Tonkotsu black Ramen has a nice texture to it where it's slightly firm yet breaks, the cha chiu , AKA the pork, has a great deep porky flavor to it, the parts with the fat are absolutely melt in your mouth, the parts that are less fatty are a little bit more tough, not hard to chew but definitely a little more tough. It has a deep flavor that Chinese roast pork has. Mushrooms are excellent and snappy egg is nicely cooked and still a little gooey yet is solid. The broth is rich and creamy, though texturally a little bit less so, I wish it was a little thicker, but I definitely enjoyed it! read more

The tonkotsu ramen was surprisingly big, 3 big slices of meat, half egg, seaweed, bean sprouts, and green onions. The soup was creamy and good. Noodles tasted very fresh. But, I didn't like that the egg was super cold, and the peppery taste (I think it is coming from the soup or maybe it is in the black garlic? Something is very peppery tasting in here and it overpowers the other flavors. Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. The restaurant is very clean and I like the Fusian decor. Nice selection of appetizers and it's not too noisy inside. You do need all of your party to be seated and that's fine. I'm always full about halfway through because we order appetizers AND ramen. Staff is super friendly and refills your water often. They make great suggestions when asked. This is by far my favorite ramen place in the city. I think they validate parking but only on certain days and we forgot to ask both times we've been. We also got the fried eel balls with fish flakes on top and wings not pictured. I came here with my family on a cold wintery day and this piping hot bowl of creamy ramen was exactly what I needed. The tonkotsu shoyu broth I got was so rich and umami with the perfect amount of soft meat. The side dishes were also quite good--everything from the dumplings in literally the best chili dipping sauce ever as well as calamari. The eel was good, although a bit dry and nowhere near as fluffy as I like from places in Japan. Overall a top notch ramen place in a very bopping part of town by the waterfront. Parking can be a bit tough on the weekend but there are parking garages available and street parking if you are willing to invest more time into searching. Supposedly there is reduced fee parking in the building's parking lot but the day I went they were requesting $65 for whole day event parking, and it wasn't clearly marked if the discount for restaurant customers would still apply. read more

My husband and I had a great experience at Ramen Utsuke! For drinks, we got ramune, which was a fun experience for us because it was my husband's first time trying it. The lychee flavor was really good that we ended up getting another one. For food, we started out with a Crunchy Shrimp Roll, Sea Salt Shishito Peppers, Spicy Garlic Edamame and Seaweed salad. We devoured the Crunchy Shrimp Roll so fast that we even forgot to take a picture of it. Of the other appetizers, the Spicy Garlic Edamame was our favorite. It had a good kick and we kept reaching for more. Since the flavor of the sauce was good, I might also try the Spicy Garlic Shishito Peppers next time. For the main entree, my husband got the Tonkotsu Shoyu and I got the Tonkotsu Black and Red. Since my husband is a picky eater, we asked for his mushroom on the side so I could eat it. Let me tell you, they gave us a lot of mushroom on the side, I could've gotten full from just eating the mushroom. Besides the mushroom, the ramens themselves were also good. The Tonkotsu Shoyu and Tonkotsu Red and Black was good for different reasons. If you don't want anything too heavy and want a clean taste, Tonkotsu Shoyu may be a better choice. But I loveeddd my Black and Red Tonkotsu. The garlic oil and the red oil added a lot of flavor to the broth, which I enjoyed. They also gave us an option to choose from charred Chasu or soft Chasu. We got one of each and, while both were soft and juicy, I would personally recommend the charred. It just added another layer of flavor without making the meat dry. We ended the meal with some mochi (get the Matcha!!) The surrounding area is also very nice, located right by the inner harbor. There is public parking in the same building. Ask for parking validation, so you only have to pay $5. The restaurant itself was also cute with good with a Naruto painting/poster and a few other anime figurines on display.
