Went here for cinco de mayo! It was super busy but they were able to sit out party of 5 rather quickly. The place is huge! And it's wonderfully themed. My dad wanted to go here because he toured their good food but also good-sized portions. He was right! I had the watermelon margarita, from their most basic margarita options. It was okay. I love the glasses with the cactus stem though. I ordered the Al pastor tacos, which were excellent. But I was full off of chips and guac by the time I got them, so I had to take two home. They still tasted great the next day! For dessert, I had the churros, which were nothing special. My dad had the fried ice cream, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I tried it, it was yummy! I've been coming here with friends and family for over a decade. The decor is a little dated inside, but the super friendly Service and the food absolutely make up for that. The menu is huge. There are no wrong choices here, there is something for absolutely everyone. They have a full bar, and I can personally recommend the strawberry margarita, as they make it with real strawberries, and not From a mix. Complementary warm tortilla chips and homemade salsa are brought to the table quickly after being seated. The queso dip is absolutely out of this world! It is creamy and spicy. Had high hopes that this restaurant would continue the great Mexican food tradition started by the previous owners which seem to have failed because of lousy service. This new place had decent service but the food was terrible.. ordered what I thought was a pork dish with tomatillo sauce. What I got was a plate of fatty food, no taste and inedible. I sent it back then ordered a quesadilla which was edible but tasteless. Could have had the same thing at at Taco Bell. Service was good, but the manager's daughter(17?) was the bartender who did not even know how to pour a beer, painful to watch. I ordered a taco salad and requested the shell on the side so it didn't get soggy and received a shell and a very small amount of lettuce, nothing else. And the manager tried to tell me the veggie fajitas I ordered didn't come with anything, but their menu clearly says it comes with warm tortillas on the side. My cousin suggested we give this place a try so today was the day! First, let me start by saying the margaritas were delicious and the portions were HUGE!!! Service was great & the food came out really quick. They provided the first batch of chips and salsa and we went ahead and purchased some queso dip and it was really good! I had the Pollo Fundido which was sauteed chicken breast strips with mushrooms prepared in delicious red sauce with melted jack cheese. If you like cheesy, this is the dish for you, It was really, REALLY good! It was served with refried beans and rice. My hubby had the Como Tres Combo with an enchilada, chile relleno and beef taco also served with rice & refried beans and he was very pleased with his dish as well. We have always been huge fans of the rancho. Tonight we had the worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. First it took forever for us to receive drinks (Non alcoholic drinks mind you). Then we had finished our chips as a family of 5 and our waitress seemed to be actively ignoring us. We sat without drink refills until I had to go to the bar to order refills of water for my kids. we had ordered an order of guac that never came and we were charged for. My son had asked for no sauce on top of his fish tacos and finally after almost 30 minutes of waiting had the sauce on it and when we told the waitress his order was wrong we got accused of not telling her about the sauce and sent it back to be remade. this took about another almost 20 minutes. My daughters split a cheese quesadilla and I asked for an extra plate and we never received that. I had to use the empty chip container bc we never got a chip refill after asking for one more than once. Then it took forever to get the check which was incorrect and needed to be fixed. Then that took forever as well. Our drinks my husband and I had were terrible! we were so disappointed and won't be returning. read more

I used to like this this restaurant. The food was always pretty good or OK and it was the closest Mexican in the area. We go every 6 months or so, but I'm done. Last night was just awful food. Rancho Chico is a HUGE restaurant that needs to be remodeled as the carpets are old, the bathrooms gross and the decor tired and tacky. I will say the customer service here is always great - you are greeted warmly, seated quickly and your server is fast friendly and efficient. The Margarita, even top shelf, was not flavorful and barely had alcohol in them. Not worth the price. They brought a bowl of thick cold tortilla chips quickly with a thin, watery salsa. Our whole bowl had 2 small pieces of onion and that was it. We have tried various dishes in the past , some combo dinners, carne asada, carnitas de Puerto , etc. They were all OK, not really good but ok. Tonight my BF got the chicken burrito and he said it was fine. I ordered the steak fajitas medium rare, with refried beans and rice. First I got a plateful of WET chopped lettuce, some salsa, sour cream, guacamole and a bit of shredded cheese. The tortillas were hot but all fold at the end and tearing when I tried to open it. The dishes came out together and as soon as i saw mine i said those are not medium rare. They are well done. The server just looked at me and said "What?" I said "Those are not medium rare" She looked at it, then at me and said "What do you want? I said "Please make another one medium rare." So she left with the sizzling dish. Now wouldn't you think that if that happened you , the server, would take the first available steak fajitas in the kitchen? No. We sat there for 10 minutes (me telling BF to eat and not wait) , with me picking at my thin soupy refried beans with no flavor and hard spanish rice. Then she brought out new steak fajitas. This one was medium rare. At least the thick pieces of steak were. the smaller thinner pieces totally overcooked. The onion and peppers were almost raw. So I ate the medium rare meat in my now cold tortilla and just called it a day. $15.99 is a decent rate for steak fajitas - even on the lower side of most Mexican restaurant where the average $18-22. However that dish wasn't worth $15.99. So that was my last experience there. I hear there is an AWESOME new authentic Mexican restaurant in N. Attleboro called Los Antojitos Restaurant and Bar. We've dined here regularly for about 15 years, and also ordered weekly from DoorDash during lockdown to help this business stay afloat. At one point, they stopped including chips and salsa, which was an understandable cost cut during the pandemic; however, it's been awhile now and they've still not returned to including them, while competitors we've found in the area do. What really stings is the recent price hikes. Our last takeout order was $7 more than for the same two dishes the week before. Upon checking a menu at pickup, we saw that one dish had gone up $6--and still no chips and salsa. We'd also noticed the last few months that the quality of the food was inconsistent at best. We don't believe the restaurant is under new management and we really hope the value and food quality return to what we've always known. We have found two closer Mexican restaurants and will be mostly giving them our business now. But Rancho Chico, we will miss our weekly visits and the wonderful staff we've come to know. read more

