This place is underrated. So very underrated. Nestled between the Thai restaurant (also a fave of mine) and another spot on Light street, it's super easy to walk past if you don't know they're there. But they are, and they represent sushi oh so powerfully well! From service to food presentation to the food itself. Lawd the food! 100 out of 100! They also carry beverages which you can choose from the glass door refrigerator at the back. Bottles available. Wink. The spot isn't posh by any means. You walk in, and the Server will smile and nod that you can seat yourself. What they don't have in terms of fancy they sure do make up for it with everything else. Super, super reasonably priced. Clean, pretty restaurant, fresh food and delightful staff. Staff, Eswuin the young Server is one of the best I've come across. He reads his customers well. He knows exactly when to approach and when to leave well alone. He knows when you're in need of a little extra love and when you just wanna chill with hardly any words. And get this! He's the ONLY SERVER! It has never been to capacity on any of my visits, but I've seen him handle more than four tables, delivery orders (and you know DEM DRIVERS can get impatient) and walk in 2Go customers like a true champ! His energy is so sweet. So too the Chef and BOH staff I've run into, but Eswuin is THAT GUY! Please, when you visit, tip him well. You'll absolutely experience how deserving he is. This little "mom and pop" style Japanese Restaurant is my favorite sushi spot so far! The ambience is very cozy and inviting. Good for date night or casual lunch. The staff are friendly and attentive. The raw sushi is pretty authentic and tasty. Portions are fair and price point is reasonable. The menu had a good variety and I feel like there's something for everyone. Raw sushi, cooked sushi (ala carte pieces, rolls); fried items, salads, soups, sashimi, pokebowls, noodles (stir fried, soup); japanese pancakes (okonomiyaki) and different beverages, etc. Quite a few times I've gotten the Deluxe Chirashi Sushi before, both dining-in the restaurant and through take-out orders with DoorDash. It was super awesome and has to be my favorite! It's a bowl of sushi rice with different vegetables (varies: kale, mixed greens, cucumber, radish/ daikon, avocado, micro greens) and colorful delicate slices of seafood (both raw and cooked: tuna/ ahi, seared tuna, white tuna/ escolar, salmon, yellowtail/ japanese amberjack/ hamachi, mackerel, shrimp/ ebi, egg/ tamago, crab stick, fish eggs/ tobiko). It's definitely like a treasure box from the sea. I get so happy when I see this dish! It's almost too pretty to eat! XD I've also tried a few different rolls like: Baked Salmon Philly Roll "Oven cooked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, spicy mayo, sweet sauce" (baked in a foil packet), Eel Cucumber Roll (Unagi), Maryland Real Crab Roll "real crab mix with Japanese mayo, old bay, avocado, cucumber crunch flakes, wrapped with soy paper, special sauce", 3 Roll Combo (Spicy or Regular: California Roll, Tuna Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll). The Spicy Cali Roll was amazing!!!I've also tried the Seafood Pancake (okonomiyaki) "made with wheat flour batter, shredded cabbage, onions, carrots, squash and okonomi sauce, Japanese mayo, on top and shrimp, clams, and mussels". What I really like is how well packed the take-out orders are! They Miso Soup is wrapped in saran wrap to make sure it doesn't spill. There's a piece of carsboard under the soups to make sure they lay flat. The Miso Soup is also very flavorful with lots of tofu and seaweed inside, not watered down with no flavor. The sushi rolls are packed in clear boxes efficiently and with good presentation! I recommend to definitely check this place out! Kiku is a hole in the wall Japanese sushi place in fed. Now the service can take a while because it's so small so be prepared to wait a while longer for your food (both dine in and take out). However they make up for it in flavor and quality! You get huge pieces of sashimi and the eel and cucumber roll is to die for. The tuna and mango surprised me and I actually enjoyed the combo. Some of the best and biggest sushi rolls I've ever had! The California roll was the freshest, most crab filled roll. Service was great especially for a such a large group order. Everything was perfect and extremely delicious. Some of the best prices I've ever seen and paid for sushi, too, especially considering the size of the rolls. The old man and his wife seem to finally retired but nothing about the