3.5 stars!!! I really wish yelp had half stars because Ralstons is definitely more of a 3.5 in my eyes! I come here often and i enjoy it. Simple as that. Ralstons is like that one friend whom you see every few months and enjoy their company, however you're not texting them every week or day to catch up. Ya know? Their patio and inside decor has No Frills. They're one of the only places on mass ave that isn't trying to get attention by adding fancy/chic/millennial decor. Ralston's is a mass ave staple, right next to the district theater, it also has one of my favorite patios in the city. After what felt like a never ending winter, yesterday was a perfect day to sit outside and get some much needed vitamin D! The patio has chairs that face mass ave, then a lot of tables for people to gather around. Some are smaller others longer, we lucked out and had a big table. Service is great! For as busy as it was I'm surprised that we didn't have to wait long for beers or food. If you enjoy beer this is definitely a place for you to visit, the selection of craft beers are crazy! Lots of options for the experienced or new beer drinker. The food is awesome as well, we all split some delicious nachos and then decided to get sandwiches as well. I frequent here. I've had several things on the menu & nothing ever disappoints! I typically go for the pepperoni pizza or crab dip...equally delicious! I tried the crab cake sliders and fries this time. Yet again, was not disappointed! Their homemade ketchup is to die for! My friend ordered pomegranate balsamic salad with chicken. She enjoyed it but said the chicken seasoning was a bit too spicy. I tried the dressing & it was so good! This place has one of my favorite patios for day drinking and people watching in the summer. It's a bummer to give such a low rating to a place I once frequented (a few years ago this was a great spot). Service is poor, at best. The 2 hosts on staff were rude and seemed extremely inconvenienced to simply greet our group and even more so when the bartender directed us to the host stand to rent darts. The food quality has declined dramatically. I am aware and emphatic to the challenges the pandemic has placed on the service industry, thus have visited multiple times in the last few months before making this review. I've been to Ralston's a few times, and am always impressed by the service and the quality of the food. It has a pretty unassuming exterior, and inside are plenty of tvs and games like shuffleboard and darts. The crowd is fairly young - 20s and 30s and it has a laid back vibe. On my last visit I ordered the pulled pork nachos appetizer as my meal and barely finished half -- it's an incredibly generous portion. Also got the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which I've seen at very few other places. With so many great restaurant and bar options on Mass Ave, it's easy to go a while without getting back to old favorites, but Ralston's is definitely worth remembering to visit more regularly. read more

We came for drinks so no food orders but I did see the table next to us grab a slice of the chocolate cake and my eyes made me order it. It was such a wonderful piece of cake. Creamy and gooey, I split the slice and wanted more. We've been here a handful of times and it's usually pretty crowded but we always get decent to stellar service. They have a huge variety of beers and the bar is packed with TVs and the dining room has a great shuffleboard and 3 dart boards. Im conflicted about this restaurant, so I'm laying out my pros and cons; I like the relaxed environment at this restaurant. Service was terrific - way to go Isaac! He was giving us drinks before we hit bottom! I had the Mass Ave salad - great portions of genuine mozzarella, great lemony dressing! The cuts of both tomato and cucumber were simply too large. We Also had the oven baked wings. The wings were spiced well, but we had several pieces that were simply black-burnt. The side sauces were okay. My girlfriend did not like any of them. I thought the bbq was okay. We also had the app of pretzel bites which were delicious! I enjoyed the beer cheese. The spicy mustard is way to aggressive - the horseradish in it was too overpowering for a mustard! Honestly it was stronger than wasabi. My girlfriend had the Gaelic burger. She said it was "pretty good", the Brie was "amazing", but she was not a big fan of the pretzel bun. The upshot is the meal was just okay and the service was good. The food was simply mediocre. My husband and I were walking along Mass Ave looking for a place to eat and the SMELLS dragged us to this place. The outdoor seating and overall atmosphere was relaxing and spacious. I didn't bring my appetite to eat many of the amazing options. I tried the "Sweet potato waffle fries" which came with a side of cinnamon cream cheese dip. I was hesitant to try the dip but glad I did my taste buds was all for the flavor it was packing. My husband went with the "Square mile wings!" He decided to go with all for of