This Ramos Tex-Mex location is just by a Shell station on the corner of N MoPac Expressway and Merrilltown Dr. This review is for breakfast. Food: Sausage and egg breakfast was decent - eggs cooked as ordered, beans were reasonably tasty, sausage patties were ok, and the home fries could have been cooked a tad longer. Homemade flour tortillas, but they were thin and lacked the fluffy goodness needed to properly sop up a runny egg. Breakfast tacos were good, and made with homemade tortillas. Service: Greeted at the door, and staff are friendly. Had to ask for refills, but otherwise food came out in good time and was fresh. Cost: For whatever reason, the huevos rancheros cost a dollar more than the sausage and egg breakfast - they both come with eggs, potato, beans, and choice of tortilla (flour or corn). I suppose the ranchero sauce costs $1? Sausage and egg breakfast, 4 tacos, a coffee and a tea ran us about $24 after tax. Overall: Not sure why the ladies room smelled like an ashtray, but it did. Parking outside is plenty. Takes cards. Has a full bar for those keen on a margarita. read more

I've been to this restaurant in this past, although infrequently. The food had always been good. But gosh was i disappointed and disgusted yesterday, 10/12/2023. I ordered their Thursday lunch special, a Chile Relleno with a chicken filling. If arrived looking promising with Mexican rice and Charro beans. When I cut into it I was surprised to see a bright green Anaheim chile. I was surprised not that it was an Anaheim chile but that it looked raw. I took a bite of the breaded chile and sure enough it was raw and uncooked. I proceeded to scrape the breaded coating and the filling. I had asked for chicken but it was a soft mayonnaise like concoction with very little chicken, if any. It was gosh awful. The service is very good - friendly and efficient. Hopefully their other dishes are edible. What's perplexing is my past visits had been good. I may return but I will not order the Chile Relleno. read more

What another great experience with Ramos. WOW. I got the al pastor and al pastor quesadilla. I don't eat tortillas because of stomach issues, but I love the ingredients combined and can scrape everything out. SO GOOD. And then of course ordered a cup of their jalapeno ranch - better than Chuy's hands down. Last time I went I ordered a GD cup of it so I have it for my salads. Dreams come true. I mean seriously the service here is 11/10. I had a frozen margarita mixed with some strawberry thanks to Yosi's recommendation. If you get the chance to have her at your table, you are lucky. This is a great place for some Mexican food! The menu is massive with many options to choose from. The prices are so right! I am very impressed with their beef fajita burrito and ground beef Chile rellanos. Those 2 are the best things I've tried here. They've got some downright delicious charro beans as well. I haven't had their breakfast yet but with dinner tasting the way it does I have no doubt that it'll be devine! I dined in once and received great and fast service. 3 botched take out orders in a row over the last few months. This place has some of the best breakfast tacos in town, but for whatever reason they can't fulfill orders accurately anymore. The first time it was one missing carne guisada, the second time it was 3 missing tacos out of 9 and the latest time it was 6 chorizo tacos instead of bacon. I understand things happen, but this is becoming a pattern. Out of bacon and need to sub? No problem - just let me know. If you marked what the tacos were on the foil it would probably make it a lot easier to make sure everything was correct before people got their orders. I hope you folks can figure this out, because I want to keep coming here. read more

My favorite TexMex in Austin. No discussion. Food is always so fresh. I don't know how this place isn't known better vs the other local trash TexMex. Lunch specials are amazing. Prices overall are very reasonable for the area. Great for breakfast lunch and dinner. Great burgers too. Owner Fidel and his wife are friendly and accommodating. Staff is great and attentive. Employee's are rude I had an issue with my order and the Manager Vida stated she would correct the order. When I went to order person on the phone said there was no MOD I asked again and she said no manager until Monday. Finally spoke with someone else and she was completely rude. I have eaten frequently at the Ramos in Manor and the one (burned down) in Bastrop, but this is the first time I have tried the one closest to my home. It was a Saturday morning and I arrived right as they opened. I had their Migas, potatoes, and beans. I don't know if they would have come with cheese in them, but I tend to always ask for cheese since some Migas don't come with cheese. These were tasty and hot, though a tiny bit on the hot side. Serranos were hot! I still really enjoyed them. Don't let this "hole in the wall" place in an industrial strip center fool you, it has really good food. read more

Had a great experience at this place. We are from out of town and my family wanted to have a quick lunch so decided to go here. My aunt seems to be a regular since she knew the waiters names so had to check it out. We ordered chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce, the chicken flautas plate and also a order of queso. It was all soo good!! The tea was freshly brewed. The chile that comes with the chips was actually spicy!! Wow plus they were on it, No long wait. So overall yes we would go again and next time try the Combo fajitas it looked and smelled good. read more

