    Whole grilled squid
    Janelle M.

I was craving ramen and wanted to check out a different ramen spot that wasn't my usual go to's. I decided to try Ramen 101 as I heard mixed experiences from friends both good and bad. I walk in a the cashier greeted me and asked if I was ordering to go or dining in? I was dining in and she handed me a menu to look over. I ordered the Tonkonsu ramen and a whole grilled squid. I paid and she said I can sit anywhere I'd like. It was different as I usually paying at other ramen places after eating lol. I get my squid it was okay. I've had better other places, but it wasn't the worst. My ramen on the other hand for the price they were definitely stingy with the noodles and actually while I was there a customer complained about the lack of noodles he paid and they remade his food no questions asked, I should have said something as well , but didn't. The ramen broth was good, the pork meat wasn't very flavorful the egg was cooked more than I liked as well. I just cannot get past how stingy they are. I probably won't be back. There are so many fantastic ramen restaurants in Sac that is place is completely forgettable. The inside is nothing special there is plenty of seating and a tv for your enjoyment.

The ramen is delicious! Perfect amount of noodles and toppings. The staff is super friendly and nice. She was patient with my fiance when it came to him ordering (his first time trying ramen). Waited less than 10 minutes for our order to arrive. The gyozas were also yummy.

Excellent experience. Mu first time at this location and possibly the chain. Very nice interior that makes one ready for the meal. Love that they had a delicious chicken ramen. Not everywhere does or it's chicken in a pork ready bowl. The edamame was hair and quick to arrive. Which there was a garlic option but very happy with what was provided. The patio seating is also very nice. A lot of shame as it is on the west side of this corner building so gets the late afternoon-evening sun. The lush vines keep the sun out. Nice patio lightning above make it a lively evening meal. Parking lot is okay for size. At the corner of two main streets, entering this Town & Country shopping area is not difficult.

Side of 2 scoops of tuna mac salad (May 2025)

Located near Trader Joe's, this Ramen 101 is a good takeout or dine-in option for ramen or Hawaiian plate lunches and appetizers. Ordering off the overhead signs is easy as you enter, and if you're dining in, they will bring your food out to your table. The indoor dining area had lacquered wooden tables with 3 TVs showing different shows, and there is a nice outdoor patio too. Our kaki fry (fried oysters) was excellent with a crunchy batter encasing tender oysters and accompanied by a slightly spicy mayo dipping sauce. The pork belly (labeled as char siu) bowl was pretty good, especially when adding a side of two scoops of the with Mac tuna salad. The chicken-BBQ beef plate included tender marinated chicken, along with sliced beef that came out a little dry but with good Hawaiian style flavor. The rice portions were on the smaller side and a bit gummy. The Mac tuna salad was excellent. Didn't get to try the ramen but would definitely be happy to come back to try it along with other menu options.

    Black garlic ramen (add mushrooms)

A fast casual restaurant with a nice combination of Ramen, Asian dishes, and Hawaiian food. I had the black garlic Ramen and added mushrooms - it had depth of flavor and was delicious. And the portion was quite hearty. I also had the fried squid legs which were crunchy and delicious. A few were a bit undercooked, but I can overlook that given the fact that it was toward the end of the shift on a Sunday night. Recommend this place.

The ambience always is very nice. I love coming here. You always get greeted as soon as you come in so the staff is very nice. Definitely love the service. It's a nice quiet location and this is hands-down. The best Ramen I have had I always get the Tonkutsu ramen with medium spice, spam Subi is delicious and the chicken karaage he's always nice and crunchy and they gave you plenty as well. I definitely recommend this place.

Visiting from out of town and this restaurant was near my job. Excellent selection of ramen and appetizers. I ordered chicken ramen with medium spicy broth. Excellent temperature of the broth and it was not spicy at all. Customer service was excellent. Restaurant clean. Located in Town and Country Village shopping village.

This had the perfect balance of sweetness. It was light and refreshing and balanced the rest of the flavors of the meal. I started with the seaweed salad. It was a solid seaweed salad. Good seasoning and texture. It was a good portion size as well. Melissa and Jonathan had the gyoza. They were stuffed full of meat, but I felt like the seasoning was a little less than and also they were unevenly cooked. I still tried one though because a gyoza is a gyoza. As my main, I had the karamiso ramen with a spicy miso based broth with seasoned ground chicken, veggies and chili threads for an extra kick. I enjoyed this bowl of ramen. It was the perfect level of spice. I am partial to ground meat in ramen, so I liked that this was an option. The veggies were cooked al dente which I appreciated, and the broth was filling and flavorful. The noodles were thin which is my favorite type. Attentive service here. OUr water cups were always filled no matter how hot the ramen was. Solid meal here.

I got the Karamiso ramen, the spice level was okay, but upon tasting the broth, you get a rich flavorful punch of pork flavor with sourness. I like the richness of the broth and sour flavors so I was drawn to it. My wife got the Aka Red Tonkotsu ramen, the broth was definitely lighter, and the spice level was abut the same as the one I got. The portions were generous, we were not able to finish our ramens unfortunately. But I must say, for the price, it's worth it. I would like to go back and try their tan tan men.

Most recently, my friend ordered ramen that was more sprouts than ramen noodles which was disappointing. It's nice that the ramen spot is connected to the thai restaurant because your table can order from either/both places. The ramen side is smaller, decent customer service, and parking can be a little tricky due to it being off 16th and across the park.

I got the black ramen garlic which came with the usual toppings: roasted pork chashu , corn, green onions, bean sprouts, soft boiled egg, bamboo shoots, and actual fried garlic. The whole garlic cloves were plentiful and so much flavor. The description says fried, but they are so buttery soft, they taste more like they've been roasted or baked in the oven. I will 100/100 always order this ramen. Very flavorful broth. My husband got the chicken ramen, which I tasted, and it too had a flavorful broth. You choose your spicy level. I got medium which was basically mild. The portion and price make this a great deal for a quick dinner in Midtown. I love the late hours and the speed of which our food came out. We ordered the geso (fried squid) and the veggie tempura. I do not recommend the tempura. The batter was thick like carnival onion rings. They need to use panko for breading. The geso was ok, and served with an aioli sauce. Stick with the ramen. No need to waste stomach space on their appetizers. The right half of the restaurant is for Ramen 101, and the other side is for Orchid Thai. You order at the counter and get a number, find a seat. The servers came around and checked on us and helped us with any requests. The nice ambiance from the Thai side carried over to the Ramen side, but both casual. If you didn't know about Ramen 101, now you know.