quality of this place has changed when I finally came back years later. This small, unassuming shop in a posh neighborhood could easily be overlooked if you aren't in the know. But word of mouth for years and now modern review sites can clue you in to what might be the best sushi south of the Mason-Dixon. You don't come here for quick. You come here for fresh and delicious. Individual and roll service are my preferred method (the sad state of having a shellfish allergy) and each one is presented to you with the personal touch of the kitchen that's still carrying on as it always has. Stopped by Kiku Sushi after an Orioles game. Of course, we had to get the Orioles roll! It was HUGE and filled with crab flavor. We also got the Alaska Roll which was full of fresh flavor. In addition, we tried a poke bowl. It wasn't our favorite (even though the fish was fresh). I would stick with the sushi and miso soup. He was friendly but busy with take out orders, tables, and also making the sushi rolls. Stretched too thin. But never showed the stress. After 7 years in the neighborhood, I don't know why it took me so long to try Kiku! Actually, I do know why, it is a little pricy. I tend to get simple roles. As a result, it can be hard for me to stomach a place that charges more than $5/6 per roll. All that aside, we but the bullet and order just 3 rolls. Total bill came to almost $30 for 3 very basic rolls, so I was anxious, but I should not have been. The food was amazing and the portions were great!!! I came here for the first time on Valentine's Day, and WOW, this restaurant had absolutely amazing sushi and portions. This place is definitely my new go-to sushi spot in Baltimore and beats Shoyou Sushi any day. First of all, they offer a much wider variety of rolls than Shoyou and have way more raw fish options. At Shoyou, I studied the menu for so long to find something I liked...but ultimately there were very few options that had what I wanted - it was so much tempura, imitation crab, deep fried rolls, baked rolls...very Americanized options. At Kiku, I immediately identified two special rolls, the Kiku Dragon and Double Salmon Roll, that met my party's cravings. The fish in the sushi was incredibly fresh. They gave GENEROUS portions of raw fish and avocado, and their regular rolls serve EIGHT pieces, not six!! The presentation was beautiful. Not only that, the kind chef gave us 2 complimentary piece of eel nigiri since the wait was very long tonight. You order at the cashier and don't really get any wait service, but the family that owns the restaurant is very nice. Because they're a small business, it can take awhile to get served (40 mins until entrees served) but they told us it'd be an hour wait ahead of time so we knew. Prices went up on average 15% from the menu I'm posting due to inflation they said, so the prices were about as pricey as Shoyou but so worth it! Parking is free on Fed Hill main street after 8pm. 5-8pm is $2/hr, before 5pm is $1.50/hr I believe. Good amount of seating inside. read more

I love this sushi spot! Giving it 5 stars for the excellent quality of sushi and they don't use filler fake crab meat in everything like Shoyou sushi down the street. One roll is extremely filling - my favorite is the eel crunch roll for 14 dollars - literally has a whole avocado in it. So good! This place does have some notable cons that I would like to mention: - they never pick up the phone, I have tried calling them literally 30 times. I talked to them about it and they said they didn't get a call so ???? -this means that I have to go in person to place an order and then wait for my food (which isn't the end of the world since I live next door) -they are closed on Monday and Tuesday - these hours are not up to date on google -it's a family operation with one person making the sushi which means that they can be really slow at times. I once waited 45 minutes when sitting down with my family for the sushi. Nevertheless I'm giving it 5 stars because it's the best sushi I've had in Baltimore! It's a small restaurant with about 5-6 tables and about 5 seats along a narrow food bar. We grabbed a table and were excited that there was only one other table occupied. We quickly learned that didn't mean anything about time since there were only 2 employees working. This is not the place if you are looking for a fine dining sushi experience but for a good value locally owned sushi shop I definitely recommend! For 2 people who split a Sapporo and 3 specialty rolls and 2 smaller rolls the total came out to about $80 plus tax and tip.