My husband brought me here for a nice yummy breakfast. It's a nice quaint Tex-mex spot. They keep the place clean. You can seat yourself and they get to you right away ready to start you off with your drink. You see the kind sweet girls always making sure our drinks are filled and the tables are clean along with checking in to see if we are happy with our meal. There isn't much of a wait for your food and it comes out piping hot and all freshly made. I seen all the reviews about the breakfast tacos, so I had to go with those. I got the bacon and egg breakfast taco on corn tortilla and a barbacoa taco. You can choose to have it with onion and cilantro but I had it plain with some lime. My husband had a miga, carne guisada (lettuce, tomato & cheese) and barbacoa (onions & cilantro) breakfast tacos. They were all delicious. The egg & bacon was like a home cooked meal and the bacon had just the right amount of crunchiness to it. The barbacoa is my favorite and is full of flavor. They are not cheap on the amount they put in the tacos either. My husband really liked the miga but barbacoa is still up there possibly for a tie. The service is five stars. They are quick, kind and do their job very well. Always wearing a smile for the customers. I would definitely come here again and recommend others to try it. Get out there and try something new. Chicken Flautas were pretty dry and tasteless. The freshly made tortilla chips were very good. The salsa was good, The white salsa was ok but runny and soupy but had a nice kick. I loved the rice, not that dry parboiled crud from a barrel that most mexican restaurants serve! I forgot to delete the re friend beans, it was ok, but I shouldn't be eating smashed beans with lard and salt. Friendly staff. Prompt service. But one annoying factor made it not so nice. Two low life yahoos at a table both doing business after eating for along time and with both speaker phones on loud. Too bad no one in charge would ask them to go outside or to take it off speaker phone. Not to mention our orders are ALWAYS correct, they never miss anything and are so welcoming when we come to pick up our order. The food is TASTY!! I recommend their chicken flautas and the fajitas! I had gone to Ramos about 2 years ago and the food was pretty good. I went back last week and the food was terrible. The flour tortillas were hard. The beef fajitas in the fajita tacos did not taste good. The refried beans were runny and the rice was tasteless. The service was slow and there were very few customers. Hands down, some of the best fresh salsa I have ever had. My visit was during the covid craze & the restaurant was ran with attention to patron spacing & cleanliness. Ramos is a small, family friendly Mexican restaurant in an unassuming strip mall off north loop 1 and howard. The prices are great, last time I got 7 tacos it was around $16 with tax. The ranchero sauce is so good, I use it instead of hot sauce. Their migas are the best amd just the right level of heat and the migas taco follows suit. They have menudo on the weekends and my son's grandma loves the machacado w potatoes for breakfast. Good chips and salsa, to boot. The tortiallas seem homemade but I haven't ever asked. Ramos was a very surprise find. We went for lunch to a different restaurant but since that was closed, Ramos was the closest from there. The restaurant doesn't look really awesome, but the food made up for it. They have great happy hours and the kids meal options are awesome. The warm nachos and ranch dip was one of the best I have had. We ordered chili relleno and chipotle shrimp adobada, both were amazing. My son loved the cheese queso and refried beans, which is saying something since he is a very picky eater. We also tried the fried icecream and it's just huge with one big fried icecream, 4 sopadilla topped with a generous amount of whipped cream and chocolate. Just had an excellent experience dining at this establishment. The food is authentic and the flavors are top notch. Plenty has been mentioned in other reviews and photos, to justify the ratings on Yelp. What set it apart for us today is extreme professional and gracious customer service. We placed our order and the server brought us our food which looked delicious and smelled great. However, after our food arrived, we realized it was drenched in a Tex-Mex sauce, that looked yummy, however we do not eat beef and the sauce had beef in it. The server immediately noticed our disappointment, wasn't her fault, but she discussed it with the owner/manager(?) who came to our table and brought us a new plate with cheese and ranchero sauce. Hats off, for turning this around and making sure we had an enjoyable meal..!! My family and I have been eating in and ordering take here for a few years. This is my go to place when i'm craving something down home and delicious. They have a great menu variety, to where even your pickiest kids can find something on the menu. I have a few favorite items and they have never turned down any of my crazy special order requests. My faves (in no particular order: Migas are top notch and spicy! These are REAL down home el Mexicana style migas. ( I also order them on my eggs benedict) Which leaves me to my next fave: Eggs benedict, I prefer them with bacon and Migas style and mothered in queso. You will not be disappointed.