the wing sauces. The sauces were house made hot sauce, bourbon barbeque, peach chipotle, and honey mustard. The peach chipotle was finger licking good! The only thing I did not like was how the bathrooms were set up the layout for that was very strange. You can see directly inside the restroom from your table when the door opens. Ralston's is among one of my favorite places to get brunch. Admittedly I am a creature of habit so once I find something that I know I will be satisfied with every time I tend to stick to that. Now, if I'm with someone else sneaking a taste from their plate may help me change my mind. The loaded fries are delicious very flavorful. If you need a little extra kick, I do tend to ask for a side of sriracha to go with it. The French Egg Roll....the only thing I have had for brunch. My husband and I went yesterday post covid, completely open, and mask required. I'm pretty sure they have changed the menu since last year but the food is still phenomenal. We did the spicy hoosier tenderloin sliders and they were so good. We sat at the bar for the first time and im glad we did because we got to meet the owner and he is very passionate in this business! I normally don't go for sweet, but really well done they didn't put too much on. The slider deal was ridiculous. Hubs got the slider flight- 4 sliders and the variety! Wow! It was amazing. We ordered the fried pumpkin ravioli with honey, fig and date reduction, sweet potato fries with whipped cream cheese and cinnamon dip and fried green tomatoes with a flight of sauces. It seemed that all were fried in the same breading/frier leaving them all tasting the same. I can't figure out why, but the ravioli tasted like the french toast sticks I was served growing up in school. The sweet potato fries weirdly had almost no flavor at all. I wish I could put my finger on it. Regardless of the food, I'll be back for the beer and laid back atmosphere. We went here for dinner on Saturday night since were in the area. They were doing an amazing job with social distancing and cleaning the tables/chairs. We ordered a couple of appetizers! They've got a handful of brunch drinks at very reasonable prices including some classics like Bloody Mary's and Mimosas, as well as some fun specialty drinks including the beermosa (Belgian beer and OJ) ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Also, their breakfast tacos are amazing! It has been years since we've been here and my memory of the place was that I was not overly impressed. But it was a perfect night for dining out and we were looking forward to being on Mass Ave. So we decided to give this place another chance and I'm glad we did. Everything was great! We got a flight of the chicken wings which gives you the opportunity to try each of their four flavors. After eating my slider, I was only able to eat two of the four. So the other two types will have to wait until I enjoy my leftovers. But the ones I did try were the hot and the peach. The hot isn't overly hot but it had a good flavor and paired well with blue cheese dressing. The peach was good just by itself. I only wanted one slider and instead of the two that come with the normal sandwiches. So am I husband got the flight of sliders and let me pick one of them. I chose the Doc Crabbies It's a small crab cake topped with a little avocado. First of all, any sandwich starting on a pretzel bun is already on the right track. I don't really eat bread anymore but I did nibble on the top of the pretzel bun and it was great. And the crab cake with its toppings was a hit with me. I also ordered a side of their lemon champagne cucumber slaw. It was very refreshing and fresh. I would definitely get it again. So the lesson for today is if you've gone someplace and thought it was just okay, maybe give it another try. My husband and I used to have a three chances rule. Now some places if they are really not good don't deserve even a second chance. But that wasn't the case here, we liked it last time, I just didn't love it. This time I loved it. Walked in today to an empty establishment, and we quickly figured out why. The gentleman working at the hostess stand was very rude yelled at 1 of our gas, who simply forgot to put his mask on as we walked in the door. Our friend put his mask on, and when we ask where the table was, he simply pointed, no speaking, no thank you for coming, in no right this way, nothing. He brought our coffee, Put it on the table, without saying a word and walked off without asking if we wanted cream and sugar. We had ordered bloody marys for 4, we paid for them, got up and walked out, before they were even delivered let alone, enjoyed. The waiter was the same post that pointed to our table when we came in. As we walked out I looked at him and told him he was very rude, and told him he was behaving like an asshole. He looked at our party of 5 and simply started yelling: get out, get out, get out. We will never return, ever. We are air B and B hosts, and have several friends are as well, and not only will we not recommend rolston's but we will also tell every guest we have to specifically not go there. read more