On the plus side, portions were very generous and the margarita was cheaper than at most Mexican restaurants and probably similar in quality (although probably from a mix). Your meal comes with complementary chips and salsa (refills are extra) and the salsa was rather watery - probably from a can. I ordered a chef specialty, Costillas En Barbeque, baby-back ribs marinated in a Mexican barbecue sauce. The sauce was not particularly interesting or tasty and the ribs were not served piping hot. The beans were good and they seemed to have used fresh cilantro. Wife got Chicken Fajitas which were rather dry, although they were generous with the chicken. The pepper strips and onions seemed wilty and too soft. For a buck or two more per entree, on average, you'd be better off at a lot of other family style Mexican restaurants. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a weekday - not very busy. Service was prompt and pleasant. Interior a little dark and needs updating - my cushion in the booth had a huge rip in the upholstery where I was sitting for example. Son had a grande nachos - very large portion, looked fresh, nice chips, best guacamole I have had in the area, sour cream, green onions, cheese, etc. He took half of the order home. Wife had fish tacos - 3 of them, rice and beans. Tacos were a bit disappointing - just bits and pieces of breaded fish, mostly lettuce. I had Arroz con Cammarones - rice with shrimp and vegetables. Nice sauce, flavorful, large portion. Plus we had chips and salsa - would have been nicer if the bowl of salsa was larger - it was a flat dish, so we ate all the salsa quickly. Restaurant just okay. Very few good selections around this general area for Mexican food. Sol Del Mexico is a waste of time and Acapulco's is just average and not impressive. This location sits on top of the hill on Route 1 in Plainville and is actually good sized place on the inside. Complimentary chips and salsa, salsa was ok but not great. The menu is what you would expect and decent selections, drinks of course with some tasty good sized margaritas. The food is huge portions, and not bad at all, made to order and the service is fast and efficient and friendly. The prices are decent, bit higher than what I have seen, but worth it. Friendly employees with a sense of urgency. Queso Dip was very tasty with the complimentary tortilla chips, unlike other places, you could taste the jalapenos. I'm writing this in a hospital waiting room. now the other issues we had of the night became smaller, what with missing drink orders, lame excuse for wax paper found inside an enchilada and no comping until asked, and making the group of 13 wait an hour for food while watching other tables being served/having eaten & left... SOMEONE WITH A SEVERE GLUTEN ALLERGY WAS SENT TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT AT THE END OF THE MEAL, after ordering from the dedicated GF menu, and asking to make sure that food is prepared safely for her to consume. person in question had a seizure right at the table. we were the ones to call 911 and remove her from the table to the bathroom. what's worse, paramedics had arrived and left, yet we were STILL waiting for the manager to get to our table to talk to us. meanwhile, the whole dining section was looking on, wait staff passing by not really stopping to check if she was ok. NO HELP from this place. imagine if she was dining by herself -- might have been left for dead right there. once His Majesty finally arrived, and i presented our issue to him, all i got was "we are serious about this", "we have been doing this for 9 years, never had an issue", because "everything is done according to guidelines". this is relevant how? i've never driven drunk and killed anyone for 30+ years either. does that mean i can say it'll NEVER happen....despite a person lying right under my car as i emerge from the vehicle, like, right now??? can you GUARANTEE there can be no mistakes to be made among that large staff of yours? besides, if you "never had an issue" with allergies, why do i see multiple reviews in the Find Me Gluten Free app stating otherwise?? maybe those diners never brought it up to your attention, or maybe you just shunned them the way you did to us. let me break this down a little bit. so, by "treating this seriously", do you mean: - appearing from the kitchen to check on your guests a whole 10 minutes AFTER a life-threatening incident had happened? - showing no other emotion but defensiveness? - refusing to at least comp the meal for the person in question? (trust me, i'm not asking to eat free here though your food is nothing to rave about, nor was it my intention to gyp the waiter who wasn't entirely doing his job) - refusing to give us the ingredient list (that you claimed to have on hand), and would produce that ONLY when the hospital asks for it? - suggesting that the person in question might have eaten something ELSE before arriving at your restaurant, which is making her sick now? - insisting that we pay in full just to "prove that we ate here, in case we have a problem with the allergy issue down the road"? who does that??? and exactly what guidelines are you following??? let me tell you, this person in question is now crying bloody murder in a hospital room because she is in intense pain, suffering from multiple seizure episodes, and purging your contaminated food every way her body knows how. AND YOU ARE STILL TRYING TO SAY THAT THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FOOD YOU SERVED HER? and i thought i might have misinterpreted his reactions/attitude in the heat of the moment (during which we both tried to be calm), but others at my table heard our conversation and thought likewise: he offered little to zero sympathy or solution to our problem (well, not even being there in the first place), did not own up to the issue at hand (more like fighting it the whole time, much less offering an apology), and basically treated me as if I was attempting to complain my way to a free meal. mind you, although some of us strongly disagreed, we still paid in full (with a smaller than normal tip) -- just bc we didn't want the waiter to be penalized for the owner's inexcusable behavior (he claimed that he would have to pick up the tab if we didn't pay). we did it "just to prove" that we're not here to get a free meal out of you. again, who does that??? Mr. Antonio Santillain, you had MANY chances along the way to rectify a customer issue, yet you chose the road to make it worse. much, much worse. you blew it big time, sir. just be careful of any lawsuit and formal complaint coming your way. good luck doing business like this.
