Delicious chicken Paitan. I went for happy hour and they were out of pork sausage bun along with the pork katsu don. Be wary of the chicken sandwich as somehow mine had plastic wrap??

Surprsing no one, I love Ramen Wasabi, which is why I keep coming back! Before heading to Wrigley to see a friend's band play, stopped into RW for dinner, and although the wait was an hour just due to the sheer volume of people who wanted something warm on a very cold and snowy night, the wait was worth it. I always go basic tonkotsu with warm sake, and it always hits. HOWEVER, this time I also did the espresso cheesecake, which is this tiny, little, bite-sized thing, which I loved. Ol' reliable

This place HIT THE SPOT on a cold day after the balloon museum! Not sure if we were starving but this ramen was everything we ever dreamed of because we were craving it. The entire restaurant serves you so it felt like people were attentive, although the ramen took a while to come out. (It was a pretty busy night for a Tuesday!) We got the spicy roasted garlic miso. I wouldn't say it was spicy, but I do quite enjoy spice! The left overs definitely had a kick to them. We would definitely get this exact dish again though; heavenly! For an app we got the mini char siu bowl and it was incredibly tasty, not like what I was expecting but pleasantly surprised. My partner got some hot tea and that was nice as she was able to get a refill as well. I opted for some hot water as well. We had a high top seat near the back of the restaurant but still by the front door and IT IS DRAFTY! So please be aware and mindful for the poor door person who has to freeze. Overall great experience, we would just sit somewhere else next time.

Came here on a Thursday evening around what I thought would be happy hour. They said they weren't doing that for the day (I thought was kind of weird), but beware :/ Interiors were lovely and it was pretty busy when I went! Still managed to get seating. Despite no HH, I was quite satisfied. The ramen was delicious! Got their classic Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen, which was very flavorful. Loved all of the fillings, and opted for the Chicken Char Siu - really nice. Appreciated that they had the option. My friend got the Hakata Classic, which also had great flavor. The broth felt more watery on this one, and I preferred the thicker noodles in the Miso Ramen. Would return! Hopefully for when they have happy hour next time : )

A great spot to grab a bowl of steaming ramen on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Chicago. Note they close sharply @3pm probably for a lunch break for the staff. The Alaskan cod sandwich was served on a bed of cabbage covered in a sweet teriyaki & brown mustard sauce with maybe a squeeze of kewpie sprinkled in between. The Berkshire pork eggrolls had microgreens & shaved radish on top of a crema type of sauce that balanced the heat of the kimchi nicely!! For the main attraction I ordered the spicy garlic ramen that was such a delightful mouth experience it really hit all the taste buds! The noodles were perfectly bouncy with the right amount of chew. The jellied egg was perfect and rounded the soup very well! The red chili threads enhanced the spicy miso broth just enough to slurp all the delicious goodness down! My husband ordered the Sapporo miso soup which had more of a creamy type of broth vs the spicy garlic. The noodles were also thinner than regular ramen & had a bouncy springy texture that just hit the spot! Since it was kinda chilly outside we also ordered hot green tea to accompany our spectacular ramen dishes. This place also offers delicious seasonal cocktails on the menu or hot sake if that's what you are hankering for. Definitely try this ramen joint if you are in the Logan square area your tummy will be so happy that you did!!

Ramen wasabi was yummy. We got the katsu buns which were delicious, although my bun fell apart pretty quickly. The garlic ramen had a delicious taste and was super comforting overall. The service was a tad slow but it was busy so it's to be expected. The ambiance was no frills, hip spot good for a small group of friends or an intimate get together.

Decent ramen but tonkatsu broth could have been more rich. Portion was good and price point was average for the area.

