We spent Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend at Ramona Oaks. We found it because we were looking for a quick getaway close to home. First let me say that the staff is outstanding. Extremely helpful and pleasant. Rich, a staff member, helped me back in to a very-very narrow spot and I was really appreciative. He also helped me out when we were leaving cause due to the unevenness of the ground I had trouble getting my anti-sway's on the trailer. Doesn't help also that I am a rookie to the travel trailer-RV world either!. If I was rating the site based on the staff only I would have give it a 5+ ! We had a site that was very narrow. So narrow that we barely had room to set up our outdoor area. There are larger sites nearer to the road (SR-78) that would have been preferable. Our location, #90 and those around it are really small. There are alot of permanent residents also, and they appear to be located in distinct areas, while the weekenders are on another couple of levels. The restrooms here are immaculate!! We have a 7 year old and we like to ride bikes. This park is not a bike riding one. Its really hilly. You can go down fast but coming up is quite the task. They have a play ground and a pool/spa. Both are in good condition. Our daughter played in the playground but as with most places this time of year the pool is really cold. Although it didn't stop other kids! They also advertise a putt-putt golf and we did use it but it is in disrepair, really bad shape. The staff said a recent management change was only a week or so old, and hopefully they will get this and other items around the camp site fixed up. Some local family members joined us for the day and kids went fishing down at the pond. No bites but it was relaxing. Next to the pond are some really big RV sites that we would target if we went there again. The staff hosted a chili-cook off at their "red barn." We went and it was nice. There was also a local wine maker and a separate local person selling cheese. We purchased some of both. The people were super nice. This place has some real possibilities. The staff know what they are doing and they indicate the owner is going to put some money into improving the entire location. In closing i would say that for a couple days away its a nice place to retreat. There is not a lot for children to do so if you bring kids be sure to include some board games or movies etc. In the summer I'm sure the pool would be a big draw too. Ramona and Julian are within range if you'd like to get out and about.

    The cabin was great!

My family and I absolutely loved our three day weekend here! We stayed in a cabin that was fully furnished with beds, dishes, toilet, everything you could need! We took advantage of all they have to offer: tetherball, mini golf, horseshoes, shuffle board, pool table, fishing pond, hiking, the fire pit, BBQ grill and the pool/ hot tub! The owners were super helpful and very friendly!! I highly recommend this place, especially to families.

I don't have the words to describe Ramona Oaks RV Resort. Everyone working here is wonderful and very very helpful and accommodating. We held our beautiful barn wedding here during memorial day weekend. We had roughly 45 people stay the entire weekend and 90 people attend the wedding. Everything ran as smoothly as a wedding could and the Resort helped in every possible way going over and beyond what was expected. To say I would recommend anyone stay here (or have a wedding or any event here for that matter) would be an understatement. I will forever hold this place dear to my heart. My family and I have enjoyed the park on many different occasions and I look forward to spending many more wonderful nights there.

We did not have a pleasant experience staying here. Unsupervised kids running around in and out of other peoples campsites. The sewage dump for our neighbors site was right near the picnic table where we wanted to eat. Moved it as far as we could away from it, but it didn't matter we could still smell it. Quiet time didn't exist while we were there with people going way past the posted time. campsites are really close together. Not a good weekend and we will not return in the future

    Space 17, nice and shady!!

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. Actually made reservations pretty late (like 3 weeks before) so that was nice. The location is really pretty and about 20 min from the quaint town of Julian. Our RV spot backed up to their small lake (which they said was stocked with fish, but we didn't see anyone catch a fish the whole time we were there), the site was nice and big. Only complaint would be in this space (17) you can hear the lake pump/filter/bubbler thing that runs all day. I guess it's similar to if you camped next to someone running a generator. I'm sure we would come back in the future, very nice place, great for groups, kids and anyone looking to get outta the city!

What a great place! Debbie and Mark truly care about you having a great time! And Scotty, is just the sweetest and so thoughtful. We got in on a late rainy night and he made sure the heater was on in our cabin. Thank you all so much! Like I mentioned, the weather wasn't in our favor but we still had a great time! We played mini golf and pool and almost BBQ'd but it was COLD! Great BBQ's! We did some hiking and since it was close to Christmas we put up a few decorations and really felt like our cabin was our home. That's what it's like staying here. Home. They had everything you could imagine to cook with. The couples cabin was so comfortable and the heaters were great! We loved the patio area and how centrally located we were. Also, bring some DVD's!!! We went to RedBox in town but had no idea the TV's also were BluRay players! Bonus! One thing I really noticed is how clean everything is! They really take great pride in caring for the property. We can't wait to come back in a few months!

The camo sites were very clean, full if tall beautiful trees and very quiet. The on-site staff (Debbie) was amazing and careing.

