    Condo #5643
    Stan M.

In town for my sons wedding and we decided to book this location. We arrived after 6pm which made us stop down the street to San Vincente Resort to pick up our room keys. Wasn't bad, but luckily we called ahead to say we would need a late check in otherwise we wouldn't have known until we arrived at a closed front office. In our paperwork it stated to check in the following morning, which I did. No big deal, was greeted, she was nice and friendly. Told me the details of the resort Driving to our condo at night was very hard to see the sign saying the address, really needs a light. After driving for 7+ hours and not being able to see the sign was frustrating. After a couple pass by's and now counting parking lots compared to the map we found our spot. The 2 bedroom condo was amazing. Bedrooms were huge, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living & dining rooms. If you drink coffee they give you 1 at no charge (filter with coffee inside) extra coffee is $1.25/filter. We had our own. Freezer has an ice maker, it's off so you have to turn it on. They have a small selection of creams, equal, sugar & tea. They have all the supplies, plates, pots, silverware and cooking utensils. Electric BBQ on balcony. Contactless service, just call house keeping and they will leave outside door on a table next to the door. Great overall stay. Amenities swimming pool (reserved times during Covid), spa closed, gym times available, basketball, racquetball & tennis. Parking lot right outside of our condo. This was a great find, next time we are in town to visit our son & daughter in law we will be booking here again.

Pleasantly surprised with San Diego Country Estates in Ramona, CA. For one week, it served as our home away from home. We booked a 2 bedroom unit at this timeshare way in advance. When we booked, we thought it was closer to San Diego. Although it was further than expected, I would book this property again. Our unit was very comfortable. We all slept very well. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Only complaint would be that the walls were too thin. Thankfully, our neighbors were not loud in the evening. The property also had many facilities. I noticed a pool, billiard table, basketball court, and many tennis courts. Unfortunately, we did not use any of them. Most of the day, we were out and about exploring San Diego County. Terrific 7 night stay in San Diego Country Estates! I look forward to perhaps spending more time here in the future.

We arrived here at 12-26-2018 for 7 days. This is the San Diego Country Estates actually located in the Ramona California. From day one the heating did not work they investigated and found that it needed a part. They gave us three space heaters and the circuit breaker kept popping all day everyday. The part for the heating never did come in so we had to utilize those three space heaters and deal with the popping of the circuit breaker. Today we were checking out we discovered three men working outside our three windows. My wife was walking with no clothes on. We should have been notified these men were outside our windows. They should not have been out side ours windows period. My rating for the San Diego Country Estates here in Ramona, CA is 0.

One of the 2 story condo buildings... try to get the top floor. The bottom floor is DARK with no sunshine and no views.

When we initially checked into our 1 bedroom "condo" it was a bottom floor and it had NO view and was down below a hill... it was dark and cave-like... I was extremely disappointed. I called the front desk and they told me it was all they had. I said that was unacceptable. They offered us a 2 bdrm for $50 more per night. There were only 2 of us... this was more than we needed and we did not want to pay and additional $100 when all we wanted was a room with a little sunlight and a bit of a view. (Mind you, I ASKED the gal at the counter when we check in and she said it would be fine... it wasn't.) We told them we were going to leave to get something to eat and would be back... we gave them our cell numbers and said to call if they found something. While we were eating (at the Oaks Grill), they called. They found a 1 bdrm on the 2nd (top) floor, with a view! We were DELIGHTED! This room was light and bright... it felt like we were in a tree house. The places are decently decorated, clean and comfortable. They get 2 thumbs up for solving our problem!!! There are a ZILLION tennis courts (only a couple lighted) so if tennis is your think you will be delighted! There is no restaurant on property. The pool is small but clean. The clubhouse has a LOT of activities. (Kind of out of the way to have to check in to club house to get a key to go to pool and then trudge back up the stairs to return the key at the end.) I called about horseback riding, they never called me back. They only had 1 hour rides - with helmets. We were MUCH happier with our horseback ride up in Julian! We would stay at this place again if we knew we could get a great 2nd story room with a view!

Great area to walk around in.

My boyfriend has really bad insomnia but he said he actually slept great! I let him sleep in while I explored the hotel cafe and lounged on the balcony. There was a few parties and events going on that day (June 25th) but we couldn't hear a thing, at all. Our suite had a huge soaker tub and a huge shower that came in clutch, they even have complimentary bath salts and all the soaps! If you want more, they sell nice stuff in the gift shop, too. We also went to the cafe for breakfast burritos and coffee and both were a great way to start our day. Highly recommend staying here for a celebration. I felt like royalty and would love to come back. Shout out to Lorenzo and the team!

