This is by far my most favorite Japanese restaurant in town. The perfect balance of flavor and freshness. They also have mochi ice cream. We pulled off randomly on our way to California, and we had an excellent meal. The tempura batter on the tempura mushrooms was crispy and savory with no extra oil pooling on the mushrooms. I ate here once before about 10 years ago and back then the food was ok. Today I returned with a coworker for lunch..the food has not improved since my previous visit about 10 years ago. Let's start with the appetizer. The agedashi tofu was like eating a hardboard eraser..the batter was thick and there was no seasoning..constantly had to dip it in soy sauce for the umami. I never had agedashi tofu served with a minced ginger oil aioli before(this is not a poached or Hainan chicken rice dish)..the batter was heavy with no bonito flakes as it's traditionally served with as a garnish but instead with green onions. The ice tea was probrably the worse of the experience..it was a green tea..now if it was plain then that ice tea has fermented and turned..the ice tea had a sour note to it. Kinda disgusting and disappointing at the same time,I could not finish it. The entree was mediocre at best. I order a chirashi don. I have never had a chirashi don served with tamago as part of the sashimi. For $40? The sashimi should not be fishy at all. The sushi rice was seasoned with vinegar. But outside of that the rest of it was meh. Don't know but I have eaten at quite a few sushi places and for $73 for lunch is kinda high for what it is. Will I return? This will be my final visit. Fuji's up the road has better food than this. Fusion? The only Asian fusion to this was the mince ginger oil aioli that's Chinese. I tried really hard to come back to this place and I finally gave it a leap of faith. Turns out that faith has disappointed me. Maybe their other stuff is better but if I wanted a California roll with avocado and imitation crab why not just go to a bel air or sprouts? Even the sushi boat places near the Shinkansen stations in Tokyo puts this place to shame. A type of hole in the wall, but has been here for 18 years. Probably the best sushi we've ever had. Everyone is so friendly and so sweet, service is really good! Not going to lie I was skeptical at first because we typically go to other more well know places, but man was I wrong. The fish is so fresh, presentation is . First time we tried this place, it was okay. I would give it 4 stars. Today we went back and were a little disappointed. I got the sunomono salad and it was not good. I couldn't finish. It had a very prominent cold storage/ fridge taste. I tried and tried to eat it but the taste was definitely there. It was not fresh and not edible. We got a sake cocktail that was just meh. The sushi was okay. Can't complain. The service is really really slow. My husband and I don't mind waiting and relaxing for dinner. But we finished eating around 30 minutes in and then waited another 30 to get a check and they weren't in any rush. Maybe the etiquette is different but that shouldn't be the norm. we couldn't even make eye contact to get someone's attention. We eventually stood up and went to find someone. That's okay and all but the anxiety it causes to not know how to close out is just not professional. Won't be back. Don't want stale cucumbers and begging to close out. read more

Miso was a small Sushi restaurant in a interesting architect space. Although the entry was a little different from normal eats I find that inside was just a normal sit down. I got sat down and the workers helped me out quickly. The sushi and platters were all priced reasonably and nothing seemed out of place. Yelpers, I love this place! Been coming here for years. Whether ordering pick up, door dash or dining in, the food is soooo good! Just recently we came here for dinner and ordered drinks, hot Sake, dragon roll, gyozas, salad and a bento box with sesame chicken and vegetable tempura. This is a great restaurant with a nice variety of food on their menu. They have many options for sushi, fried rice, etc. The bento box is a great choice for your first time there. The box comes with a little bit of everything: rice, salad, miso soup, and two other items of choice. They have a nice selection of vegetarian rolls (which I greatly appreciate). When you buy the sushi rolls, it only comes with 8, not 10. Their zucchini skewers are really good, but I prefer them without the soy sauce. Their spring rolls are more like egg rolls. Their prices are fair, being level with other places with similar food. Inside the restaurant is a (sushi) bar area for the sushi rolls then there's the seating area to the right of that. read more

First time here while in town. Such a cool spot. Low key and well done for a small restaurant. Parking is the most challenging part, but worth it. Had the best lobster roll ever. The flavors in the sauce were very layered and robust. They added a small ice pack to keep sushi cool since it's currently very warm. What a thoughtful touch. I tried the 2 sushi rolls the miso and the Rainbow they wheee both delicious. That being said it is very much on the price side it was almost 40 dollars for 2 sushi rolls. Costumers service was good. Food is meh. Ordered the hamachi Kama entree and I think they forgot to add seasoning to the fish. Hamachi Kama is so easy to season too - it's just salt. We also ordered the age dashi tofu. The batter was way too thick. It should be a light dusting of corn starch. I first started coming here because originally I went to get something really quick in the area but this restaurant is pretty amazing! It's definitely a small local restaurant but it's very much so worth the effort to come down and eat. They have a variety of different options both hot and cold, my favorite I really enjoy is the super miso soup and sushi rolls (especially the shimp and salmon). The servers are also really nice the guy who makes the sushi too he's a really great cook. This was my 2nd time at Miso. The sashimi was really fresh and there were so many sushi rolls to choose from. Everything we ordered was really good. We got there late after 8pm. They did not rush us and Jerry the sushi chef spent a lot of time going over the menu and he would recommend items based on what we told him we liked. The place was nicely appointed and clean. Tempora cuts were too thick and better not so crunch. First time I had onion ring with three layers of onions. Not what I expect from a Japanese restaurant. Tempera mushrooms were OK but don't expect light and crispy tempora better you get from a good Japanese restaurant. Tonkatsu had no base seasoning and only rely on the sauce. Again just OK. Veggie 'Japansese' fried rice was just too heavy. A class act! I forgot how great Miso is. I just hadn't been there in a long time and because of July 4, our regular place was closed. The quality and freshness is still really high and the portions are HUGE! We were famished and got two bento boxes, a veggie tempura, and spider roll. They sent the miso soups to go which a lot of places won't do to go. See photos! The place I usually go to has kept prices same but decreased portions by a third! We're so glad we came back to Miso!
