Friendly staff. Margaritas are delicious. I enjoyed the midori over the regular frozen margarita. Chips were ok. Salsa reminded me of taco cabana salsa. Now the jalapeño ranch salsa is amazing! I had the enchilada plate, it came with one beef enchilada with chile con carne, one tomatillo green chicken enchilada and the red cheese enchilada. The red cheese enchilada was by far my favorite!! Hubby had steak a la mexicana plate, it's pretty much like beef fajita, onions and Serrano . Serrano's were spicy for his liking. The rice sucks. I love rice and beans and these both need improvement in my opinion. Home made tortillas! The queso was ok. 6/3/17-UPDATE--Omg you must try their stuffed avocado!! The picture doesn't do it any justice. The stuffed avocado is stuffed with shredded chicken, cheese and avocado of course. The breading is light and definitely NOT overpowering. It comes with your choice of sauce. I ordered the ranchero sauce on the side. Tasty. My daughter had the kids chicken tenders and fries and the tenders might be homemade. Well at least they don't taste like they came from a frozen bag. Nice portion! Hubby had the #2 plate and it was good! Only complaint was the flautas, he said they were a little dry. Tried this place because I was craving shrimp quesadillas and it's one of the few I could find up north. Ended up finding my new fav Tex Mex place! Chips, salsa, and jalapeño ranch were delish and the raison d'etre - the shrimp quesadilla - was one of the best I've ever had. Ever. We also tried the chimichanga w/tomatillo sauce and it was (direct quote) "damn good!" The only drawback (and this is super small) is that the cigarette stench from the billiards hall next door seeps in just a bit. But it's not the restaurant's fault and it really is very minor. The tasty food smell will make you forget quickly. I promise! I definitely recommend this place and will be back *very* soon!! read more

Soon thereafter, a table of young guys entered and scarfed down several plates of Tex-Mex comida. An older, socially-inept man walked in, asking the guys and I what was good, what we were eating, and how it tasted as we were trying to eat it. I ordered the Combo No. 5. Combo Numba FIVE! And as I continue, the aromas entice. So what can I do? Previous plans I abort. To me, eating food is just like sport. Anything with spice, it's all good; let me eat it. Their food, you can hardly beat it. A cheese enchilada in my life; Refried beans add to my thighs. A little bit of taco is all I need; The Mexican rice I will soon bleed. Leftover hunger leads to a flan. Major food coma, sleep 'til dawn. Their white and red salsas ain't so bland. Yelpers picked another winner, everything we tried was topnotch including the service. The mixed beef and chicken Ramos fajitas had great flavor and tenderness, the charro beans were some of the best we've had lately, the rice was good, pico spot on, guacamole was tasty, the tortillas were very good. My wife had a trio of enchiladas, beef, chicken and cheese, and loved them, and what she couldn't finish got snarfed up by me...she thinks of me as her personal garbage or in this case...good food disposal. The chips are good but the two sauces that came out with them were stellar, thee green sauce should be bottled and mass-marketed, put it on a cat blanket and it'd be good. I haven't yet had the chance to try the breakfast tacos as my morning commute is the other way but I really enjoyed the food I had here for dinner. The place is a small hole in the wall and a little dinky but it gets the job done. The waitresses were very sweet and food came pretty quickly. I had a quesadilla with fajita chicken and a mexican martini per the servers recommendation. They were both pretty good. My friend had a combo fajita so got to try the shrimp and beef as well. It was all very good. I noticed there's a little bar further into the restaurant. I'll definitely come back here and try some of the other dishes. read more

My favorite breakfast taco place on Earth. Whenever the traditionally busy brunch places near me (cafe java/monument cafe) are packed, I remember to come here and am always satisfied. All of the ingredients are just as I like them - fluffy flour tortillas, fresh salsa, the "good" shredded cheese. Lately I've been getting the migas breakfast tacos and adding bacon. Even w/ the extra-topping and not-breakfast-time upcharges, it is a tremendous value because it's just flat out better than anyone else's breakfast tacos. When we first came a few months ago I noticed a slight smoke smell but not in the 4+ visits since. We have also had the same waitress every time and she's always helpful/attentive. I encourage everyone to give it a shot - the food is much better than your typical taqueria food and I like supporting family-run establishments. read more

