I'm not so sure that other barber shops or hair salons do better in terms of safety because I don't go anywhere else. The seat and arm rests are not sprayed with disinfectant or wiped in between customers. The barber cape that just came off the last person goes directly on to you without even an alcohol spray around the neck or chest areas in between sessions. The same scissors, hair clippers, and blade that was used on the person that just stood up gets used on you right after without steam cleaning or any sort of disinfecting. The barbers here do take risks with their own health as well because there is no screening process to protect themselves or others from their customers. But they do have to eek out a living the best way they know how. There were only three barbers at the time and spaced well away from each other but this is an enclosed shop, not outdoor. My barber had a mask on and he did use a laser thermometer on me but AFTER I was seated and caped. My mask never came off even when he needed to use the blade to clean up the edges of my haircut. But clearly risks were taken largely by myself to get the really nice haircut I am accustomed to getting from them and I must make it clear that it has been a terribly long while since I got one. The cuts here never disappoint me, but the safety measures do. For the price they charge I will not complain or dock them more than one star though this I am sure is arguable. I am happy to report that I am still healthy over a week after my haircut. I am either lucky or asymptomatic but either way I am quarantined at home again and have been since March 2020. read more

Walked in. Asked for a cleanup w/mid fade on the sides to the skin. Lady started talking about her son . Put my hair in clips and cut off all the sides in one number. This was all she did. When I asked if she was going to finish she rudely responded that it was what I asked for. I then had to repeat myself until she finally decided to correct the haircut. Even so she still did not do the job i requested. At this point I had enough and walked out. I went to my regular barber a few days later to get my hair fixed at a much more affordable price.$15 dollars. I tipped him 20 because he was able to fix it. Note it might have been that one person that didn't know what they were doing but the way I see it whoever you employ represents the company as a whole;thus, this place is way overpriced for the quality. The person that gave me a haircut just gave me a random haircut and nothing like the way I described her to cut it nor the reference that I showed her. I'm not sure if they don't do medium length hair but she basically butchered what I wanted my hair to look like. Will not be going back. I even told her the length that I wanted my hair and she kept telling me she was going to do it shorter by a few inches more than I wanted. I don't think she knows what layering hair is either. She kept cutting random sections of my hair and continuously making it shorter and shorter. I would avoid this this place unless you have short hair, and even then the other reviews I've seen have complained about their short hair getting messed up. So I've come here for years. The veteran barbers are great with cutting hair. But lately the new barbers have been awful. The last three times (I KNOW) have been awful with this last time being the worst! And I still tip these awful barbers and I shouldn't! It's been a few weeks since my cut and I'm still so frustrated that I feel compelled to leave a review. I'll just give the tldr. Lied to about who was cutting my hair. Took around an hour because he was too busy talking to the other workers, literally stopping for minutes at a time (I had to run out halfway through my cut to put more coins in the meter), and got the worst haircut I've had in my life. THE GOOD The first three barbers (the lady with short and colorful hair, the asian guy, and dark-skinned Latina) are arguably the best barbers here. I also like the Latina woman with curly hair and glasses (her chair is closest to the waiting seats), Rosario (the furthest chair), and Robert (next to the Latina woman with curly hair and glasses). They have different styles, but can provide a good fade and they know what they're doing. These are the barbers I recommend going to if you choose to come here The older Latino gentleman in the corner (chair #5) is decent (I cannot speak for the gentleman that wears a hat since I never got a haircut from him) THE BAD Chair #4 is an older Latina woman with glasses. I've received a haircut from her twice. Both times she pressed too hard with the razor and cut me. The most recent one is last night (picture attached). I DO NOT recommend going to her THE UGLY I have been coming since I was a kid and kept coming because I liked certain barbers. However, due to the nature of this shop (walk-in and first come, first serve), it is difficult to try and see the same barber consistently unless you get lucky or you wait until they're free and it is your turn Unless you are able to see the same barber, do not expect consistency. You can say the same thing to each barber, but each one will cut your hair differently CONCLUSION Because I am currently looking for consistency and quality with my haircuts (and after getting cut twice), I am choosing to no longer come here for a haircut read more

