I've heard mixed reviews, but have always been a big fan of Lewis BBQ and when they had Juan Luis in this location so I wanted to make my own assessment. It was a busy weekend so we started out with a wait. My friend arrived before me and was hanging by the bar for a drink and all of a sudden a couple was about to get up and gave us the signal to take their spot so we did. We actually enjoyed sitting at the bar watching all the cocktails get shaken in the machine, chatting up the bartenders, and getting more margaritas on demand. I was most intrigued by the beef ribs so we decided to order those and some chicken nachos and share the whole thing. The ribs comes with a whole rack plus three sides... beans, a baked potato, and slaw. We were both hungry and agreed we did not even need the nachos. We ate some of them, but they weren't that exciting when there's ribs on the table. The nachos were non-traditional too and just individual chips loaded with everything you want. Kindof the perfect nacho bite and great for sharing. While the nachos were tasty, the ribs were amazing. They look burnt in the photo but they have a nice char on the outside that give it a nice crisp. While they are the most expensive dish on the menu, it's not so bad if you're sharing it. They do run out and it turns out we got the last rack of the night so everyone around us was jealous. I'm not sure if I can come here and not get these ribs at this point. read more

Honestly I don't give many five star reviews but holy moly this restaurant earned 4.75 stars so had to round up. It's just that good. From the hostess, to our waitress Kelli B to cleanliness of restaurant, bathrooms, table etc everything was absolutely spot on. I hadn't been in about a year. I found the total experience to be ok. I've now been back 4 times in 2 months. Whatever they're doing, they have hit their stride. Service is great. I was excited to check out the Mexican concept after having such great food at Lewis BBQ. We had some hits and misses, but it was a cool spot. We walked in late on a Saturday and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender gave us some chips and pointed us towards the salsa bar. We ordered a few house margs while we looked over the menu. We decided on a Christmas burrito for me and my buddy went with the chicken hard tacos. The house marg was a bit sweet for both of us. It didn't seem balanced, so we tried the rancho Rita. It was a bit strong for our tastes. The chips and salsa were phenomenal. Our food came up quickly and looked good. My Christmas burrito was awesome. It had great flavor and texture. The chicken hard tacos were a bit lacking. They were small and didn't have much meat in them. The rice and beans that came as sides were great. Overall, we had some hits and misses. Overall: Food is packed with flavor and authenticity, and is a perfect pairing with Edmund's next door. The good: Plenty of seating both inside and out, and the service was attentive and helpful with the large menu. Portion sizes are large, allowing you to share with multiple people. The salsa bar is unique and allows you to try different combinations, plus the chips and salsa (and tortillas) are made in house. We split the Lloyd Lewis which had perfectly cooked steak and loads of flavor in the enchilada as a whole. Atmosphere is fun without being too kitschy. So I was not a fan of this place but I am willing to try again. I did not like the taste of my chille relleno, the beans or the rice. Everything felt watered down. That's the only way I can describe it. Even when we took it home for left overs Danny said the "breading" the relleno was surrounded by was not translating well as leftovers either. Danny got a CHRISTMAS burrito which had pork in it and he said it was delicious. We both loved the free home made chips and the salsa bar. I'd go just for those alone which is why I was disappointed in my meal. Again, I think that will improve. So the pros and why you should try this place. The place is impeccable. I love Lewis BBQ, and I'm fine when it comes to Mexican food (I'm not the biggest fan of it in the world but I do enjoy it, especially margaritas) so after hearing all the rave reviews for this place I was excited to get the chance to try it myself. The drinks were pretty good - not too boozy, a little heavy on the mix. I didn't get to try the frozen marg, but on the rocks was fine. I probably couldn't do more than one as the mixture was a little too much for me. Really liked the rattlesnake bite, and would definitely get one again if we were to stop by. As for the food, the star for me was the Christmas burrito. The pork inside it was the star of the entire dinner for me, as the flavor and spices slow cooked into the tender pork made me crave more of it. Only complaint was that there didn't seem to be as much as I would have hoped, but I'm also a glutton. Chicken enchilada was tasty, but I prefer the red to the green sauces. We went on a Sunday afternoon and even though they had a good crowd it wasn't too noisy or anything, but the service itself was kinda slow. We came here for Happy Hour (4-6 Monday thru Friday) and they had half off all drinks and appetizers (except the nachos). It's one of the best HH in town, in my opinion, so put this on your list! We arrived right at 4 on a Friday and were quickly seated as it wasn't busy at all. We ordered the queso asado and the shrimp cocktail, and each decided on a house margarita. Our bartender was quick and friendly, and the margs came out very fast. They were solid and made with Lunazul, but it didn't blow me away. They brought some house made chips (worth writing home about) and they have a salsa bar so you can mix and match your preferences as they're all delicious. The queso asado is amazing, but it is pretty spicy and not for wimps, so you've been warned. They come with either flour or corn tortillas, but I prefer them with the chips. The shrimp cocktail was also incredible and they don't skimp you on the meat! The feel is definitely more upscale than your regular Mexican restaurant, but their food matches the vibe. We have eaten here for dinner before as well, and it is definitely worth a visit. The wait was long for dinner (but they had also just opened, so maybe it's better now). But if you do find yourself waiting around for a seat for dinner (as you should), make sure to grab a beer outside from Edmond's Oast Brewery to pass the time. After dinning at Ranch Lewis over 150 times, yes that's a real number, I cannot recommend them anymore. We just went for lunch and to it was horrible. We both ordered the Juan's combo and by far the taco was the worst I've ever had. They recently changed to steak tacos and whatever sauce they use is the gross. The enchilada was ok, but they now bury everything in a weird mix of vegetables to hide the fact they use so little meat. After 3 solid years of going 2-3 times a week we are done. read more

