First time ordering from Ramen 101. Saw a picture of the Unagi Rice Bowl from another yelper from a year ago, and it looked like her order had a good portion of the Unagi to rice ratio. I was sorely disappointed when I got home to find my unagi portion was grossly undersized. I was excited to see a new ramen option in our neighborhood! My first impression walking in: it is clean, but feels a bit like a McDonalds. The staff wasn't overly friendly, or unfriendly while we perused the menu up on the wall. So, this is not really a ramen restaurant, but a restaurant that serves ramen amongst a lot of other things. My hope of replacing a ride to midtown to pick up ramen was shattered, it does not compare to my favorites. With that said, the ramen was good. My friend was visiting from Bermuda, and she really wanted ramen, and this was on our way out on a road trip. The prices feel high for the atmosphere and quality. I like that they have ample outside seating (still prefer outside seating or take out due to COVID), but the chairs uncomfortable for eating. You feel like you are sitting on a perch. Bathrooms are clean, parking here is easy. I am giving them 4 stars because they are good if you have the right expectations. The ramen was good, they are close to me, parking is a breeze, and they will be my go to if I don't want to drive to midtown to get take out. read more

Well, I ordered from Ramen 101 and tried the black garlic, entrée,the lumpia(fried eggs roll, and the chicken teriyaki. I had it delivered by Uber and arrived in a timely matter and the food was still hot... Lumpia are just fried egg rolls with meat and not too much vegetables.They are pretty good. I also tried the order of the teriyaki chicken. (See photograph. ) With the teriyaki chicken order looks can be deceiving. Though it appears to have lots of chicken. if you look underneath the chicken, you are also getting broccoli and cabbage, which is less expensive than the chicken, so you are being fooled with how much actually meat that they serve. .. as a proud carnivore, this is quite upsetting. I tried the dish does they're known for the black garlic. ramen.. I was not very impressed with this meal. It just seemed very ordinary. Plus they charge you if you want extra things like the fish cakes, mushrooms,tofu or whatever... Though there was a lot and it was quite filling as far as taste goes not very impressive just sort of ordinary dish . Honestly I did not see too much or taste garlic as it should've been. That is why I'm only getting two stars. .. All the items that I had ordered we're just pretty much what you would expect at this type of restaurant. Nothing impressive whatsoever so if you have a different Chinese or Asian restaurant stick with what you know, this will not impress you whatsoever. Not including tip I paid $55 for this order. A great new business opportunity in a busy shopping center. Customer service was thoughtful because a gentleman patiently explained the entire menu after we told him it was our 1st time there. The pork belly bowl was UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS . For these two reasons, I gave 4 stars. However, the tonkatsu broth was flat (needs more of that tonkatsu taste & meat needs sear) and my spam masubi seaweed was not wrapped fully around. Chashu bowl (my favorite out of what we ordered): juicy and flavorful pork belly, cabbage slightly crispy and the broccoli was steamed perfectly (not cooked to death and mushy) . Takoyaki: you get a good amount, not the best takoyaki I've ever had but still tasty . But friends that live nearby wanted to try it and invited their Japanese friend (me) to join so I went lol. Had my usual shoyu ramen with a side of gyoza. Decent size bowl, nicely flavored broth, tasty but not too salty, nice toppings-bamboo shoots, mushrooms, pork slices, soft boiled egg, kamaboko and bean sprouts. The gyoza was good but were deep fried not pan fried then steamed like traditionally cooked. I'd probably go back if in the area. read more