This review is mostly for the Viejas hotel as they have two on the property. I was offered a early check in which I was happy about and the gal in the front asked if I wanted the tower that faced the outlets or the tower that faced the parking garage. Naturally I picked not looking at the parking garage but as I settled in and put my bathing suit on I realized I had to walk through the casino with all my stuff and not too many clothes on that I asked if they would move me. They gladly did and again a room was available, thank you for that. The first thing I noticed when I entered was that there wasnt enough light and nothing was automatic. The curtains were hard to open and close because chairs and tables were in front of it and all the lights had to be switched on and off which was a little annoying for me. The elevators were slow but there was always housekeeping in the hallway if I needed any extra coffee or water and they were all really nice. You also couldnt log into your netflix or other streaming services which was a bummer. They did even have a cucumber lemon water in the lobby which was really refreshing as well. The pool was nice and had a DJ on the weekend but there was no service and no food as well. Just a walk up bar that was closed on Monday when I went, On sunday I did come down in my regular clothes to sit in a "cabana" for a moment when I was rudley asked to move as it was for reservations. I did see a reservation sign on the same bed the day before and it wasnt on there on Sunday so I thought it was ok to sit but the guy working there who didnt seem to like his job let me know he cant have me sitting there. I think next time they should just leave the reserved signs on there so there is no confusion and or just let someone sit if the pool is not even busy anyway. I did need the light to work so the lighting part cut my work time and they had robes and no slippers. Hopefully next time I stay it will be more available. I did win at bingo so overall I left pretty satisfied :)

First, the biggest issue: roaches and spiders. Yes, you read that correctly. There were both roaches and spiders in my room. When I reported it to the front desk, I was shocked by the response. The employee simply said, "That's common here," as if it were completely normal. Instead of offering a meaningful solution, they handed me a new toothbrush because a roach had crawled all over mine. And that was it! Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. I've contacted the corporate office and hope they'll offer a refund or some other form of resolution. The food was decent, but it was overpriced. You won't find much on the menu for under $13. On a positive note, the spa was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed my treatments, and the staff there were warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Along with the kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders, they provided excellent customer service. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the front desk, whose response to a serious cleanliness issue fell far short of what I expected. The furniture is falling apart and the floor is stained. The cleanliness of this place is unfortunately subpar. There were random rags just laying around for some reason, and no one picked them up (so I did). Very disappointing for the amount of money I spent...

Despite repeated attempts to enjoy…read morethis casino, the consistently low payouts on the machines have made it difficult to justify returning. Other casinos in the area offer noticeably better returns, and I struggle to understand why Barona is considered a favorite by so many. During my visit today, patrons repeatedly exited through an emergency‑only door to reach the parking lot. Each time, the alarm sounded throughout the building for approximately 15 minutes. No security staff responded or appeared to investigate. If this had been an actual emergency or attempted theft, the individuals involved would have been long gone. Barona should consider stationing a security guard at that exit or installing a barrier and clear signage to prevent misuse. It has also become apparent that the casino caters heavily to one demographic, leaving others feeling overlooked. The upcoming addition of new seating and another Vietnamese restaurant reinforces this imbalance. While the coffee shop has improved, it remains understaffed. To their credit, the employees who are present work hard and provide good service. I will acknowledge that the comps have improved recently, and most employees have shown better attitudes. However, I did encounter one staff member who ignored me while repeatedly assisting the Diamond line. When I asked if anyone could help, he responded "no" and walked away. Fortunately, another employee--Michelle, I believe--stepped in and assisted me professionally. Club Barona should strive for more consistent service across all tiers. At this point, I plan to take a break from visiting Barona. My husband rarely wins, and we increasingly feel out of place. I am also frustrated by the behavior of certain patrons who rush to take over machines the moment someone stands up, insert their player cards before a person has fully finished playing, or hover and stare to see what others are winning. I have even had people insert their card while I am still playing. This behavior only seems to happen at Barona and creates an uncomfortable, discourteous environment. Additionally, the machines are positioned too closely together, leaving little space to play comfortably. There are simply too many people hovering and watching. I also want to acknowledge the custodial staff. I have never seen so much spitting in trash cans or trash thrown on the floor. My husband has never seen so much spitting in the urinals. It is genuinely disgusting, and I cannot imagine the mess these employees have to clean up daily. They deserve recognition--and a raise--for dealing with this. Overall, your staff that walks the floor are great, but Barona has several operational and cultural issues that need improvement. Meaningful changes should be considered and implemented before I would consider returning. Instead of having security stare at players as if they are going to damage a machine--or whatever is being monitored from the eye in the sky--security should be walking the floor and addressing the rude behavior occurring daily. I truly hope Barona takes these concerns seriously and makes changes that create a fair, welcoming environment for everyone. Many longtime players I know, including high‑money players who once visited regularly, refuse to return until improvements are made. Continuing to cater to only one demographic is both inconsiderate and detrimental to the business.

The 2 mineral hot springs pools are nice. I recommend that you upgrade with a stay so that you have access to the secluded pool, which is really private and a level up. People get day passes, but that only works at the main pool. The main pool gets very, very crowded with day pass attendees. Again, I highly recommend upgrading with a stay so that you have access to the very very nice amenities. There is a restaurant, called Long Shadow, and I'll have a separate review for that. Overall, this was a wonderful and great trip.
