Good service, the food is very good and it didn't take long to get our food. For sure when we go to Tucson we'll be going there again.

I came here this morning with family. I was at first slightly bummed that they had made my favorite table by the back door now a six-top. It was a good little alcove for a four-top or for two people. Oh well. On a more positive note: I must say the service is very attentative here and we had a good meal. Our waitress told me about the breakfast tacos special when I asked her for some recommendations. They were super duper good! Mine had potatoes, eggs and some chopped bacon bits, along with cheese on top and served with salsa on three flour taco tortillas. Look forward to coming back.. read more

Came in on a Tuesday morning with the family for some breakfast. Had both Mexican and basic American options. Prices are decent, server was pleasant, and inside is your basic diner decor. American breakfast options were good, but TBH I don't expect much for Bacon, Eggs, and Toast. Good cuts of bacon though! Chorizo burrito was OK, good size, flavor was decent. Machacha and eggs were also pretty decent. Salsa was ok. Chorizo pretty much over powered it, so it tasted better on the basic breakfast burritos. Micheladas were delicious. All in all, I would definitely come back. It's too bad we won't have this spot in Southern California... $3 beer happy hour and $5 House Marg sounds like an amazing time. The service was good. However the Caldo De Queso had an oiled down layer, on top of that the soup only had 2 potatoes . The beans were dry and bland. Maybe will try a different dish next time but the Caldo De Queso and beans were not it. The salsa and chips were good. read more

Very poor Menudo!! Disappointing and flavorless. To say the least, 95% hominy and bits of tripe. The broth was very watered down. Maybe they should taste the food as they go. This is a pretty simple review. They serve breakfast lunch and on some days dinner. They have an excellent selection. The food is tasty fresh and everyone is friendly! They were quick to serve us. We are regulars there and we plan to continue to be regulars! They have some non-Mexican dishes like hamburger and french fries which I've heard are very good. Some very conventional breakfasts as well as Mexican style breakfast. Excellent the places always packed around the meal times and they do have outdoor seating. read more

So happy to find this great restaurant! I had the chile Colorado which was very tender and flavorful and my hubs ordered the machaca with eggs. Although served differently than other places it was delicious! Typically it's the meat and egg mixed together but hub had no complaints! The sides were good as well as the in house made corn tortillas. Yummy! The service was great. Everyone was friendly and observant to our needs without hovering. Have enjoyed breakfasts here and wanted to try dinner. Service is good, atmosphere good. Chips and salsa spot on. I ordered the chile relleno plate and could taste freezer burn. This spot is a hidden gem! Plazita Mexico Café seriously impressed me. I got the chilaquiles served with rice and beans , everything was delicious and i'm picky about my rice and beans! i also got pancakes (amazing). First off, I really like this place but it seems like the more we eat there the more little issues pop up. I think one of the things that hurts a lot of successful places is arrogance...of management, of certain employees or maybe an owner. Maybe it's just repeat customers? It happens over and over. I think we all see it happen in various places. Attention eateries... 1.When you have seated customers, please don't ignore them and assume all is well, check on them frequently...even though you assume they always come back, they tip well and they are very polite. We always respect out servers, tip well and even clean up our mess. 2. When another group arrives "after" us and they are ordering and served before us, it makes us wonder- "are we invisible?" 3. Once I have something on my plate, it's awkward and wrong to ask me to take some off when you gave me the wrong food item....even if I didn't touch that item on the plate. You simply bring the correctly ordered item and offer a box for the wrong food item for me to take home or leave for you to discard. I can decide what to do for myself with the wrong food. I don't need a server asking me to take it off my plate while you stand there making sure you retrieve it. This happened here and blew our minds...WTH did she just do?? This was just rude and very weird. We were stunned but polite and compliant. DO THIS - For example, Anchor server forgot to split my wings order so they simply GAVE the correct order and we took the rest home in a box. They errored and we left thrilled knowing they did the right thing. ...and now we go there by default. Happy-Happy-Win-Win. There are SOooo many good alternate places to try - now we will be trying them and not defaulting to the Plazita. I'm sure we will eventually try them again but with so much competition out there, regular customers should not be taken for granted. read more

Service was so friendly and welcoming. Right when you walk in everyone greets you. You seat yourself so I chose a booth to the right, next to the kitchen. FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. Came so quick. First was served chips and salsa. Ordered a Horchata and Coffee cause I like mixing the two Then the Green Corn Tamales, Eggs and Beans... sooooooo good. & affordable. Wow! How about 6 stars? 7? Food: Muy excelente! Service: Pleasant and attentive. Ambiance: Comfortable and somewhat cozy. I had the spinach enchiladas. Holy Kawasaki, so delicious! The cream sauce was perfect, not too thin or thick and the flavor complemented the dish and didn't overwhelm it. Just the right amount of cheddar cheese sprinkled on and melted to, again, complement the flavor. Fresh spinach, tomato, and onion inside. It sounded intriguing so I wanted to try it. I was in the mood to try something out of the ordinary and I'm very happy I did. The refried beans were delicioso! I mean, who gets excited over refried beans? These tasted fresh and had a slightly smokey flavor to it. So good. Mama puts in a little bit of bacon fat in it to give it that flavor. I was SO full after eating, but I kept taking a bite of the beans with rice, it was so good. My wife had shrimp fajitas. Came out sizzling good. She really enjoyed it. Oh yeah, the chips and salsa. Another item that was so good, We both kept taking bites of it even though we were so full you had to take us out to the car in a wheelbarrow. The chips fresh and not greasy (made in house) and the salsa was also fresh, good flavor, and not spicy. So good I bought some to take home. The horchata is some of the best we've tasted in Tucson. Then to top it off, we had sopapillas. Grandmother makes them. Delicious! Comes with honey and whipped cream. I haven't had real sopapillas for decades. Nice and light, appropriately hollow inside. Tasty. Really, some of the best Mexican food I've had in Tucson and I guess that says a lot, considering all the great Mexican food we have here. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Great spot for breakfast or lunch. We split the 2 meat fajitas with shrimp and chicken, and an a la carte chile Colorado enchilada. Fajitas were a good size with a generous portion of mixed peppers and onions. I like to get a side of cheese. Fajitas came qith refried beans and rice. This little spot has quickly become our favorite Mexican restaurant. Tonight we tried their cheese crisp with chiles and it was the best cheese crisp I have ever had. Perfect amount of cheese, perfectly crispy, with a wonderful flavor that I was unable to identify but loved. The shredded beef tostada was also marvelous. Lastly, their refried beans are incredible! When we went into the restaurant, we were welcomed and shown to our table. The menu was not extensive but had all the mainstays. The food is seasoned perfectly and I especially enjoyed the tacos, abondigus soup, and the fajitas. The tortillas were fresh and warm. The chips and salsa's are delicious, and not too hot.
