Taco fajita salad
Sherri J.

We were seated as soon as we arrived and had great service. The margaritas were huge and wonderful. I had the taco fajita salad. The veggies were still crunchy and not cooked the death! The steak bistec had great flavor and the texas burrito was huge! My brother said the BEST burrito he has ever had! Fun atmosphere with great music!

This place is my vibe! Finally, we have a Mexican restaurant in Charleston that plays reggaeton and has more of a modern feel. It's reminiscent of some of the other restaurants I've seen in other cities. We ordered the carne asada and the flavor was on point. It wasn't skirt steak (as carne asada should be), though it doesn't seem like any of the Charleston Mexican restaurants use skirt steak for carne asada. It didn't come with rice, just the beans, lettuce, cheese and frijoles. Had we known, we would've ordered a side of rice. I had the tequila punch. The presentation of it was pretty and the flavor was really good. Prior to getting to the restaurant, my daughter had a big craving for a glass of horchata and she was definitely happy with the horchata at Villa Cantina. The waiter was very attentive and my daughter was so happy to get proactive refills of her horchata. The staff was friendly. The indoor art and decor amplified the experience. Though maybe the lighting should probably be more calmer during lunch/early dinner hours. Its perfect for nighttime though. There's an ample amount of comfy outdoor seating and I can picture myself coming by and sipping on a margarita on a nice sunny day. On a rainy day, there would be good coverage to stay dry too. My daughter said this is our new spot for Mexican food.... So we will be back to try the other dishes.

This was our first visit. We are new to SC, having moved from NY. Our service was excellent from young, very pleasant Michelle who knew the large menu well. The food comes out freshly cooked and steaming hot! The somewhat spicy salsa is homemade and tastes so fresh. The guacamole is yummy, as well as their chips. It was a big win for us. We look forward to dining at their Summerville restaurant now, closer to us, and trying more deliciously prepared menu items.

The food was decent - not the best fajitas I've had but did the job to get some food in me. The music is pretty loud so my friend and I were having to speak semi loud to hear each other and our waiter. Later on there was a Love Island watch party that started and it was just way too overstimulating from the constant talk of other people and then the kitchen staff were blaring music. Overall, just not my vibe for a dinner place.

You would think that this place is a club from the amount of loud music coming from the patio at all hours and it turns out it is! I went there for happy hour and luckily enough they have happy hour seven days a week with great margarita specials but nothing For food. We ended up getting a couple of appetizers and definitely nothing to write home about. This place is more of a vibe for drinking and if you're into clubbing, this would be a great place when the sun goes down. It has a full bar with indoor outdoor seating And a covered patio. I've never seen more than a handful of people in here at any given time during the day though.

1st time visiting this restaurant and it was a great experience. We sat inside, but the patio setup is really nice, and has access to an outside bar. It happened to be karaoke night and it was a great vibe. Families, birthday groups, toddlers to elderly were having a good time. The service was excellent. We ordered 2 pitchers of margaritas, frozen lime flavor and mango on the rocks, which were on point. I ordered Cheese steak Burrito meal and it was good. Also the Chori-queso was delicious. My friends and I all agreed that we'd be back.

I will go back again and again for the Pork Carnita dish. I will eat one there and bring one home for breakfast the next day (as we did when we visited and it is worth it). The table chips delicious and the salsa brings the heat, but good flavor as well. The Flautas were so so - chicken was too much and too dry. The biggest downside was the margaritas - he had regular and I had cranberry (I think) but, sadly, they both tasted the same, and really not very good. Margaritas are what will keep folks coming back... The staff were spot on wonderful! Ultimately we enjoyed our visit.

This was also my first visit to this new restaurant that used to be the old Andolinis. I had a hot, fresh, and tasty fried Chimichanga with beans and rice, while my date had their delicious burrito bowl. The staff were very friendly. Lively good music that makes you move to the beat. They have a nice covered outside seating area with large inside seating large enough for a dance floor. Will be back again.

Asada Taco

This place is new, so I had to try it. After all I can hear the music from a nearby friends house. I thought this would be a Mexican restaurant but it's a club that serves Mexican food when it isn't being a club and if you're looking for a Latin club in West Ashley this might be exactly what you're looking for! I however was a bit disappointed. The happy hour only has margaritas no food, it is 7 days a week and is $7 margaritas from 4-7. The food is okay, nothing to write home about. The asada was poorly seasoned it tasted more like ground beef. I sat at the bar and the smell of fabuloso cleaner was overpowering but at least we know it's clean. It's got a great outdoor space but the music is so loud you can't have a conversation. The service was okay. I think we were trying to be friendly because it's my friends neighborhood but it didn't really feel reciprocated. Overall I feel like this place is still trying to figure out what it is, and it's not going to win any culinary awards but it's easy and quick and the cocktails are delicious.