What a different world from the old Workshop space! The Lewis team did a great job of converting the building seamlessly into one big restaurant. We made a reservation last night for a mini baby shower for a friend; they expertly seated us in a large table in the back corner, allowing for privacy. Our waiter was Lewis, which was super easy to remember! He brought over freshly made chips and pointed out the salsa bar, which is fun and cute. We tried not to fill up on chips and salsa before our meals, but the chips were SO good that it was difficult not to mindlessly munch on them. For my entree, I ordered the wedge salad with the mesquite grilled chicken. It was gigantic and even more delicious than I had expected a wedge salad to be. I even brought home my leftovers (which was more than half of the plate). I was stuffed to the gills but wanted to keep eating it - that's how good it was! I was excited to try Rancho Lewis, but found it lacking in a few areas. I'd probably give it 3.5/5 stars. Service was great. We were seated promptly upon arrival (no reservation on a Tuesday night). I didn't think our server liked us because she gave us a lot of blank stares after we ordered/said anything, but she was quick and efficient, and not every server has to be 100% on all the time. The restaurant is well decorated and cozy-feeling despite its large size. I didn't feel crammed in with other tables but it wasn't drafty and sparse either. Food: I really liked the salsa bar - it's nice to have that option especially to grab limes and cilantro! However, I didn't think the salsas were very flavorful. I felt the same about most of the food. The guacamole was good and I loved the queso. The vegetable fajitas could have used seasoning. The beans were under-seasoned. The rice was actually delicious. I could see how they would cater more toward meat eaters, but I still expected more salt. Our friend got the chicken tacos and was similarly underwhelmed. Rancho Lewis is a great Tex Mex style restaurant led by Pitmaster John Lewis; hence the name Rancho Lewis! Having grown up in El Paso and knowing what makes good Tex Mex "border fare" he knows how to do it right and we were totally satisfied with our meals~ chili peppers and all! I loved my Sun City Caesar tossed with crispy romaine greens, Chile rajas and cilantro and accompanied with a zesty Caesar vinaigrette ~ I chose to add the mesquite grilled chicken and it was delicious. The kitchen continues to work with local farms and purveyors and I could taste and did savor the fresh and savory ingredients with no sweat!!! Once seated you will be directed to the "self serve" salsa areas found in each dining area~ so make sure to help yourself to three different types ~ great idea to be able to do while you wait for your food. Try all three of the salsas btw~ each one is a different heat level and is nice addition to the complimentary corn chips that your server will bring to you. The service is swift, friendly and knowledgeable and the staff are eager to share their knowledge of the memorabilia, southwestern artifacts and wall art that are all on display throughout the restaurant and owned by Lewis. I came here with my family and had a fantastic time. I t was casual but the service was great. It is fairly large and has good southwest decor. The food was all very tasty. We had a large variety of dishes and eat family style. I particularly remember the ribs and the fahitas. I also really like this plaza next to edmonds oast brewing. The fake grass field is great for the kids to run and play. They also had live performances and there is a brewery next door if you want to head over afterward. The beef taco is a hard shell taco + must be eaten ASAP to really get that nice crunch + flavor. The enchilada, rice, beans were okay. Across-the-board, the consensus in our group was that the food was very good, with the highlights being the green chili enchiladas, the salsa bar, and the "Christmas" burrito. There are three different types of salsa, and all of them went very well with the chips and the main dishes. It honestly was my favorite out of everything we ate. Christmas Burrito: I really liked both sides of this dish. The green side was sweet than the red side in my opinion, but both went really well with the burrito, and the cheese dominated everything. I've eaten here probably 20 times and when it's good it's really good, unfortunately it's been consistently inconsistent lately. Today I went for an early dinner with my husband and I ordered the shrimp tacos which I often order. When I received them I could tell by the look of things they were off...the shrimp were butterflied into tiny halves, almost as if they were trying to skimp on ingredients. Other than that they were missing the key ingredients of the corn/pineapple salsa and the usually delicious sauce tasted more like a sour tartar sauce. When I mentioned this to our waiter he was kind enough to offer something else for my meal and the managers did come out and apologize. While this was nice and appreciated, it was unfortunate that I had to eat after my husband had already had almost 50% of his meal and more so the fact the kitchen let this meal leave the kitchen. I've posted a picture of my meal today and a recent picture from a reel of a local food blogger who also ordered the shrimp tacos...the difference is extremely noticeable. Outside of this experience we've notice the quality and taste of drinks is very inconsistent despite having an automatic shaker system for their margaritas. We've also noticed the time of day can dictate the quality of meat you get in fajitas. One of our favorite dishes is also the wedge salad but this has also been inconsistent ranging from toppings missing, amount/size of lettuce, quality of ingredients and dressing, etc. This place is amazing when it's good but very subpar when it's a miss. I think we're going to need to take a pause after our most recent experiences, hopefully they can work out the kinks. read more

We came in on a Friday night so it was packed.
