The stay at Ramona Inn was comfortable, and the price was fair. The room was reasonably clean, but Room 115 could definitely use a few obvious repairs. Unfortunately, some of the staff came across as rude, especially the younger gentleman, which took away from the overall experience. I agree with some of the reviews on here where you need to check your expectations when you're booking here and staying in Ramona. For me, it worked out good enough as I often use hotels and motels to mainly sleep and shower when I am on vacation. If I know I am going to spend anytime in the room, I will book a higher end chain. Just a few things to note when booking: Lady at the front desk was pleasant and check in was easy enough. I was given room 201 which is right above the office and close to the road and it was louder than I like. Would recommend bringing ear plugs, just in case. Walking distance to some restaurants and shops. There is a parking lot and it can fill up, street parking available. Mini fridge and microwave in the room. No hair dryer. Lukewarm water and while not cold, and it was warm, it could have been a tad hotter. Plenty of wineries close by (if that is your thing) and lots of great hiking trails all around. Ramona is gorgeous and I enjoyed it, this place is what it is, and served its purpose. read more

Just a few comments from a weekly traveler: 1) In my opinion the shower renovation needed to include a shelf or somewhere to place the items you use - shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, razor, etc. 2) There is nowhere to lay a moist bar of soap after using it to wash your hands. 3) The soda machine ONLY accepts CASH. (Do most people carry small bills around?) Also NOTE: they say they are pet-friendly (don't see mention anywhere of the $27 PER NIGHT charge); They show a cute dog (pug?) IN PHOTOS on the website, but I cannot find anywhere that they have a 25# weight limit (altho' it was prominently displayed at the front desk at check-in). Stayed over Thanksgiving for a couple of days and was pleasantly suprised of how nice the rooms were - spacious, modern, and clean. Nice microwave and refrigerator and coffee tea in the room. Everything worked perfectly and the staff was outstanding. Highly recommend this hotel and we will be staying here in the future when visiting friends in san diego. read more

Absolutely hated everything about this place starting with the man at the front desk. He is nowhere n3ar personable. We requested a donstairs room with two queen beds as one of the party is unable to walk steps. We made advanced reservations so if this was going to be a problem, there was time to tell us. Instead, we were informed they gave out all downstairs rooms the night before and they were still in use. Finally, he realized the one downstairs room available was handicapped. However, itonly had one bed. We were provided with a cot that took up the little floor space that existed. It also turned out to be extremely uncomfortable. The room was not as nice as the pictures on the website. And who puts a handicapped room in the back away from the parking lot? Stupidly, there are two separate parking lits and office doors. Only one door is open, which is a fire hazard, and to get to the office from the room required driving to the other parking lot. Needless to say, we hated this place and will make sure others know not to stay here. read more

The only hotel in town and they know it. Dirty rooms, broken fixtures. Stayed in one room and the shower faucet fell off. Was then given second room which hadn't had the trash taken out. Stayed for 6 nights and had to ask for clean towels. They never once cleaned our room during our stay. The tables are sticky and covered with who knows what nastiness. It's apparent they are the only hotel in town and looks like they basically serve out of towner construction workers looking for a cheap place to lay their heads at night. So sad cause it's a cute, updated place. Unfortunately the state houses homeless people there, so lots of unsavory people around. The people in the room next to us definitely seemed to be on drugs, and were selling random belongings outside of their door. There was a lightbulb missing from our bedside table. I went up to the front to ask for a new one, and they said that people are constantly stealing them to smoke crack out of. I also killed a couple cockroaches, the desk did not seem concerned about any of these issues. When I complained to Hotels.com the hotel said that they would not refund anything, and I never brought issues to them. I paid over $300 for absolute garbage. read more

I booked 2 rooms for 3 nights for a job we were doing in town. The job COULD have taken up to 3 days to complete, so I booked 3 nights. We got it done in 1 day and only needed to stay 1-night. We checked out at 12:00 the very next day. While checking out I asked for a printout showing we are checking out early. I was told I couldn't get one. The girl at the desk said "You booked and paid through Expedia, so you need to go to them to get a refund for checking out early." So that's what I did the next day. While talking with Expedia they said they need to confirm with the hotel that I checked out early. They called the hotel, and the hotel said they would NOT issue a refund, because apparently i booked the rooms at a "non-refundable rate". So while checking out, the girl sends me to Expedia, then Expedia sent me back to them, back and forth, back and forth... They basically STOLE $600+ from us. I told the hotel if I didn't get a refund, I would be leaving bad reviews all over online telling all of yall what happened. They refused, so here I am. We were looking for something budget friendly since we were arriving after dark and would be leaving in the morning, plus family lives just up the road and it was convenient. For the price and location, I was very pleasantly surprised. The office was clean, the front desk courteous (but humorless - I'll give him a break, it was late), parking lot was clean and the exterior of the building was decent. Upon entering our room, it smelled so CLEAN! And it was. Very comfortable bed, a/c - heater worked well, the room got sufficiently dark when the blinds were closed and the bathroom was clean and modern. Big, flat screen TV with no issues, good wifi, cold refrigerator and nice hot water. There are no drawers in either the night stands or the area you'd put your clothes but still plenty of space to unpack and store your clothing. I felt very safe at Ramona Valley Inn and it didn't break the bank. Check out was extremely easy too. Usually when someone says you get what you pay for, you know it's not a good experience. Well, I believe we got MORE than we paid for. I recommend Ramona Valley Inn if you're looking for a cheap, clean place to lay your head for the night. read more