So this review is from someone who actually doesn't like camping and won't go willingly. Group site camping was something I was willing to try, given that it's ideal for families and a group site is contained a little better than individual sites. The group site has several tables under a overhang area and there's a nice spread for laying out meals. can accommodate 50 people, unfortunately kids count within that number so the downside is that you do have to be mindful of how many people are in your party. I think the group site could have easily housed 50 adults and 30 kids under the age of 13. There are bathrooms and showers on site to the group site, tokens need to be purchased at the entrance, it's $1 for 2 tokens, and 1 token is 2 minutes of water. One of the families in our group was smart to take a shower as a family before leaving and they didn't need to use as many tokens as they thought they needed. Bathrooms were fairly clean, bring your own soap. I highly recommend the travel soap sheets to throw in your pocket which will dissolve to soap with water. I did find that there were a ton of flies in the picnic area, so remember to cover your food because it'll be annoying. There's a water spigot in the picnic area so you'll be set to boil your water. There are nearby trails that are Kid friendly on this site, which was fun for everyone. Julian was 18 minutes north of this site and it was a nice place to stop by for an apple pie. I would camp here again but only in a group setting. I still stand by not being a camper willingly, at the end I just wanted to leave but it had nothing to do with the actual site. I can see avid campers enjoying this site

I wanted to share some info. I would've found helpful when researching this campground. *The campground is relatively close to Cuyamaca Lake (about 10 mins away) and Julian (about 20 mins away). *Water spigots are scattered throughout the campground at random campsites. The downsides (in my opinion): *Some of the campsites are on a slope so you have to choose wisely. (Campsites 1-19 seemed flatter than most sites) *The restrooms were also not as tidy as I was expecting but they got the job done. BRING YOUR OWN HAND SOAP. *The showers work on a coin system. This means you use dollar bills to get change in the form of campground tokens (NOT QUARTERS) which you use to shower. The change machine is located outside the restrooms.

The campground is incredibly beautiful, well-maintained, and spotless. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how welcoming and well kept everything was. What truly made our experience exceptional was the staff. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful, but Brian especially stood out. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and eager to share information about the campground and surrounding activities. His recommendations helped us make the most of our trip and made navigating the area so much easier. We had an absolute blast tubing down the beautiful river, and there was no shortage of fun for the whole family. The splash pad will be a huge hit when we come back with the kids, and the spacious campsites right along the water made for the perfect camping experience. We also had the pleasure of speaking with John, one of the managers, who was equally kind, courteous, and helpful. It is clear that the staff truly care about their guests and take pride in making every visit memorable. La Jolla Indian Campground is truly a hidden gem. Between the stunning scenery, clean facilities, amazing river access, and outstanding staff, it exceeded all of our expectations. We cannot wait to come back and create even more memories here. I have camped for many years, all over, and none were as bad as this. I called to check a few things on the phone before booking my reservation. They were very nice, polite, but were not forth coming with how this place works. The price is outrageous. Especially when many of the advertised features have been closed for a while. There are no designated camping spots and from what I can tell, they don't really seem to have any cap to reservations. We arrived at 755 am, yesterday, holiday weekend. Check in 8 am. There were about 6 cars in line but it took about 10-15 minutes to check in because of how slow they are to check people in. Then we drove in anticipation from zone 1 all the way to zone 9 looking for a spot, somewhere to camp, set up, relax, and enjoy the weekend. No such luck. Dozens and dozens and dozens of people every where. No marked camping spots. People camped on rocks, up against the mountain, in the creek bed, all over the place. People on top of each other, tent to tent. We left, and we know we were out the $ but we wanted some place to unwind and relax and this seemed like major stress and chaos. When we drove out there were another 10 cars in line waiting to check in. I have no idea where they were going to find a camping spot. Lesson learned to make sure that when you have a reservation for camping that you actually have and actual designated camping spot.

We camped in the Sunny Loop area. This provided a massive campsite with friendly neighbors that were far enough away that we had our privacy, yet easy access to go the bathroom/shower when we needed to. This campsite offers both unplumbed (a full toilet and closed in restroom, but with no running water, so you are essentially doing your business into a hole in the ground), and fully plumbed restroom (this was amazing because the shower temperature and pressure was perfect. The only comment on the restroom situation is that you cannot change the temperature of the shower, at least I wasn't able to figure it out when I was there while wrestling 2 young kids in the shower so it might be possible. There is an amazing hike that is easy to do with littles, it was something like 1.5-2 miles and ends at a beautiful lake. My littles had a blast wandering though nature and picking up pine cones and sticks, while also enjoying the stellar views while riding on dad's shoulders for a good chunk of the hike. This was our first official camping trip as a family and 10 out of 10 it was the best experience and best campground one could ask for. Many stars to gaze at, I've seen over 20+ falling stars. There's also coyotes, so be aware and keep your food in a secure place. ENVIRONMENT: There's not much to do here honestly. In the summer, you can use the pool, maybe play a game of pool table since there is a "game center" in the same building as the office. But the arcade games haven't worked in years! The only thing I did here was use the pool and maybe did a good mile hike around the gated campgrounds... not much sight seeing though.. There is a shuttle bus that will come pick you up to go to the Viejas Casino if you don't want to walk there. I see many campers take advantage of that since there's gambling, food places, and shoppes there if people are that bored. Overall, this place has so much potential. I hope in the future things will change here because it's located in a beautiful area, but the owners need to think about making this a memorable place that families would want to come back. I know there's a slight chance I might come back.