Before heading over to The Lodge Lounge for a comedy show, my siblings and I decided to kick off the night with dinner at Ramen Wasabi--and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Atmosphere & Location The restaurant is tucked into a prime spot that's both accessible and inviting. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by how sleek yet cozy the space felt. Warm lighting, clean modern décor, and an energetic but comfortable vibe set the stage for a great night out. It's one of those places that feels lively without being overwhelming--perfect for a pre-show dinner. Food Experience The menu had plenty of standout options, and each bowl was a masterclass in flavor. The ramen broth was rich, layered, and full-bodied--clearly made with care and depth. The noodles had the perfect chew, and every topping complemented the dish beautifully. Whether it was the perfectly cooked pork belly melting into the broth, the soft-boiled egg with its golden yolk, or the fresh vegetables adding balance, each bite reminded us why Ramen Wasabi has such a strong reputation. We also tried a couple of appetizers, and they didn't disappoint. The gyoza were crisp on the outside with juicy, flavorful fillings, while the small plates gave just enough variety to share without overshadowing the main event. Overall Impression What really made the night memorable was how well everything tied together--the prime location, the inviting atmosphere, and most importantly, the exceptional food. It set the tone for the rest of our evening, making the comedy show afterward feel like the cherry on top. If you're looking for a spot to grab a satisfying, flavorful meal before heading out for the night, Ramen Wasabi is a must-visit. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

    Reshma A.

Ramen Wasabi was pretty good. I haven't gone back since my first visit, but I'd definitely say it was better than Oiistar. The broth had more flavor and felt more balanced overall.

We have been on the hunt to try as many ramen places as possible in the city. Takoyaki was very disappointing. There wasn't enough cabbage or ginger mixed into the "dough" and it kind of felt like a pancake mix they crispified on the bubble waffle hot plate. I could have let go of the dough issue had the takoyaki actually had any tako-- octopus. There should be a noteable CHUNK of tako in there for it to be a takoyaki. Red Hakata- not really spicy but the spice they use is the type that sits in the back of your throat as opposed to the spicy on the tongue. If you slurp your noodles, be careful because the spice can get caught in your throat. The flavor had a Korean flare to it with a good amount of sesame oil flavor. The thin noodles had good texture. The oiliness prevented us from being able to finish the soup. Spicy miso ramen- Lots of garlic! I liked this one a bit better than the Hakata ramen. The noodles are thicker and chewier. Definitely different from most ramen places. The miso flavor got lost but it was a decent ramen. Ingredients inside all the ramen: soft egg had the right texture but no flavoring. This is a personal preference but I like seeing my soft egg marinated overnight to have an extra umami when it's cut open. The char siu are two big chunks of pork. Flavored well and probably one of the better ones in Chicago. I am a purist and like my char siu sliced instead of a big chunk since the chunks really emphasize the blob of fat attached to the pork. Service is great. Everyone was friendly and quick. It's a casual place and I saw many people getting a late lunch on a weekday. Overall, if you're in the area and are craving a bowl of ramen, try it. Otherwise, not worth the trip from other parts of the city.

Finally reviewing this place after many times of visiting. Never disappointed and by far the best Ramen in Chicago. I always start with a lychee martini and an order of chicken karaage. For ramen, my go to is the Sapporo Miso with an extra egg.

Spicy miso ramen was alright, nothing special. The poke bowl was really good. Wings were also pretty good. I really recommend trying cod slider. We went on a Saturday afternoon and wait time was around 20minutes. Food came at a decent time. It's a cute little ramen shop. Only gave 4 stars cuz ramen and wings were mid. But the other stuff was good