I called ahead to confirm if they are cutting hair OUTSIDE like other barber shops have decided to do so. The did not! I got there and this place was packed, people waiting inside, no open windows, there's a couple of air conditioners. Some patrons were not wearing mask, the barbers do wear mask and the barber seats don't seem like they are six to 10 feet apart. They do not offer any kind of hand sanitation, I did not see other barbers hand sanitize. I was taken upstairs and thought oh great maybe they're cutting hair upstairs and outdoors but it was just another small room. I decided to stay since there was a wall mounted air conditioner just 3 feet away from me blowing air towards me and the barber. I don't know how safe that was. But I could not wait to get out of there after it sunk in that this was probably not the safest environment to be in if you do not want to catch Covid-19. By far the worst barbershop I've ever been to. Been here 3x and all 3 different barbers messed up my hair. It's clear they have very little knowledge on what they're doing here. My hair has been cut 2 inches off when I asked for half an inch. They've dug into the squared line up about an inch. They cut my widow's peak without asking. My widows peak was fully grown out and very clearly showed that I don't cut it. They don't even seem to know the difference between a high fade and a mid fade. F this place. When I asked my barber to take a bit off the top, she instead made the front of my hair extremely uneven and argued with me telling me to just comb my hair over. I tried showing her the corner of my hair where there's very clearly a huge chunk of hair missing so it looks like I have a fucking crater on my head, but she would just talk over me telling me that it's even lol. Someone tell me how this is an "even" cut. I would recommend Mitsu or Danny. I haven't tried the other barbers yet. So far my experience with both of them are great. I usually get the tapered haircut, zero on the side and some trim on top. AVOID AT ALL COSTS This is place is completely unprofessional and a danger to you. All I asked for was a line up for my Beard. I walked out with 9 LONG AND DEEP CUTS on my face and neck. Half-way through the cut the Barber had the audacity to answer a phone and LEAVE the establishment for 10 minutes and when came back acted like nothing had occured. Sorry to leave negativity here but this was an extreme case. A gentleman named Roberto sat me down and asked me what I wanted. Keep in mind I have about 5-6 inches of hair and have a side-part to the right. I explicitly said I wanted a 2 fade. He refused to do a 2 fade and said he needed to start with 0 on the sides for the fade to work. I agreed on just having 1 on the sides without the fade since he claims it can't be done. I didn't realize he also intended to shave my top to a 2 as well. See the attached screenshot for the end result lol. He essentially just shaved my entire head bald. I don't know if he's new or if this was just a miscommunication, but in the 20+ years I've gotten haircuts, I have never once have anyone shave my head from asking for 2 fade. Literally the worst haircut I've ever gotten. I wasn't even expecting a lot here, just wanted a regular trim. I don't blame the business as I've gotten a good haircut here once from the owner (a lady, not sure what's her name but I asked for a 2 fade as well). Star Barber can be a hit or miss depending on who you get and if you know what you want. Generally, if you just show up, you'll find yourself waiting one haircut, which is about 15-20 min. The first time I went, I barely waited 5 min. The haircut I got, however, was a little more extra than I asked for and envisioned. In addition, I was nicked on the forehead by her blade. The second time, I got someone else who was much better and will cut it exactly how you'd like. All barbers here spend a good amount of time on sides/back to give it a clean cut. Tool hygiene seems questionable at best, esp. given the age of this place, but you get what you pay for and that's $15 pre tip. read more

I've gone here a few times and sometimes they're good, most times not so good. A pretty apathetic bunch. Their appointment system also doesn't work. I made an appointment today, arrived 10 minutes early and they told be my appointment was 30 minutes earlier. I showed them my email confirmation. The woman at the counter tried to help, the manager just said "that's weird," and couldn't care less. So I had to find someplace else, they made the decision not to return easy. They think they're way too cool. It's actually just too lazy and apathetic. This place is getting worst and worst. Their outside billboard states "8 barbers no waiting" I've been coming to this place for a few years now. Not sure where the other barbers go every time I go (usually a Saturday) but never seen 8 barbers altogether. Owner should implement an appointment or some system to work around their clientele or change their ad because the 8 barbers are never there. I like this place but I hate waiting. I've been coming here for five years and they always do a good job. They have quite a few barbers. There are 2-3 that have dedicated customers that will "wait" for them, and because of this I've never waited more than 5 minutes because I'm willing to take a chance on anyone who is open.
