Had to try rancho Lewis this weekend !!! They have a great menu selection. The outdoor patio is ideal and right next to an open area, so very family friendly. It's a little ways from the downtown area but worth the drive. We ordered the brisket enchiladas, fajitas, and street tacos. I would love to visit again. The meats all had great flavor and were tender which you would expect from a Lewis establishment!

Rancho Lewis has a really cool, lively vibe -- fun decor, great energy, and friendly service. The free salsa bar with three different options is an awesome touch, and the chile con queso was absolutely delicious. I tried the Christmas burrito, which had tender, flavorful pork and a nice balance of red and green sauce. The brisket enchiladas were good but on the smaller side with filling for the price. Overall, it's a great spot for bold flavors, a relaxed atmosphere, and a solid margarita.

Try this place! We loved eating here. First of all, the inside is beautifully decorated. We love the southwest ranch theming-- it reminded me of my time in New Mexico and southern Colorado. The lighting is great, really setting the ambience in there. The service was also attentive. Our waiter was very sweet and was on his game the whole time we were there. They have a salsa bar and every sauce we tried was delicious. Their homemade chips are also great. It's a scratch kitchen! We ordered queso for the table and my husband and I got an old fashioned and a Margarita, respectively. Both were well balanced. His old fashioned in particular had a delicious, Smokey taste to it For entrees, my husband ordered the smoked brisket enchiladas and I ordered chicken enchiladas verdes. The latter was our favorite-- just a really great flavor and the chicken was very well seasoned and very juicy, especially for being in an enchilada. The beans in the side were delicious and the Spanish rice was fluffy. We were too full for dessert but hopefully we will try next time! I can't wait to go back.

My New Years goal is to try more restaurants in the Charleston area and this one has been on my list for a while. This was my first time here. I made reservations online thru Resy. When you walk in it feels like I am walking into a southwestern vibe. It's so nice and intimate. They have a small little salsa bar which is cool. We got the smoked brisket taquitos and I got the chicken street tacos and my husband got the Christmas Burrito. All the food was delicious. My husband cleaned his plate. We both are fans of Lewis Barbecue and this place is right there when it comes to great food and drinks.

I had the queso, chips, chili lime margaritas and a fish taco. All very tasty. My husband had the brisket enchiladas. Way too salty. I only took a small bite and was grossed out

While we love Lewis BBQ, this second visit to Racho Lewis was a bit of a disappointment. Staff is fantastic, but the food is lacking given the price point. The venue is comfortable but the music very loud, especially when they aren't that busy. It's hard to have a conversation across the table whether you are sitting inside or out. The drinks are light on the alcohol and nothing notable flavor wise. The food is attempting to be an upscale version of basic southwestern/Mexican influenced cuisine. The portions for the money seem out of alignment. If the quality had been super high, I'd understand the portion sizing, but the chicken and beef in the fajitas seemed to be the type I'd expect from a lower end fast casual restaurant. The beans and rice are fine, but rarely do you find "amazing" or unique beans and rice. Regarding pricing, as an example, beef fajitas are $34 and if you ask for a mixed portion, they charge an additional $4 for chicken. As you can see from the photo, this is not a $38 portion of meat. Additionally, if you ask for more than 3 tortillas, there is an additional $6 upcharge for 3 more. That feels excessive for some flour that was put through a machine. I did enjoy the hot wings. The spice was great, but they were somewhat over sauced. Their green salsa is fantastic. This is NOT a necessary stop in the Charleston area. All things considered, there are so many other dining options so best to move on and try something else.

Night 1 on our weekend in Charleston we dined at Rancho Lewis. We made reservations a while back since there were 12 of us and when we got there they were finishing setting our table. It was nice that they were on time with our reservation and we didn't need to wait any time for our table. Service : our waiter was great. He welcomed us to Charleston and then told us he would give us a few minutes for us to review the menu and then told us about their tortilla chips and the Salsa Food: chips and salsa bar didn't disappoint. The issue a few of us that ordered chicken enchiladas or chicken tacos all said it was way too salty. The fish tacos were really good and tasty. A few minor issues was incorrect drink was brought to us as well as the food runner didn't know the difference between a chicken taco and fish taco, so the person who ordered the fish taco ate the chicken taco. The manager did bring the fish tacos when dinner was almost done. Would I go back yes, but maybe with a smaller group.

Went on advice from a friend who had a daughter at college of Charleston. 15 minute uber ride. Great hostess and bar tenders. Margaritas frozen below average. Food average. Not worth the visit. Wouldn't go back

Gotta love the salsa bar. Everything I tried was killer and I can't wait to go back. Another home-run from the Lewis crew.

Cool vibes, great service, love the salsa bar the spiciest one had the best flavor and the meats were high quality and tender.

The food is very good and fresh, I enjoyed my meal! However, service was slow and the portions are small for the price.

Brunch review: We stopped in to try the new brunch menu and overall, had a somewhat lackluster experience. Outside was lovely with fans and comfy seating. The food was good, nothing amazing- all came out hot and correct, which is a plus! The service was what really brought the meal down a lot. After being seated, my husband had water poured all over his lap and the table. The waitress sniffed through the whole service and struggled with some basic Qs about the dishes. Chips were fantastic as always and drinks were well made, but a LOT of ice. Okay, considering it wasn't really food related, but probably wouldn't return for brunch since there are so many other options in town to pick from!

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

Both made our day! I will say: Duncan makes the best Berry Coladas!! That drink is SO GOOD! it tastes like a coconut berry smoothie (we got the alcoholic version with rum, but there's a nonalcoholic version as well). Once our table was ready, we were moved to a booth. The overall decor is coastal and cute, with basket-lighting, wooden booths, and multiple ways to order! You can order via your server, QR code, or a paper ballot. We started off with the large sized chips & guac. I was skeptical at first because the guacamole doesn't have tomato, but it was VERY good! We devoured it! For tacos: we got: The baja fish taco: one of my favorites--the fish is perfectly crispy The crispy duck taco: good! Not super crispy, but definitely tasty The cauliflower taco: a surprise hit! I found the flavors very refreshing and well seasoned! The tuna taco on a bed of lettuce: this one can get messy. I ordered with my stomach instead of reading the fine print that it doesn't come in a traditional taco tortilla. The overall taco is good and the tuna has excellent flavor. The taco does come loaded with a sauce that tends to spill--so eat over the tray! My sister got the carne asada taco, and she felt that it could have been better. She felt the carne asada itself was bland and relied on the sauce for flavor. Because this is a chain, I will continue you to go to them because their food is reliably good. However, on busy days, expect a 30 minute+ wait to be seated here. The guacamole, the drinks, and the tacos are overall very good! I found that ordering 5 tacos was more than enough to fill me. My sister and I split our bill of berry coladas, large chips & guac, and tacos (5 per person) came out to $33.53 per person (with tax and tip).

We went back for our missing tacos, and they gave us an extra along with some chips for free. Overall, the food 10/10, but unfortunately the service could not live up to the same standard.

Mine had great mixture of well prepared meat, but without the added hot sauce, pretty bland. On singular tacos; they only captured it one shell. Had to eat them with a knife and fork; impossible to pick them up without disintegrating. Most place use two or more shell preventing this from happening. The Azul bowl was a mix of beans, rice, corn, steak, avocado and a drizzle of sour cream. Overall, it too, was very bland. The highlight was the refried beans, but almost cold when they arrived. The cost we thought were high compared to comparable places. This is kind of a run of the mill place, but you can find better, even here on James Island. I can't see returning.