If I could give them no stars, I would. I stayed last month for a few hours and left in the middle of the night because I was worried for my safety. The power went out for 40 mins in only my room, then TWO DRUNK MEN TRIED TO BREAK INTO MY ROOM ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. The door hinge was broken, they kept knocking and trying to push the door open. I called the front desk and they came and apologized. I asked him if he could wait and walk me to my car and left at midnight with no place to go. Before leaving, I asked for a refund and the worker mentioned i le have to talk to manager in the morning. I returned and the manager mentioned that I would have to have booking.com reach out and he would approve the refund. BOOKING.COM HAS BEEN TRYING TO REACH HIM FOR A MONTH THROUGH EMAIL AND CALLS AND HE DOESNT RESPOND. I've tried calling and he is conveniently never there and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND. I am so sick and tired of dealing with them. Dirty place. Stayed 1 night here, my kids had a soccer tournament at the park across the street so this place seemed convenient to stay at, we risked the 2 star review for the convenience, which I regret now. I recommended to drive "down the hill" and stay at a decent place for a few more bucks. Within 10 minutes of walking around the room my kids white socks were black, the floors were filthy. Bathroom had hair in the shower and baseboards and the top of the toilet. Beds, pillows, and sheets were uncomfortable/scratchy and had an "old people" smell. Every wall in the room seemed to have been repaired with drywall putty but not painted (made me wonder what kind of crazy events happened in the room). Room door would not shut all the way (move about a half inch when locked, if someone walked by the door would shake slightly) Very thin walls we could hear the person next door in a regular speaking voice, there were sketchy people making noise and walking around all night outside the door. This place has a lot of potential and being the only hotel/motel in town it should really step up its game. read more

Tried to visit the Ramona Valley Inn for 2 nights in early July for my wife's birthday so we were close to the San Diego Safari Zoo and a few wineries. After checking in we went to our room, which was hidden in a corner of the property and entered only to be immediately greeted by about 15-20 flies hovering above the bed. We tried to convince ours it was ok and we'll get rid them. We began to unload and went to the restroom to place our items but the restroom smelled so bad like either some had just used it or sewer. Again trying to convince ourselves that it was ok and we'll make it work. Then we opened the blinds to try and begin getting rid of the flies but immediately outside our window was the neighbors garbage! Still- we wanted to make it work and changed for dinner. Upon leaving we realized we couldn't do it as more flies continued to appear and noticed how dirty the rest of the rooms was. I went to the front desk to try and explain the situation and get a refund. The clerk said she could only refund the second night but not the first. I asked if there's another room available and she said "no, we're fully booked", I said "ok so we're supposed to stay in a dirty, fly infested room? Why can we get a refund then?" Then she didn't say anything and proceed to mess with the credit card machine. Not saying anything, she processed a refund for the second night, handed me the receipt and said "here's your refund for the second night, I can't help you about the first". Wtf! The images of the inn that makes the background of yelp is not of this inn, which is the worst motel I have ever stayed at. I picked it quickly based on the nice photos on yelp of a real hotel. Clearly I was misled. This place is a subpar dive motel. I was placed into a room that smelled of smoke upon entry despite the sign saying non smoking. The windows were left open to clearly mask the smell which was so horrible no one could sleep. It retched between alcohol, smoke, vomit... and the old brown carpet was so dirty that I kept my shoes on to avoid getting dirty. The smoke alarm was missing and the sink was stained. The pillows were ratty and thin, smelly. The thin brown coverlet had no actual heat value on a cold night. The curtain was off it's track. The check in was through a window. At 4am I was alerted to a fraud credit card charge on the credit card I provided them for the room. I told the front window, yes window checkin girl about the fraudulent images of the hotel on yelp, I showed her the images and how they don't match the room. She said she would tell the manager, however I am checking out today. The only positives about the place is free parking and location. It is the only place in Ramona if you need to be here. I did notify the inn checkin window staff of how horrible the room was and the misrepresentation on yelp of the images however nothing was done. Note that the response to this review was not to remove their false images of a nice hotel, those images of a nice clean hotel interior are not from this inn/motel dive. read more

