmed, I still went to the grocery store because a girl was dehydrated and needed to buy water and stuff. I couldn't find the 3.99 40pk of waters and this was the last day they were on sale... my fault I know. I was ready to break down and cry about it haha. Not kidding. I was very overwhelmed and this was my last straw of the worst day possible while fighting an ear infection. Anywho, Julian, bless his soul, helped me for the remainder of my stay at Ralph's. Honestly, I don't remember when was the last time I had service and a helping hand this great. I will definitely drive the extra miles just to shop at Ralph's now. To some, this may not be much. I shop at S.B Ralph's on University a lot and always get great customer service until yesterday 12/27/25. I was there to get the deal on vitamin waters for 99cents but when I went thru the checkout, I put my phone number in as always to get the deals/ coupons but when I did the very nice and patient cashier Anthony said it wouldn't give me the deal so he asked his manager NANCY to assist and she said with attitude that there was nothing she could do and said that I had already used the coupon for that deal. I told her I had not and hadn't been in the store for a month or so, so I know for a fact that I had not but she insisted that I did and was loud about it so others in line were watching and listening. She made me look like I was trying to abuse the coupon but I was not so I told her that it's not possible and she than switched registers (next to each other) with the cashier Anthony that was ringing me up. She told me to log into my Ralph's app, so I told her that I will step aside so she can help other customer because the line was pretty long, so I did and she never said thank you or told to customer sorry for the wait, that was so unprofessional as a manager. After a few customers I went back up to the line and showed her that I was logged into my Ralph's app so she than navigated thru it to the section of the coupon for vitamin waters and the coupon was still there and NOT used. She selected it and gave me the deal but NEVER said I'm sorry or anything nor did she tell the customer why I was being helped before them. NANCY should NOT be in her position with the lack of customer service and ability to show kindness without an attitude not just to me thru this horrible situation but to other customers. On my way home I called Ralph's corporate and had the representative look into my account to make sure everything was correct and any older accounts were linked, I was given a case # for the call and assistance and when I was done I called Ralph's to speak with the store manager Don, he was very understanding with everything I told him and apologized to me for how his manager acted. I even told him to look at the camera footage to see what I was telling him is true. I provided Don with the case # that was given to me and I did tell him that I was going to do a Yelp review so that others are aware of NANCY's unprofessionalism. He was very kind and told me that NANCY will be spoken to about the situation that should have never happened and apologized a few more times and even offered me a gift card for my unpleasant experience. I also wanted to make sure that he gave recognition to the employee Anthony for being so kind and helpful to me. Don said that's what he likes to hear about his employees and said he will let Anthony know. Thru this experience I will still shop at S.B Ralph's on University because I will NOT let one bad manager named NANCY ruin how welcoming everyone else is to me and my family every time we go to Ralph's and hopefully with me addressing Don about the situation and after speaking with NANCY she will take corrective criticism well and join the rest of the team that gives great customer service. read more

I went into Ralph's on Friday, September 27th around 4:30pm to get a birthday cake. I asked the lady that was working there (I was so irritated I didn't get a chance to read her name tag) if she was able to write Happy Birthday on the cake for me and she rolled her eyes and said no because "she ran out of icing" I don't see how that is possible working in a BAKERY. Worst customer service I have experienced there. I went in to shop and after a while I had to use the restroom and the first two employees I asked both told me they didn't know the restroom code and to go ask the front. This is the neighborhood Ralph's - the ambiance of the store and product quality have always been nice. The store has new products that are in trend frequently and the employees here are always nice and offer friendly service. It's a good grocery store and the pricing is moderate. The ready made chicken is so good - grilled or fried, always a crowd favorite for a causal family dinner or a potluck. The parking is free and ample. Ralph's shares the lot with so many other stores so it's in a very convenient location. read more

My understanding that this particular store has been downgraded to what is known as a "Value Ralph's." Over the last year or so the selection has really shrunk and many times the shelves aren't very well stocked with staple goods. I came to do a Instacart order that was placed through there online app. When I went to the register I had to wait for this lady to finally turn around, I then got a "what do you want" so I told her I'm doing a order and need formula. When I tell her the quantity she goes no I can't give it to you to resell. EXCUSE ME?!?! I was like it's an order from your website and so not my fault you let people attempt to order that amount. So I'm quickly trying to get to barcode since I have to wait till I get to the register to enter the quantity she then proceeds to scan all the formula KNOWING ITS AN ONLINE ORDER, but then decides to lecture me about showing the barcode first. So I've been going to the store for a while I live across the street so it's convenient for me ropes has good workers, but some people are really bad workers for example I went in one day looking for some food that I wanted to buy I wanted to know if they had something in stock and how much the price would be I seen that three boys were working as clerks one of them was outside doing carts, which I believe his name was Eli he was the one who actually ended up helping me. There were two other clerks I seen just walking around on there phone one named was Jose and the other Aj, I asked them for the thing I was looking for and they both completely ignored me ??? and when I went to go complain to the manager he didn't seem to care and that one boy Aj was just looking at me , I had seen Eli walk from in from doing his carts and I asked him for help and he did in fact help even if he was tired or exhausted from doing carts he helped me these are the kind of workers we need to have working not bums who just walk around on there phone doing nothing LIKE AJ AND JOSE !!!! not just the clerks either it's also a manager I believe he is new ? I think I seen his badge saying Erwin but I was in one night to grab a quick snack and he had a young lady on the register by herself while she line was long all the way to the milk while he was just bagging for her ? !!!! Their sales are trickery. Example: Their wipes are $2.49 normally except this week there is a huge $1.69 sign. Thinking that I have the phone number to get that sale, I grab 3. At checkout the price doesn't reflect the sale. In this economy, I pay attention. Clerk says, "you have to download the app". Well, I couldn't understand the receipt in the format they print. I'm a regular shopper at this Ralph's and today completely changed my view on the manager there. As I was in line the manager was the only check out opened besides self check out registers. He saw and said oh now there is a line and said he didnt want to open another check out lane so he told me to hurry up and put my groceries on the belt for him to scan. Overall this Ralphs has been a good store. I have always liked the employees, because I have been shopping there for over 30 years. Lately though the isles are crowded. The store shopper has a big cart and leaves it in the isle, There are displays that are covering items on shelves. My biggest beef is the lack of the electric carts for people with disabilities. There are only two. Most times one is broken and the other one is not charged. How hard can it be to plug these in at night or early morning. Anyway I am very unhappy, cause I now need the electric cart for my shopping. I am hoping Ralph's would be able to purchase a couple of carts and make them more accessible and have them working on a daily basis read more