Fabulous art and decor - really fun energetic vibe

Every element worked together beautifully without overpowering the dish. The guacamole was exactly what great guacamole should be, creamy with just the right amount of texture, perfectly ripe avocados, fresh lime, and balanced seasoning that made it hard to stop eating. The Spanish rice, tomatillo sauce, and pinto beans were all equally delicious and clearly made with care and attention to flavor. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed chatting with our friendly and enthusiastic bartender, which made the experience even more memorable. Service, atmosphere, and food were all outstanding. While the queso and the meat were good (not much of it though), everything else left a lot to be desired. The sauces were not good and kind of ruined the food for me. I'm surprised by how unimpressed we were. It's certainly not awful but wasn't worth $70 for two dinners (no alcohol). I don't recommend it and don't think we'll be back, unfortunately.

To start we ordered the trio: guac, queso, and salsa + chips and the quesadilla. The Trio was good, about what you'd expect for chips and salsa at most places. The quesadilla was quite good as well. I ordered the Lobster roll (forgot complete name) and the Tsunami roll. Both of my rolls were incredible. They were very nice, 10/10 rolls. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were on point. All of my friends also enjoyed the rolls they ordered. I also ordered the fish collar tacos, which is easily the best bang for your buck on the menu. The plate only costs $14 and it comes with 2 fat fish collars, not sure what species, forgot to ask, if I had to guess I would say grouper or cobia. These collars are beautiful fried and loaded with meat. Additionally the plate comes with some lettuce, cilantro, lime, pineapple pico, sauce, and 3 flour tortillas. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty to separate the meat from bone, you will get three very very filled fish tacos and have meat to spare. Needless to say, the fish collar tacos were delicious and very well priced. All in all, I had a good time; the service was phenomenal, drinks were constantly being refilled, and there's really nothing to complain about. Great experience!

Fortunately we were early enough to get a place to sit before the line formed out the door. The biggest complaint was the service. They appeared to be terribly understaffed for even a regular day. Service was sooooo slow. Hard to get even water refills. The food did arrive hot. It was very typical Mexican style food. I had a chicken macho burrito. The chicken was overcooked and it had a two shrimp in the filling. Fortunately I have no allergies to shellfish and actually like shrimp but his could have been disastrous for someone else. The restaurant was very loud and could also use some updates. In spite of the large crowd, and being grossly overworked, the staff remained helpful and friendly to the best of their ability which I give them kudos for considering the situation. Probably won't come back.

And while I didn't get one this time, their skinny margs are some of the best on the peninsula. Highly recommend. It's always very clean and prices are cheap!

Both made our day! I will say: Duncan makes the best Berry Coladas!! That drink is SO GOOD! it tastes like a coconut berry smoothie (we got the alcoholic version with rum, but there's a nonalcoholic version as well). Once our table was ready, we were moved to a booth. The overall decor is coastal and cute, with basket-lighting, wooden booths, and multiple ways to order! You can order via your server, QR code, or a paper ballot. We started off with the large sized chips & guac. I was skeptical at first because the guacamole doesn't have tomato, but it was VERY good! We devoured it! For tacos: we got: The baja fish taco: one of my favorites--the fish is perfectly crispy The crispy duck taco: good! Not super crispy, but definitely tasty The cauliflower taco: a surprise hit! I found the flavors very refreshing and well seasoned! The tuna taco on a bed of lettuce: this one can get messy. I ordered with my stomach instead of reading the fine print that it doesn't come in a traditional taco tortilla. The overall taco is good and the tuna has excellent flavor. The taco does come loaded with a sauce that tends to spill--so eat over the tray! My sister got the carne asada taco, and she felt that it could have been better. She felt the carne asada itself was bland and relied on the sauce for flavor. I'm usually skeptical of chain restaurants like Bartaco, but I've been pleasantly surprised: their food is reliably good! (Of note, the Bartaco in Hyde Park Village in Tampa DOES take reservations, unlike this one). I wish this Bartaco also took reservations. On busy days, you can easily expect a 30-45 minute+ wait to be seated here. That being said, the guacamole, the drinks, and the tacos are overall very good! I found that ordering 5 tacos was more than enough to fill me. My sister and I split our bill of berry coladas, large chips & guac, and tacos (5 per person) and it came out to $33.53 per person (with tax and tip).