We had to make a late reservation since nothing was available earlier. We tried walking in earlier and there was a 1 hour and 45 min wait. So we kept our reservation for 9:30. Upon entering, the manager and the host were very friendly and promptly sat us about 15 min early. The ambiance is really nice, but the music... is way to loud. You have to yell across a standard 4-seat tabletop to communicate. Since everyone has to yell, the crowd noise then amplifies this issue. I've never understood restaurants that try to be a nightclub. You can have music at normal levels to keep the energy without causing your patrons to yell. Once we were seated, the waitress came over within 5 minutes. She was friendly, but slow. After she offered us water, she was didn't return to the table for 20 minutes to take drink orders. After we ordered drinks, it was another 15-20 to help with the menus. We asked about portion sizes (shareable vs not shareable). We were told each plate was good for 2-4 people. I'm not sure what portion sizes she classified suitable for sharing... but no way were a majority of our dishes enough to share. We ordered edamame, which we were able to share. We really liked how they salted it, sometimes you get edamame and it's bland. We also ordered spicy tuna sushi (6 pieces), Komodo sushi rolls, pork chops (comes with 2 pieces), 2 orders of wagyu sliders (only 2 per order), hotate batayaki (3 scallops), shishito peppers (8 grilled peppers), and yakatori don (chicken bowl with rice and a soft egg). I have tried many Japanese restaurants and have been to Japan as well. Loved the food. To start with the good, we really liked the pork chops. They were on the rarer cooked side but delicious. The sliders were really good as well. Tons of flavor and each one was a decent size. These 2 items we felt were slightly over priced but felt we got a great food experience for the money. The shishito peppers were barely grilled and bland. They literally were no better than what my teenagers can do on the grill. Absolutely not worth $12 for peppers. Each sushi roll was decent but very small very overpriced for what you get. There is nothing special about either roll. I have gotten better spicy tuna in the city, that comes with 8 rolls for half of momotaro's price. The scallops were very fishy. I love scallops, and I wouldn't order these again... no way! $22 for such. Small serving that was too fishy compared to other establishments. My chicken bowl yakatori don) had a great presentation. That's where the dish ends. The toppings overpowered the chicken. The chicken tasted like plain boiled chicken that was so bland, literally no flavor to it. After we were done, the waitress came over about 15 min later, asking if we were interested in dessert. We told her no, we were full and ready for the check. We sat around for over 20 minutes waiting. I'm watching our server talking in the corner with 4 other servers. Laughing, on their phones, etc. after watching them for over 10 minutes I walked up to the front host and asked for a manager. The girl, was prompt, and very friendly. I discussed my dissatisfaction with the service. It was slow, terrible for the price point of the restaurant. The manager brought the check to me fairly quickly and apologized. She didn't ask what they could do to make it right, nothing. Not until after the bill was paid she conveniently asked what they could do. Little late at that point. Overall, we have been to many low and high end restaurants in Chicago... River North, West Loop,, Manhattan, Munich, etc... and this was about as bad of service as you can get. With all the options in the city, I don't recommend this one.

The way it's written implies that you can choose an udon from the udon section, not the case. Minor gripe, but annoying nonetheless. The maki is fine, spicy tuna was bland but decent quality and the shrimp tempura maki was good but also lacking. Personally I prefer a spicy tuna with more tuna texture and this is basically puree, personal preference I guess. The udon is where my meal fell apart. For a lunch menu focusing on udon I expected a more flavorful broth and noodles that weren't overcooked. It's not like the underlying flavor is bad or anything, it's just barely there at all. The dashi is very weak and one dimensional, and the noodles taste like plain flour with a spongy overly soft bite. The toppings are extremely basic, I can't even comment on them because I'm not sure if I hallucinated them having any flavor or not. They might as well not exist. The shredded cabbage side salad is also mediocre. Dressing was weak and the cabbage could've been cut thinner. genuinely one of the worst service experiences i've had in chicago…read more my friends and i were seeing each other for the first time in almost a year, so we came in excited and talkative. somehow, this was interpreted as us being excessively intoxicated. we weren't. the alcohol itself was NEVER the issue. restaurants should refuse service when someone is visibly intoxicated. the issue was an assumption about our table becoming a game of telephone among the staff. there appeared to be a staff or shift change, and whatever concern existed about our supposed "intoxication" was passed along rather than independently assessed. we were told we needed to get "food in us" before ordering drinks. we ate, asked again, and ultimately had to ask at least THREE times before being served. even then, our server made a pointed comment about how we finally had "food in us." i've eaten at sushi-san before and ordered drinks before food without ANY issue, so the contrast was jarring. then, when my friend finally received her drink, she was specifically told, "it wasn't you." if it wasn't her, who exactly at our table had been designated the problem, and based on what? apparently there was plenty of communication ABOUT us, just none WITH us. meanwhile, patrons who appeared FAR more intoxicated continued to be served normally. i also experienced an explicitly racist interaction with another patron in the bathroom who appeared considerably more intoxicated than anyone at our table. obviously sushi-san cannot control another customer's behavior, but the contrast was hard to ignore. they eventually brought us a sake bomb to make amends, but it was delivered with such visible reluctance that the gesture felt almost insulting. by that point, we ordered considerably less than planned because we wanted to leave. if someone is genuinely too intoxicated to serve, address them directly and respectfully. don't pass assumptions between employees, make a table repeatedly ask for drinks after meeting your "food in us" requirement, and tell one person "it wasn't you" while leaving everyone else to wonder who had been singled out. we came in excited to see each other after almost a year apart and left early because of the service. for a restaurant at this price point, the way this was handled was embarrassingly unprofessional.