Ramos is a nice and cosy little place if you are craving Mexican food! It is pretty authentic as well and they offer breakfast all day! I got the breakfast French toast platter because I was craving it (which you probably would not get at a Mexican restaurant), but it was really good and the chorizo was excellent! They were perfectly spiced and the pork was tender in the chorizo breakfast tacos! The tacos are also really good! I also had some of the happy hour margaritas but they were a little too strong for me! If you check in here you can get 15% off an entree! But they only let you use one per party I think! This place seems absolutely unassuming from the outside but this restaurant has a true heart and soul! Starting with the staff, who were extremely helpful and engaging, always made sure our salsa and waters were topped up. I got the Veggie Enchilada plate and my partner got the #1 Combo with a beef chile relleno and chicken enchilada -- we loved both. The salsas they bring to the table are to die for! I could drink the red one with how flavorful it is. The creamy jalapeño salsa was pretty good as well, but a little less thick than Chuy's creamy jalapeño, which is my personal favorite. The chips were warm and crispy and perfectly salted. We also ordered a horchata, which was delicious as well. We've been trying to find a Tex-Mex place to replace Chuy's on our roster and I think this is the spot! I do wish a cheese chile relleno were offered, as I was craving one when I saw how delicious they look. Overall, amazing service, great vibes, great food! It's been a while since I've written a review, but after the Roger Stone fiasco, I decided to utilize my right to speech to speak on this amazing food. While on a training week in Austin, the Land o' Liberals, I decided that my God-given per diem should be fully realized, but since my lunch break was during regular work hours, it was probably best that I didn't drink from the devil's cup. My lunch companion (who insisted on referring to me as her training bff, whatever that means) decided that we should order from the "lunch" menu (which was difficult to determine). I agreed, until I realized what the devil had in store for us. The Tuesday "lunch special" featured 2 "Tex Mex" enchiladas (I assume pre-wall). The regular version featured 3 enchiladas. The difference was $1. As a devout Christian, I realize that all go(o)d things come in three. How many wise men were there? 3. Which time is a charm? 3. How many strikes until you're out? 3. I decided to pay this $1 extra for salvation. This proved to be a grave mistake as the enchilada sauce was shown to be a more worthy adversary than David was to Goliath. I hit the bathroom faster than Usain Bolt. I released my demons like a squirt gun through a screen door. Sweet release! The bathrooms were clean and ready to do the Lord's work. I was going to update this review, actually. When I left that morning, it was obvious that everyone's nerves were frayed. The owner brought it up later and explained what had happened when he saw me. I think this is excellent customer service, since he recognized me and offered an explanation, without prompt. To reiterate, the food is amazing and everyone there is really nice. Went for breakfast with the wife. Located in a dilapidated building the restaurant itself is clean, welcoming, casual. Service was efficient with coffee refreshed periodically. Food is good, freshly made. Loved the Carne Guisada Omelette. Those potato sides are the best I have ever head. Top off with a salsa verde and that takes me to heaven. The wife had French toast that was thoroughly enjoyed. Final bill with tax came to a tad under 20 bucks. We will be back - for dinner next time. They make Menudo on weekends. Great place. Ignore the reviews where they mention the 'ranch' because they don't know what they are talking about - it is creamy jalapeno dip which is fairly common in Tex-Mex...... Love Chuy's jalapeno dip? Their's is better! Breakfast is amazing. My go-to is the breakfast tacos, especially the migas. They have giant pancakes with this homemade pecan-honey compound butter. I'm not a pancake fan but I can't turn these away. Surprisingly, their burger is also pretty darn good. read more

This is a pretty good run of the mill Tex-Mex restaurant. The fajitas are good! They also serve salsa and creamy japaleno ranch with your chips (I know some people find the ranch weird, but it's kind of an Austin thing, I think. Maybe Chuy's started the trend?). The service is fast, the food comes out fast, and there's never a wait. It's really standard food, nothing deviating too far from tex-mex. It just gets the job done which is totally fine. I hate to give the dissenting opinion but I did not have a great experience here. If you'll look at my other reviews, my default is pretty much 4 stars. If a place feeds me pretty good food in a fairly timely manner, I'm typically a happy camper. The service here was just fine, no complaints at all. However, I'm sat down with a bowl of chips and salsa (good) and ...ranch? I mean, obviously it was complimentary and I didn't have to eat it, it was just weird. Chips and salsa were solid. Generally, two of my go-tos for new Mexican places are taco salad and fajitas. I went with the former and was essentially served the taco truck version of a salad - it was mostly fried tortilla with a little lettuce and tomato and some toppings. It was so tiny! Tasty drowned in salsa, but tiny. I'd leave the experience as 3 star experience, except I felt mildly ill for the next 24 hours. I'd chalk that up to coincidence, but my husband felt exactly the same way. Something didn't jive well with our innards. Obviously, some people love this place. I wanted to love it. Would I go back for chips and salsa and some margs? For sure. I'm sure I'll end up trying this place again since it's on my way to and from work every day and if my experience is different the next time, I'll update my review. read more

I've been looking for a alternative to Maudie's on N.Lamar since we moved to AR. Ya know, Good Tex-Mex, unlimited tea refills, chips, salsa and Queso that makes you keep eating and then homemade tortillas. Bonus if they make a strong margarita. 32oz beers as well. This is the place. We tried the fajitas, grilled shrimp salad, stuffed avocado and it was all fantastic. Service was top notch and cost was reasonable.
