Ask the Community - Ramirez Barber Salon

Hi how much for a haircut?

Just a haircut it would be $25. If you add other services it would be more. Sorry for the late response.

For a first timer which barber should I cut my hair with?

All of our barbers are excellent but Ruperto and Jonathan are the most popular. I hope that helps. See you soon!

Mr. Brothers Cut Club is what I've been searching for in LA. I came in hunting for a well-executed…read morepompadour/slicked-back undercut with clean fades and tapers. More importantly, I needed someone who could handle Asian-textured hair, which many barbers struggle with. Enter Kei. He's meticulous, quick to understand what you want, and genuinely invested in both your immediate goals and long-term vision for your hair. He was also open about where my hair needed more growth before making cuts so I knew what areas would still be a challenge afterwards. Bring photos of your cuts you've loved. Kei uses them to dial in your style with precision. The bonus? The setting itself. You're sitting in a vintage Kochs Chicago barber chair that swivels toward their original hair wash stations, all housed in a historic 1920s building steps from the Eastern Columbia bldg in DTLA's Historic Core. The place has legitimate old-school character. Highly recommend. Book ahead.

His scissor work is precise and deliberate. You can tell he knows exactly what he is doing. He also handled my beard with a straight razor, and the experience was smooth and controlled with zero nicks. I have been in chairs where that part feels risky. This did not. Overall, a true professional who takes pride in his craft. I will see you soon!

Inside there was a collection of streetwear for sale influenced by hip hop culture which were also the defining sounds of the playlist heard throughout my visit. I have a fairly simple understanding of hairstyles and proper hair maintenance. The barber Javin asked me questions about my usual hairstyle and went through suggestions regarding trimming technique. Ultimately, I went with low fade with and a touch up on the top. He mentioned my two hair whorls and overall head shape provided some considerations on what he thought would look natural, which I appreciated. In the end, the fade was perfect. Afterwards I went in for quick shampoo and conditioner which targeted my dandruff. While the location is somewhat out of the way for me, I can definitely rely on their dedication and handiwork.

But when he asked me what hair cut I wanted and showed him a picture of a burst fade Mohawk and he proceeded to ask have you had this haircut before. Then I showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted (which was a burst fade Mohawk) and he proceeded to say "is that really you". This was at the beginning of the hair cut. Mid way he asked a second time if I had ever had this hair cut before which I answered yes. Also at the beginning he had mentioned how much are we taking off the top. I mentioned just a little bit and we can work our way down. When it came to cutting the top I feel he had gone too low. At that point I just wanted to get out of the chair. I waited 2 days to post this just to see if my hair needed to settle in since I went from a wild lions mane to what ever this short hair cut I have now. But no matter how much I attempt to style my hair it just looks dumb. My feedback to Hin is if you aren't confident in cutting someone's hair then please just say so. Or if your specialty is clean cuts then tell your client so they can make the decision of sitting in the chair. I may come back to try with someone else to cut my hair since I feel the people here have some skill.

When I was there I was offered a drink and I chose the whiskey. I hate to say it, as a drinker thus kinda frustrated me because it was so little of an amount. I get it but dang I wanted some more. Valerie was my manicurist and she took her time giving me the full works on my very easy hands and toes because they were pretty short already but she was meticulous with everything. She did a great job. I liked the whole thing but as I look at some of the reviews the one thing I never hear anyone mention about is the price and at $150 for a Mani pedi some may say it's expensive, sheesh, I'm saying it. Lol Other than the price I enjoyed the experience as opposed to going to a regular nail shop. There are no drinks at some of the places I've been too. I'd do again, when I hit the lottery. I enjoyed it though and everything was finished in about an hour and ten.
