This is very solid ramen place. I've been meaning to come to this place for a while but it always seem busy which is good but today I decided to wait. There's a little stand where you can add your name and phone number on the waitlist. That is awesome because you can get updates on how many parties are in front of you and notify you when your Table is ready. So I love all types of ramen and my favorite go to is pork tonkatsu but here they have miso, shoyu and shiyo (sea salt) broths. You can add toppings such as soft boiled egg, more noodles, more broth. I went with the spicy ramen and shoyu broth. The heat was perfect! Not super spicy but your lips will get a tingle. There's ground pork, green onions and a succulent tender piece of charsu (pork). Take broth sip. Slurp perfectly cooked wavy noodles. Bite ground pork and charsu. Repeat. It was great! Tasted delicious and comforting. The pork gyozas were good but nothing spectacular. You could taste the ginger. Slightly oily but tender. This place is small but they have their system down. I thought the service was pretty good. My water was filled and my check was brought quickly. While not the best form of carbs all-time (ahem, donuts!), Ryoma was not bad ramen. Ryoma wasn't amazing ramen either. Of course, getting "not bad" ramen works for me most days because I LOVE RAMEN ! Japanese-style, slightly-thick noodle carbs in a big bowl with Shio (salt) broth, slices of Chashu (braised pork belly), and Ajitsuke Tamago (soft-boiled egg) is such a satisfying lunch. My wife got the regular-size 4-star Shio ($9.85) with Soft-boiled Egg ($1) while I went for some extra heat with 4-star Killer Spicy Ramen ($11.85) with Soft-boiled Egg ($1). There are 3 sizes of liquid carbs (Sapporo) on draft at Ramen Ryoma. A small 12-oz glass is a specific $3.98 while a regular 16-oz pint is $5. For $10, Ryoma serves a 34-oz mug called "mega" which, obviously, I got ... and enjoyed one refreshing mega sip after another. Ramen Ryoma had me feeling full and tipsy. I was excited to try this ramen chain based off all the other reviews, but man it turned out to be a near total disappointment. My wife and I had a full conversation with our server about what on the menu was gluten-free for her to be able to eat, then specifically ordered the GF noodles for her ramen. We came here in part because we thought it was cool they even offered GF noodles. After a couple bites my wife mentioned that her noodles looked awful similar to my regular ones. The server never came back by to even ask how we we doing, otherwise we would have asked about her noodles. Near the end of the meal another guy comes by to give us the check and recaps what we'd ordered, but didn't mention GF noodles. Turns out they messed up and served my GF wife wheat noodles, so she's had to spend the last couple days with IBS and scratchy skin. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. My wife has a mild sensitivity/allergy, but if she or someone else had serious celiac it could have turned into something much worse. The manager and original server came over and were very apologetic, and said they'd void it out. I thought they meant take care of our whole check, which is what they should have done for f-ing up that badly, but all they did was take her $11 bowl off our bill (we didn't have a ton of other food or drink). In addition, while we sitting at the bar waiting for our food, I heard the manager yelling back to one of the cooks 'Reuse, no, no, reuse it!' Which sounded and looked like they'd already prepared (and perhaps served) someone's order, but then were trying to remake it or someone else's with whatever was in that ramen bowl. Left feeling like this cheapass place is more interesting in saving a buck than doing the right thing. My regular ramen was alright, but not nearly up there with the best around town (and I've been to Japan several times). Regular noodles were good, broth was way too salty, and the pork was quite chewy. Tucked away in the corner near the supermarket Ramen Ryoma was a welcomed surprise after a long day on the road. My friends and I drove from Redding, Ca into Portland and wanted to find some dinner. Not knowing where to go we fired up our trusty yelp app and decided that ramen fit the bill. Driving to the location we were honestly confused. We were looking for a restaurant but instead saw a supermarket but didn't really know where it was. We decided to park the car in their large parking lot and walked around to see. After wandering around we finally noticed a small doorway with the Ramen Ryoma sign on top. The restaurant was cozy with approximately 10 tables or so, and even though it was a weekday the restaurant was packed. We had a slight weight of 15 minutes and was promptly seated. Covid precautions were in place. All staff were wearing gloves and masks. And sanitizers were placed at the entrance near the check-in station, and patrons were required to wear masks. After throughly cleaning the tables we were finally looking at the menu posted on the side wall. They had a variety of Ramen each containing a different broth (Miso, Shio, Sohoyu) and the standard toppings (Chashu, bean sprouts, green onions and seaweed). Loving spice, I decided to get the Killer Spicy Ramen with a soft boiled egg added on. I loved the ramen! The bowl came out quick, the broth was hot and on point. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente that allowed it for a slight chew when biting in, and the spicy meat had just the right amount heat. I'll definitely order the Killer Spicy the next time I'm in the neighborhood. I ordered a size large so that's why I had leftovers. Size large is 1.5x noodles and the super size is 2x the noodles. The people I ate with ordered the regular size and they both finished theirs. If you don't mind leftover ramen, the large upgrade ($1.75) is totally worth it because then I got to take a whole portion home to eat later. Great service, great options. Moderate amount of seating including booths. Located right next to Uwajimaya with a good amount of parking. I LOVE this place. We've been several times now and it's pretty much our go-to ramen spot in the Beaverton area for the value and delicious ramen. There's usually a line, but it goes quick. I usually come, put myself on the waitlist, and walk next door to the Japanese market to browse until I get my notification table is ready. It's a fantastic process. In terms of the food here, I love their ramen. My favorite is the Tamago Mayu ramen with miso as the broth selection. So much flavor and depth. I also recommend upping to a large size (or even super large if you're extra hungry). It's only a couple dollars more, and you will be STUFFED (but also so satisfied for all that you get). The price doesn't get better than that. If you like spice and flavor, my other key recommendation is to get the spicy meat on the side. I usually get 1 order of that and we share it between 2 bowls (it goes a long way, so you definitely don't need the whole thing in one bowl). The only thing I don't love about this spot is the cost of some of the additions to the ramen. The price to add the extra seasoned eggs, chasu, and spicy meat is very reasonable. However, I don't think they should be charging $1.35 extra for green onions, or $1 for corn. That's a little overpriced for me for those items that should be pretty standard. Not a big deal cause I would still get it if I really want it, but I do think that's overcharged for what is a very good priced ramen spot. To me, cold stormy weather is the perfect excuse for ramen. As if that wasn't enough, visiting the amazing Asian market next door is also a good excuse to stop in to ramen Ryoma. I added my name to the digital wait list and somehow it never saved. But the host was kind when I checked back to still quickly get me a table. I wouldnt be excited about sitting at the tiny timeout table again but since I was hungry and he was helping me after a possible user error it was okay. I quickly was asked for my order and I got some garlic edamame to start. Lawdddd that was so good! The rich sticky garlic stuck to the shells really did kick a regular boring bean up a notch to flavortown! I got the deluxe shoyu ramen with gluten free noodles and an extra egg. The broth was rich, but not overwhelming. The flavors were salty but not off-putting. The eggs were good, although slightly over on cook time. It was a beautifully balanced ramen and I still felt happy with my choice even when I got home. Sometimes after eating ramen I just want to drink 8 gallons of water but not after this visit. The ramen here is authentic and flavorful. They have 3 different broth options - miso, shio, or shoyu. My personal favorites are the spicy miso and tamago mayu. My wife got the Tamago ramen , while I got the deluxe ryoma ramen Personally I'm not even sure the difference haha, they were both delicious, and honestly both tasted very similar. The ramen was cooked perfectly. The broth was delicious. The EGG! The egg was perfectly runny with a soy sauce flavor.