I discussed each issue with the hotel. Parking spaces are too small for a large sedan, SUV, or medium truck. They have parking both east and west of the office and there is parking on the side street. Loose shower handle, broken light fixture right of the bed, could not connect to Wi-Fi, TV did not work for a few hours due to a bad socket, and a loose toilet seat needs the screws to be tightened. I wish that housekeeping would see some of these issues and tell the management, so that they can be fixed before guests check in. Flea bite while sleeping - perhaps left over from someone's pet. Staff and guests did not wear masks. On Saturday night, people lived life out loud near my room. Music on the balcony. Neighbors talked until about 3 am; they did quiet down after the night clerk talked to them. Good basic room with great AC. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I wish I could give a negative star.... We checked into a king room and immediately was knocked over by the sweet smell of California car scents and mold. The wife walked in and immediately said no way. So I went down and they gave us another room upstairs. Opened that door and it had a moldy musty smell. Wife started wheezing and then sat on the bed for a bit and pulled the covers back... there was a large brown stain on the covers and a black bug. Not sure what kind of bug but we quickly got out of there. Carpets are black from heavy traffic no cleaning.. towels were off-white like they never had bleach. The bathtub still had hair in the bottom of it. When I went to the front desk the nice girl there had to ask, I assume the owner, how to give me refund. He refused to give me full refund even after I told him my wife couldn't breathe in the room because of the mold and canned fragrances. Finally he said he HAD to charge me for one night, so I left. There are other places to stay in Ramona which are far far superior to this place! We stayed at the Good Life resort and was very comfortable there. read more

In the past, rooms were out dated a bit, but clean. Staff was friendly. Prices were decent. Now they've done a remodel - the rooms look good. Staff isn't the friendliest or helpful. Price is higher. Electric outlets have USB ports. Good sized TV. Lit mirror in the bathroom. Hardwood floors. You would think they'd want to keep the rooms clean - especially with the pandemic still going on. This was not the case on our stay. Upon entering - intense wet dog smell. 1 bed - the bedding had not been changed, there was hair & dirt under the covers. Bathroom - hair in the shower. Dirt/dust on the floors. Toilet seat broken or not put together and there was gunk build up - gross. No towel rack or hooks to hang your towel. There was a baby roach on the wall. After not finding anyone we left to go get cleaning supplies came back and detailed the room. Cool, now we can bring our things in. There was a fridge & microwave. Both worked. Open fridge, momma or poppa roach comes darting out and ran under the case. Lovely. Guess we're not stashing our snacks in the fridge or room this weekend! The rest of our group checks in the next day. In their room - bathroom lights don't work, remote for the TV was no where to be found. No towels. Dog hair on the floor.. But atleast their bed was clean and they didn't spot any crawling visitors! read more

This place was a mistake. We needed a place to stay for a wedding reception nearby. Nowhere to hang a towel in the bathroom, no soap dish to put the bar of soap on, no tissues, hair on bathroom floor and bed. Red phone to use for front desk I assume was not working. The pool had more leaves and dirt in it than water. Saw a nice looking theater on the way to the wedding reception, it was closed at the time. Returning to room that evening noticed a very long line of people (200) maybe? waiting to get in. I thought, cool must be something happening in Ramona..... looked at the marquee and it said "Midget wrestling tonight"!!! Oh and a "don't tread on me flag" to just to round it out. BEDBUGS!!! We discovered bedbugs the first night staying here. We tried to alert the staff but they don't have anyone monitoring the front desk overnight, which means if you have an emergency you're totally screwed. We left immediately and are hoping to get our refund from booking .com. My guess is they're just going to rent our room to the next unfortunate soul who's unlucky enough to book a room here. Also, the room was not cleaned properly when we checked in, our smoke detector was missing and the wifi password didn't work. It's a sleazy $30 a night motel charging hotel prices. The rooms are being redone as quickly as possible. The floors are redone in a wood floor, the bathroom has been done with nice tile floors. The bathroom has nice shower with a glass sliding door. If I could give no stars, I would. We were greeted by a discourteous staff from the start who would barely take breaks from personal phone calls. When we entered the room, the fridge we asked about and were told was in the room was not there. The food we brought with us went bad. The Wi-Fi network didn't show up until we asked about it, then was intermittent enough not to hold a signal. The phone had no dial tone. The cable wasn't working. The remote was also intermittent. The blankets were thin enough to seem non-existent. Lighting fixtures were missing bulbs. The room is not what it seems in pictures. We had issues until about 10:00 at night, but decided to stay because we had four children with us. Regardless, the manager the next morning who declined to come out of his office would not issue a refund for our second night because they said we did not give notice. We told the young man at the desk the night before that we would be looking for a new hotel. They were uncaring and unprofessional. The only saving grace was the housekeeping staff, who were excellent. They are the only reason we could stay to sleep even one night I will be seeking further action for my refund. This place has been remodeled recently but the staff is letting it slide. I have been staying here almost weekly since Nov, but it has gotten so bad that we as a family can't stay here any longer. The blankets are so thin that they might as well be sheets. The toilet seats are broken, so you run the risk of falling off at a time when you don't want to. There were literal clumps of dirt on my bed the last time I was there. Shower doors broken and not functional. The tv constantly losses volume and sometimes picture. Last but not least we have been intruded on my cleaning staff multiple times before checkout. A long time ago, this place was run down and bad. It did get better for a time, but the rude cleaning staff, broken rooms, and filth make this a not so charming hotel that had potential that was thrown down the toilet. There are better places to stay along your travels I'm sure, look into them because the memories made here are not scrapbook worthy. read more