Ralston's has a lot of fun app options like fried Brie sticks Masala bean dip and Reuben fries. My wife chose the onion mushroom and Brie burger. It was an awesome gooey half pound belly filler in a pretzel bun. I opted for the Hot Mess, which was an awesome chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon, sriracha mayo, etc. on a pretzel bun. I got their house beer battered fries which were a unique cross between curly and steak fries. Much thinner and crispier than you'd think. Very good. The beer selection is quite large. Let me start by saying literally no one that's working tonight wants to be here. I'm not sure why, but it's obvious. I almost felt like we were a bother walking in. And I get it, I've worked with the public for 15 years almost, which is why I'm stating now that particularly the attitudes of the workers aren't being considered for this review. Our waiter was not personable at all, never once made eye contact with us, and seemed annoyed to be helping us. We had never been here before. The decor was cool. Very laid back. I couldn't tell what music was playing over the loud table of girls next to us. My boyfriend and I both ordered a beer and they came quickly. I ordered the Quitting Cold Turkey sandwich and the slaw. The slaw IS BOMB. The sandwich itself was decent. Nothing to write home about, but it for sure wasn't terrible. When our waiter brought our food out, I had already finished my beer, so I ordered a Bloody Mary. I ate my entire dinner before my drink came, and I don't know if you've ever eaten a sandwich with nothing to drink, but it's not fun. So by the time we were finished with dinner I was left trying to chug my Bloody Mary so we could get away from the screaming table of banshees next to us. They have a really nice patio area that is a little bit covered so the sun isn't directly on you. The staff greeted us instantly and answered questions we had about the menu. Living so close, Ralston's has become a great local place for dinner or grabbing a drink with a friend. The servers are all very friendly and accommodating. Sitting on the patio during the summer is the best! The menu has many delicious choices. The El Guapo entree (3 yummy tacos) is my go to every time! Ralston's has an amazing beer/cider list, most of which was local. If you are a soccer fan, this is the place to be on Saturday mornings for the English Premier league. Ralston's opens at 9am and serves brunch for the soccer viewing. Their draft list is quite extensive with lots of options from all over the States and some international ones, too. I had the Ash & Elm Autumnale, a pumpkin cider perfect for a rainy October Monday. Their food menu features what you'd regularly expect from a pub, but some of them have a extra kick. For example, instead of regular fried mozzarella sticks, there are fried brie sticks with a blackberry champagne reduction. Unique choice, but I think I'd like the regular bar food. Good on the staff for enforcing wearing your mask during times like this. Once we were seated the masks weren't a problem. I ordered the Goat Cheese and Maple Bacon burger and dang, was it delicious. I mean the bacon was thick and soaked in maple. The whole burger transported me to the surgery hills of Vermont. The goat cheese had a nice cream cheese texture and balanced the burger. We ordered the Yogi fries for the table. Imagine a giant plate of potatoes topped with pico, sour cream, guac, and queso. We were given an approx wait time of 20 min. Fast forward 1 hour and 15 minutes later, we were still not seated, yet people (non-POCs) who arrived after us were seated after a wait time of 30 minutes. We were never seated, and I liked the venue a few months ago, but I refuse to support a business were patrons are not treated respectfully and fairly. I had a good experience at Ralston's! We had good, quick service with our beer and food. My favorite part of Ralston's is their immense list of beers on draft. I had to spend a good deal of time searching through their list to decide what I wanted! We also ordered food, which I liked. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad, which was pretty good/standard. The girlfriend got their loaded fries. She wasn't very fond of them because they weren't traditional fries (waffle, wedge, straight, curly, etc.). The fries were like if a curly fry and a wedge fry had a baby, but the texture was different than any fry I'd had (fluffier). They also seemed a little short on the toppings for the "loaded" part of her order. I didn't mind them, but the girlfriend was expecting something a little more traditional. I also liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. It seemed like a place that would be more fun if I brought a few other friends. The shuffleboard was a cool aspect that they had to offer (a reason that I think it'd be fun to go back with a few more friends).