The Takoyaki was good as well- It was the first time I had ever tried it, but the sauce had good flavor and there was a nice chunk of octopus inside each one (10 to an order). The chicken teriyaki came with a LOT of chicken! I was pleasantly surprised and happy that I have leftovers! It also came with some cabbage, a few pieces of broccoli, white rice and macaroni salad. So, I will NEVER eat at this establishment. Today, I had THEE WORSE EXPERIENCE I have ever experienced in my life as a customer. I went to meet my lawyer to sign papers, the lady asks if we were purchasing anything, my lawyer says yes... a soda. The older lady' says ok. Before we even got a CHANCE to grab a soda... some guy approaches us very rudely and tells us to purchase something ( a soda we stated we already were going to buy two minutes prior) or to GTFO. That turned into a pissing contest of screaming and arguing until we ultimately ended up leaving the establishment having the threat of the police called on us and more. I was really excited to try this place since there aren't a lot of ramen options around here. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the food arrived. There were two other people here besides our party of three but it didn't take long for everything to be cooked and assembled. :) I was also very happy with my ramen. The Tonkatsu broth was nice and flavorful and I felt there was a great variety of toppings in my bowl. The chashu in the bowl was nice and tender and felt substantial. The slices weren't too thin. My egg was falling apart a little bit but I still enjoyed it. Very solid ramen overall and I was happy to get a container for the leftovers. Dad got the Miso ramen. It has the same toppings as my Tonkatsu but the broth was something special. He ordered his spicy and it really had some zing to it. Mom got the chashu pork bowl and it looked great. Yay we don't have to go downtown, fight for parking, and wait on lists to get ramen anymore! I had a black garlic bowl to go and it was delicious. Good amount of noodles to broth ratio. Meat and egg were mmmuah perfection. The packaging impressed me, too. I had to make a u turn and it didn't leave a big mess in my car lol. They take Google pay and such. This place is not your typical dine in style. Their concept is that you order at the register & you decide on it to-go or for here. If you order dine in then they will serve it to your table. They have indoor & outdoor seating, very spacious. It is pretty much self serve in a sense. I ordered takoyaki & was able to try some of my friends mac salad. The Takoyaki was alright... the octopus inside was so tiny that the batter all around it overpowers. The mac salad was highly disgusting. It's was literally all mayo and noodle only. There is no taste whatsoever, no veggie that's usually lowkey mixed it, and almost dry. They did give a huge portion for it being a side dish order. So props to that. My friend also ordered a chicken katsu plate. It did not taste it but it was almost burnt & looked really dry. The batter around the chicken looked super hard & not crunchy in a good way. They also ordered a bowl of ramen. Visually it looked appealing but I didn't try it. If I were to come here again I think I would only get ramen. I hope it'll be good. read more

We went there for dinner tonight for the first time. I'm all about taste & texture & the love for Ramen. Haven't found a ramen restaurant that taste like the ones' in Hawaii. Well...I was blown away. We ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and it was spectacular. Broth is so flavorful, rich creamy with all the umami flavors. Eggs were cooked perfect, noodles texture was bouncy, not hard or over cooked. The mushrooms & bamboo were perfectly cooked as well. So tender & yet crunchy at the same time. Chasu was also tender. We are going back for more but different flavor broth next time. This was my first time trying a ramen spot in Sacramento. As soon as My partner and I walked in, we were happily greeted by who I believe was the owner. I ordered the medium spicy black garlic ramen and my partner wanted something "less heavy," so he ordered spam musubi. It was around 1PM so as customers were leaving, the staff were attentive and cleaned those tables as soon as possible while checking up on their customers. This Ramen spot is presentable and the staff are very friendly. The ramen was served as soon as we sat down and we waited a few more minutes for my partner's spam musubi. The ramen broth was not as thick to my liking but still flavorful of both black garlic and bamboo shoots, although the bamboo shoots were a little more overpowering than the black garlic. When I took a bite of my noodles, I had wished it was cooked longer because it was on the stiffer side and in between undercooked and just perfect. The bean sprouts and green onion both had a fresh crunch to them. I always appreciate a good fresh crunch because compared to other restaurants, they may have vegetables and herbs that are soggy from sitting for awhile in open/lukewarm air. The chashu was a bit dry even after dipping it and letting it soak in the broth but I could taste the slight salt in it, a little harder to swallow. The nitamago is always my favorite part, and this nitamago tastes as if it was marinated in sweet soy sauce. I could taste the sweetness of the egg white but slightly salty, and the egg yolk was a little dry on the outer lining but rich in the center. The dry black pepper on top of it meshed well with the flavoring. My partner stated for the spam musubi that he wished there was a bigger plate provided for the large spam musubi's, it was messy due to the ratio of spam to rice being held by the thin nori, so it was messy because it couldn't hold it together after a few bites. Overall, the teriyaki sauce was sweet and went well with the crispy spam and rice. read more
