This place in midtown was a great place to go out for lunch. We went around 2pm on a Thursday and there was plenty of street parking! When you walk in, you order and pay for your food at the counter, then they bring it to your table when it's ready. It was pretty much empty when we got there, so we got to pick where we sat. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with zero spice and my friend got the veggie ramen with a lot of spice. I thoroughly enjoyed the ramen and loved how the pork was cooked! Awful. That's the only way to describe it. To begin, the "ramen" (if you can actually call it that) seems be served lukewarm by default. Based on other reviews, I don't understand how this can be such a recurring issue. Does this restaurant know anything about serving ramen? Who the hell prefers it lukewarm? What is going on in that kitchen that they can't simply turn the nob on the stove higher and serve it up hot? I'm baffled that such a simple concept evades an experienced kitchen staff. It should be illegal for ramen to be served like it is at Ramen 101. If it indeed were illegal, they would throw the book at this place - 25 to life. No possibility of parole. But even if they managed to get the temperature right, they'd still have a long way to go. And that's because the flavor lacked big time. I feel like I could've pulled off a better bowl of ramen at home with a cheap bag of Maruchan. I couldn't believe how terrible it was. In fact, another couple showed up after us, sat down and tried to eat, only to end up leaving before us. As we walked out I noticed the bowls in their abandoned unbussed table still full. They hardly touched their food and I don't blame them. It was simply inedible. To top it all off, the service was non existent, which left me bewildered since the place was practically empty. No one ever checked on us or bothered to refill our drinks. We had to flag someone down to let them know about our cold Ramen. They took it back to the kitchen and returned it only for it to be slightly above lukewarm. They didn't even get it right the second try. Yikes. Clearly nobody cares back there. All in all, we spent $50 for a lousy starter, two bowls of "ramen" that was flavorless, full of burnt garlic cloves, and had more bean sprouts than noodles. OH, and one very undeserved tip (that they make you pay BEFORE you sit down and eat). This place seems like it opened to cash in on the Ramen craze without understanding the basics of Ramen. So disappointing. I wish I had gone next door to Maydoon or Thai canteen instead. Honestly, these folks ought to go down to Ryujin on 19th and S and beg them for a consultation on how to make a proper bowl of Ramen. They should be required to study them for an entire year before daring to serve up another bowl. However, since they don't even understand something as basic as temperature, even that would probably not help save this place. So please, save your money. Go elsewhere. read more

Hands down one of the worst meals I have ever had. They obviously have no idea how to make Japanese food. I had unagi rice and vegetable tempura. My girlfriend had tonkatsu ramen. The unagi rice was 10 dollars and just smothered in a mediocre sauce. Just rice and a tiny piece of eel. The tempura which they have a TV on the wall which shows something entirely different was mainly just onion and extremely undercooked. The ramen was the most bland broth I have ever had of any ramen. DONT COME HERE, WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I ordered my food TOGO, and ordered 2 items, ramen and calamari. It took 45 minutes for them to bring me my food...I asked for a refund at 30 minutes and the manager could not figure out how to refund my money back onto my card and blamed my card for the reason why he couldn't return my money. But at the same time, the manager admitted this has happened on multiple occasions with other customers not getting a refund with their debit/credit card. I asked for cash for a refund instead since their POS system was not working. The manager refused and told me he will call me the next morning for my refund. (I ended up calling him in the afternoon as he didn't call me or show up to work until later in the day) The manager stated again that he couldn't refund the money back onto my debit card and for me to either get a gift card to the restaurant or pick up the cash in person.......I'm not trying to be a Karen but this manager was going to make me drive a whole hour to pick up my money. Which he refused to give me cash in return, the day of the incident. Side Note: the manager was nice enough to give me my food which I appreciated and told him I was willing to still pay for it but the manager insisted on giving me my return (which I never received)......I tried the calamari as soon as I got to my car, which was only 1 minute away from the restaurant. The calamari was cold!!!(The sauce for the calamari was nice) I believe the restaurant forgot my order as the manager couldn't find my order when trying to give me my return. In summary, I'm rating this 1 star for poor customer service and in general their service is extremely slow and most of all, their food does not taste good.
